Chef Enrique provided an exceptional tour and cooking class. He started with a market tour that included a detailed history of the tortilla and very helpful tips on buying fresh meat and produce. He then took us to his home where we proceeded to make a three course dinner as he walked us through all the prep and cooking steps. At the same time we made margaritas from scratch. The session finished with a wonderful dinner around his dining room table. He was personable, funny, and very informative. A definite highlight of our trip and we give it our highest recommendation.

Next, visit a local tortilla factory to purchase the dough that you'll use to roll out fresh tortillas.
Armed with fresh ingredients, head over to the master chef’s house to start your class. The main courses change daily (see Itinerary below), but expect to learn how to make salsa de molcajete (made in a mortar with fresh or dried chiles) and dessert. Then try your hand at anything from chiles rellenos and tamales to tacos and fish ceviche. Perhaps cook mole poblano and learn about the more than 27 ingredients, in addition to chocolate, that compose this delicious sauce. Top it off with a Margarita or a good Tequila! The best part of this class is that you get to eat what you cook. Sit down and enjoy of a well-earned feast and good conversation with the chef. All this in an authentic and warm: "Mi Casa tu Casa" atmosphere. At the end of the cooking class you can take a taxi or Uber from the house of Chef Enrique to your respective resort.

Our second time, highly recommend for anyone who enjoys cooking and eating. Very knowledgable, enthusiastic, friendly. Terrific experience at reasonable price..
Such a fun experience! Loved shipping in the local market and then helping prepare our meal. Enrique is very personable and makes the cooking class so fun. Wonderful experience!
Great food and good experience. Our second time here! Will do this again.
I have been to several cooking classes in various countries. This was the best! Starting with the market tour, where we gathered and learned about the fresh, local ingredients, to cooking in Chef Enrique’s own home—it was an amazing experience from start to finish! Chef Enrique provided exceptional information, history, instruction and expertise throughout the class that culminated in an amazingly flavorful and authentic meal and margaritas!
We absolutely loved this experience from beginning to end. The market tour was such a fun and authentic way to start the day, and we loved learning about the local traditions and ingredients and then picking up everything we would use for our meal. From there, the cooking experience was hands-on, relaxed, and so much fun. Chef Enrique, Carolina, and Eri were absolutely wonderful and made the entire experience so memorable. They were warm, welcoming, knowledgeable, and made us feel right at home. What really made the experience special was how personal it felt. It was so much more than just a cooking class. We learned about Mexican food and culture, laughed a lot, ate an incredible meal, and came away with memories we’ll be talking about for a long time. If you're visiting Puerto Vallarta and want an experience that feels authentic, interactive, and completely different from the typical tourist activities, book this class! It was easily one of our favorite things we did on the entire trip. We would recommend Chef Enrique, Carolina, and Eri without hesitation!
Chef Enrique class was the highlight of our trip! He picked us up at the Cruise terminal. We went to the market and he explained the different fruits, vegetable, information on meat and cooking, as well as spices. He took us to a tortilla factory and explained the process of making them. It was so uplifting to see everyone greet him with smiles and welcomes. After shopping, we went to his beautiful home and met his wife and his cousin. He explained what he was doing, how the spices changed the dish and included us in the preparation of the device, guacamole and chili rellenos. He made the BEST margaritas we have ever had. The food was delicious and beautiful. His wife was so kind and showed us how to make homemade tortillas. We enjoyed our time and wished it didn't have to end. Chef Enrique took us back to the Cruise Terminal since it was just the two of us. I would recommend this tour to anyone! I am sure it will be the highlight of your trip as well!
We had an amazing time learning and cooking! I loved how intimate it was, and the food was so tasty. We made many different salsas, soup appetizer and Birria tacos. Would definitely recommend this cooking class to others. 10/10 experience.
Enrique, Eri, and Carolina were fabulous hosts! Wonderful experience for all!!
