Our captain Eddie was great and the swimming guide and lifeguard Ruben was amazing.

Our guides were wonderful! Friendly, patient and knowledgeable. The tour operator contacted us to adjust our departure time to ensure that we would have access to the hidden beach. We highly recommend them!
Reuben and Chuy were fantastic guides! We had a blast and would definitely do this again!
Went with my two teenage daughters. Was a fun trip. Beautiful scenery and guide was excellent at English and helpful. The swim through the cave is thrilling and the most exciting workout! My daughter who isn’t a strong swimmer got to be pulled on a buoy by the guide and she had a lot of fun. June is low season so there was no wait to swim in. The snorkeling itself was okay but there’s not that amazing wildlife you see in Hawaii or parts of the Caribbean
I would recommend to try. I’m a bit claustrophobic and afraid of the ocean but it’s a quick swim to the other side where you see a beautiful beach. It was so worth it and it was such a beautiful experience I must say.
Jellyfish heavy. Be prepared to swim in deep water. NOT for novices or those who can't swim. Expensive for the overall experience. Also, think about taxi fares. Average $50-120 USD each way.
Perfect day trip! Rueben was awesome and Jesus too! We got to the islands in 15 minutes, and then directly to the hidden beach and caves. SO cool! The water is warm and we were the only ones there for a while. We then went snorkeling w Rueben in several coves. 12 year old was screaming with joy. They pointed out lots of birds, crabs and sea urchins. The day could not have been better! Well worth the cost to go privately and not with a large group. Gracias Rueben y Jesus!!
AB-SO-LUTELY FANTASTIC! :) thank you to the team who put this together, the talented and friendly captain, and the sweet and knowledgeable instructor. We had a blast, learned a lot, and are so grateful for this opportunity to learn about, experience, and awe over nature.
Ruben was wonderful. He was so friendly. We were able to see whales on the way home. Closest many of us had ever been to whales. What a beautiful experience!!
The crew was friendly, flexible, and responsive to our group. Worked out great! We altered our itinerary a bit due to the crowds at the hidden beach and they rolled with it and we did some additional whale watching and bird watching.
The staff was friendly and knowledgeable, they seemed to know exactly what to do at every step. Everything was great! The islands are beautiful.
My sister and I had such a fun time on this excursion! These guys are great, know English, and love what they do. While going around the island, they took extra time to get us close to a group of spinner dolphin. Love when people go above and beyond!
A great tour in the hidden beach and then a another beach, snorkeling, and another beautiful Sandy Beach to chill Our guide, Johnny and his captain chewy we’re very knowledgable and friendly and had good sense of humours
Beautiful boat ride with a great crew! Jesus and Jose were amazing guides! They were safe and had great knowledge regarding the places we visited and things we saw!
The team was very focused on everyone's enjoyment and safety. Outstanding Customer Service from this team - ask for Jonny! I'm in my 60's and I needed some assistance with getting in and out of the boat.... the two team members were great with me! Small group of 4 were on the tour and everyone said they loved the BEACH and the Snorkeling!
This was a fantastic VIP experience. The service was excellent and our guide was extremely friendly and knowledgeable, which made the entire tour smooth and enjoyable. The visit to the hidden beach was everything we hoped for—and yes, access was 100% guaranteed as promised. I highly recommend this option compared to the typical catamaran tours with 40+ people. This felt much more exclusive, personal, and comfortable. If you want to truly enjoy the Marietas Islands , this is the way to go!
I wish we knew ahead of time of booking that May (even mid to late April) is the start of jellyfish season in the area. There were so many jellyfish in the area that it was impossible to get out of the boat and into the water. While Ruben and Chewy were both professional in their operations of the boat, it was a major let down to say the least. So if you intend to go snorkeling in the area of PVT Vallarta be extremely aware of the likelihood you will encounter hundreds of thousands of jellyfish. It is not something that is well known and informed of prior to booking or prior to arrival.
We did not see Hidden Beach bc there were jelly fish in the water. I booked this tour bc the title said 100% guarantee. We also did not go snorkeling or see the bufadora. The main things on the itinerary we did not do! It was extremely disappointing and I felt I did not get my money’s worth for me and my 3 teenage kids. Their main activity was to go snorkeling while I wanted to see Hidden Beach.
Amazing!!a W saw dolphins and Whales on the way to the Island. Had the option to snorkel or go to Cactus Beach.
Worth it - even just for the boat ride. I screwed up my booking, but David made sure my son and I still managed to get on a boat. Then Daniel, the guide, was calm and informative. Eddie, the captain, was calm in the rough waters and made us feel safe. The tour was informative and so interesting. What a beautiful place to spend the morning. Go early as the winds pick up mid-day.
