Antonio was an incredible guide! Our day trip to the Sayulita area was amazing. Antonio’s van was spotless and very comfortable. He is exceptionally knowledgeable about every site we visited. Beach time was pure bliss, but the real standout was the amazing seafood Antonio prepared for us- it was delicious. If you want a seamless, professional, and authentic experience, book with Antonio. We could not have asked for a better day.

Jose was a great guide and very personable and knowledgeable. He really cares that you have a great experience.
Nice day trip with plenty of time in all the stops. Need to update the information to clearly state there is a trek downhill through uneven loose terrain and sturdy shoes are recommended. Our information stated sandals were okay. They are not. Also it should be noted there are no restroom or changing facilities at the beach portion. I would have dressed differently had I been aware.
The twon portion of this excursion was wonderful. The second half was lunch at a private beach. Unfortunately the drive to the beach was down a 1 lane dirt road. And the hike into the beach was down a "goat trail" with steep cut out. None of this was mentioned in the advertisement. For seniors such as myself this hiker was dangerous.
This is a one-of-a-kind experience. While Sayulita might be easier to reach, the hidden gem that our guide, Antonio, brought us to was so amazing and so away from the crowd of Sayulita. The food that he prepared was so delicious. I highly recommend this trip if you’re looking for some chill, quiet and good food experience.
Jose Antonio is a very fun, attentive and knowledgeable tour guide. He showed us all around Sayulita and then prepared an amazing lunch for us at a secluded jungle beach. He thought about all of our needs in advance from chilled drinks and towels to cut the midday heat. We had plenty of time to explore the town of Sayulita before our special lunch. We stopped on our way there at a local roadside outdoor market to sample fresh local fruits and traditional sweets. Once in Sayulita Jose Antonio took us to his favorite taco joint for a small bite to fuel our adventure. We highly recommend his tour to anyone looking for a personalized experience.
Amazing does it no justice. It was a trip we will tell everyone about and goes down as one of our best excursions ever! Antonio was a first class host and made sure the whole crew was well tended to. The highlight was definitely the bbq fish lunch for me since I love fish and couldn’t wait to try the traditional cooking method. I would definitely recommend!
Our experience was very pleasant! The drive was beautiful through the mountain pass. Sayulita was cute. But the best was our driver, the private beach he took us to relax and have the best fish i ever had!
Just to echo what the other reviewers have already said, Antonio executed the absolutely perfect tour to Sayulita. I had the absolute pleasure of being the only one on the tour, and my private tour went flawlessly. After being picked up, we made a stop at a roadside market to pickup some local snacks and souvenirs. We proceeded to Sayulita and hit up an amazing taco place. Antonio then proceeded to show me around the town, and we made another stop for souvenirs and fresh produce for the upcoming lunch. We then drove to this private beach, and this part of the day was the absolute highlight for me. Antonio cooked up an absolutely incredible lunch of fish, shrimp and grilled vegetables. All this proceeded by an amazing fruit plate. There was legit enough food for 3-4 people (and I eat a lot). At the beach I swam, then we headed back to PV, where Antonio dropped me off right in front of my hotel. Absolutely perfect day. Would rate 100/10 if I could.
This was a truly spectacular tour. The driver picked us up in the Suburban and on the way we stopped for some amazing mexican sweets. We then proceeded to beach and had a very relaxing 2 hours to self explore. When we were the done the driver took us to a private beach and cooked us an amazing fish lunch over the fire. We were stuffed and the food was amazing. We then proceeded back to our hotel. A lovely and relaxed and very private (just us two) full day tour.
First of all, Antonio outdid himself. We booked this excursion as a group of 3 and it was even better than expected! We had a scheduling issue and Antonio was able to accommodate us immediately. He then picked us up in a comfortable private vehicle with ac and really took the time to get to know us but also educated us a lot about the history of Mexico and Sayulita. Antonio was able to give us our space to walk around and explore on our own and then took us to a private beach where we were the only ones enjoying a breathtaking view. While we walked along the beach and enjoyed a few waves, he made the most delicious 3 course meals. His hospitality, thoughtfulness and service made all the difference in this excursion being one of our top favorite. Thank you!!