We enjoyed the best time - from learning about Mexican cuisine, to how to find the best peppers on the market, to making delicious salsas, guacamole, ceviche, shrimp and more. Enrique and his family, and their beautiful home, were an absolute delight. We learned so much. It was the highlight of our vacation
Great experience. Comfortable, informative and fun. Would definitely recommend. Enrique, his wife and sister in law were fantastic. Very nice home and inviting.
Enrique was very informative about Mexican cuisine and culture. His wife and sister in law warmly welcomed us to their home for the cooking class. The food was delicious. It was well worth our time and money. We learned a lot.
My friend and I did the Market/Cookin Vallarta tour with Chef Enrique and it was fabulous! I didn't want to go on a cooking tour, but went to be a good host to my guest who really wanted to go....I am SO glad I did! This is not to be missed. We shopped at the market and learned about lots of ingredients (including tips on buying the freshest fish, the hottest chiles, etc.), and then went to Chef's home to cook. There were 8 of us, which was the perfect size. We made 6 salsas, birria with adobo sauce, squash blossom flower soup and homemade corn tortillas. The tortilla-making lesson was absolutely incredible, taught by Chef Enrique's wife. Take this tour! You won't be disappointed! I'm going to do it again next time in Vallarta.
Great tour guide! The market was fun. My daughters and I had a great experience The food was amazing. The house was super fun and eating family style with our group was the best
From shopping to cooking it was an all around blast! Enrique and his family made us feel right at home, it was a hands on experience. The salsas, guac, tortillas and meat were all delicious. It was a small world that he knew Easy from our Cabo cooking class. If you are looking for a fun, laid back and immersive activity to do in Puerto Vallarta, this class is a must do!
Highly recommend. Very good experience.
We had a wonderful experience with Enrique! Our group was very engaged and a pleasure to be around. Enrique's tour of the market was a great opportunity to learn about the local cuisine and how it relates to the local culture as well. And of course, the class itself was superb with impeccable instructions and masterful cooking. We would love to come back again someday.
This is a great way to meet new people and to learn about local food and the preparation thereof in a small group. Our chef was marvelous as were the two women who helped him. Good company, good food, and good drinks. I can't wait to try some of the recipes on my own!
This is a very fun and interesting cooking experience. It’s hands on, educational and delicious! I would highly recommend this experience.
We just got back from the cooking class Enrique hosted, and it was absolutely fantastic. I’ve taken his Taco Tours five times now, so saying I’m a big fan would be an understatement. Enrique is incredibly knowledgeable, charming, and just genuinely enjoyable to spend time with. I’ve done food tours in other places where they simply take you from stop to stop and say, “Here’s some food—hope you like it.” What makes Enrique so special is that he brings everything to life. He shares the history of the dishes, the culture behind them, the story of Puerto Vallarta, and the broader history of Mexico, all in such an entertaining and engaging way that it becomes much more than just a food experience. The cooking class followed that same spirit. We began by walking through a local market to select the fresh ingredients for the meal. Enrique explained each ingredient along the way and talked about why it’s important to the dishes we were going to prepare. From there, he welcomed us into his home and guided us step-by-step through preparing an incredible meal. As always, his passion and storytelling make the entire experience feel special. The best part, of course, is sitting down at the end to enjoy the meal you helped create—an absolutely delicious feast. It was the perfect way to end our trip to Puerto Vallarta. This was my sixth time doing one of Enrique’s tours or classes, and I can say with certainty it won’t be my last. Every time we’re in Vallarta, it’s something we look forward to doing again.
Such an amazing and informative experience. I would come back again to experience the other lessons. Have a small snack before the market because it smells so good! But not too big of a snack because you're fed well! 100/10 would recommend.
An amazing and enlightening culinary experience
Custom cooking at Enrique & Eri’s home. I was here with friends- there are 4 couples in our group. Absolutely fabulous!! We all were given tasks to contribute to the delicious meal. Super yummy. Never had a chile relleno like this before!
This experience was very fun as well as educational - we learned a lot about the food of the area as well as the cooking experience.
