We had a great experience! Excellent communication for this family business. Alex and his sons aim for your best experience. They want to make sure that the waves are just right for you to learn. They even brought another person with them to watch our backpacks while we were surfing. We were able to get up multiple times and had a great time! It was basically a private lesson with 2 instructors and just the 2 of us. If we go back we will definitely book with them again!

Epic day for my son and I. Best waves ever. We loved Alejandro and his son Diego. They were smiling and cheering as much as we were. Definitely going to surf with them again.
It was so fun! I went with my dad in the morning when the waves were massive. The two instructors were extremely kind, helpful, and full of excitement. We were able to catch many waves even while being beginners. The instructors were very friendly and helped make the experience magical. We’re definitely going back again!
What a fantastic experience. A family that wants to teach you what they love and work very hard to ensure you have a great experience. Alejandro, Oscar, and Diego put in the time and got 5 adults who have never surfed before catching multiple waves. It would not have happened without each of them working individually with us to line us up properly, teach us etiquette, help us time our paddling, and encourage us with each set of waves. They took pride in making sure we were enjoying ourselves and would walk away with a fantastic memory. Humble, encouraging, hard working...stop looking for a surf school and just book with these folks. You won't regret it.
Wonderful experience! Exceeded all our expectations. We did two days of surf lessons with Alejandro and Diego as well as a boat/snorkeling excursion and had the best time. Two of us had never surfed before and thanks to their amazing guidance, we all got up plenty of times. 10/10 recommend!
In Punta Mita, the best restaurants are not the ones advertised well. Same for the surfing schools. I have had the pleasure of surfing with Mita Adventures Surf School for over 5 years. Our son Thomas started at Anclote on a longboard and after multiple trips with Alex, he now surfs shortboard at an intermediate level on both shore and reef breaks in and around PM. Being an intermediate-advanced surfer, I went on another incredible trip with Alex outside of the Bay Monday 4/3/23 Not only did we score some fun waves, we had a great time stopping at a local bakery on the way and sightseeing south of PVR. Thursday 4/6/23, Alex took my son and I to a local beachbreak that usually works in winter. His knowledge of the area and ability to find waves never fails. We had an incredible session. What separates MIta Adven. school from others is their personal approach not only to lessons, but also to the whole experience of surfing. I enjoy talking with Alex, Alejandro, Diego, and Oscar because of their focus on family and getting to know their clients on a personal level. They are always honest and will not take you to a surf break if the conditions are not ideal. I have many relatives and friends that have received lessons from them and they never had had a bad experience. This includes trips snorkeling as well. Alejandro is an excellent longboarder, hiker, and mountain-biker. Diego is a phenomenal long-boarder and fisherman. Oscar is fantastic on a long and short board. Alex is one of the best surfers in PM in my opinion, but he is a better instructor and all his students are grateful he make a run for a professional career surfing. He is a fantastic teacher. All of them are respectful of others in the water and know everyone in the area. Please do yourself, family, and friends a favor and chose Mita Adventures Surf School. I promise you will not regret it. I own a vacation home in PM and do not need surf lessons, but I prefer to take trips with Alex and the rest all the time because of the experience. You will too, whether it is surfing, fishing, hiking, or mountain-biking.
Incredible day!!! Two girlfriends and I (all rookie surfers) spent the morning learning and having fun with these super fun, friendly guys. Highlight of our trip! Highly recommend!
I came to the area with friends, and had set up two days of surf guiding with Alex. He was super friendly, knowledgeable and showed us a great time!
My son and I spent the morning with Alex Jr. and Diego and had a great time. I am a beginner and they got me surfing in no time. Felt very safe and well cared for the whole time. My son who is more an intermediate level also had an awesome time perfecting his technique. What a lovely family company. Since you travel to the surf break in their boat, they have the ability to find the best conditions based on the weather. Highly recommend them. We will be back for sure !
My my wife and I took surf lessons from Alajandro Outstanding lessons my wife was surfing on the 1st wave. The best part is Alajandro and his 2 boys Alex and Diego treated us as friends and family. We rented boards for the entire week. They gave us great recommendations of local knowledge of hikes, surfing, food and boat trips. Can’t wait to go back to see them and surf.
