Sayulita Local Flavors

Our tour of Sayulita with Moises was a wonderful way to spend the day and a highlight for my partner and I on our trip! Our tour guide, Moises, was friendly, knowledgeable, patient and knew the best local spots as well as the history of Sayulita and Mexico. He was so easy to be around and we had so much fun exploring the town with him. We ate good food, authentic tacos, great coffee and artisan chocolate- each with a wonderful story behind the food and the people. We visited the Hippy market and got a good lesson in the culture behind the crafts. We also received great recommendations from Moises on further ways to explore the city- hiking and beach recommendations, as well ans best margaritas in town etc. We can’t recommend this tour enough! Come hungry, be prepared to walk a few miles but nothing difficult, and enjoy the open dialogue and heart that Moises brings to the tour!

What a fun day. Sayulita is a cute little town and lunch at Mary's was outstanding. It was fun spending time with Alejandro who shared interesting anecdotes about local customs, history, food, flora & fauna, and life in Jalisco and Nayarit.

My husband & I had never been to Sayulita before, and decided a guided tour would be the best choice for us. We got so much more than we expected. Alejandro (our guide) picked us up at our hotel and took us on a truly cultural journey. We enjoyed every moment; the cacao museum, delicious street tacos, road side grocery (where we purchased fresh pineapple and bananas), and a couple other cultural surprises along the way. We were in Sayulita before we knew it, exploring the streets, having a delicious lunch at Mary's, and checking out the vibrant beach. Alejandro answered all our questions throughout the day (and we had many) and tailored the experience to our abilities and interests. I would highly reccomend this tour.

Amazing time and amazing guide. Very knowledgeable and knew many people as we walked thru the streets. Very comfortable transportation and extremely knowledgeable regarding the town, the area and of course the food! Will use again and refer to others.

I had a wonderful time with Alejandro and Miguel. Their English is very good and they were full of information. They told us to come hungry and they meant it! We ate a lot of delicious food! One of the best tours I have been on. We are coming back to Puerto Vallarta in 2 months and I will be reaching out for more from Luna Tours.

Our tour guide, Alejandro, was outstanding— knowledgeable, easy-going and attentive to our preferences. He was a good conversationalist, but also gave us our space, letting us really enjoy our time in Sayulita — and the food choices were a lot of fun. I don’t like tours but would definitely take another with Alejandro. This was among the best tours I have ever taken.

Alejandro was an excellent guide with lots of interesting information on the Nayarit area both historical and current day. We especially enjoyed the Planeto Cacao , tasty and informative. Our guide chose a delicious variety of food and drink with lots of opportunities to explore and shop Sayulita. We will send our family with him next time we’re visiting.

Alejandro was fantastic! He is very knowledgeable about Mexico and the diverse cultures, foods, and languages. He took us on a little food tour of Sayulita, including a stop at a cocoa spot while en route to Sayulita. I cannot recommend him enough! If you’re in Puerto Vallarta and want to check out Sayulita, Yelapa, or any other day trips, Alejandro is your guy! When we are back in Puerto Vallarta, we will definitely hit him up!

Alejandro was a wonderful guide. Not only was he great at what he does and very informative but he was also kind, thoughtful and generous. I love that he offers small group tours in this case it was just my family and him. We started with a stop at a Juan’s Birriería. Best consume I’ve ever sipped on. We then went to learn about the cacao pods and how we use them to make all kinds of chocolate. My favorite part was going to Sayulita. Un pueblito. I appreciate Alejandro for taking us to experience true authentic local living. It was beautiful to feel. So thank you Alejandro for your beautiful soul! This was my favorite tour of the trip.

I highly recommend this experience. It was amazing. The opportunity to experience Mexican culture via local food and streets was one of the highlights of our trip. I had the best tacos of my life and the people are so warm. You won’t be disappointed!