Today was our Mexican cooking class. What a truly fun experience! Enrique, along with his wonderful family, was a phenomenal host and guide, sharing their passion for cooking with us. We started at the @market, where we discovered the art of traditional tortilla-making and carefully selected the finest ingredients for our culinary creations. Then, we headed to Enrique's warm and welcoming home, where we prepped and crafted our delectable dishes with love and care. The cooking process was an absolute joy, and the food was nothing short of spectacular! We created Tamales with a rich Relleno sauce and savory Chile Relleno, complete with chicken, rice, and a decadent Mole sauce, accompanied by freshly made tortillas. This was my husband's and my fourth time, and Donnie's first, and we all left feeling inspired and eager to return. I highly recommend this extraordinary experience to anyone seeking a deeper connection with the rich flavors and traditions of Mexican cuisine.
A lot of good information about Mexican food and its history. We were well fed well and all was delicious. Loved the market time on how to select and use the fruits, vegetables and chilies.
Great tour of the market and tortilla factory. Learned about nixtamalization. Good balance of hands-on cooking and eating and margarita drinking. Prepare to stand for a while in the market, and always be in the way wherever you stand!
Wonderful experience! Enrique was a fabulous host and guide. The market tour was great, the cooking was fun and the food was tasty! Highly recommend!
Chef Enrique and Eri were wonderful hosts in their beautiful Puerto Vallarta home for an amazing cooking class. After shopping in a local marketplace, we made a few different types of fresh salsa, fish ceviche from scratch, fresh homemade tortillas, and finished the meal with octopus tacos and shrimp tacos in a lovely ancho chile crema sauce. The food was wonderful. The instruction was great. And the hospitality was amazing! I’ll be back and with friends!! Thank you!!!
Outstanding market and cooking experience. One of the best tours we have had in. Puerto Vallarta. The chef., Enrique was amazing. And his home and assistance and lovely wife were so pleasant. Would recommend this tour to anyone
Best meal of the week! Enrique and his wife Eri and friends are very friendly, hospitable and welcome you to their home. The seafood we cooked was the best we have had and the different salsas we made was amazing. This is our first cooking experience and will attend many more with the experience we had on this visit.
Amazing experience! Visiting the market for fresh ingredients and learning about the area from Enrique , then being invited to his home to cook was enjoyable for everyone!!! Must do!!
I had an amazing cooking tour today with Chef Enrique. He is incredibly knowledgeable, funny, and very welcoming. He walked us through everything step by step and taught us how to properly choose the best ingredients at the market. Such a fun and informative experience. 100% would do it again when I’m back in PV.
We did a Wednesday class, which for us meant seafood (octopus and shrimp) enchiladas and tostadas. Enrique walked us through the market, and showed us how to choose the freshest ingredients. Everyone in our group of six got a chance to participate in the prep and cooking at Enrique's house, and the results were delicious! You get a link to many more of Enrique's recipes at the end, too.
We had a great time with Enrique What an amazing host and chef. It was a wonderful seafood lunch, our 2nd with him.
We had an amazing time with Enrique! This is our 2nd visit. So enjoyable with great food, adventure, and recipes! We enjoyed visiting the Mercado!
What a lovely day. My daughter is visiting and we signed up for this seafood cooking class. Starting at the mercado, learning how to identify avocados that are ripe and ready to eat (later learned the best way to cut them safely and remove the pit). At the mercado, Enrique also showed us how to tell when shrimp is fresh, shared some mexican culture and food history. Picked up fresh vegetables, seafood and masa, then off to his kitchen to prepare a delicious meal. Started with Mahi Mahi ceviche tostada. Then the seafood tacos; tacos of Shrimp in poblano cream with a cilantro, pineapple salsa plus octopus with queso fundido and a blackened habanero salsa in homemade tortillas. Enrique showed us, taught us; assigned us all tasks to participate, then we sat together and enjoyed the ceviche and tacos we created. It was a fun and interesting group. The experience was delicious and fun! Oh, and he shared a link to his recipes - Thank You Enrique!