The tour with Jose was definitely a highlight of our trip! He was very personable and shared detailed history and culture of various areas en route, including a stop at a road side market. After tacos and a tour of Sayulita, Jose took us to a secluded beach where he prepared a delicious meal. The food was beyond amazing and Jose was equipped with everything from beverages to towels. We highly recommend and will book again.
We had the most incredible day trip to Sayulita, and it was all thanks to our amazing guide, Antonio. From the moment the day began, Antonio made everything effortless and enjoyable. He arranged all the transportation, so we could sit back, relax, and take in the beautiful scenery without a worry in the world. Antonio greeted us with a warm smile and a delicious breakfast to start the day off right. Throughout the trip, he provided drinks, great conversation, and tons of interesting information about the area, culture, and local traditions. His deep knowledge and genuine love for his country made the experience truly special. One of the absolute highlights of the day was the incredible lunch. Antonio personally prepared zarandeado pescado, a traditional Mexican grilled fish dish, and it was hands-down one of the best meals we’ve had on our entire trip. Watching him cook and explain the process made it even more memorable—it felt like we were part of something truly authentic. Antonio was friendly, attentive, kind, and incredibly thoughtful the entire day. He anticipated our needs before we even asked and made sure every single person in the group felt comfortable, welcome, and engaged. By the end of the day, it felt like we were traveling with a good friend rather than just a guide. If you're considering a trip to Sayulita or anywhere nearby, do yourself a favor and book with Antonio. It will be one of the best decisions you make on your vacation! 10/10 – Can’t recommend him enough!
This was a great tour! One of the best days while in Puerto Vallarta! The town was beautiful & the private vehicle was far better than a bus. Antonio was wonderful.
I highly recommend this excursion to anyone looking for an authentic, special experience in the Nayarit region. Our host, Jose Antonio, was amazing - friendly, attentive, knowledgeable, and a fabulous chef! Sayulita is a magical, bohemian town, full of surfers, artisans and beachside bars. It was nice to have some time to explore on our own before heading to our BBQ on a secluded beach. It was a short hike down to the waterfront, where Jose Antonio set us up under umbrellas with cold drinks and fruit while he prepared a delicious fish dish on a makeshift grill on the rocks. It was just me and my 27-yr-old son, which made it all the more special, in particular because it was his first time visiting Mexico. A stray dog befriended us and sat in the shade of our umbrellas. The day couldn't have been better. I would book this again on a future visit.
Great overall time the food was amazing our guide’s took us to a great beach and cooked our food over open fire
Antonio (guide) was excellent. Stopped along way to try various fruits, which was a fun experience. Sayulita is a small beach community with a laid back sufer vibe. Shopping is minimal for men, but many for women. Stopped for tacos where I ate pork with catus for 1st time which was wonderful! While we wondered the town he took all the provisions and set up shop for the next beach stop, which was a lot to do alone! He took us to Hidden Beach where we relaxed and enjoyed the ocean view and tranquility. Almost a private beach with peace & quiet. The only noises heard were the crashing waves upon the shore. Antonio prepared a grilled lunch of locally caught seafood, which was excellent. (Kudos to his wife, mother & grandmother for his culinary skills.) Very knowledgeable & pleasant. We enjoyed our day and would recommend him as a tour guide to anybody.
We had an awesome time with Jose! He is very easy to talk with and so hospitable! From the moment of pick up to our drop off it was all planned out and so fun. The stop at the food stand was so interesting. We met the family who owned it and live there. We learned about Jack and Noni fruits. We tried samples of many things and purchased some items too. We were fortunate to see a processional in Sayulita the day we were there. It was fun to see the children parade, the horses ‘dance’ and hear the music. The town is very colorful and quaint. We enjoyed a taco with Jose and then had time to venture through town by ourselves. We had a beverage and watched the surfers at the beach. From there we went to the prettiest, hidden beach (no vendors and few people) and Jose made us a delicious meal. Best meal of the trip by far! Such a wonderful memory! We highly recommend this experience. Don’t miss out!
