Our tour guide, Elizabeth, was very knowledgeable. The stops were very informative. The bus is top notch with leg/foot rest, USB outlets and Wi-Fi. The lunch buffet was incredible with so much variety. Don't miss the museum below the restaurant. This is the best way to travel from Puno to Cusco or vice versa. Highly recommend.

Itinerary
Step Into the Ancient World of Pucará. Discover one of the most important pre-Inca cultures in the Andes! Pucará is more than a stop—it’s the birthplace of highland civilization in the Lake Titicaca region, dating back to 500 BC. At its peak, this thriving city stretched across a full square kilometer, home to priests, artisans, farmers, and warriors. But what makes Pucará truly unforgettable are its stunning monolithic sculptures and colorful ceramics. You’ll see intricate designs—geometric, animal, and human—that still captivate archaeologists and visitors alike. Wander through temples, feel the ancient energy of this sacred site, and witness the artistry of Peru’s earliest cultural pioneers.
Welcome to the highest point of your journey—Abra La Raya, a breathtaking mountain pass that marks the natural border between Cusco and Puno. Perched at 4,335 meters (14,200 feet) above sea level, this spot delivers 360° views of the snow-capped Andes, glacial streams, and endless skies. Keep your camera ready—you’ll often spot peaceful alpacas grazing beneath towering peaks. Feel the crisp mountain air, take in the silence of the highlands, and experience the raw beauty of Peru’s Altiplano. It’s more than a photo stop—it’s a moment you’ll remember forever.
Midway through your journey, you’ll enjoy a relaxing 1-hour buffet lunch—a flavorful highlight of the tour. Set in a scenic Andean town, this meal showcases the rich culinary traditions of the highlands. Sample a wide variety of authentic local dishes, including quinoa soups, grilled meats, native potatoes, fresh vegetables, and traditional sauces made from regional spices. There are plenty of options for vegetarians, and the buffet is served in a clean, comfortable dining hall with friendly staff and great views. It’s more than just a meal—it’s a cultural experience that will leave you satisfied, energized, and ready for the next leg of your adventure.
Step into one of the most sacred and impressive Inca sites on the Route of the Sun. Raqchi, officially recognized as one of the Best Tourism Villages, is home to Wiracocha Temple—a massive, 15-meter-tall was built by an Inca emperor to honor Wiracocha, the Andean people’s invisible Superior God Explore crumbling walls, ceremonial halls, and ancient storage silos that once supported a bustling Inca settlement. The scale, symmetry, and stonework are truly astonishing, offering insight into both the spiritual beliefs and engineering genius of the Inca Empire. Whether you’re a history buff or simply curious, Raqchi is one of those places that lingers in your memory long after the journey ends.
Our journey ends with a showstopper—the stunning Church of Saint Peter the Apostle, better known as the “Sistine Chapel of the Andes.” Tucked inside a quiet village, this humble-looking 16th-century church hides an interior of pure visual drama: gold-leaf altars, ornate wood carvings, and ceiling-to-wall frescoes that blend Andean traditions with European baroque style. Built by Jesuits atop a sacred Inca site, the church is a powerful symbol of Peru’s layered spiritual history. It’s the perfect finale—rich in color, meaning, and wonder.

Comfortable bus with a good choice of foods for the buffet lunch that’s included. A scenic way to travel between Puno and Cusco. Including the stops along the way. 3 guided tours cost extra if not included with your ticket. The guide was excellent, speaking in good English and Spanish, giving details of areas we were passing , as well as explanations at the sites.
wonderful experience with Inca express. Everything is well prepared. Everyone is friendly and thoughtful. Guide is good. Food is good. There is smooth arrangement. We are very happy and satisfied.
Our guide Mathias was fantastic. He did a great job speaking in English and Spanish. His knowledge was excellent. The tour was very well organised. In the end the negative part of our experience were some of the other passengers who chose not to follow the simple and clear instructions on what time to meet. Consequently we arrived over an hour later than expected - none of this was Inka’s fault. People can be so disrespectful. The driver and guides handled it much better than I would have and they were fantastic.
