Fun trip. Good to see the area. It was nice to stop and see places along the way. Right way to see the area.

I gave this 3 stars because this wasn’t really a Hop on Hop off bus. If you got off the bus before it left, you had to wait two hours to get back on. There was only one bus running that day. There was no air conditioning in the bus on a very hot day. The audio was horrible with only one garbled speaker playing a prerecorded tour. Beautiful sights to see, but you better stay put. It did stop at a few scheduled spots for a few minutes. Would like to have explored more.
Couldn't understand the recordings telling us what we were visiting. Driver guide was helpful but it was a quick way to see spots for a short land visit on our cruise
Javier was helpful and friendly. I would suggest better communication/direction is needed through the app to find location for pick up
This was a great tour, I was alone in the tour since no one was on the bus! Javier and Jose Luis were GREAT!! They were nice and waited for me while I looked around at the stops and they even asked if I needed more time that they would wait for me, I recommend the tour as you see a beautiful view when you are on top of the bus and hill because you see everything!!!
Waste of time and money. Bus was late, no air conditioning, had to open windows, only 20 minute stops, if you actually wanted to get off and explore, next bus would be 2 hours! Supposed to have tequila tasting (guide on bus brought around a bottle for shots), chocolate factory (never mentioned), beach stop (from above on a hill). Definitely not worth our time or $$.
We had Christian as our host guide on the bus. It turned out my wife and I were the only ones on the bus for the 3+hours, so Christian acted as our private tour guide. We had adequate time at each stop and he gave descriptions and history of everything we were seeing. Great guy. We had the best time. We saw a lot and would rate the HOHO a 10 out of 10.
It was a great way to see the city. Javier was great at explaining everything and made sure I knew when the bus would be stopping, for how long and when it would return. He also recommended a great beach, Mismaloya, great food, good drinks and the water was fantastic. Highly recommend!!
This was a pretty good way to see a little bit of Puerto Vallarta, none of the stops were ones you'd spend an hour. The bus stops for 10-30 minutes at the stops, depending on what there is to see and do. It's mostly a scenic drive to take pictures and stop at roadside shops for local trinkets. The information on the website could use some more detailed information about the stops and what there is to do in each place. The bus didn't have AC or WiFi which I thought it was supposed to have and there was very little information about the area. But the operators were friendly and welcoming
Perfect way to see PV with someone with mobility issues. The bus stops at several locations so you can get off and take pictures. It goes all the way from the marina to Mismaloya, south of town. Beautiful coastal views and time to walk on the Malecon.
Carlos was the best!! Highly recommend this tour!!! Will recommend it and take my family when they return
It was a great experience, we got to explore the city and was able to walk around the area and enjoy the amenities. The driver and the co-driver was great and friendly people
We took the hop-on hop-off bus tour today in Puerto Vallarta, and our guide, Javier, made the entire experience absolutely fantastic! (That's his friendly face pictured in image.png!) Javier went above and beyond to make sure we had a great time. He was incredibly knowledgeable and gave us a perfect layout of the city, letting us know exactly where everything was. A major highlight of the tour was when he took us to a really wonderful local chocolate factory—it was an incredible experience that we wouldn't have known about without him! His warm personality, excellent recommendations, and top-notch service truly made our day. If you take the Vallarta Tour, do yourself a favor and look for Javier. 5 stars all the way!

I had to postpone my tour for a day because of heavy rain. It was great the hop on hop off tour was canceled and I had no problems meeting the bus and taking the tour the next morning. The driver and the guide were excellent with enough information but not over loading me with too much. I was the only passenger due to low season in Puerto Vallarta so I had plenty of attention. Rafael and Oscar were perfect hosts.
Good experience if you want to visit 3-4 sights in a day and spend coupe of hours at a single location.
Nice ride through the city streets and the country side where you can see different types of hotels and B&B tucked away
False advertizing. One bis on route broken and in the shop so the 1 hour interval between stops was changed to two hours. Unscheduled stops for 40 to 15 min. Air-conditioning dident work well. Nice service reps on the bus , also 100% of passangers were complaining and upset. I felt bad for the serivice rep, he guaranteed us a refund if we e mailed trip advisor the i havent yet recived because he spoke with his supervisor who is the contact for tripadvisor. Ughhh would not reccomend.
Bus was nice and crew was good. Couldn’t hear the audio at all. Stops were short or way too long. We ended up returning him me in a cab.
Bus smelled of bathroom. Only stopped at 3 stops for 10-15 minutes. Tour was meh....