I really enjoyed this trip it was nice to see a bit more of Mexico and different beaches. We stopped at a roadside stand and tried different fruits and candies. I wish we had a bit more time to explore Seyulita but maybe next time. The hidden beach was such a cool experience but the waves were rough!! Knocked me over and filled my suit with sand!! I am just glad no one saw me lol!! The guides were great and so was the communication. Absolutely 💯% recommend!!
Excellent trip. Antonio was the perfect host. The attention to detail and the meal prepared were outstanding. I would definitely recommend this trip experience.
The tour was everything we had hoped and probably even better. We had time alone to explore and watch some surfing from the beach. The grilled fish on the beach was outstanding! I would highly recommend.
The best tour we have done so far. José was wonderful from the time he picked us up until drop off. He went out of his way to ensure we had everything we needed. While Sayulita was fun, the highlight was the grill on the private beach. Tasty food superbly prepared. Time to relax, walk the beach and relish the view. Thank you for an amazing day.
This experience was truly amazing—one of a kind! Jose was absolutely wonderful and went above and beyond to make our day special. The little tour was a perfect mix of adventure and relaxation, taking us to a stunning private beach where we enjoyed breathtaking views and tranquility. Jose prepared a delicious lunch for us, and the highlight of the morning was discovering the best breakfast tacos we've ever had. From start to finish, everything was thoughtfully planned, and Jose’s warmth and hospitality made it unforgettable. I highly recommend this tour for anyone looking to explore hidden gems and enjoy a truly personalized experience!
The very best tour we have ever been on. Antonio is both delightful and knowledgeable about Sayulita and the surrounding area. Great transportation to and from Sayulita along with probably our best meal of the entire trip prepared for us on a beautiful hidden beach. The grilled red snapper and shrimp were just so perfect as we relaxed on the beach after the tour of Sayulita. It takes the entire day but it’s just so worth it. The tour is limited to just two couples (we had a fun and extremely interesting couple from Texas) so sign up now. Don’t miss this tour!
We were supposed to travel with another couple but they cancelled, so we had the guidance and knowledge of Antonio all to ourselves. Antonio told us about the history and current changes happening in this beautiful Oceanside town. He treated us to some of the best coffee and tacos we’ve ever had, and showed us around the plaza and beach access. After a brief orientation we were set loose for a few hours of shopping and window shopping of some very unique items. Later, we gathered at his vehicle and were taken to a beach off the beaten path where we were treated to a four-course grilled lunch including fresh fruit, bean taco, and finally the Zarandeado snapper and shrimp on a skewer. Nothing short of remarkable. And for the last course, some sweet treats custom made for his tours Overall: AAA+ I would definitely recommend!
This is such a fun trip! Antonio was amazing and thought of everything. Saulita is a funky bohemian town that is so picturesque. The wonderful lunch on the beach was superb. The food just kept coming, and it was so delicious. This truly is a great experience not to be missed. So happy we did it! Thank you Antonio!
The entire day was one of the best experiences of my life. Antonio was prepared in every way. He was very friendly, helpful, and provided great conversations about life, family, and his beautiful country. I cannot recommend this enough. Would 100% do this every time I am here Food 20 out of 10 Experience 20 out of 10
Antonio was amazing with this trip delivering everything we expexged. We found out about this excursion via a Aly Smalls youtube video. Saluyita was a joy to visit and ideal for those wanting variety from Puerto Vallarta. The secluded beach and meal was amazing. 10 out 10.
Out of our seven visits to Puerto Vallarta and surrounding areas, we have to say Antonio's "Sayulita Surfer Beach Town and Zarandeado with Seafood Grill" tour was our most memorable! Antonio was in incredible guide-informative, kind, attentive and safety orientated. His knowledge of the Sayulita area and jungle proved to be most educational. We did a short hike through the jungle, which opened to a private beach. He set up an incredible dining sight with a most spectacular view. "Chef" Antonio then proceeded to create the most delicious four course culinary experience. It was a 5-Star delight! We highly recommend this unique tour! Thank you Antonio! Donna, Guy and Pamela
Antonio spent time with us in Sayulto and then gave us time to shop. The best part of the trip was the secluded beach with umbrellas, table and chairs and a wonderful BBQ meal included fruit, bbq shrimp kabobs then delicious fish and sides. Wonderful day and Antonio was very pleasant and knowledgeable. I will do it again. There was myself and 2 of my girlfriends.
