Our guide Cervando was amazing. He gave us a great overview of quite a few colonias (neighborhoods) in Puerto Vallarta including Marina Vallarta, 5 de Diciembre, Centro and Zona Romantica. He also gave us a tour of a local market in 5 de Diciembre near where he grew up...including fresh tortillas and salsa. He is very knowledgeable about the city as he is native resident. He is a very safe driver and gives you the option to tailor your tour to your liking, if there are specific sites and areas you would like to see. He also gave us suggestions for various street vendors and restaurants to try while we are here.

Our guide will share with you the history of our city as you walk along this iconic site of Puerto Vallarta. "El Malecon" as we call it. This 1 km boardwalk is also flanked with interesting statues that are symbolic to Puerto Vallarta. In addition to this, the boardwalk will lead us to the heart of the city , where we'll find our beautiful Parrish, dedicated to Our Lady of Guadalupe.
This is Puerto Vallarta's oldest expatriates neighborhood, Gringo Gulch is also where Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor had their home. In addition to this Gringo Gulch and Colonia el Cerro are part of the traditional Puerto Vallarta.
Zona Romantica is one of the most traditional areas in Puerto Vallarta. "Playa de los Muertos" was originally where the Love boat used to dock at. A stop here, will give you the chance to glimpse into this traditional area, where some of the episodes for the Love Boat TV series were filmed.
Our guide will drive you along this scenic coastal road as he points out some of his favorite beaches and coves. And then, as you leave the city you'll discover beautiful jungle vegetation where you may see orange fronted parakeets, blue jays, parrots and some other beautiful birds from our mountains.
Mismaloya is the beach where the movie " The Night of the Iguana" was filmed in 1963, this was the movie that put Puerto Vallarta on the map. Our guide will make a short stop here for you to take pictures.
At this stop we're going to visit Lucias's family tequila distillery, who has been making tequila and raicilla for three generations. This is a great chance to learn the process of making tequila and to enjoy a especial tequila tasting.

Our experience with the tour was exceptional, largely due to our outstanding driver and guide, Cervando. He is highly professional, knowledgeable, and knows Puerto Vallarta like the palm of his hand. What made the tour particularly valuable was the opportunity to experience both the modern, popular tourist areas and the less-touristy, more authentic parts of Puerto Vallarta. The contrast between these areas provided a unique perspective and made the tour much more interesting and memorable. Cervando was accommodating, attentive, considerate, and genuinely friendly throughout the entire experience. His professionalism and local knowledge greatly enhanced the tour.
My husband and I enjoyed a fabulous tour of Puerto Vallarta with Cervando. He took us to all the areas of the city and was extremely knowledgeable of the history of the whole region. We thoroughly enjoyed his tour and his pride and passion for sharing his culture and history. We highly recommend any tour with Cervando and My Vallarta Tours. We will definitely book another tour the next time we visit. He is a great person and truly cares that you have a custom tailored experience. Thank you for a great day!
We had a wonderful time with Cervando! He took great care of us, and was very accommodating to our needs, as my older father needed extra time to walk slow and rest. We also loved that he was thoughtful and courteous with the locals. He was very knowledgeable about the city, since he was raised here, and has spent many years in the tour industry. We never felt compelled to spend any extra money. It was simply a leisurely time that we enjoyed sightseeing, talking, and resting. We are very grateful for such a great time today!
Cervando is smart, charming, funny and compassionate. We had a delightful time and wish we had more!
I hope we spelled his name correctly but Ceravado is really the best. We are mother and daughter travellers (48 and 73) who are not in ideal shape. We are also pretty low key when it comes to food and alcohol so he had his hands full trying to figure us out. But he did just that, he gave us the main highlights, walked us through a market and taught us so many things about his culture. He was so respectful and helped us in and out at every stop, he is so very kind. He really made it a “private tour” no pressure to shop at a jewelry store or take you to a tequila tasting (unless you want to). It really was a choose your own adventure and it was lovely.