Great experience. Ruben and a guy did a great job. Marietas Islands are definitely a must if you visit Punta Mita.
Soooooo we did the trip yesterday and definitely wanted to write a review. Booking was super easy online & tour operator answered all questions we had quickly. We were greeted by reception and she was very pleasant and easy to deal with. Once the entire booking showed up we were escorted to the marina by a guide who told us some history of Punta Mita. We were greeted by tour guide Reuben and Captain of the boat Chewie. On the way to the island we came across a pod of Humpback Whales that Reuben had said he let know we were coming lol. Once we arrived to the Hidden Beach the transfer through park rangers was seamless. The swim itself was not easy for this 50 year old man but with the encouragement from Reuben I was able to do it. Once at the island it was amazing. Took some photos then I sat in the sand with Reuben and we shared stories of family. We swam back out and went off to the snorkelling, water was murky due to waves but still was able to see many species of fish. On the way back to land we saw whales once again breaching in front of the boat, again Reuben told me that he called them to come see his new friends. The trip as a whole was such an amazing experience, just seeing the whales was worth it and an extremely humbling experience. What made the trip the best was the guide Reuben and Captain Chewie, if you are lucky enough to meet these two amazing people they definitely will leave an impression on you forever. Thank you for the amazing trip for my wife and I. Cheers Shawn
Tour is more than worth it! Tour guide and boat Captain were both great! They customized the experience as the tour went on to best suit the group. We saw humpback whales, experienced hidden beach, snorkeled and enjoyed time on cactus beach. This is a sight not to be missed. Grimar for the win.
Amazing tour. Worth every penny. We got to see the beach and even though it was overcast we got great photos. Because it was overcast and cold we didn’t snorkel, but the tour guides adjusted and took us to see whales. We probably saw 12 whales including a baby. Being on a small boat allowed us to get up close. Amazing! Highly recommend!
We had an awesome experience with Grimar Adventures! They were organized and friendly. We spent time watching the humpback whales breaching and on the way back we got to watch as a calf was nursing. Swam into Hidden Beach and saw the blue footed boobies. Everyone loved it!
Great opportunity to see the Hidden Beach and fantastic snorkeling! Really appreciated the small size of the boat with only 6 of us plus the guides.
Great experience with Ruben and Chuy! The took us to Islas Marietas, were very friendly, it was fun and also safe, thank you so much!
We had a great time on our adventure. The swim to the hidden beach was worth it! Ruben and Chewy took great care of us.
If you have motion sickness, take a pills before trip. The ocean waves are very strong. But very cool place to visit. Ask your gide to take cool pictures!!!
Rueben was our guide and he was amazing, really patient and was so great at spotting whales. I’d definitely recommend this trip to anyone. Also I noticed in the reviews someone said they had a hard time finding the location that the tour starts at. I did not find this to be an issue at all. The google maps pinpoint is exactly where it is so just follow that.
Fun tour - Ruben was a great guide! We got to the hidden beach before anyone else and had it to ourselves. The snorkeling spot was nice - saw many different fish.
Memorable adventure to the Marietas hidden beach under the excellent guidance and navigation by Reuben & Chuy. While accessing the beach requires a strong swim through a cave with active currents, we enjoyed the thrill and felt very safe under Reuben’s watch. Beautiful boat ride and we got very lucky to see whales up close. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a true adventure in Puerto Vallarta.
This is not organized! There aren't any signs to give the customers directions to the company they are booked with. No one came out to meet us and show us where to go. I was told there are several companies that do the tours and I was not given the information about how to find the one I was booked with. I actually had to deal with the people from the other companies and they were complete jerk!. I was almost in tears trying to find this place and they don't care! This is a set up for failure and too much stress on a vacation.
Excellent excursion to a super unique place! Every part of the Islands are special....tons of caves with Hidden beach being the crown jewel!
Amazing boat trip to the secret beach, caves, and snorkeling was incredible- loads of all different types of fish. We saw lots of whales up close. Reuben was a great host and helped us every step of the way.
I really loved the tour! I loved how focused our guides were on safety, especially compared to the other groups we saw visiting the island. Super happy with the whole experience. They even slowed down slightly (not allowed to stop) when we saw whales on our way back (end of November).