WOW!! What an amazing day we had on this Sayulita Cultural and Food tour with Alejandro, tour guide and of owner of Luna Tours and Hiking. This tour was the absolute highlight of our vacation in Puerto Vallarta. Alejandro is an amazing tour guide, actually, he is the best tour guide, host, and an exceptional ambassador for this region. He is a very humble, easygoing, relaxed, flexible, kind, and considerate man with integrity. He is a very safe driver. We truly enjoyed spending a day of our vacation with him. This tour focuses on the simple beauty and the local cuisine of the region, and specifically Sayulita, a favorite go to spot for many of the Puerto Vallarta locals for night life. Alejandro’s tour was delightful. We walked at a relaxed pace while Alejandro shared with us many things about the town, its history, its local Catholic Church, the culture, the local produce, and the local people. I don’t recommend eating too much before this tour. We didn’t eat breakfast and we were so glad for that because by the end of this tour, we were so full that lunch wasn’t possible. This tour allowed us to experience the incredible flavors of the local cuisine made with care by the local street vendors. Quite, honestly, the food was so delicious, and we were able to meet these hardworking local vendors, while exploring the colorful and beautiful town of Sayulita.   We leisure shopped on the Main Street and in the town center where local street vendors also gather. We enjoyed our visit at the local surfing beach, Playa De Los Muertos. This tour truly was a wonderful and enjoyable experience that we will always remember. We enjoyed it so much, we will do it again next year with the rest of our family.

Moisés was very knowledgeable, respectful, and friendly. Even though the birria place was closed, he made sure to take us somewhere else just as good with mole tacos and other local specialties such as local traditional cacao and even went above and beyond on the way back by getting us an extra icy dessert treat. Definitely book. Rich with culture if you want to immerse yourself while learning something new about the area.

Our family of four greatly enjoyed our tour with Alejandro at Luna Tours. We learned so much about the culture and area, ate wonderful food, enjoyed Agua de cacao and all had so much fun. We highly recommend!

The food on the tour was excellent especially the La Birria. Our guide was very knowledgeable and passionate about the area and town. I highly recommend.

My boyfriend and I took ourselves to Puerto Vallarta. We had a guide who was very patient with our shopping stops. Sayulita is a great place to visit. He said the Market is only open on Fridays and I would highly suggest not missing the market. We got to taste great tacos with a. Delicious consume soup. This is a half of day activity. Bring comfortable walking shoes and lots of cash to buy the beautiful things the town offers. Our guide told us about the history of the town and the meaning of many of their decoration. We will return to PV and stay longer next time. We will include the sayulita tour again.

This guided trip to Sayulita was a wonderful experience. All of the taco stops were absolutely delicious and trying aguas frescas was a big hit with everyone! Learning more about the culture of the town was special and the drive from Puerto Vallarta to Sayulita allowed us to see a little more of Mexico. Alejandro, Moises, and Tony are all passionate about sharing Mexico with visitors. They were very accommodating, picking us up directly from our lodging as opposed to their usual meeting spot. Everyone loved the beef birria and the mahi mahi fish taco and marlin empanadas were awesome too! What a beautiful experience, for couples or families to escape from the bustle of Puerto Vallarta to a more relaxed atmosphere in Sayulita. 10/10 would highly recommend following Luna Tours anywhere! Our group of 6 adults and 3 children took two of their tours during our stay in Puerto Vallarta, and I’m sure any other tour they offer would be worth while.

We had the most amazing time! Wonderful stops, gorgeous beaches, delicious food, and informative Spanish lesson from our tour guide :) We really enjoyed the day - highly recommended!

Alejandro showed us excellent local food selections, and pointed out authentic artists and vendors. He was very knowledgeable about the best areas to see in this town, which is even more beautiful than it is busy, and can be easy to fall into the tourist traps without such an experienced guide. He took fantastic care of our small group and made sure everyone's needs and interests got enough time at each spot. Would highly recommend this tour, with Alejandro

I have been to Sayulita before but our guide Alejandro made the trip much better than going solo. He knows all the best places to eat and where to find authentic crafts, not mass produced junk. It was a perfect day trip from PV. Definately recommend

The guide Alejandro was very attentive, he was friendly, you feel safe when you arrive at the beach and you know which guide will be waiting. Besides, he took very cool photos of us.