Came with my mom and had a wonderful experience, recipes were delicious, the location was spotless, instruction was phenomenal. Definitely something you should do if your in or around Vallarta
We were a family ranging in ages from 6 -69. From the pick up at our resort to our return, we all had a great time. This was probably the highlight of our trip to Puerto Vallarta. The market was full of fresh fruits and vegetables; some unfamiliar or much larger than they are in the US, We saw tortillas being made from the corn processing to the edible stages, - all explained with charm and friendliness. At the bright, open, and home of our instructor/ guide, we helped prepare tamales and chili rellenos ( stuffed poblanos, not the encrusted deep fried ones you find in a typical US Mexican restaurant). We also tried his favorite tequilas., complete with citrus and crunchy crickets(?). We ate at a beautiful, large square dining table. The meal was finished off with large pieces of flan. I almost forgot the iced hibiscus tea. The entire experience was like visiting with family members who happen to know what they’re doing in the kitchen and are happy to share that knowledge in a warm, funny, and most welcoming manner.
I loved this and would recommend it. As a solo traveler, this was a great way to see a little corner of the city, get more detailed cultural information from a friendly local, and learn some new cooking skills! I felt totally safe and taken care of the entire time. Enrique and his family are fantastic! Everything they made and helped us make was beautiful and delicious. I was there with a sweet family that completely adopted me for the morning/afternoon. The youngest in our group was 10 years old - and there was definitely activity that all of us could handle. Would plan to do this again with my kids! 🩷
It was a wonderful experience for a wide range of ages and cooking skill level. They had cooking activities for the kids that they could do. Everybody got to do things to help cook. We made a wide variety of food. All questions were answered. If you did not want to do something that was fine someone else would do it. He accommodated everyone’s comfort level. Bring water and a sun hat for the market part. It can get hot. The home was very nice, and had a bathroom we could use. The cooking area was extremely clean and Enrique was very focused on safety and cleanliness. Everything was well planned and org sized so we were sitting around waiting for things. It was a well timed good system. There was enough food for everyone. We all learned a lot about Mexico and cooking. We had a group of six and one other person did the class with us which ended up being really fun. It worked great and was fun to meet someone new in this environment.
This was a great experience. From the explanations of the stalls in the market to chef inviting us into his home to teach us. My father, brother in law and myself learned so much about Mexican cuisine. The Birria that we cooked was out of this world. While the meat was cooking Chef als made 5 salsas that were all very different and equally tasty. To finish the 5 hour experience we ate all that we made and had a fresh juice margarita made from green oranges. He was such a nice man, his wife was so welcoming. I 100 percent recommend this when you are in Vallarta on vacation. I will definitely book again should I head back.
Enrique and his family were lovely hosts and I got my opportunity to cook and eat octopus (pulpo) - an unexpected treat. So lucky we got to market on a good seafood day! It’s clear he has advanced talents in the kitchen. The sauces we made had such complex flavours.
From beginning to end I was learning and having fun! I just moved to PV, and starting this experience at the market was invaluable. Enrique told us things we didn’t even know to ask. I now know how to look at jalapeño peppers and tell which are the hotter ones! Then he took us to his beautiful home to cook and eat. It was amazing and I highly recommend this.
I went with my Aunt and had an absolute blast. The food was delicious, the teacher was good about showing and explaining what you want to see and look for in good ingredients. He also told me where to find a good molcajete.
Enrique is an amazing chef and he shares his knowledge and passion of cooking some amazing food! Highly recommended
The chef was very informative. The market tour was great. It was good except we didn't get any margaritas.
We leaned a lot about the culture, language, and people that make up the food we prepared. And the foods we made were delicious.
Enrique was very knowledgeable and took time to explain what and why for all the fresh fruits, vegetables, spices, and meats. The time at the market explained a lot. He and his wife did an awesome job at explaining the cooking methods and prep. The food was amazing.
Incredible experience with educational information at the local market, “helped” prep (but not heavily, thankfully as I’m not great with knives), and then we ate such amazing food. Fun to be in Enrique and Eri’s home. They are so gracious! Will make it hard to eat in average restaurants now 🙏🏽