Fun activity for our family! Instructors were fabulous! They helped each one of us have a great time surfing!
Only our second time surfing and Alex Jr. had us up on our first waves! Great family with lots of great information about the area. He took care of myself (45 yo) and my two children (16 and 14) and treated us like family. Highly recommend them. We had the waves to ourselves away from the crowds. Don't hesitate to book with them!
These guys are top notch. Coolest locals ever. If you need anything. Boards, lessons, boat transport to different breaks, any info you need in the area…..these guys should be top on your list if you visit the punta mita area. Very well spoken english. Will help you improve your spanish speaking skills. Best prices on the point.
I'm 50 y/o and grew up surfing in NE Florida. My kids (boy=13, girls=9, 12) have had multiple lessons with Alejandro, Alex, Diego multiple times. My daugthers will only take surf lessons from Alex. My son started with longboard at anclote and stinky's 2/2020. After 4 trips to PM and lessons, with Alex, he is paddling into his own waves at all of the surrounding breaks on a short board in overhead (for him) surf with confidence. This would not have happened so quickly without proper direction. Alex is the BEST surf instructor I've ever seen. He teaches every aspect of surfing; including catching a wave. His style is simple, informative, and extremely fun. Alex shares his strong family values with my son during their sessions. He knows every break at all tides and even with a crowd, he will get him on some great waves. While being informative, he's careful not to overload one with too much information and focuses on having fun and a great experience. Other surfers in the line-up comment to me how good Alex is with my son. Spring break 4/2021, Alex took my son and 2 friends out surfing at la lancha/lagoon in 4-6 ft. surf. While surfing with them, Alex kept them safe and got them on some great larger waves. I trust Alex wholeheartedly because he watches all his students very closely to ensure safety at all times. A week ago, Alex took us on the best surf day trip on some incredible waves I've ever experienced. The waves were the icing on the cake. The trip to the spot, home-made fresh guacmole on the beach, a small hike in the mountains, and the experience of seeing part of Mexico made it an unforgettable trip. Whether you're a beginner, intermediate or experienced surfer traveling to PM, I will only recommend and choose Mita Adventures-Alex Jr., Alejandro, and Diego who will give you the best surf experience.
Alejandro was awesome the day we had planned our lessons there were no waves. So we rescheduled for a couple days later. I have been trying to surf for years, he had me up and surfing in 30 minutes. Very friendly respectful instructor.
By for the high light of our trip was my wife and I getting surf lessons from Alejandro. Alex was so professional and so kind and encouraging I can not recommend him enough. An amazing experience!! My wife is a beginner and she was surfing so well after a 2 hr lesson. We are from San Diego and I surf several times a month and I took home some great pointers too. Thank you Alejandro for making our trip special and sparking a new interest in my wife to learn to surf!!! You are awesome!!!!
Alex, Alejandro and Diego were great and very helpful with all of us. They know the area by heart and have tons of experience. It is hard not to want to hang out with them after the lessons. Definitely coming back to the area and to go surfing with them!
My wife and I LOVED our lesson with Alex Jr. He was very patient and knowledgeable. It was our first time surfing but we felt very comfortable, and always had a push/ tips when needed! They also snapped some awesome pictures for us and didn’t charge for them!
Alex and his sons were incredible. They took our 6 year old out and had him surfing on his first session. Definitely recommend him!!
This is a family before being a company, so they are fun, relax, and nice. They are super professional and awesome with kids. They are patient are give good tips so you can succeed to surf. They can also help you if you want to be a better surfer and correct some aspects of your surfing. Not only they will teach you how to surf, but they can take you to a snorkelling trip, boat trip, mountain hike, and many other activities. They master these sports and know their region very well. We did many classes and activities with them along the week. I recommend a group class first, and then one personal class (at least) to feel more confident and learn more about surfing. Then, trust them for further activities! We met Alex and his sons by surprise. We haven't even searched on the Internet yet for a surf school for my very enthusiast husband, my 6 years old son, and me (a bit afraid of surfing!). We thus didn't know they were so well rated on TripAdvisor and Google. But this is what we travel for: discover new places and wonderful people. Thanks to you guys. :-)
Alex and his son's took such great care of our family. My wife and I and two kids (8 and 6 years old) had the best two hour lesson we could have ever hoped for. They worked so well with our kids to make sure they had fun and were safe. It was the highlight of our vacation. Thank you so much!
