Time to operator and driver was amazing. Chema was so friendly and energetic and Nettie were terrific and the tour exceeded our expectations. I’m so happy that we were able to get this tour together today. Tour exceeded all expectations. that we needed every step of the way.

Itinerary
This tour can depart from Puerto Vallarta
This tour can depart from Nuevo Vallarta
Marvel at this beautiful remote village and the mountains carpeted in dense tropical vegetation. To arrive in San Sebastian del Oeste is to take a step back in time. This antiquated town dates back to 1605 and was made famous by its plentiful silver mines. Today, with only 600 inhabitants, there are scattered examples of its traditional colonial architecture merging with a colorful village square, quaint cobblestone roads, passing mules and a sleepy way of life far removed from the rest of the world. Your day includes a walking tour of the 18th century church, a silversmith workshop and an organic coffee farm. This expedition is not for the average tourist but for a traveler who seeks to find the real Mexico.

Absolutely wonderful experience. Nothing about this tour felt forced or manufactured, although obvs it was. It just goes to show how much care went into it. I enjoyed every single stop and spent money with each vendor because they and their products were magnificent. Our guide was possibly the best tour guide I’ve had in over 20 years of traveling the world. He didn’t take a breath or a seat until we were on the way back. So knowable and attentive. He obviously cares a great deal about culture and customers. He went above and beyond to provide an excellent experience for everyone. This tour was a godsend for someone who doesn’t really like the beach in PVR!
We had a wonderful day trip to San Sebastián Del Oeste with our excellent guide Franco, driver Julio, and photographer Jacob. The stops at the bakery, coffee farm, agave field, tequila distillery, and then the magical village were all unique, educational, and interesting places we would not have found on our own. The custom-made lunch was delicious and they were able to accommodate the vegetarian in our group. The van felt safe and comfortable. Our only minor complaint was having to pick up one passenger at Vallarta Adventures in Puerto Vallarta when everyone else in the group (10 people) got on the van in Nuevo Vallarta. It seemed like a lot of unnecessary driving time in the van for that one passenger. It was a great day, though, and we were happy to spend time seeing a piece of Mexico other than the beaches and resorts of Nuevo Vallarta.
Amazing history and culture. Food was wonderful and they accommodated my dietary needs. Diego was amazing as a guide, knowledgeable and a lot of fun! Would do it again!
Our tour to San Sebastian was amazing! We stopped by some agave fields, local tequila distillery, got to see behind the scenes of a coffee production shop, had some delicious lunch and got to visit the beautiful town of San Sebastian. The best part was the wonderful staff. Franco is a very knowledgable and friendly guide, Andrea was great at snapping some amazing photos and Jakob got us there safely. Thank you Vallarta Adventures and your fabulous team!
Excellent tour to get out of main Puerto Vallarta and enjoy the landscapes, historic town, tequila distillery, agave fields, coffee plantation, and see another side of how people live.
Amazing! We had a lovely day exploring the culture of the area. Franco and Jacob were exceptional. The lunch was one of the best meals we had on our vacation. The tequila distillery was the highlight as the owner is so passionate about his product. The tequila and racialla were so smooth!! The coffee plantation was so picturesque. San Sebastián de Oeste is treasure. We want to come back and stay I. The town for a more extended experience. This tour company is legit. It is clear they value the people and history of this region.
Chema was our tour guide on the Historic San Sebastián tour from the Carnival Cruise. Omar drove us around safely… One thing is for sure… Chema made this experience wonderful! Thanks for the laughs and the great time!!!
Chema is amazing!!! 1000% recommened!
Awesome guide super entertaining. Very knowledgeable, I learned a lot.
Amazing tour guide Diego and Driver! Very knowledgeable, area history on the way to the sites and fun trivia on the way back.
Wonderful! Lovely day trip to see some very interesting places and great experiences!
“We did the San Sebastián Tour yesterday, and had Franco as our tour guide. Wow. Franco’s passion for Mexico’s people, culture and history is incredibly inspiring, and we were very impressed with his knowledge and dedication to his job and to his team. I felt his passion, and it made me feel honored to be in Puerto Vallarta” — Ken W. (Friends From Alaska!)
