One of the cultures, considered as the “pre-solar” culture or “survivors of a previous or primordial humanity” … The origin of the Uros dates back to Pre-INCA times, where they were the oldest population of the Collao plateau and would have settled in this territory around the year 1200 BC. Today their descendants are the mixture of cultures: Uro & Aymara, they preserve many of their ancestral customs. They live on floating islands, made up of 4 to 7 families. There are more than 140 floating islands, they are located within the Titicaca National Reserve. On this tour we will learn much more about their coexistence and way of life. One of their deities called, “MAMA QOTA”, (mother of the lake). You will be able to enjoy nature: The fauna of Lake Titicaca, where on the way you will observe; Birds, such as the Grebe, (an endemic bird of Titicaca), also the White Heron, Choca, Tiquicho and the fish, the Ispi, Carachi, Mauri or Suche (endemic fish).
It is worth noting that Taquile Island was declared a masterpiece of oral and intangible heritage of humanity by UNESCO, thanks to the extraordinary work of its inhabitants in textile art, where they express their experience, their customs and their culture, and they also maintain their Inca customs: the principles of Ama Sua (Do not be a thief), Ama Llulla (Do not be a liar) and Ama Quella (Do not be lazy), from children to grandparents, they make these fine fabrics that resemble the textiles of the Paracas and Incas. Taquile Island was part of the Inca Empire, and some archaeological remains can be seen. This island was one of the last Inca sites that capitulated to the Spanish in the 16th century. Later it was taken in the name of Emperor Charles V and finally passed to the court of Pedro Gonzales de Taquila, from whose surname its name is derived. The Spanish banned traditional Inca clothing, for which they wear a peculiar outfit.

We asked for a private tour and a huge boat popped up at our lodge. It was fantastic to be just two on such a boat. The crew was very friendly and Luis the guid was extremely kind, knowledgeable, funny. He gave us a lot of interesting insights. We dislike crowds so we were the first to get to the island and we could benefit by the silence and beauty of the landscape. We had a great day and we really recommend this agency. It was all perfect.

This was a great day spent with Richard as our guide. He spoke excellent English, was fun to be around, and was very respectful of the Uros people and the residents of Isla Taquile. We had perfect weather and the views from the island were beautiful. The boat was smooth and very comfortable. I had a wonderful time. Our tour guide Herbert was really informative about life on the islands. He described every experience and tradition with clear quality in both Spanish and English with great enthusiasm. Always happy to answer questions too. The food was wonderful, trout with chips and veggies for lunch as well as a great tour on the floating island too. If you want to have a lot of time on the floating islands getting involved in the culture, you should do a longer tour as they dont give you long to experience it, but as we had only a day free I was very happy with the experience of learning about Juan Carlos and his island. It was also a joy riding his boat and seeing how they acquire fish, keep the islands afloat. No complaints here, really had an excellent time with this

Me and my boyfriend had a great experience exploring the 3 islands of Uros, Amantani and Taquile. Carlos Diaz our guide was very informative, explained a lot about the traditional dress and customs of the local people. Our host family - especially Nilda - were very kind and helpful and made delicious food! We particularly enjoyed the dancing at the party and meeting fellow travellers on the trip. On the tour they encourage you to get involved in the group activities which we found really fun! I have food allergies so for lunch on the last day Carlos kindly called ahead to the restaurant to make special accommodations for me. We found it was really good value for money. Overall we would recommend!
Well, just a lake. A wery heigh situated lake, but, apart ot that, nothing special. The floating islands are cute, the rest is nothing you do not see on lots of lakes arround the world. Nice small people in nice colourfull dresses, trying to sell you the same colourfull things like everywhere.
It is a very nice trip! Highly recommended! The trip starts from visiting Uros, The floating island, where locals showed me how they made the floating island and some artifacts. You will be asked to show around the souvenir but buying was not enforced. Then we take the fast boat to the bigger island, Taquile, by about 1.5 hours boat. I sit on the second floor of the boat, chatting with people. The scenery was so beautiful, though very windy. We had a short hiking (1hour) over the island and the scenery is so beautiful! We stopped by the restaurant and the food there is so good! Highly recommended the roasted fish. After lunch, We can hang around the beach to get touch with the water.
Freddy and captain Jonathan were wonderful people. Freddy the tour guide was so informative and always guiding us. He explained a lot about the lake, Uros and Tequile island. He explained the flora, fauna, people and culture. The lunch was fun with the food and the people we had around. It’s been our dream to come to Lake Titicaca from various inspirations. With Freddy and company we had the best experience as our dream came true.
Great experience, very good visits to 2 islands in Uros with the explanation of how the floating islands are built. Then, a visit to Taquile Island with a nice little hike and a meeting with the inhabitants and their customs and traditions.
I had read the reviews on Google and made the booking via WhatsApp. The communication was fast and easy, even in English! I had booked the day before, but that was no problem. The pickup was on time and worked well! The floating islands are touristy, but definitely worth seeing and interesting! I enjoyed the subsequent boat trip across Lake Titicaca on the upper deck in the fresh air. It can get bumpy, and watch out for the sun! But just to travel across the lake and have the image on the world map in the back of your mind... Many thanks to Reynaldo for the organization!

It was a very pleasant and unforgettable experience. We went with my friends to meet Lake Titicaca, on the full day tours, everything was very nice from the gentleman who attended us at the agency, the guide (Mr. Richard) to the people of the Uros community and Taquile Island. I found it a fantastic experience! Efrain Mamani has been an excellent guide who has made the excursion a fantastic day. He's been the best guide in two weeks in Peru. We have been picked up by bus from the hotel, we have gone to a speedboat (the others are twice as long to arrive), we have arrived in Uros and explained everything, we have been with a family on an island of totora, we have been invited to enter their house, we have told us the whole process of building the island, and we have taken a tour in a real totora boat (there are many of imitation fiberglass boats but this was real, authentic!) and then we have returned to the boat and gone to Taquile, where Efraín has invited us to take a 3 km tour of the island (the other option was to disembark next to the restaurant) and we have seen villages, local people in their day to day working, we have visited a real textile cooperative and finally we have continued the way to the restaurant where we have eaten amazing and explained some things from the locals that we found most interesting!!! We've come back and been dropped off at the hotel. I found the experience fantastic and Ephraim helped this with fair and enjoyable explanations. I recommend it 100% (There were other hikers we had come across, but our experience was better! If you want to go to see Uros and Taquile, do not hesitate because you will not regret it)

We had three amazing experiences with them: - Day tour to Colca Canyon with return to Puno: everything perfectly organized, with comfortable transportation, well-chosen stops and a very prepared guide. - One day and one night on Uros Island: simply magical. The accommodation on the island was gorgeous and spacious — with direct lake views, a four poster bed and a perfect sunbathing area to relax and enjoy the sunny hours and sunset.