Our tour guide, Pepe (Jose), was very knowledgeable and accommodating for our private tour yesterday. We got to know some of the history and culture of the town, see the sights, take some amazing pictures, and many laughs too. This was by far the best decision we made to book a tour and were absolutely blessed to be matched with our fabulous guide! His English was impeccable, an expert and safe driver, and so wonderful to our 9 month old baby and 3 year old. It gave us an idea of areas we would like to spend more time in to explore.
We highly recommend this tour of Puerto Vallarta with Cervando. In addition to showing us the landmarks of the city, he brought us to a vibrant local market that we never would have found on our own. His historical knowledge of the city made our tour so enjoyable and meaningful.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We had a fantastic half-day tour of Puerto Vallarta with Cervando! He was knowledgeable, friendly, and shared great insights into the island’s history, culture, and hidden gems. Perfect balance of sightseeing and local perspective—highly recommend this tour and Cervando as a guide.
Our guide, Cervando promptly picked us up from our hotel in a spacious clean van. He helped cater the tour based on my family’s interests. I would highly recommend him as he took great care of us and provided tremendous insight into the town and history of Puerto Vallarta. He was also a safe and excellent driver.
This was a fantastic trip. I had so much fun. Cervando will show you the real Puerto Vallarta. He's a wonderful guide and grew up in the area - so he can authentically tell you about the past as well as the present. I would never use any other guide in Puerto Vallarta.
We had a good private tour - driver is a one man band and a nice guy - his business, so he goes the extra mile to make sure you are happy and have a good experience. Thanks from Eddie, Julianne and Annabel.
Great overview of the zones (neighborhoods) of Puerto Vallarta. Option to customize, and Cesar was very accommodating. We chose to do a walking tour of the cobblestone hills of old Puerto Vallarta, crossing the river, struggling through parks and squares, visiting the Lady of Guadalupe church, and finally down to the boardwalk. There are amazing sculptures along that area. Cesar then drove us to self Puerto Vallarta through the resort area in we stopped at a local beach. It was a great day. Tip: if you’re on a ship, it may come in at a different pier from where the tour of operators meet guests. There is a free shuttle that drops off at pier 1 where the exit is located and most of the tour guides meet guests. Cesar did a great job and even sent us some photos of our day.
We had an outstanding introduction to Puerto Vallarta with a guide who paid attention to our interests and cared for all possible details. He wanted us to have a wonderful day and he succeeded. He surpassed our expectations in terms of service. We felt a friend was showing us his beloved town.
Veranda was the perfect tour guide. We really felt like we had a true experience of Puerto Vallarta. It was all that we hoped for!
Great experience and friendly tour guide. We were able to see lots of places on our half day tour. Highly recommended.
Our tour was on point!!! Loved our guide and the experience! We highly recommend this tour! Best way to see the city.
We enjoyed our tour. Our guide was very knowledgeable and personable. We recommend this tour. We included a stop for lunch and the local foods are delicious.
We met Daniel in the terminal getting off the ship. He seemed very personable and honest. He was definitely priced right. There were four of us. He took us to a part of town where locals lived, and pointed out markets and restaurants. He took us to a cemetery with brightly painted murals, and explained “ Day of the Dead “ traditions. He took us to the Malecon and downtown area, where he let us walk around a little. He met us back at the cathedral. He took us to an off the beaten path hotel/ restaurant that was beautiful, and had a stunning view of the city. He took us to Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor’s houses connected by a bridge. He took us to a part of town with Gaudi style architecture and a park.He took us to a beach and recommended a great restaurant where we ate lunch. He would have stayed with us longer, but we were ready to get back to the ship. Puerto Vallarta was our favorite port primarily because of Daniel.
Top shelf from beginning to end! Cervando arrived right on time. Beautiful clean van complete with ice cold water, pop and even a couple of beers. First, Cervando told us what we were going to see, and then explained the history and significance of each area as we passed by. There were plenty of opportunities to stop for photos, a short walk, or a margarita at a beach front bar. He also knew as much about Canada as most Canadians. Very easy to talk to and very concerned for our comfort throughout the tour. The final stop was a tequila tasting and education on the history of tequila. Ramon at Los Tres Raicilla was an excellent host. This tour took us off the all inclusive property and allowed us to see another side of PV that looked alot more fun than staying at the All Inclusive! I would highly recommend Cervando for this or any tour he offers!
This tour made it so much easier for my mother to see the sights since she cannot walk for long distances. Cervando messaged me where he would meet us and he was there at exactly the time agreed. He talked with us about what we would like to see and do and immediately provided great suggestions. He just made it so easy for both of us and talking with him about his life here was interesting. He spoke in both Spanish and English with us so it was enjoyable conversation. The taco spots he took us to were both so good and exactly what I wanted. He also provided refreshments so it was nice not having to even stop anywhere to get something to drink. Private tours are the way to go to get a much better experience and I would highly recommend this if you really want to see and enjoy Puerto Vallarta.
Wonderful experience with our guide. He was so knowledgeable, friendly and really showed us Puerto Vallarta in a way we couldn’t have accomplished on our own.
Cervando was kind and courteous and took us to all the sights. He even stopped the minivan to show us whales diving off the coast. We loved our time and getting to see the real Puerto Vallarta through a local’s eyes. Superb!
Cervando with My Tour Vallarta was absolutely exceptional! He arrived promptly at our hotel with an ice-cold welcome package, making us feel instantly relaxed. His van was a comfortable oasis from the summer heat. Cervando's passion for Puerto Vallarta was infectious. His deep knowledge of the city, combined with his ability to tailor the tour to our interests, created an unforgettable experience. We explored the vibrant heart of downtown, discovered hidden gems in the Conchas Chinas neighborhood, and even ventured to local spots that few tourists ever see. Cervando's insider tips and engaging stories brought the city to life. We were so impressed by Cervando's hospitality and attention to detail. He went above and beyond to ensure we had a fantastic day. His genuine love for his city is evident in every interaction. We can't wait to return to Puerto Vallarta and book another tour with My Tour Vallarta. Supporting small, locally owned businesses like this is important to us, and we highly recommend Cervando to anyone visiting the area. Thank you, Cervando, for making our trip truly special!
Cervando was a great tour guide for our 1/2 day tour in Puerto Vallarta! He was extremely knowledgeable on PV's history and customized our tour to what we wanted to do, taking us to beautiful beaches and the historic sites of PV. He is a fluent English speaker and very friendly. Our daughters are still talking about the wonderful tacos we had for lunch!
Raul is the greatest, entertaining, informative and knowledgeable guide ever. We saw the highlights and the local sites alike. The taco stands were authentic and delicious. Local tequila at Tequilera La Novena had great tasting of at least 8 samples and no pressure. Raul made this the greatest tour.
We had such a memorable tour. I felt like we saw the whole city- though I know there are many things I need to go back to see! Our guide was absolutely wonderful. Thoughtful in every way- about our interests and our comfort. It was one of the best tours I've ever had. Mr. Palomera is an incredibly knowledgeable guide who grew up in this gorgeous city and seems to know just about everyone in it! We loved everything we did- seeing Elizabeth Taylor's house and learning the story of that episode in her life, seeing the bay from Night of the Iguana and learning that Predator was shot in Puerto Vallarta. We saw the Malecon, did a tequila tasting, and had a drink at the beach at La Palapa and even got to see wild Iguanas and parrots! I loved this tour so much I am going to be taking it again with my husband (this trip was with a friend and my daughter.) Do yourself a favor and book this wonderful trip and Mr. Palomera will work with you to tailor your trip just to you. I felt our trip was perfect in every way and it was all because of Mr. Palomera.
Cervando was a fantastic guide for our half day private tour of Puerto Vallarta!! We saw different parts of the city and he gave us interesting facts about it. Took us to points of interests and making sure we were happy and comfortable every step of the way ! Even led us to a fabulous place for lunch in the middle of it !