Wow! What energy joy and fun we had with Franco, Santiago y Jenny! They were so awesome!
The tour guide was super knowledgeable. The tour itself was full of history, culture, and greenery. Highly recommended for those who want to get a short getaway from the hot beaches.
Juan Carlos (tour guide) and Neri (driver) were excellent. Juan Carlos was very knowledgeable about the history of the tour. He was very entertaining throughout the tour. Neri was a very good driver and kept the tour bus very clean before the passengers boarded each time. Highly recommended this tour company! We had a great time.
San Sebastián del Oeste is very small and remote--it's a very long ride! The stops at the cacao shop and the tequila tasting were fun and broke up the trip. Our lunch that day was great. San Sebastian is cute and has some great artisan shops. Our favorite was the artists' co-op which had beautiful obsidian items, soft woven blankets and scarves, and embroidered table linens. The peanut brittle shop is also a must.
Chema was a great host and Jacob a fantastic driver. Had a good trip. Very interesting and informative. Would recommend especially if you like history.
The tour to San Sebastien del Oeste is perfect for those looking to learn more about local history and traditions on a fun trip into the Sierra Madre. Diego Chihuahua is a true entertainer and fantastic host for this trip, along with Julio the driver, and Jésus the photographer, who were great as well. The lunch prepared by chef Alex is absolutely incredible and really puts this tour above some of the others you might find. If you do go on this tour, just know that you don't have to buy any extras at the various stops. The offer is always there as you see the variety of artisanal goods, which give you options of souvenirs, but if that's not your thing just move along. The first stop at the bakery on the side of the road is a must try though. Do not sit that one out. I marked this as a family outing even though I arrived alone, as Diego makes sure that everyone knows you are his (and each other's) family for the day. It's not often you get to know all the people on your tour so well and make better connections than the usual passing conversation. As with any adventure keep an open mind and you will always have a better experience. Some things might not be perfect going to San Sebastian, but the guides and attitude of your family for the day make all the difference.
Christian our driver did a great and safe job on mountainous and unpaved road. Juan Carlos was extremely knowledgeable on the history of the town and the history of Mexico.
Cristian (our driver) and Diego (tour guide) were wonderful. We enjoyed the historical overview of Mexico Diego provided on the way to San Sebastián and the walking tour at this beautiful town. This is my 2nd tour and my daughter and I were not disappointed. I would go again.
The town is completely torn up, nothing but heavy equipment. Maybe next year completed. Had been there 5 yrs ago and wanted to revisit.
My husband and I absolutely LOVED this tour. Our Tour Guide, Juan Carlos, is absolutely AMAZING. He and Nellie (Driver) are the perfect pair! We learned so much about the history of San Sebastian (and Mexico as a whole) because of Juan Carlos! He is such an amazing story teller and incorporates the perfect amount of humour into the history that will stick with you. This is a longer tour of 8 hours or so and I was always entertained by what Juan Carlos was saying. The activities on this tour are perfect - a scenic drive, stop at a coffee plantation, San Sebastian, and Tequila/Mezcale tasting. I highly recommend this tour for a full day of fun and if you have Juan Carlos as your tour guide you really lucked out. San Sebastian is absolutely beautiful and refreshing. We had a delicious lunch in San Sebastian and were taken care of so well the whole time. Thank you Juan Carlos! Hope to see you again!!
Fantastic trip with Marylou! Very knowledgeable, lots of history and so friendly. Thanks!
This tour was slightly disappointing for us. Mostly, it was because of the ongoing construction in the main square which did not allow us to truly enjoy the the place. Also, we were not quite prepared for the cobblestone walkways which made it difficult to walk at times, especially if you have any back issues and so forth. The tours along the way to this destination were very interesting and worthwhile (tequila distillery and coffee farm). Because of the recent turmoil in the Puerto Vallarta area, we went through 3 military checkpoints on the way to San Sebastian del Oeste. It was a little unnerving but left us feeling safe should anything erupt.