Waited in 35° weather at a designated hop on spot 45 mins past schedule and it no showed
The pickup site at the cruise terminal (Puerto Magico) was a little tricky to find. Ticket listed the Starbucks further north as the pickup, but that would be a long walk from the cruise terminal. Asked 3 different people on the way out who seemed to know about the existance of the bus, but pointed us to different places, including by the gas station (don't go there). When you leave the port building, turn right, then right again before you reach the street. There is a parking lot with spots for buses, and a person behind a kiosk and a person directing bus traffic. Estacionamiento de Puerto Mágico (H. Escuela Naval Militar, Área Militar de Vallarta, 48333 Puerto Vallarta, Jal., Mexico) They can tell you when the next bus is. Otherwise, nice trip. They stop for about 10 min at a couple of stops to take pics, use a restroom (10 pesos), and some shopping booths. Lower deck has AC. Upper deck is open, but once the bus is moving, the breeze feels good. We originally planned to hop off at Zona Romantica on the way back up, but at last minute decided to just take it all the way back to the port. Recorded narration tells a little history along the way. Nice way to get an overview. Guide on board was good about explaining bus schedule and which one is the last to take to get back to ship on time. Definitely get back off the bus at Puerto Magico as the port entrance further north that Google says does not allow pedestrians back in and you would have to walk back to that entrance anyway to force you through the shopping area
A wonderful overview of the area around Puerto Vallarta. Javier was very attentive, giving information as asked.
We were pleased that they ran on their schedule so when we got off in Malecon we were happy when the next bus showed up at the scheduled 2pm to take us back to the cruise terminal. It’s hot up top but when driving the breeze is nice. Watch you head though!
Nice way to see Puerto Vallarta, but be cautious at vendor stops - jewelry sold as ‘fire opal’ ended up being synthetic. I was told they were made from opal from local mines. Just something to be aware of.
Excellent way to see most of Puerta Vallarta. Scheduled short stops at major sites. Javier is a great guide!
We got off our cruise ship today not sure where the road may lead us. After walking the Malecon, we saw the hop on hop off bus and out of curiosity, we asked the cost and the route. The host was extremely personable and genuine. It was a great way to see the area in a short amount of time. The host spoke to us quite a few times letting us know how long we would be at a spot and what was yet to come. He offered great restaurant luncheon options when we stopped at the Marina. We had enough time to do a short walk about and enjoy lunch. I was honestly quite surprised when I went on to give a rating and saw that it was 3.8. I assumed it would be higher. We were charged $780 MXN for two people.
Good way to experience Puerto Vallarta highlights while hopping off as desired at places you want to see/experience. Next bus comes an hour after giving you a chance to explore. Only downside was if you decide to go back the return bus stops at a different location and there is no sign or meeting spot. Easy to miss the bus.
This is not your normal Hop-on Hop-off bus experience. I have used this service in several places in the US and Europe with great success. I used it as transportation from my cruise ship and this time it was very difficult to find the cruise stop. The instructions given were for a stop 10-15 minutes walk away. The bus was old, worn, squeeky and dirty and the headphone jacks were painted over. A minimum of narration was given over very poor speakers. We didn't dare get off the bus for lack of confidence another bus would come. This ride was OK, much longer than the normal route, over 3 hours. So I guess you could say I got my money's worth. It did make short stops in 3 locations including at the beach where we took some pictures. So it was an ok ride but not near the usual experience.
A wonderful tour of Pto Vallarta direct from cruise terminal. We got to see all our old haunts from the terminal all the way to Mismaloya and back. Very attentive tour guide. Back to the ship on time as promised!
Very informative and also very accommodating as I had issues with stairs. Would highly recommend her as a guide.
It was a long trip for the money. Round trip with one bus was 3 hours. The longest stop was 20 min at Malecón, and some stops were only a few seconds to check for riders. Except for Malecón, the trip through the city was pretty boring, and it was very hot on top, even at 10am in April. Once we got out of the city and onto the “highway”, there was some shade, the wind from the higher speed, and the beautiful scenery by the ocean made the trip much more enjoyable. We stopped at Mismaloya, and the trip back reversed itself without stops, back to our pickup at the Marina. Cool and nice along the ocean, and hot, slow and uninteresting through the city. The speaker narration was uninformative, infrequent and mostly useless.
We booked this tour hoping to see a few of the stops listed. The timing didn’t work out great for us though. On the way from the Marina towards town they said if we got off it would be 2hrs until the next bus and we didn’t need two hours at the Marina location as the guide said the chocolate stop is a small store and they usually only stop at it on the way back. You also can’t see some stops from the bus, for example Conchas Chinas beach you have to get off the bus and walk down a steep hill to get to the beach area. It’s a beautiful beach but no shade! Caution! Bring a sun umbrella! But it’s beautiful. Anyways, if you start first thing in the morning you might be able to get enough use out of it. There is also no shade up top on the bus and if you are in the AC in the lower part of the bus they have a film on the windows for the sun protection so you can’t take pictures unless you open the window. We had a fun day overall. Hope this helps!