Very comfortable seats with inclination to take a nap. Nice stops throughout trip, so you don't get tired. Excellent lunch buffet with many choices. Our guide shared many details in Spanish & English. He accompanied us from early morning in Puno until our arrival in Cusco in the evening. Long trip, but Inka Express made it confortable
Absolutely the best way to get from Puno to Cusco! 🩷
Long but very enjoyable day travelling from Puno to Cusco. Stops were very interesting, scenery fantastic, guide very friendly and knowledgeable and the lunch was delicious
Thanks for this amazing trip. Our guide Matthias was very funny and the 10 hours drive passed by very fast. Can recommend it a lot!
Early start and confusing as to where to meet bus as no Inka express office
Well-managed trip with guide who was knowledgeable about the sites visited and kept us moving at good pace. Local bread as well as plenty of onboard drinks and buffet lunch was really good. Uninterrupted WiFi connection throughout the trip, and plenty of new historical and cultural learning experiences.
Good day with Inka express, well organized
One of the best tours we’ve ever taken! We booked it mainly because it worked well logistically for our Puno–Cusco route, but it turned out to be one of the best days of our trip. The bus was very comfortable and even had Starlink Wi-Fi. Along the way, we stopped to visit several interesting places, and our guide, Mr. Efraim, was amazing. He spoke in a very engaging way about Peru, its history, and the sites we visited. A delicious lunch is also included in the price. It was an incredibly enjoyable and well-spent day. I highly recommend it to everyone!
Great tour to see the wonders between Puno and Cusco. Great coach services.
A great way to transfer from Puno to Cusco while learning more about pre- Incan culture. A nice backdrop to Cusco and Machu Picchu.
A very long-long trip, but it is a nice trip as the Guide mentioned. a bit of hard to find the bus station at Puno. Beatiful sites on the road, but it tooked about 11 hours, really hard for me....
General feeling about this trip is ok but one thing could have change everything. There was a change in schedule on the very last minute. We received an email the evening before departure explaining that trip would stard 30min before scheduled. First thing, email on such short notice is not acceptable and bring travelers in an unnecessary state of stress. For sure trackwork involving early departure were not decided the day before. Second thing, original Time departure was 6.40, meaning that new Time was 6.10, very early considering that people might sleep away on the lake. It involves here again unncessary stress and high adaptation. Third thing, late communication is bad considering that travelers are often foreigners with low/no access to internet connexion to check regularly email box. Anticipation would have been appreciated
Great tour! Very comfortable seats, the trip is long but it's not stressful thanks to the multiple stops. Amazing landscapes, interesting stops (the various entrance fees for the sites are optional, and you don't have to visit them all; I definitely recommend Raqchi and Andahuaylillas), good and rich buffet lunch. Our guide Matias was fun and friendly. Even though it is a group tour with many people, schedules, and specific times to respect, it is not stressful and you are free to choose what to do. I highly recommend it; it is a comfortable transfer that gives you the chance to see Peru more deeply.
The bus was super comfortable and the guide was amazing. One of the best bus trips of my life. The trip is actually pretty fast and the stops make the trip easy. The views are amazing.
Well.organised, great ride, comfortable bus, best bus we had so far, guide not bad but not the best a bit repetative
Pick up Time needed to be earlier than expected due to road closures. Great stops along the way to make the journey seem shorter. So many wonderful things to see. We especially liked the town of pucara where we saw historical sites and painted our own Turros. A wonderful buffet lunch surrounded by the Andes mountains and blue skies in a very comfortable and friendly restaurant
Good selection of trips on the way to help break up the journey and especially appreciated the food
Good comfortable bus, great stops. Guide was difficult to understand in english.
Great trip. Great information. Enjoyed it all the Way.
Very confortable bus. Interesting sites. Difficult to catch a taxi upon arrival
it was a great experience visiting all the places between Puno and Cusco
The bus was very comfortable and new. The bus wireless worked well and allowed us to watch the final on our handsets. It would be good to learn about how to use the TV in the bus... The small snack was a pleasant surprise. The guide was extremley knowledgable and the programm well structured. I would generally shift time from explaining things to let people spend time enjoying the sites by themselves.
Nice experience. The points to visit were fine, in particular the Latin America Sixtine Chapel! Very excellent and professional guide.
This is the best way to get from Puno to Cusco. Kudos to our guide Livario, who was responsible for 51 pax. He was so nice and welcoming, very knowledgeable about Peru and provided entertaining commentary along the bus journey. We were given little snack packs and a bottle of water to start the journey. There was a help yourself tea/coffee station on the bus too. The stops along the way were great. Two highlights were the delightful painting in a studio in Pukara and seeing the snow capped mountain range Apu. The buffet lunch was really top notch. We had a comfortable double decker coach bus with seat recline. An enjoyable way to get from A-B.