Go with a small boat with 6 people. The swim is slightly strenuous, but the guide is there to assist if necessary. It was worth every penny spent
This tour was a beautiful way to experience the Mariettas Islands! It was a little difficult locating the "Grimar Adventures Punta Mita" company at first because the starting point is just a random alley downtown. However, we asked the locals where to go and they pointed us across the street to the beach. The Grimar company's wooden stand is right beside AJ's Pitt BBQ in Punta Mita. We sat at the restaurant and had a snack before the tour starts. The restaurant also has restrooms and an ATM for guests to use. We walked right down their beachfront stairs to the "Grimar Adventures Punta Mita" wooden stand to sign in. After boarding your speed boat, the tour guides took us on an exhilarating ride to the Mariettas Island. We stopped alongside the national park boat to get our helmets from the park rangers for the hidden beach. Once we were equip with the helmets and life jackets, we swam approx. 100 meters into the opening to the hidden beach. The swim to the hidden beach is strenuous because you're fighting the current, but leaving is much easier. The hidden beach was amazing and the tour guide took many pictures for us. Once we swam back to the boat, we went on a ride to see where the Blue Footed Boobies live. We went snorkeling near one of the islands and drove past Cactus Beach. Our group opted to stay on the boat rather than swim to Cactus Beach. We were given lots of bottled waters and gatorade to stay hydrated. Then, the tour guides took us back to their wooden stand in Punta Mita. The guides were great at helping people on and off the boat. We shopped at the market in downtown Punta Mita before getting an Uber back to our hotel. It was an amazing trip overall!
if you want a full day of adventure in 3-4 hours this trip is perfect for you. The exposure to different parts of the Marietas islands was amazing. The blue footed booby, the hidden beach, the snorkeling and excellent guidance to these points of interest was executed flawlessly!
The tour was awesome. We were on the early tour and our tour guilds Ruben and David were awesome. Our boat was the first one there at the Island. My wife and I were the only tourist on the beach this morning. It felt very special to be there with no other tourist around. We got to take photos and enjoyed the beach to ourselves. Ruben gave us helpful hints to show us where to take photos at. After that he left us alone to enjoy the beach. Snorkeling was the same since we were the only ones in that part of the island. Swimming around with no one to bump into or getting kicked while you are floating around. Overall experience is a 5 out of 5
Everything was amazing and we’ll organized. The guide gave clear instructions and emphasized on safety. Ruben and Jesus were the best of the best!
It could have been five stars but the sea was very rough that day and getting to the hidden beach was not easy. Although the crew was very proficient, they not very engaging, which took away from the experience. Anyway, I am a very experienced open water swimmer. If there are swells getting through the tunnel to the beach - and then back - will require some decent swimming capabilities. Going through the tunnel in a swell may be too stressful for some people. They will also check for identification for anyone who looks to not meet the age requirement and not let them go to the beach. I would not recommend anyone younger than 12 go on this swim, especially if it is rough.
Worth the price and had a great time. You stop at 3 spots in total. Our guide was great and I appreciated if emphasis on safety and looking out for our wellbeing. One thing to note is that you can’t apply sunscreen on the trip to protect the coral. I would recommend anyone with sensitive skin apply reef safe sunscreen (or wear a long sleeve rash guard) before you arrive and get in the boat so you have some protection from the sun.
Great trip to Marieta Island. Crew of the boat was awesome and after seeing hidden beach went on a nice tour of the rest of the island. Note: to enjoy and get to hidden beach you should be a good swimmer.
Everything was amazing, but the most memorable part of I had to choose was having an isolated island and going through a cave…it was an intense beautiful experience.
An amazing experience! Definitely a must do excursion when visiting Puerto Vallarta. Johnny was fabulous. Not only was he knowledgeable, he’s also a great photographer and very funny. We had a great time on this tour.
Jonny was amazing!!! he was an awesome tour guide and was so fun and helpful when we went to the hidden island. took amazing photos too!
So many surprises! Hidden beach was incredible and we had lots of other wonderful stops and sites throughout the tour that we did not expect. The islands are incredible. Jerry, Johnny, and Captain Bolillo were awesome guides and really fun. Great mix of sharing history of the islands, wildlife observation, and letting us have a good time playing music! They were helpful with taking pictures of our family too and we captured a really memorable trip.
Our guide Jonny and his partner were terrific did an amazing job always fun, friendly and informative Jonny took amazing pictures he was like our personal professional photographer these guys love what they do and go above and beyond because of it, saw the blue footed birds that thought were only at Galapagos and on our way back we saw some dolphins was amazing, perfect tour we were only 4 and had the hidden beach for ourselves only felt like vip
The guide was awesome, knowledgeable, helpful and fun, and knew the best places for photos and took them for everyone. We enjoyed that it is a small group. We were able to get out of the boat once for the swim through the cave and back, then a bit later in a different spot for snorkeling. The rest of the time was boating around looking at different spots and birds. I did get a significant sting by a jellyfish as we were swimming toward the cave and a few of the people in the group felt like they had smaller stings. I think it is a common occurrence because another person in the group had heard that other people earlier in the week had been stung. Not at all anyone’s fault or anything that can be controlled but I think people should at least be aware that it is a possibility. After-all, we are swimming in THEIR home!