Jose the tour guide was very good communicating with me. He pucked us up and another couple, out of town we went. He stopped at a roadside fruit stand, we got to try different fruits. Then to Sayulita. We had tacos for lunch in town then he gave us time to wander on our own. At the meeting time he took us to the hidden beach. Nothing in the tour description spoke about the difficult and at times steep trail to the beach. If you have mobility issues, don't pick this particular tour. I barely got myself back up the trail. Lunch was good, too much food. I felt like we spent too long at the beach as you could not swim in the strong surf. The other couple mentioned this too. Over all it was a nice day. Jose is a very nice man.
This experience was amazing. I had a very good time. The food he made was delicious. I would recommend this to any one that visits Puerto Varllata. We came on Mexico Independence day. Viva Mexico
Jose was amazing 🥹 such a great tour! I’ve already recommended his tour to many of my friends. Definitely a highlight on our trip!!! You won’t regret booking with him
This was truly one of the highlights from our trip! Jose was an amazing tour guide. From the fruit stand stop, to the main square at Sayulita and then to the most beautiful secluded beach area, it was all phenomenal. But the true star of it all was Jose cooking for us. All I can say is WOW!!! This is a MUST do tour!!!! The best of both worlds, some culture and then relaxation. Do not hesitate and just book this tour with Jose!
It was such a lovely day and a definite highlight of my stay in PV. Antonio was so kind and accommodating. He was a fun and delightful host. His car with AC and cold drinks may the trip super nice. We stopped a produce stand and had the opportunity to sample a variety of fruits and local foods with Antonio's explanations. Afterwards, Antonio treated us to tacos in Sayulita, gave us a preview of the town, and then we were able to explore for a couple hours on our on. Afterwards, our group met up and we were off to a beautiful secluded beach where we spent a few hours playing in the ocean and indulging in an AMAZING meal Antonio bbq'd for us. We had a fresh papaya, mango, pineapple...scrumptions bbq'd snapper, rice, beans, tortillas heated on the grill, cold soft drinks and adult beverages, and dessert. We couldn't have possibly ate it all, but it was so yummy we tried! I highly recommend this tour!
It's hard to put into words how amazing this was. We were in Puerto Vallarta for my wife's Birthday trip and had Tony picking us up to the Sayulita day. He's an amazing person, genuinely taking care of us and telling us everything about the places we went to. Besides all of that he's also a great cook, and tasting the Mexican flavors by the sea on a beach barely touched by people was fantastic. I can't wait to have the chance to go back and of course, I highly recommend Tony.
This was an absolutely amazing experience. My wife suggested this tour based on the previous written reviews and a YouTube review and it far exceeded our expectations. Antonio is a fantastic guide that explained the history, culture, and traditions of this region. The small group setting (5 total) makes this a mostly private tour at an exceptional price. The Patzcuaritos beach was incredible and the Zarandeado meal was our favorite meal on the entire vacation. We had a great time during our entire week in Mexico but this day spent with Antonio ranks number one for most enjoyable experience.
Tony was so super knowledgeable, friendly and accommodating. We did this tour with our 3.5 year old and he made sure we all felt comfortable and unrushed. The only thing better than him was him food 😉. Will recommend him to any and all!
