Private Tour, Sayulita & San Pancho

The absolute sweetest and most knowledgeable guide! We would go anywhere with him.

We hired this private tour for myself & husband. The tour guide was wonderful. He met us at the correct time & meeting space. He showed us sites along the route to Sayulita. We enjoyed everything he introduced us to in Sayulita. He chose a great place for lunch. The worst part was leaving Sayulita on our way out of town to see San Pancho. We got stopped by a Mexican policeman on a motorcycle. There was a car in front & behind us. We were not speeding or doing anything to warrant bringing attention to us. He pulled us over. The first thing he did was hold out his hand and ask for $60. Our driver informed him he had no cash. We don't know spanish,but the policeman kept repeating americanos, referencing us in the back seat. The driver became very emotional and stated that this happened to a friend 2 weeks prior & they confiscated his car. He had to pay $2000 to get it back. The driver complied with handing over his insurance, license & registration. The driver told us that we would have to find a taxi back to our cruise ship over an hour away. We had no idea how to go about doing this. We were very scared of this situation. The policeman then took off his front license plate & stated he would have to go to the station tomorrow to pay a fine to get it back. At this point we did not want to go to San Pancho & wanted out of Mexico as quickly as possible. We had the driver take us back to the ship. Our trip was ruined because of this. We witnessed the Mexican police corruption first hand & will NEVER GO BACK TO MEXICO AGAIN!

Alejandro was a fabulous guide. He stopped at a few sites along the way to our first town. He knows his way around Sayulita and chose a great place for lunch. We had a very enjoyable time in Sayulita. Now for the worst part. Shortly after leaving Sayulita, we were heading to San Pancho. We got pulled over by a motorcycle policeman. There was a car in front & behind us, so in no way were we speeding or doing anything to warrant being pulled over. The policeman came to the car and first thing he said with his hand out was give me $60 dollars. Our driver informed him that he did not have any cash. We asked what we did wrong. He ignored us in the back seat. Our driver complied with handing over his license, registration & insurance card. Our driver became very emotional stating that this happened to his friend 2 weeks prior & they impounded the car. He informed us that if this happened, we would have to find a taxi to get us back to our ship. We were over an hour away and had no way or knowledge to find a driver back. We were very upset about this corruption we were experiencing by Mexican police. We were held there for about 30 minutes before the policeman came back to the car. He then informed our driver that he was taking his license plate off his car and that he would have to go to the station the next day to pay a fine to get it back. When we were finally free, we no longer had time or the desire to see San Pancho. We just wanted to get back to the ship and out of Mexico. Very upsetting situation & because of this WE WILL NEVER GO TO MEXICO AGAIN!!

Alejandro was a great guide. I really liked that he knew his way around the towns and the area. He knew more than just San Pancho and Sayulita. He knew the area and other parts of Mexico. I got really good travel tips and advice. I saw beautiful murals and I learned so much about the Wixárika natives and traditional customs. Mary's is THE PLACE for lunch in Sayulita and Mexicolate is amazing chocolate for the end of the tour. I can't recommend this enough! Thank you Alejandro!

To say that this tour was extraordinary is, indeed, and understatement. Alejandro is so knowledgeable of the history, the culture, the cuisine, and wild environment of this region, and he is a master at describing it in detail and also in an interesting and understandable way My family and I totally enjoyed our day with him. We were able to pack so much into one day we visited the market, a fruit stand,saw alligators and had the most marvelous lunch and best tacos we have ever sampled. You can tell that Alejandro is proud of his beautiful country andhis heritage and he is impeccable in his English and his understanding of the needs of His clients. We had an excellent day touring San Poncho and Sayulita with Alejandro! Many interesting stops along the drive. Learning a bit of the local culture and history was a plus. We were well taken care of from the pick-up to our drop off at our hotel, thanks to Alejandro!