Great experience to travel down the coast's most popular touristic attractions with a few stops so you can browse or hop off for a while, team is super friendly. Definitely recommend it and at a great value!
The Hop-On Hop-Off bus tour gets a lot of unfair criticism in the reviews—mostly from people who don’t seem to understand how it actually works. The whole point is that you hop off where you want, explore, and then catch the next bus when you’re ready—they’re not meant to wait for you. We almost didn’t try it because of the reviews, but ended up jumping on during our travels and were so glad we did. It was a great experience. The staff were awesome and went out of their way to point us toward some really cool spots, even making sure we stopped at an amazing ice cream stand along the coast. Definitely worth doing if you go in with the right expectations!
Sadly buses do not follow schedule. We rushed outside to be ready for 10:30, bus arrived closer to 10:50. Got to the 1st stop, and didn’t stop had to ask to get off. Hour later didn’t see the bus walked to next stop and again no bus. Got fed up and took a taxi back. A complete waste of money. Paid 78 + 15 for taxi. Fully disappointed.
he hop-on, hop-off bus in Puerto Vallarta was one of the best decisions I made on my trip. It’s an easy, relaxing way to see the city without worrying about taxis or navigating unfamiliar streets. The route hits all the major spots—Malecon, Old Town, the Marina, beaches, and scenic overlooks—so you never feel like you’re missing anything. I loved being able to jump off whenever something caught my eye, explore at my own pace, and then catch the next bus. The guides were friendly, the buses were clean and comfortable, and the views from the upper deck were amazing. It’s perfect for first-time visitors and even better if you just want a stress-free day soaking in the sights. Highly recommend if you want a fun, flexible way to experience Puerto Vallarta!
Great way to see PV. Time to get off & explore different areas. Tour guides are very accommodating. We only had the 6 of us on the first leg of the tour. It was great!
SOOOO MUCH FUN on this double decker open top bus! Booked last minute with the issues in PV but so happy we did. It is a great narrated tour. Several stops that slow you to get off and catch a later bus if you want to spend more time at that stop or you can stay on. At a few of the stops they even hung out for 10-15 minutes to give time for pictures. I would definitely do this excursion again and highly recommend! The staff was great and friendly and sitting on top of the bus was a great experience!
The tour was good but it is difficult to find the spots to get on the bus. There is not any signage and since the roads are 1 way if you are trying to get a bus going the opposite direction you have no idea where to pick it up.
It was great really enjoyed the flexibility and areas we went to
We have taken many Hop On Hop Off tours in various cities. This one was a pre-recorded message. There was one gentleman on board but he did not say much about the route. Typically, they give you one hour at each stop, but due to the Cartel activity they had to extend to two hours (which wasn't their fault). Mainly missed the story telling by a live person. That was my main reason for the average review.
Friendly tour guide, Javier, shared some extra stories about the areas. The audio guide was informative. Nice length of time at stops. Hot and windy riding up top, but lovely views.
It was a pretty interesting tour, with opportunities to see places from a different angel. Also the option to walk around a bit and even to wait for the next bus The guide was friendly and helpful, but sorry I can’t remember his name
It is a great way to see the city. The tour guide was accommodating and told us good spots to get off at. The 10 minute stops could have been extended to 15 minutes.
Great experience! The buses were on time. There was a recorded guide in Eng telling interesting facts about places around. A special thanks is to Francisco for approaching my mistake professionally and kind-heartedly. We enjoyed the trip very much. At the last stop we went to the beach. There are restaurants that offer beach loungers, a table, an umbrella, food and drinks. Has an amazing time there. The trip back without many stops was much faster. Thank you for seat pillows and paper schedules printed.
I enjoyed the emensly. The bus was on time (within reason). Javier was very friendly, informative and made great suggestions. Both Javier and the driver Salvatore made our tour safe and enjoyable. We went to Mismayo Beach area and was very please with our day. We enjoyed the tour and the day.
The bus tour provides a schecule but the bus was 45 minutes late. The provided scgecule is unreliable as I think there are significantly less buses in PV than other cities. While there was tequila shot provided, there was no lounger on Mangos Beach, and no entry to a chocolate factory as advertised. I do want to mention that Carlos, the guide, was phenomenal. Incredibly knowledgable and interesting. Carlos made the trip worth it. I would actually do it again if I knew Carlos was the guide.
We had a great experience. Great way to see Puerto Vallarta and all the way out to Mismaloya.
I would have given a five star if it weren't for the restaurant that the tour guide had recommended at the end of the round trip at the southern leg of the tour. Do not eat at Los Poscados!!! Damn terrible tacos!! And damn expensive for such terrible food. The restaurant is just a shack on the sand (which is okay) but crappy tacos!! And way too expensive for what we got!!!