Truly I cannot express just how special this day trip is. Every little thing was magical! From the moment we met up with Jose Antonio & Yahir, we were made to feel special in every way. These awesome gents are so cool, engaging, knowledgeable, and just a total joy to spend the day with. We were taken to a funky, roadside farm stand for some candy tasting & little shopping, then off to the surfer town of Sayulita. After just a few hours there I can see why so many people want to permanently stay. It's so funky, hippy, old-school... We spent time at the hippy & local artisan market, had a shot (or 2) at Luna's Cafe, explored the town, and just enjoyed the good vibes of the locals. From here, we went to our very own secluded beach outside of town, and through, what felt like the jungle of coastal Mexico, we hiked a short distance to the most magical spot where we had private massages and our own, little camp spot for the day. JA & Yahir grilled us up the most incredible, traditionally prepared snapper, shrimp skewers, rice, beans, appetizers, cold drinks and so much more! I cannot brag about this trip enough! Oh, and did I mention the sweetest beach dog in the whole world? What a special little treat for a group of animal lovers! This day trip is a must-do when visiting PV and Sayulita. Thank you so much, Jose Antonio for making our day so very special.
I have been struggling to write this review as it is that good! I think this is the best tour in PV. I would give it 10 stars if I could. Jose Antonio Garcia Rivas and Yahir and just the best! From the beginning to the end, every detail was thoughtful and special. We were taken to a small roadside farm stand for a little shopping, then off to Sayulita for a couple of hours of exploring this awesome little community, shopping at the hippy market and artisan market. I can see why so many people come here and never return home. It's that special. We stopped off at Luna's Cafe and had a couple of tequila shots and then we headed out to Playa Patzcuarito. This was like stepping into a private paradise. There are just not enough !!! to describe how awesome this beach is. While here, JA arranged for us to have private massages on the beach while he & Yahir cooked us up the BEST traditional styled seafood, shrimp skewers, peppers, guacamole, rice & beans. Everything was prepared to perfection! We sat in cozy outdoor rockers with a nice, big sunshade to keep us cool. Oh and while we were enjoying our time at the beach we even had our very own beach dog that hung out with us. She was awesome! You can't plan this sort of special detail for a group of animal lovers. That was the cherry on top for us! Again, I cannot express enough just how special this tour is. If I should ever return to PV I will take this tour again. Thank you so much to Jose Antonio & Yahir. You both made this a truly magical experience!
Jose was amazing from the start. Meeting at the Starbucks was easy, and Jose’s energy was so welcoming and joyful. He was informative on the drive, and the first stop at the fruit stand was awesome. Sayulita was great to explore. Then making our way to the more secluded beach, food Jose cooked was Amazing! Highly recommend for anyone looking for a more intimate experience in Mexico.
This trip was a great way to go to Sayulita. Sayulita offers time to relax and see authentic Mexican town.. Lunch at the beach was excellent. Food was freshly cooked and very tasty. It is right length,, little over half a day. Highly recommend to couples
My husband and I were totally spoiled as the only two on this tour. From information about Puerto Vallarta and Sayulita to the absolutely amazing lunch on the beach, Tony delivered! The meal he made on the beach was (no joke) the best meal I've ever had! We, also, booked the natural springs and massage tour on a separate day and I'm so thankful we did! Tony has created a magical tour company and has an awesome crew of guides!
This trip was a perfect way to get out of Puerto Vallarta when the cruise ships are docked. My wife and I enjoyed this for a many reasons. First, our guide (Sergio) picked us up in front of our hotel and we didn’t have to worry about transportation whatsoever. We stopped at a roadside fruit stand and Sergio showed and gave us samples of a few fruits. While Sergio picked up some fruit for our lunch, we purchased an assortment of fruits to take back to our hotel. We then arrived in Sayulita and got a few hours to take in the sights and shop the local markets. Sayulita is a quaint little town with a nice vibe, and if you’re looking for some locally made jewelry we found more artisans with nicer quality jewelry here as opposed to Puerto Vallarta. That took us to lunch time and Sergio drove us a short distance from Sayulita to a beach that we almost had entirely to ourselves. That’s where Sergio had a table, umbrella and cold drinks already waiting for us! Sergio then proceeded to grill up the fresh vegetables/fruits as well a shrimp and fresh red snapper. We got a few hours to enjoy the food, drinks and walks on the beach. We truly enjoyed our time Sayulita and beach time. We can’t say enough great things about Segio - he’s genuinely kind and really wanted to show us the best of Mexico on this all day excursion!