This tour is VERY misleading. We booked through our Air Canada rep at our resort. Were told we would visit these two towns, so I assumed (my mistake) that half day in one town, half day in other. Nope. On way to one town we stopped at roadside family market where we could sample some food. We were there for half an hour just standing around. We then were taken to a silver store where there was a short presentation and time to purchase. Most of us just sat outside. Next stop was San Pancho. We stopped, were taken to see the Pacific Ocean for 5 mins, then walked across the street and were told we had 15 mins is the local market. This was it for San Pancho. We then were taken to a tequila place for tequila tasting and presentation. Tip bucket passed around and strong suggestions to make a purchase. Again, not what brochure said at all. We then went to Sayulita and were taken to a upscale beach restaurant for lunch (brochure had said street food) so that was another large expense. After this we had one hour to explore the town. I was hoping to see more of these towns and less sale tactics along the way.

What a wonderful day we shared with Alejandro at Sayulita and San Pancho! He has a wealth of knowledge about the people of the area, the culture, flora, fauna, the ecosystem, history and is an all around nice person besides. We drove about 45 minutes from Puerto Vallarta to the beach towns with several interesting stops along the way. Our trip was tailored to our interests and needs and was a day well spent. It was worth every penny.

We really enjoyed our day trip tour of Sayulita & San Pancho! Our guide Alejandro was knowledgeable, friendly, and experienced! He was able to customize the tour based on our interests and provide options at many points during the trip. We loved visiting the local farmers market on Tuesday and being introduced to local products and crafts. The food options were varied & excellent. Tours can be tailored around interests like food, art, biology, history, local culture, beaches, shopping and much more! The intimate small group size is great for ease of travel and for personalized service!

Write your review Alejandro was an absolutely outstanding tour guide. While the tour we originally chose included San Pancho and Sayulita, Alejandro provided us with the option of also seeing a couple of inland towns. That option really added a different flavour and perspective than solely visiting beach side resorts. He was extremely knowledgeable about each of the towns in which we stopped and introduced us to a local drink called tejuing...something none of us would have tried without his knowledge and expertise. Alejandro was able to guide us around both San Pancho and Sayulita and was very accommodating when we wanted to meet up with another couple in San Pancho. He certainly was willing to customize the day that worked for us, we had lunch at a wonderful restaurant on Sayulita. Alejandro speaks perfect English, was very knowledgeable, easy going, flexible and just an overall great guy... someone you want to hang out with for the day! His van was very clean, comfortable and he provided refreshments such as water, beer, juice etc. If you are looking for a worry free, fun filled and fabulous learning experience Alejandro meets all those criteria! The four of us had an absolutely fabulous day. I have already recommended him to others and I know I will be in contact with him in the future, Thanks for a fantastic experience!

Our day trip to San Pancho and Sayulita with Alejandro ended up being one of the highlights of our time in Puerto Vallarta! We originally had to cancel at the last minute due to the unexpected shelter‑in‑place order during the unrest in PV, and Alejandro handled the situation with so much understanding. He immediately refunded the original tour and then went out of his way to accommodate us later in the week once things settled down. Once we were finally able to go, the tour was amazing. Alejandro picked us up right at our hotel and made the entire day feel easy and enjoyable. He’s incredibly knowledgeable—sharing history, cultural insights, and local context that made each stop more meaningful. Both San Pancho and Sayulita were beautiful to explore, and having a guide who clearly loves the region made the experience even better. I highly recommend booking with Alejandro!

We had an incredible day with Pancho, visiting Sayulita and San Pancho. He shared so much about the area and its history. He may also be the most popular, well known guide in Jalisco! He knows everyone, and I think that added to the value of touring with him.

Absolutely magnificent experience!!! I wish I could give it more stars. We were fortunate to have Alejandro as our guide. His passion for his culture is contagious and his flexibility to adjust was greatly appreciated. As soon as we got in the car, he asked "Do you want to stay with the traditional tour plan or are you open to exploring more local places?" And of course we wanted to see more local places, so he took us around a number of smaller communities that Sunday morning, including his home town, which opened up a deeper experience of seeing the culture and not the tourist. And since it was Sunday morning, that also meant it was Birria time. My brother and I talked about how much we love birria and asked if we could adjust our plans to get some authentic birria. Alejandro was game, we were game and he took us to the most amazing little local restaurant with cars lined up. Sure it took an hour of time....but...the food, the experience, was magical. And cemented our friendship with Alejandro. Yes we also got to see the sights and sounds of San Pancho and Sayulita. but getting to enjoy the local culture and cuisine created a core memory. Alejandro you are amazing and what you have built is amazing! Cannot recommend enough!