We have been coming to Punta Mita for years and was disappointed when we heard the normal person we go through for boards was gone. When we arrived at La Cabaña in late July, we were introduced to Alex and immediately became friends. He is seriously one of the BEST people I have ever met. So friendly and welcoming and great with kids! We were only planning on renting stand up paddle boards but during our nine day trip we ended up doing so much more with Alex! He helped arrange a fishing trip for us to catch Mahi Mahi (Dorado) and we had SUCH a great time, we planned a very spontaneous trip for two days later and had the same exciting experience! After spending almost every day on boards snorkeling, Alex invited us to join a surfing lesson. While my husband is a very experienced surfer, I am not so I was very nervous. Alex ensured that I was safe and took extra efforts to calm my nerves and made the experience so exciting! He was so professional and very knowledgeable! We really became friends with Alex and are already planning our next trip to try surfing again, snorkeling and even a trip to monkey mountain for hiking. THANK YOU Alex for making sure our family had the best vacation ever, we can’t wait to see you again!
We took a snorkeling tour Marieta Islands without paying for the access to the Hidden Islands. We met Alex at the local restaurant La Cabana on Anclote Ave. The meeting point was easy. Then we walked to the tour boat and had a short ride to the first island where we walked and viewed a cave. Next we toured around the islands and snorkeled. Unfortunately it was a bit of a windy day so the water was a bit choppy. Seeing the blue-footed booby birds on the island was a real treat. The highlight of excursion was watching my 23 year old daughter take her surf class. Alex gave her pre-instruction before they went out to the water. He made sure her clothing was appropriate and I was impressed with his professionalism and integrity. She managed to stand up at the end of her lesson and says that is now something she will remember the rest of her life. I do appreciate our day with Alex and his son. Thanks for the memories Mita Adventuras!
Alex and his son Diego took my fiancé and I out for a one day surf lesson and it was amazing. It was my first time trying to surf and with Alex's instruction, I was able to catch my second wave, stand up and ride it all the way to the beach! Diego was with me in the water the entire time and made the experience feel quite safe. A couple days later we were back in Punta Mita and rented boards from Alex (very affordable) and he went out for a session with us! Alex is extremely knowledgable regarding the area, and seems to know just about every local in town. He also set up a fishing charter for my entire family and was extremely flexible regarding dates and times. We felt like we met a true friend on this vacation and are sure to contact him on our next adventure to Mexico. I would absolutely recommend Alex for anything offered on his website. He is professional and has a calm personality that is perfect for this tropical vacationland.
Although It was my first surf class, I can say that my friend and I had an amazing time, Alex makes you feel that everything you want to do can be done, he is an excellent teacher, patient and super friendly, we really had an experience to repeat. If you’re thinking about taking classes, Alex is definitely the best option at all.
I had a great time learning to surf with Alejandro and Alex. I (28) went with my sister (26) and my parents. I’d never been surfing before. Alejandro and Alex took us to a beautiful beach. They are both great instructors. They gave us great tips and advice and made sure that we all got up surfing by the end of the lesson. I can’t wait to go surfing again and I’d love to try out some of the other Mita Aventuras activities.
We found out about Mita Adventures when I googled “Surfing Lessons Bucerias”. My partner and I had surf lessons last year in Sayulita. Good lessons but very crowded and dirty beach there. Our daughters were joining us this year in Bucerias and they thought surfing lessons would be fun. We contacted Alejandro (Alex) early on via email and arranged a date and time. He advised that if conditions weren’t good right in Punta Mita he could take us to a different beach. The night before we communicated via email then what’s app and confirmed the start time. We caught a cab to get there (there were 4 of us $250 pesos). Alex’s son (also Alejandro) joined us as well as another man who was the photographer- a bonus that I had not anticipated. Once in Punta de Mita there the decision was to take us to a secluded beach where the waves were predicted to be better. They provided rash guards (sun protection) and a reminder to apply sunblock. A short drive back along the highway, a short walk to a beach and we were there. Dry land training for about 10 minutes then into the water. The instruction was great, both Alex and his son provided supportive and enthusiastic support to the learners. Lots of space to surf - so different from our experience the year before Fun! And quite tiring! After the session they directed us to a great place for lunch near the highway and we caught a bus back to Bucerias (a bus comes every 15 minutes and costs about 20 pesos pp to Bucerias) So much fun we are already planning another session next year! Thank you to both Alejandros!