The beaches were pristine and beautiful, there are several close by (walking distance) that barely had anyone on them.
How to rephrase what everyone else has said…this will undoubtably be the highlight of our 10 days in PV. A fantastic study in contrast - from exploring the vibrant and intriguing chaos of the streets of Sayulita to suddenly and in only a few minutes being transported to a massive beach with less than 20 people on it with preset chairs and umbrellas and to be treated like royalty with an incredibly diverse and delicious meal by Antonio traditionally prepared on the same beach. He is gracious, immensely knowledgeable, well spoken, and a joy to converse with. To have him join us for our royal lunch was so appreciated. And just the two of us and him. We felt so privileged and part of something meaningful. Thank you Antonio, you have made a permanent warm memory for two Canadians.
We highly recommend the Sayulita town and the Zarandeado sea food experience with Antonio. Antonio arrived on time to pick us up at the pick up location in the Zona Romatica. We then drove to Sayulita and just outside the town we stopped at an outdoor fruit and candy market to sample and buy a variety of local fruit and sweets. He then drove us to Sayulita and bought us pastries and coffee and gave us 2 hours to explore the little town of Sayulita. He then took us to a hidden away local beach which was the highlight of the trip. He set up beach chairs and umbrellas for us to be comfortable and let us enjoy the beach while he prepared the food. We were served 3 courses. First one was delicious fresh fruit which he had bought from the fruit market where we stopped earlier. The second was tostadas. The third was the delicious red snapper grilled in the zarandeado style, prawn kebabs, avocado and warm tortillas. That was one of the best grilled fish I've ever had. As a final touch, we were served delicious Mexican chocolate for dessert. Beer, Wine Coolers, Water and a special type of mezcal called Raicilla were served for drinks. There was so much food we couldn't even finish all of it. Antonio spoke perfect English so there was absolutely no problem with communication. Throughout the trip we were able to converse with him which made the whole trip even more enjoyable. This was one of the best things we did while in Puerto Vallarta and we highly recommend it.
This was our second trip with Antonio, last year we went to the hot springs with him and heard about this trip to Sayulita. When we came back to PV one year later we decided to book this excursion. As expected the experience was awesome, Antonio and Sergio picked us up on time and we started our journey. The drive was comfortable and we made a stop at a local fruit stand where we got to try different fruits and Mexican candies. After that we made our way into Sayulita where we were given a short tour and then had 2 hours to explore the cities and local markets. After the 2 hours, Antonio picked us up and took us to the hidden beach where a shaded picnic spot had already been set up on the beach. Sergio was already preparing food for us and cold drinks were waiting. The beach was wonderful, empty, and the food was great. We were first given a plate filled with fruit from a local market. Then the main course came out and which consisted of shrimp skewers, red snapper that had been marinated in a variety of spices (delicious), and all the fixings to make tacos. We then spent another hour or more at the beach, swimming, hanging out, talking with our hosts. What I enjoy most about these trips with Antonio is the ease, everything is already thought about ahead of time, there is no upselling or hidden costs, just sit back and enjoy the experience. The food is great, local, and fresh, you will not be left hungry. Antonio and Sergio are very accommodating, knowledgeable, hospitable, and downright good people to be around. It’s hard to be beat the value for this trip, I will definitely be going on another one with these guys.
Antonio and Sergio are friendly, knowledgeable, and thought of everything to make this trip a highlight of our time in Mexico. Not only are they great guides, they made a gourmet meal for us on the beach near Sayulita. A day of absolute ease and relaxation. Last year, we booked their hot springs tour and it was a delight to reunite with Antonio and Sergio for this adventure. Thank you so much!
Amazing local spots and views (especially the remote beach!). Tony was an awesome guide/host for my aunt and I! He was very kind and knowledgeable.. he explained the traditions and customs of the area and this was especially helpful for us as first time visitors. He made the experience feel even more unique and was very thoughtful in what he provided. It felt very exclusive and we felt more like locals than tourists. I could not recommend this tour (or any of his others) more!! We would do it again. (:
