My parents and I enjoyed the tour. Avel and Marco were great guides. Marco stayed with my parents and I as we chose to do the short walk to lunch, ad my mum has troubles walking long distances and the altitude was taking its toll. Marco was very informative, got us the best seat for lunch, and helped answer any questions we had.

Itinerary
We will be picking you up from your hotel within the historic centre of Puno between 0645 and 0700 in the morning. Before boarding the motor boat to Uros Island we will have a brief stop at the boat pier where you can buy some snacks and bottled water. Once you would settle in the boat, a local musician would welcome you with an Andean Folkloric music. Our guide would then introduce himself and the captain of the boat before giving you a brief about the day’s itinerary on the World’s highest navigable lake, Lake Titicaca. Our first stop will be at the iconic floating islands of Uros. During the journey from the mainland to one of the Uros Islands, you can see totora plants that grow on Lake Titicaca. These constitute the basic source of food and, at the same time, they serve as a maintenance system that the Uros have to perpetuate the existence of the islands As the boat would dock in, local women dressed in the local attire would extend a warm welcome to the place they call home. The head of the island would then demonstrate how they build these islands using totora plants and would share a few words in their native language (Aymara). Natives here are known for their handicrafts, so you may buy some if you would wish to. You will then have an option of sailing on the traditional totora reed boat (10 Soles) to the main island of Uros. If desired, you can get your passport stamped here as a souvenir. From here, we will start our boat ride to Taquile islands. You may walk up to the open deck on the upper level of the boat and get some photos of the floating islands that you would be passing through.
Breaching the green waters of Peru’s Lake Titicaca is the little mound island of Taquile where the local villagers have created a steady industry of knit handicrafts, which are knit by the men of the community. Taquile is home to a Quechua population of 2,000 people who are mainly farmers, fishermen and above all renowned weavers. However, unlike the often tragically traditional view of knitting and textile work as the demesne of women, it is the men of Taquile Island who do much of the delicate thread work. The craftwork is divided between weaving and knitting; women do the weaving, while the knitting is the man’s work. We will stop for lunch at a local restaurant. After lunch at around 02:30 PM, you will be boarding the boat back to Puno. At approximately 04:30 in the evening, the boat will dock in Puno’s boat pier. We will meet you upon your arrival and will drive you back to your hotel within the historic center of the city.

Everything was perfectly organized. They were very responsive and helpful. Fausto was my guide and he made the experience truly memorable.
What a shame! Los Uros are dead since 1959! These people are not living on these islands. Coming morning time to deliver a show where all tourists are considered as ATM. All is a big lie we'll orchestrated! Prefer a day to Taquiles where things are a bit genuine!
I did love it and wouldn't have missed it for anything. Overall Uros, 10 out of 10! But I give 4 instead of 5 because there was some confusion in the beginning as various groups were joined and for s moment I thought we will miss it. Also Taquile was a bit of rush rush. If you stopped for photos..you needed to walk very fast to catch up and miss what the guide said . Lunch was lovely but once again we were served the last and I couldn't drink the final tea bc we needed to leave. All depend were you were seated . A 30 minutes more in Taquile would have mean taken photos and enjoy more lunch. BUT as I said unforgettable with the floating islands and the wonderful people of Uros
The tour went very well and everything was organized according to the schedule. The transport was on time, the itinerary was as described, and there were no issues during the day. Overall, it was a well-organized trip and I would recommend it.
We did this full day trip to Lake Titicaca and it was just perfect. From the guide service to transport, everything was smooth. The locals were welcoming and friendly. We even toured the local home on the floating islands. It was a perfect day trip.
Excellent full day tour to Lake Titicaca. Everything was well organised, and our guide Ruben was knowledgable, friendly, and passionate about the local culture. The visits to the Uros and Taquile Islands were unforgettable. Highly recommended.
Unique experience in the highest lake in the world, visiting floating islands and meeting local communities. Fausto is a great guide and a kind person who seems to really care about the people of Lake Titicaca.
While the tour was amazing I think there should be more transparency on what occurs on the tour. My travel companion was having a little difficulty with the altitude, so we were taking it easy. I booked this tour thinking it was a cruise, you go to the floating islands, have lunch and then go back. Nowhere in the description did it say to have lunch you have to hike 1km up a hill (it may be further). If this was in the description I would have cancelled but instead we were left with the choice of climbing a hill with my companion sucking on oxygen or sit on a boat for 2 hours waiting. As I said previously the floating islands were wonderful but I think the walk to the lunch should be mentioned for travellers to make an informed choice.
Pick up was on time , we had a great guide and boat driver. The guide gave us so much information about the history and how the islands were built , the wildlife etc and the lake . The island we visited was great and had a female chief - impressive. They showed us through using models and materials how the islands are constructed. The lunch was delicious and they catered for my vegan diet . Very good day .
Great trip picked up from hotel on time Informative guide Interesting learning how people live on reed islands And way of life on the second island great lunch Comfortable boat
This review isn’t aimed directly at the tour company but rather the experience on the islands. We arrived at Uros island and my partner and I found it to be rather uncomfortable. You are ushered into the local’s homes, they dress you in their clothes and then proceed to guilt trip you into buying their stuff. We also were told each island only has 1 visit every 3 weeks to further guilt trip you but upon research we found this was definitely false!! We found it to be extremely inauthentic and choreographed for your money. On top of that, we were directed onto their boat where they take you to another island. Yet once you are sat on the boat and the boat has left the island, they come around collecting money from you which isn’t optional! It is complete manipulation. The second island is much better but still very staged and it makes me sad that the people now completely rely on tourism to live. Definitely do not pay £42 either as you can get it for 30soles the day before at the port in Puno :)
A big thanks to our guide, Abel for making this trip a memorable one. The tour company was very well organized and easy to reach out to. Miluska, helped me plan the tour and provided all information to plan everything smoothly. The price included all admission fee and the group size was very small, around 12 people. Highly recommend for someone interested in knowing more about local traditions and customs and doing this on the way in or out of Puno to Bolivia.
Arranged by our tour company, pick up from hotel direct to boat in harbour, after an hour got to one of the floating islands, where we had a comprehensive tour of the island, with construction details explained , even tasting the reeds it was built of! Then there were reed boat trips around the island for an extra charge or the opportunity to buy local souvenirs. We then sailed to Taquile island, where you hike slowly due to the altitude difficulties up to the top of the island to a local restaurant for a locally produced meal, where the guide talked and showed us local clothing and customs. On the way there you pass a large field where locals were performing traditional dances and more souvenirs were available.
We did the full day Lake Titicaca tour with Planet Odysseys nd it was esily one of the most memorable days of our trip. From the very begining, everything felt well orgnized and smooth, cleat communication, punctual pickup and a friendly team that made us feel comfortable right away. A big reason this day stood out ws our guide, Abel. He was professional, warm and genuinely engaging. Throughout the tour he explained the history of the Lake Titicaca and the local traditions in a way that felt ntural and interesting. He also made sure everyone in the group was doing well, kept the timing on track without rushing us, and was always happy to nswer questions. The visit to Uros floating islands was fascinating. Seeing how the islands are built from totora reeds and learning how life works on the lke gave us a whole new appreciation for the culture and resilience of the people there. Abel helped us understand the story behind what we were seeing, which made the experience feel more meaningful then just tking photos and moving on. After tht we continued to Tquile Island, and the scenary was bsolutely stunning, wide lake views, fresh air and peaceful atmosphere that feels far from busy touris routes. The walk is very doable at a comfortable pce, nd Abel managed the group really well, giving us time to enjoy the views while lso shring cultural insights about Taquile´s textile traditions nd dily life. It felt authentic and respectful, and the community was welcoming. Lunch was another highlight. The meal was tsty nd satisfying, and the setting made it even better, simple, locl and exactly the kind of experience you want when visiting a plce like this. The whole day had a great balance: cultural learning, beautiful landscapes, and enough time at ech stop to truly enjoy it. Overll, Planet Odysseys delivered an excellent Lake Titicca day tour. Well timed, well guided, and genuinely worth it. If you are deciding which company to go with, I would absolutely recommend them, and if you can, sk for Abel. He made the experience feel personal, informative, nd unforgettable.
A perfect day trip to the two islands of Lake Titicaca. I heard a lot about the floating islands and they were one of the things I looked forward to the most. Abel was our tour guide and he was exceptionally knowledgeable and helpful. The tour company was very easy to reach and helpful me planned this trip smoothly.
I took the full day lake titicaca tour with Planet Odysseys and it was and amazing experience. Everything was well organized, the guide was friendly and explained every detail clearly. The visit the uros and Taquile were the highlight of the day, a true cultural immersion where you can learn firsthand about the traditions, customs, and way of life. The landscapes are stunning, and the agency's service was professional from start to finish. Highly recommend!
I came here simply because it’s the largest lake in South America, located in the Peruvian Andes along the Peru Bolivia border, but it turned out to be one of the best places I’ve ever visited. Every sunrise and sunset transforms the landscape into a painting of vibrant colors reflecting off the lake's surface. The surrounding area offers incredible hiking opportunities with panoramic vistas at every turn. I can highly recommend Planet Odysseys and especially its wonderful guide Ricardo for everybody who want to do the Titicaca Lake tour.
Lake Titicaca Such an amazing place to visit!! Everything was superb the views, the organization of the tour, the entire experience. It was a great trip, and I would do it again without a doubt. Abel was our tour guide. He spoke excellent English and answered our questions and was very knowledgeable. Learned so much about Lake Titicaca and it’s history and the people who live there. Definitely a place to see.
Very good guide, good explication, he know what he is talking about. Very friendly and took good care of us.
Lake Titicaca is a truly magical place. Its vast size, high altitude, and deep blue waters are breathtaking. What makes it even more special is the unique culture and way of life that thrives around the lake. It is one of the most mesmerising experiences in life. If you have not, visited, it is a must-visit place. Titicaca people are very kind and they like to tell story about their place. My advice is to visit also the islands and to sleep there for at least one night. A fascinating mix of old and modern culture. Well worth the visit.
My Lake Titicaca tour was truly a once in a lifetime experience. Visiting the floating Uros Islands was the absolute highlight an incredible blend of breathtaking scenery and deep cultural heritage. Our guides were exceptionally knowledgeable, sharing fascinating stories about the traditions and way of life of the indigenous communities. From the serene blue waters to the warm hospitality, every moment felt meaningful and memorable. The entire experience was seamless and far exceeded my expectations. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone looking to explore the beauty and culture of Lake Titicaca.
An unbelievable experience! We enjoyed a full day cultural tour around Lake Titicaca, and everything was perfectly organised from start to finish. The coordination was excellent, the boat was comfortable, and the team was warm and friendly throughout. Our guide, Saul, was outstanding, very knowledgeable and shared so many interesting insights during the entire trip. This service truly deserves 5 stars. We will definitely travel with them again in the future!
I enjoyed every moment of my tour to the islands of Lake Titicaca. Abel was the guide and he was very nice in explaining things and was very calm and patient. Uros floating island was truly a different place on earth, just few miles away from Puno, the culture changed dramatically. The hike up the hill in Taquile was somewhat difficult but do-able. The lunch was little but delicious. We also saw a folkloric dance performance by locals here.
Great tour! More than we expected. Tip: bring cash for diviners and tips And if you collect stamps on your passport, remember to bring it with you to get a stamp
We had a nice time visiting the two islands on this tour. Uros floating islands were a bit touristic but it was a nice experience getting an insight into the local family’s way of life. Our guide was Fausto and he explained everything in detail and also spoke good English.
Interesting learning about the construction of the floating houses and lifestyle of inhabitants. But after that we felt like a commodity (people on the island looking for any opportunity to sell you something, whether that is "traditional boat" or using toilet). I wouldn't recommend the additional traditional boat, you go half way across by oar and then a motorised boat ties itself to the traditional boat and motors the rest of the way. Lunch was good, and the island you visit is very nice. Felt very Mediterranean for any Europeans. Would recommend if you've got limited time. If got longer, opt for staying on the island.
We truly enjoyed this full day Lake Titicaca tour. It took us to two different islands, the first one was the iconic floating islands of Uros and then a bit longer boat ride to Taquile Islands. The hike from the pier to the centre of the island was 45 minutes uphill, glad we carried our walking sticks. The views were absolutely amazing though. The lunch served here was very delicious as well. Ruben, our tour guide was very nice and was very Knowledgeable and also spoke perfect English.
A fantastic full-day tour of Lake Titicaca with Planet Odysseys! Beautiful scenery, friendly guide, and a well-planned itinerary. Truly an unforgettable experience.
Great and informative tour of Uros islands with a great visit to one of them and plenty of time to take in the sights. The visit to Taquila island was stunningly beautiful and we enjoyed a delicious lunch with spectacular views of the lake and Bolivian snow covered mountains in the background. Highly recommend this tour!
An unforgettable full-day trip to Lake Titicaca with Planet Odysseys! The experience was well organized, and everything ran smoothly from start to finish. Special thanks to Yurema for her excellent support during the booking - seamless and stress free! Highly recommend!