Alex and Diego made the whole learning to surf easy and enjoyable. They showed us on dry land the techniques and then helped us on the water to get up and surf. They even set up an umbrella on the beach for my mom to sit under while we took to the waves. They had all the equipment for our day and we surfed long after the lessons ended. Their English was awesome and they were a lot of fun. We would go back again when we are back in Mexico. Don't forget to later up the sun screen on all exposed skin. They did offer us rash guards but we brought our own and they have booties which I would recommend you wear.
Small Company Big Heart is so true. Alex and his team (including Simon his dog) are kind, genuine people who truly want visitors to have the best experience possible. We went out whale watching and paddle boarding – terrific experience. Alex is a true pro and clearly highly experienced in everything he has to offer. Outstanding service, authentic interaction, real pleasure to be with. Get in touch with this guy when you want to do activities in Punta de Mita – you’ll be glad you did.
Our 14 yr old granddaughter learned to surf at her first lesson with Alex. He was prompt to reply to my email and greeted us at las cabanas as planned. He is a father of teenagers himself and knows how to engage his students. Simon the dog came along as well to entertain the whole family as we watched from the beach This is our second outing with Alex. We also hiked monkey mountain with him a couple years ago. He is very knowledgeable and makes the adventures fun. I would highly recommend Mita adventures!
This one may be a bit long but you will thank me after you read it and book through Mita Adventures. After reading reviews for several days, we selected Mita Adventures for our choice of guided tours. We decided on the Monkey mountain hike because of our love for the wild and my girlfriend’s love of torturing me. She is in great shape and I am a bit...... slower and well rounded as my love for hiking is dwarfed by my love of food. Communicating with Alex via email was easy and his responses are quick and clear. We met in Punta Mita where we rode with him to the starting point. He explained so much about the area and the history of the town and the mountain that the history lesson was worth the money spent. The hike was fascinating and scenic as we traveled up roads and through farmlands, eventually getting to the jungle. We were accompanied by Simone, (Alex’s awesome and energetic dog) that walked point which made us feel safe from the wildlife. The hike was fun and easy for the most of the trip but there were some sections that winded (only) me. My girlfriends pace was blistering and we eventually go to the top faster than normal. Instead of the 1hr and 15 minutes to the top, it only took us 50 minutes. Once we were at the top, the view, was absolutely beautiful. Well worth every drop of sweat and I would do it every day if I could while we were here. I wanted to ask Alex, where can we go tomorrow. A piece of friendly advice for safety....... watching the sun set all the way seems romantic but once it starts to touch the water, I would recommend heading back. I can’t imagine navigating the top section in the dark. Alex took us back at the perfect time. We passed a group from another tour company heading up (with 10-20 minutes to the top) on our way down. I was scared for them. If he asks you if you want to get dinner afterwards.... do it. It was the most out of the way stand and some of the best food we have had since we got here. I highly recommend the Jimika, pronounced Hamika. It’s a hibiscus tea that is wonderful. A little insight.... there was only one negative review on here and it really didn’t concern us but it made sense after Alex gave us instructions and warned us. If you are coming from Puerto Vallarta, the taxis there are cheaper to get to Punta Mita. If you try to take a taxi from Punta Mita back, they are much more expensive. (Yes, the taxis in Punta Mita price gouge) If you have your driver from Puerto Vallarta stay in the area by “buying him a beer” aka paying a small fee, he can sit around and give you a ride back which is cheaper in the long run. Alex explained this so I don’t know why the bad review person complained. Also, if someone from somewhere insists that you pay for something you don’t want aka the restaurant lady.... don’t pay and walk away. The last thing on the bad review..... if you call and are rude and cuss out the wife of the guide...... I would not give you pictures either.