It does what it says it will do. It takes you on time between Puno and Cusco, it stops along the way (and the sites are pretty nice, you wish you had more time, in particular in Pukara and in Raqchi), the guide does speak english and spanish and is knowledgeable, and the perfectly nice lunch is included. When you arrive in Cusco, if you wish, they will call a taxi for you. Or you could call your own Cabify... If I had to do it again, I would !
This was the best bus ride I had in Peru. The bus was roomy with very comfortable seats as well as free wifi. There were a lot of interesting stops along the way and it didn’t feel like a 11 hour bus ride. The only thing I would say to be aware of, is that we were told it’s easy to get a taxi when arriving in Cusco. I didn’t find that the situation. Many people on the bus had drivers waiting for them. I would suggest maybe organising a driver before you arrive. Apart from that it was a wonderful experience.
The day with the InkaExpress has been really good. The guide was simply amazing, full of information and a clear love for his land and its history. The tour was rich and very interesting. We had a grand time. The bus is modern and extremely comfortable with large, plushy reclining seats. All in all a grand experience!
It is the best way to travel from puno.to cusco while stopping in a few important and interesting site to stop the monotony of the trip.
Very comfortable coach and great stops for visits, highly recommended.
Had a great experience traveling with my mom on a full day Ruta del Sol trip and we saw a lot of places we otherwise would never have nor had we heard of them. Traveled from Puno to Cusco with one of the most knowledgeable guides (Elizabeth) and nice and careful driver who got us through a safe journey. Such great value for cost, the bus was well organized, clean, passengers were all so polite and classy. Highly recommend and would do this again.
Great trip ! Detailed explanation at scenic places, lunch was excellent.
Most unexpected - we thought we’d bought a bus ticket instead we had a great guided tour. Turned a journey into an experience.
Good guide, everything perfectly organized. I would recomendd it ,
A lovely journey... interesting stops great lunch excellent guide
Without a doubt, the best agency to do the Route of the Sun tour. Excellent organization, great service, and very interesting stops along the way. The whole journey became much more enjoyable and enriching with this team. Totally recommended.
That's Great Experience.Exciting Mountain view & histrical Site. Lunch is confatable.
Best way to go to Cusco from Puno!! Thanks to the guide and the driver very good and welcoming people. Absolutely recommended, this is the way to go!!
Wonderful trip!! A good way to travel from Puno to Cusco and stop 5 times on amazing points: or archeological, cultural or natural! And a superb guide in perfect English. Especially the Andahuaylillas (Sistine chapel of America) was very beautiful. Great lunch included.
Unique experience with the train transfer from Ollantaytambo to machu picchu. Everything was well organised by the operator with bus transfer from Cusco to Ollantaytambo. Recommended.
A great trip, smashing guide and very informative.
The whole organisation of this trip by Inka Express was very smooth. Even though the tour lasted about 10 hours, time passed by very fast and we enjoyed all stops! Mattias - our guide - offered very useful information during all stops and made the experience worthwhile! He was very knowledgeable and offered great insights. Henry’s driving was also very smooth. The restaurant where we stopped for lunch also gave us a very good impression. Even though buffet lunches are sometimes mediocre this one offered a very good variety of choices that were fresh and tasted very well! The trip was overall a very positive experience for us and we would definitely recommend it.
Great way to travel from Puno to Cusco. Learn Peruvian history, guide very knowledgeable. Lunch delicious and bus comfortable and safe.
Great experience with Inka Express! Very well run, great guide and driver and nice stops along the way.
The InkaExpress tour was brilliant. The tour guide on 6th April was amazing, the detail he went into was second to none. I now feel like I have a firm grounding in Peruvian politics! Each stop on the bus built on the previous one, tracing the Inca story from Titicaca to Cusco. We learnt so much whilst being delivered to our destination. A great experience.
We took the Inka Express bus from Puno to Cusco to visit sites such as Raqchi and Andahuaylillas. Overall, a worthwhile journey. Our guide Mathius was thorough in his explanations. However, he didn’t allow much spare time for shopping :( keeping the schedule tight thus allowing us to arrive in Cusco before 6pm.
Lots of interesting stops to learn about pre Inca history and also Inca times last stop beautiful church Lunch was very good too Informative guide and comfortable coach (sky link WiFi )