This was a private tour for four people to Sayulita & San Pancho. Our drive and tour guide was Miguel who picked us up at our hotel in Puerto Vallarta. This tour was amazing! A private tour in a super comfortable vehicle and friendly, kind, and very knowledgeable guide. Miguel provided wonderful stories about the places and the people and his own experiences and provide very thoughtful and helpful answers to our many questions. One of our group travelled with a foldable wheelchair so Miguel ensured that he did not miss out on anything and insisted in pushing the wheelchair as needed wherever we went. We had a fantastic lunch at Don-Pedros Restaurant & Bar overlooking the beach in Sayulita. I had the fish sandwich, recommended by Miguel, and honestly it was the most delicious meal I had the whole trip. All in all a luxury private tour for a bus tour price. We all loved it.

Alejandro was very patient, kind, courteous and respectful. We went to a wonderful restaurant on the beach for lunch and the Mahi Mahi was so good. We shopped and found some nice souvenirs. We even went to a roadside stand and tasted some local treats.

Alfonso was a wonderful driver and a great tour guide. He gave much information about the areas that we went into. The chocolate tasting and eating at Mary’s restaurant was wonderful. This is the second private tour that we have done with Alejandro. He is an amazing guide, so friendly and informative and very willing to share his vast knowledge of the area. He picked us up in Bucerias and we started in La Cruz and then went on to San Pancho and Sayulita. We had visited San Pancho and Sayulita before, but both were brief visits which covered only the basic tourist attractions. Alejandro’s tours were extensive and really brought these little Mexican gems to life. We had a great day and would highly recommend this guide and this company.

Alejandro gave us a wonderful day of touring San Pancho and Sayulita. He was extremely pleasant, courteous, on time, and prepared. He was flexible and sensitive to our own interests, allowing us to spend more or less time in each place as we wanted. There were a few stops on the way to Sayulita... so make sure you have breakfast before pick up. All the spots were informative and interesting. Poncho (Alfonso) was fantastic!!! Careful driver, great information, funny, attentive to our group and overall FABULOUS! A great way to see more of the area! Highly recommend this experience!

This was our favorite tour. We have taken 4 tours over the last 3 visits and Alejandros was the best. We booked a private tour which allowed us flexibility to shop or eat at will. Alejandro asked if we would like to try a few hidden gems known only to the locals, and we visited the most amazing places. He was also able to get us seated quickly at very busy restaurants! Some things that were clearly evidence is Alejandro put our safety above everything and let us pick how adventurous we wanted to be! Our group included teens to seniors and we all had fun. Make sure you see the smaller towns and the secret raspado shop. OMG!! We will be booking with Alejandro again!

I booked this tour because of the five-star reviews, but honestly, it was even better than that. This didn’t feel like a tour at all — it felt like traveling through Mexico with a friend. We explored smaller towns, local shops, and beautiful beach towns we never would have found on our own. Everything felt authentic, intentional, and personal. There was no rushing, no tourist traps — just real places, real people, and real culture. What made this experience unforgettable was our guide. He is a genuinely amazing person who clearly loves his culture and his country, and that love comes through in everything he shares. You can feel how much pride and care he has for Mexico, and it made us fall even more in love with it too. This was one of those experiences that stays with you. We already know we want to come back and explore other places with him specifically — because when you find a guide like this, you don’t want anyone else. If you’re thinking about booking, do it. This was the highlight of our trip and a memory we’ll carry with us forever.

Alejandro was fantastic! We had to change the time to begin and end the tour, and he was extemely accommodating. We wanted a customized tour to visit the resort areas of Nuevo Nayarit, and he gave us exactly what we wanted, including an unexpected visit to a gorgeous beach. He took us to a wonderful, authentic restaurant in Sayulita before returning us to our ship in plenty of time. He was very knowledgeable and told us tales of growing up in the area. Alfonso “Poncho” as he like to be called, was a fantastic tour guide. We were able to learn historical aspects of Mexico as well as the towns were were visiting. He was not pushing any vendors upon us as other guides do. I recommend this company for future tours