Wow! Alexandro and his son Diego made our surfing adventure an amazing experience! They did everything possible to help us feel comfortable and capable. I was nervous to begin, but their patience, positive attitude and help made us successful. We caught several waves with their expertise and assistance. I highly recommend Mita Adventures! Put this on your bucket list!
I've taken lessons a few times over the years, but don't live near the coast, so I don't get to surf regularly, Alex customized the lesson to my level, I definitely made the best 'turn' I've ever made on a surfboard.
This review is a year after our visit but I wanted to give them a chance . . . after multiple emails and phone calls were not returned we've given up. I can't believe that we are the only people who had this type of experience. In summary *It's not entirely Mita Aventura's fault, Punta de Mita is a bit like the Hotel California. You can come in very easily but leaving will cost you. * Mita Aventuras has decided that you will buy your lunch from a not very friendly lady on the beach. Or at least pay for lunch. Cheers. * They will offer you their camera to take digital photos but then never send them to you. Details Arranging lessons for our family of 4 was convenient and easy. I found M.A. on TripAdvisor and booked because of the great reviews here. We took a taxi from Nuevo Vallarta with our 2 young children to P. de M. We arrived at the beach and met Alex. As we were exiting the taxi, Alex asked if we wanted to pay our taxi driver to wait for us for several hours to give us a ride back to the hotel. We asked Alex why we would do this - couldn't we just get a taxi from P. de M. when were finished? It turns out that taxis out of P. de M. are very expensive - our return taxi would be about 3x the inbound rate (about $75-$80 usd). Imaging budgeting for your round trip taxi, in a foreign country with two children under 10, and learning that your $50 roundtrip taxi ride is now $100. This experience started us off on the wrong foot but we figured we'd try to make the best of it and at least enjoy our day and great surfing lessons. Alex welcomed us and showed us to the beach. He indicated we should leave our belonging on some tables on the beach. The lessons were actually excellent. We had expected Alex but he also brought 2 other instructors. They were patient, friendly and skilled. Alex had a very nice camera and offered us the use of his camera to take pictures. Since his camera was nicer than our camera phones - we turned off our phones and used his camera. We went to get our belongings and a woman we had never seen before emerged from a building near the tables with lunch menus. She offered lunch - we did not want lunch since we already had meal plans and one of our members has a severe food allergy so we don't eat out on the spur of the moment. The woman became angry and told us that we actually owed her for lunch whether we ate it or not because we left our things on her table - there was no one else, not a single soul, on the beach aside from us - so we were not taking up a spot that could have been used by someone else. At this point the woman was raising her voice and we could not see Alex. We definitely did not want to eat anything from this angry woman. We apologized for using her space and told her that Alex said it was okay. At that moment, it became clear that this was a set up and we did not feel safe. We ended up giving her some money just so we could leave. We finally made the walk up the hill into the town of P. de M. all the while feeling the stare of the taxi drivers waiting by the beach. We were the only tourists we encountered on the beach or in town. A shop keeper told us where to find a bus to Nuevo Vallarta. Alex was right, though, the bus ride with the local resort employees was pleasant and really scenic. We returned to our hotel and I texted Alex with my email address so that we could see the pictures we took of ourselves. He said he would send them but didn't. We emailed him and called Mita Aventuras but never heard from them again.
Alex was responsive to my emails, confirmed a day/time and was there on schedule. He was super nice, spending time with my family before and after the lesson just to chat. The surfing itself was great. My son was able to ride the second wave he tried and most all the rest thereafter.
Our family of 4 (2 teenagers) met up with Alex. He's like meeting up with an old friend you haven't seen in a long time who is living the life you wish you had pursued. Alex instantly made everyone feel welcome. We headed out to the Marietas Islands for snorkeling and exploring of Hidden Beach. Alex guided us around by boat until we could gain admission to the Hidden Beach portion (they limit the number of visitors). He was eager to show us interesting things and show us some highlights I don't think you'd get with a large, commercial operation that caters to large groups. He even plucked a jellyfish off the top of the water to show my kids. And yes, the teenagers were impressed. Once we arrived at Hidden Beach, Alex asked if we were willing to do a little scrambling to see other areas. Of course, we were and were glad we did. He had us crawling through narrow openings that opened to large cave-like areas and then timed the waves as we continued around them to other parts of the island. All along Alex was taking pictures unbeknownst to us. We had an outstanding 1/2 day with Alex. Next time - family surf lessons. He also recommended a great place that ended up being one of our best/favorite meals...Naef Cafe in Punta Mita. Go spend a day with Alex; you won't regret it.