Our travel 2 San Sebastian started on time in our van of 14 adventurers & 4 Vallarta Adventure employees. Marylou, our guide, wuz full of info, made sure we were always accounted for & taken care of. The ONLY disappointment on our way 2 our destination, wuz that the halfway stop @ the coffee & pastry shop wuz not open! There wuz military presence upon entry In San Seb. Which made us feel very safe! We stopped @ a family run coffee business, museum, handmade silver jewelry shop, purchasing homemade peanut brittle, town centre & finally a family run tequila distillery. In the middle of all this we ate a DELISH lunch provided by V.A.!! Back in PV 5pmish. XCELLENT excursion. Thank you to Marylou, Daniela & staff! Good runners/hiking shoes recommended, lots of walking on on uneven cobblestone! f&a. Ontario, Canada. ;0),
We had the team of Christian (driver) and Cherma. It truly was these two that made our whole experience amazing. The knowledge and fun that Cherma brought made it one of the best tours we have been on. To anyone that will be taking this tour, hope that you have them as it ended up way better than we were expecting. Gracious Amigos.
Our excursion with Vallarta Adventures SAN Sebastian was excellent. Our tour guide Franco was very informative and friendly. The lunch was excellent and Franco ensured that my wife’s food allergies were considered and that she also had an excellent lunch. The town was exactly what we were hoping to see with its old Mexican charm. The tequila tour was one of the best we’ve been to. The bakery we stopped at was incredible. It was a very fun day and we would highly recommend it.
Marylu the tour guide and Samate the driver were incredible for our San Sebastien dela Oueste tour. Marylu is very knowledgeable and gave us some really unexpected and interesting local information. The pace was excellent. We covered a lot of territory but never felt rushed. The lunch was about 100X better than we expected for a tour lunch. Crisp salads, tortillas and salsa, tacos, good beef, wonderful pineapple cake. Best margarita and limonada we have had yet! Plenty of cold water available in the van. Highly recommend this experience, especially with Marylu and Samate!
We so enjoyed our San Sebastian tour with our guide, Mauricio and driver, Ismael. Their knowledge of local history and agricultural practices was phenomenal/. We felt pampered and entertained and our meal felt very authentic!
Excellent tour. Jese was a great guide and Fernando was a great driver! Thai little town is a jewel and drive is beautiful.
Our guide Jimcha was great. He asked good questions so the tour would fit our expectations. His knowledge of the area was top notch and a good sense of humor to go with it. He was very helpful and kept the day very interesting.
The trip was very good. Both the driver and guide were excellent. My only slight criticism was the lunch. It was certainly fine, but just fine. The main course was pork tacos- good but underwhelming. The dessert was a small corn muffin-very underwhelming. This is nit picking I realize but just don't expect an amazing lunch as part of the day.
We LOVED this trip. We are on our honeymoon and it was a blast. Plus Diego Chihuahua & Omar (best bus driver & “bartender”) were so fun to spend the day with. We loved San Sebastián & even said had we went sooner in our trip we probably would have spent a night there because how fun it was! (We are 26 & 28 years old and loved it)
Great opportunity to meet the locals and engage with the history of the countryside. Franco and Nety were very knowledgeable and had great insights to the commerce and had friends at every stop we made. We surveyed agave fields, coffee plantations, roadside bakeries, and a fantastic tequila distillery. I would recommend this tour to anyone it was all inclusive and just the lunch and tequila tasting made the cost of the tour worth it.
Guide failed us. He completely ignored us. Didn't “guide” or tour at all. The town was beautiful but I know and learned nothing about it. This could have been so much better.
Fabulous trip to San Sebastián with Franco and Jacob who really took care of us. Lunch was delicious and it was so good to see the old town and the countryside
Our guide was Franco and our driver was Julio. The trip was fantastic. Franco pointed out agave fields and explained how it is farmed. They were very nice to provide multiple potty breaks. Franco was very knowledgeable about the history of San Sebastian. The lunch was excellent.
Chema and Omar took such good care of the group. Chema was so knowledgeable on many subjects and has a gift for connecting with his group. We would highly recommend this interesting tour to anyone.
This was a wonderful adventure. We got out and saw a magical town. Sofia our guide and our driver Iglesias where a wonderful duo. If you want to see more of Mexican life do this tour. You won't be disappointed.