Cervando was, by far, the most incredible local tour guide of any guides we have had on our travels. He was exceptionally responsive prior to our tour in an effort to ensure we had the best experience possible by asking preferences of what we wanted to see and the start time in the morning. He is from PV and was able to give us a glimpse into the city itself while helping us discover areas we would never have found on our own. We enjoyed tacos at a local stand, stopped at a fruit market (he even helped us pick out the ripest fruit for us to enjoy later), had an phenomenal personalized experience at a tequila tasting, provided history of the area and the wonderful culture of those who live there, and gave us a truly remarkable experience. We cannot recommend Cervando highly enough! If you are in PV and looking for a personalized experience that will be one-of-a-kind, safe, comfortable, delicious (he took us to a few of his favorites for some quick bites), and genuine - book with Cervando!
I learned a ton about the city and Mexico in general. My guide Cervando has had an incredible life growing up in PV. He shares wonderful stories around every corner and seems to know everyone in the town. The tour was almost 6 hours and I would do it again in a heartbeat. He points out places for pics, wildlife, history, culture, and trivia. He has been a tour guide in this city for 20 years so knows every nook anc cranny. If you are like me and like personal tours that are relaxed and comfortable, where you can ask questions and have a custom experiences, this is the tour for you.
We booked this trip based on excellent reviews. Cervando was great to show us around the city. He was very willing to modify our experience and felt we had a good opportunity to see all over Puerto Vallarta. Appreciated he gave a good balance of taking us places and explained history of area. We had time also to wander around as well. I highly recommend this tour and Cervando is a genuinely nice guy.
This was our first visit to PV and wanted to get a first hand introduction to the city from a local and this was a great experience! Manny was our tour guide for me and my wife. It was fun learning about the history of Puerto Vallarta and how it has changed over the years. We'd be happy to book another trip with Manny, he shared many great stories and showed us a great time!
We told Cervando that we wanted to focus on local history and culture not just tourist attractions. He totally got it and we spent the day activity visiting everything from Elizabeth Taylor's house to his own neighbor. Conversation covered the gambit of life growing up and living in Puerto Vallarta. He is a genuinely nice person who clearly enjoys his community, job and family. We would highly recommend Cervando.
Our tour guide Cervando Ocegueda Palomera was amazing! He took us to beautiful landmarks and was very knowledgeable. From beginning to end this tour was worth every dime! We spent 6 hours learning about Puerto Vallarta and seeing major landmarks. We also had wonderful authentic food for lunch. There was so much to see and he covered a lot. I would highly recommend this tour.
We absolutely loved this tour. Cervando was so kind and knowledgeable. We started out driving to the center of the city to go up to the top of an old light house to see the entire city view. Along the way he had amazing stories of the history of Puerto Vallarta. We toured the main church, walked along the boardwalk, walked around the downtown area, ate at some of the local taco stands he recommended and then headed out further down south to take in some ocean views, the “Hollywood hills” (where lots of Americans live) and tour a small tequila distillery. Highly recommend! We ended the tour with an amazing late lunch at Gaby’s, which Cervando recommended.
Cervando is an excellent tour guide. He is very knowledgeable about Puerto Vallarta. He is very prompt, speaks excellent English. We plan to do more tours with Cervando
My wife and I have visited Puerto Vallarta on multiple occasions on cruise ships. We engaged Cervando Ocegueda on our first visit to explore the historic mountain town of San Sebastian del Oeste, a once-bustling mining town. To say it was an incredible experience would be an understatement. We made multiple short stops on the way there to see tortillas made, coffee roasted, tequila distilled. We walked the cobble-stoned streets of San Sebastian, visited local merchants and artisans, toured the cathedral, and lunched on authentic cuisine in a local restaurant, not filled with tourists. Cervando was welcomed with open arms by residents and merchants of this town, amplifying the unique relationship he has fostered. Since that initial visit, we have returned, three additional times, wanting to show shipmates the uniqueness of San Sebastian, each time orchestrated by Cervando. We have learned something different on each visit, so it was not repetitive for us, and have been thanked profusely by our fellow travellers for arranging this opportunity,. Cervando has an engaging personality, is easily understood, has an encyclopedic knowledge of the area and its history, provides comfortable transportation, and is punctual as to time and place. If you have tried the rest, now try the best! CERVANDO!!