Alex is a great teacher. We surf with a lot of fun and a quick, but effective lessons. I never do surf before and I ride a wave in the first hour! It is a real pleasure to meet Alex and his son Eddy! "PADDLE PADDLE PADDLE!!!"
My fiancee and I had a great morning surfing in Punta Mita with Alex and his two sons (and can't forget their amazing dog, Simón). They were a great family crew, made us feel comfortable out on the waves, and got us standing up on the boards in no time. Couldn't recommend more highly!
We spent two days of surf lessons for an introduction to surfing with Alex. He did a great job of evaluating our experience and giving us exactly what was needed to get us up and riding the waves. Alex was willing to ride all day if that is what it took to give us the best experience possible. I was incredibly happy that we came across Mita Adventures and cannot wait until our next adventure with him and his family. Surfing with Alex was a highlight of our PV adventure. Thank you for your kindness, Alex!
Alex was AMAZING, I was really nervous at first, he explained everything. We had a land simulation on being on a longboard. Once in the ocean he is with you the entire time, safety with the board, respect for the ocean, we road a few small waves and then the magic began. I cannot say enough to thank him for this incredible experience. Punta Mita surf lessons, this is your go to guy. Thank you...Best, Eileen
Learning to surf has been on my bucket list for over 20 years. Out of the options for surf schools in Punta de Mita, I picked Mita Aventuras because it is a small family operation and the excellent reviews here on tripadvisor. Alex was awesome and very accommodating for this newbie. I surfed private lessons for 3 days and then when the fourth day didn’t work out due to conditions, Alex met my wife and I at Stinky’s, gave me a board and said go play on the small waves. I cannot say enough good things about Alex – just a great dude – and his dog, Simon……..I think my wife fell in love with him. A few things about Alex – he has very good communication to set up everything, he is honest about wave conditions and didn’t take us a couple of days or adjusted times due to the conditions, and he worked with us to give us a good understanding of the waves, currents, positioning, and techniques needed to be successful. Quick summary of the trip – surfed the first two days at Anclote (my wife caught a wave on her second try and I caught a wave on my first try). Moved on to La Lancha on the third day (with a day of rest in between – surfing is hard on the body). Fantastic place to surf when the waves are good – great learning experience there – was able to catch some waves truly on my own. Like I said above, our fourth day didn’t work out due to conditions, but on the small waves at Stinky’s, I was able to catch several on my own and rode my very last wave all the way in to the beach – awesome way to end a fantastic trip. Thank you to Alex and also Simon, Diego and Pepe. You are a great crew and I hope to catch a wave with all of you in the future.
What a blessing to have found Mita Aventuras! This family owned and operated business is simply the best. We recently traveled to the Punta de Mita area because it has been a goal for my husband to learn to surf for as long as I’ve known him (20+ years and not an easy feat for a Midwestern guy.) When searching surf schools, we came across Mita Aventuras and booked private lessons through Alex - they also do hiking, biking, paddle boarding, etc. though we didn’t do those activities. My husband talked me into taking lessons with him the first day and with Alex and Pepe’s careful instruction and patience I caught a wave on my second try! Clearly, they know how to teach surfing well. Alex is friendly, kind hearted, and passionate about what he does. He goes above and beyond to make sure you have an excellent experience. While my husband continued with several more days of surfing, I spent my time hanging out with Alex’s dog, Simon, the awesome surf guard. He always had his eyes on the surf, but swam with me, walked the beaches of Anclote and La Lancha, and relaxed in the shade. He was great company. Alex and his crew made our first surf trip very fun and memorable. It could not have gone better for first timers like us. I highly recommend them for your next outdoor adventure!