Our trip to San Sebastian del Oeste was excellent. Our tour guide Chema was very knowledgeable about the history of San Sebastian. Our driver Christian made sure he got us there and back safely. We stopped at a tequila distillery where we got to taste some tequila. We stopped at a place where they grow and sell their coffee. We got to sample some. We stopped at a museum and church. We then had lunch which consisted of fajitas and appetizers. It was very good. We had some wine and offered other beverages. This was all included. On the way back we all played a game with Chema being the moderator. I would recommend this trip.
My girlfriend and I had a wonderful time exploring the various stops along this tour. Santiago was a great driver and was helpful throughout the day as well. Franco did a fantastic job all day - he was kind, pleasant, and his english was phenomenal. The tequila tasting was delicious and the host was very passionate and charming. We both enjoyed the lunch as well. I would recommend this tour to anyone looking for a slow-paced, informative tour, with a variety of locations and experiences. Thank you again to Franco who went over and above our expectations.
November 24, 2025 Mireille and Yvan from Canada Departure from Nuevo Vallarta We loved our tour and day to San Sebastian. Julio our driver was good, funny and very helpful all day long when we had stops. Franco our guide was fantastic, very knowledgeable, smiling, helpful, generous in his explanations, a very good English. A full day includes on our way to San Sebastian, visits to a bread factory, tequila tasting ( very interesting and yummy, nice place to buy gifts if you wish) , coffee tasting, beans plantations ( nice place to buy organic coffee), visit of an agave plantation/field. We saw avocado trees, eggplant trees, lime trees and so much more). In San Sebastian, we visited the museum and the church, had an excellent traditional meal and walked around for approximately an hour. San Sebastián is a charming village and it was nice to leave the city to go to the country. We discovered a beautiful country side area where fruits and vegetables, flours are an abundant. Was awesome, highly recommended! Franco is a wonderful guide and Julio an excellent driver. *We also went to Rythms of the nights, another MUST DO while in PV, was fantastic too Thank you again for this wonderful day!
Beautiful day. Chema was very knowledgeable guide and made trip interesting. We had fun day. Also, shout out to Julio who drove us around. We highly recommend for everyone who wants to take a day off from the beach 😀😊
The Trip was okay… unfortunately we had an extremely annoying tour guide named Alexa. Driver was great. Alexa was not. She made everyone feel like a child and belittled you. All I wanted to do was enjoy some views. Instead, it felt like a 5th grade field trip.
This was a perfect day to spend away from the beach and resort. We learned a lot about the history of San Sebastián and how it relates to PV of today. Juan Carlos was a knowledgeable and entertaining guide. Stops were well timed breaking up the drive perfectly. It was a slow paced and relaxing day, which was perfect for us. Lunch was delicious!
Excellent tour! Franco and Nery were fantastic as was the food, tequila and coffee. Franco was very knowledgeable, this trip was the highlight for my group.
Great experience great guide great driver Super informative super kind great van. I felt very taken care of the entire time with Alexa and our driver
Although it is an all day bus(air conditioned) adventure there are interesting stops to a family bakery, a coffee producer Mary La Quinta(only wish that we had bought more of their chocolate covered coffee beans), agave and Tequila(tasting) farm and historic San Sebastián which just turned 420 years old. Alexa our tour guide was enthusiastic and knowledgable about history. We learned about 3 original families who had kept the blood line for over 300 plus years, touring through Spanish inspired buildings, a walk back in time. Highly recommend tour if you visit Puerta Vallarta for a taste of true Mexican culture in a rural environment.
Franco was our guide and from the first minutes of the tour he took care of us like we were family. It's a bumpy, curvy ride so he put those subject to car sickness in the front of the small 15 passenger van. No one got car sick. He was interested in where we were from and what we wanted to see in San Sebastian. He was passionate about the history of the town and the area. Lunch was generous portions of delicious Mexican cuisine with wine or beer if desired. It was the best lunch of my entire vacation. Beautiful San Sebastian and its history of silver mining, coffee growing, and mesquite growing for tequila is essential to the colonial history of Mexico.