I recently took a tour of Lake Titicaca and thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience. We visited the Uros community, where we had the opportunity to learn in depth about their unique lifestyle, traditions, and culture. It was fascinating and truly enriching. Afterward, we returned to the boat and continued on to the Taquile Highlands, which offered stunning views and a deeper connection to the local heritage. Overall, it was an engaging and memorable journey that I would highly recommend.
A very positive experience from start to end. Yurema assisted me with the booking process and she was very knowledgeable and friendly. On the day of the tour, i was picked up on time from my hotel and the guide was very knowledgable and friendly. Ruben, our guide, was very patient and considerate given the fact that I was still feeling a bit unwell due to altitude and was slow to hike up to Taquile. Overall, I had the best experience and I totally recommend the tour company and the tour.
I could not be more pleased. I decided to vary my itinerary at the very, very last moment and yurema from their team was amazing. Placing me on the the Uros Islands (shorter trip) as I was not feeling like doing an entire day long trip. The uros islands was the part of the trip that interested me most anyway. I had a fabulous time and highly recommend the organisers and staff of this company
Beautiful day out on the lake, got to learn about the locals and how they live. Delicious lunch and met the most lovely people on the tour.
I did the full day Lake Titicaca tour with them and it was a perfect experience from start to finish. The company took excellent care of my requests and were prompt to respond to my mails and queries. On the day of the tour, they pocked me up ontime from my hotel and everything was pleasant. The tour guide, Ruben, was extremely helpful and shared many useful information about the place and history. Highly recommend them.
The spots we visited were fascinating, the tour guide was knowledgeable, and lunch exceeded expectations. Overall, a very positive experience. This tour is a must when visiting Puno and Lake Titicaca.
First stop off at Uros island the boat dropped us off and left us for 2hrs without the guide letting us know to take our bags with us which meant I had no money, coat, sunscreen etc.. Also, over half the trip was spent on the boat getting to Taquile island and when we got there I saw very little in the way of wildlife and not much information about the place from the guide either. Island itself was nice and you could sense the history but not worthy of a full day or the additional flight I took from Lima to Juliaca for the trip.
Depending on which island is the lunch stop, this may involve an uphill hike that takes about an hour. At times the path is steep. The path is pavers of various sizes; a walking stick may help This hike was harder than circuit 2 of MP! We arrived at the plaza too late to enjoy the locals entertainment, which was the point of the hike Option B is to stay on the boat and lunch will be brought to you. Lunch choices were grilled rainbow trout (wonderful), or egg omelette.
The guides and staff were wonderful helping my husband negotiate the vessels and the floating island mats. He was using crutches and needed their steadying arms to board and disembark.
We had a fantastic time visiting the islands of Lake Titicaca. Everything was well organised by the tour company. Our guide, Rubes was incredible and shared many useful information of life on these islands. Highly recommend.
Too much boat time. Tequile Island of highly questionable value. Too touristy and commercial. If I pay for a trip, I don’t expect to be asked for extra all the time. Guide didn’t seem to understand questions properly since his responses didn’t answer the question.
Excellent tour, everything was perfect. The guide was very knowledgeable and helpful. The boat was very clean and well maintained. Highly recommend the tour.
We did this full day tour of Lake Titicaca with Planet Odysseys and enjoyed every single moment of the tour. The guide was incredibly nice, welcoming and friendly and spoke good English. He went above and beyond in making this a memorable experience. His knowledge about the local traditions and culture was impressive. It was truly the trip of a lifetime. The tour was very well organized as well. We visited two different islands, including the renowned floating islands which were on the top of our bucket list.
I am pleasantly surprised by how this agency treated us during our stay. They were very kind and explained the tourist attractions we visited in detail. They knew how to provide us with a fun and relaxing experience.
My day trip to Lake Titicaca was unforgettable! Visiting the Uros Islands was definitely the highlight. Learning about their fascinating history and how people live on floating reed islands was so interesting. The boat ride had amazing views, and Amantani Island was a perfect peaceful break from the busy city of Puno. The locals were really warm and welcoming, and I loved how immersed I felt in the culture. I highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Puno for a truly memorable experience!
From start to finish, my experience with Planet Odysseys was absolutely outstanding. Every detail was taken care of, and the entire tour was seamless and enjoyable. The Lake Titicaca day trip was an unforgettable experience!