We just came back from an amazing week with the Mita Aventuras family. My 8 and 9 year old and I were all beginner surfers and booked 3 days of lessons with Alex. Little did we know that when you book with Alex and you end up with his whole family. Each one of us had individual attention and instruction both on the beach and in the water. They spoke great English and have a very good understanding of the waves, currents, and technique. Whether you are a beginner or an avid surfer I would highly recommend Mita Aventuras for your surfing adventures as they have the knowledge and equipment to handle any skill level. I would return to surf again with Alex the next time we are in Punta Mita and infact had so much fun he would be one of the reasons we would return to the area.
Alex helped us have the best vacation ever! Whatever you want to do in Punta Mita Alex can make it happen. Biking, surfing, fishing tours etc.. Thank you!
We went to Alex and Mita Aventuras based on Trip Advisor reviews, hoping to go snorkeling at the Marietas Islands. Alex suggested that conditions would make for difficult snorkeling and poor visibility, and wouldn't want to take us there knowing it wouldn't be a good experience. So we ended up having a surf lesson instead. Luckily for us, Alex was available right then, so after a quick change, he and his son Diego and another partner whose name I forget got the boards ready for us and in no time we were on the water right in front of his "office" on Anclote Beach. His awesome dog Timon was part of the team as well and watched as we surfed. Alex was super friendly, positive, and patient, especially with me -- I just couldn't get my balance on the board, much to the amusement of my family. All three were full of smiles and clearly enjoy helping people surf and enjoy their home waves. Alex is a great instructor for new surfers and kids, and his team follows his lead. I hope we'll get a chance to go back to Punta Mita and go snorkeling with him as well.
I found Mita Aventuras through TripAdvisor, and had to review after the great experience me and my family had. Alex was a great boat guide, and terrific with our two kids, 8 and 6. We all snorkeled during the ride out to the Marieta Islands, and went surfing the following afternoon. He was very positive with the surf lessons and had as much enjoyment from watching us snorkel and surf as we did in seeing tons of fish and managing the waves. He also took my camera and took lots of pics when we were on the boat or out in the water. I highly recommend him to anyone wanting an adventure in the waves around Punta de Mita.
My fiance and I met Alex for a great hike up Monkey Mountain. Alex brought his adorable 11 month old puppy Simon and the 4 of us on a morning adventure with a view. The hike is moderately challenging which made us feel great after all of the margaritas and tacos we were consuming. The view at the top gives you a 360 of Punta Mita and Sayulita. We will have to return in the summertime for surfing and snorkeling with Alex.
We had read about Alex and Mita Aventuras before coming to Punta Mita...and all the reviews are spot on! Alex and Alex Jr. are great. Being a small company they can customize everything to your specific needs/wants/whims. We started out paddle boarding with a short lesson on the beach from Alex Jr. then took off into the Bay with Alex along with us. Once we (or at least my wife) got the hang of paddle boarding, Alex noticed some nice wave action a short distance away. He took us in that direction and, before we knew it, we were paddle surfing! Not something we had planned on but turned out to be the highlight of the day! Riding the waves on a paddle board is a great experience, highly recommended. If you are in Punta Mita and looking for any type of activity, I highly recommend Alex and Punt Aventuras. You can find them on the main street in an upstairs office next to the pedestrian bridge (behind the 2 ATM's) or hanging out on the beach behind their office. Can't recommend them enough. Thanks Alex and Alex Jr. for a great time!
We went on a trip with Alex last August when we were in Punta Mita. We were vacationing there again last week with more family. We knew we wanted to take them on a boat trip and we set up something with Alex because of our great experience last time. We had a group of 5 adults and 5 young children. In 3 hours we saw lots of whales, dolphins, and all the kids caught fish. It was definitely the highlight of the trip. We had such a great time that a few of us adults went with Alex a couple days later for some more fishing. He set us up with a very experienced fishermen and we caught four BIG yellow fin tuna. Alex and his team do such a great job of making sure that everyone is enjoying themselves. He does a great job of tailoring a trip for exactly what your family wants. You won't get this kind of personal service from one of the big companies in the area offering boat trips. We are going back in August and will definitely be taking another trip with Alex.
this hike was great, we met Alex in punta mita, and we drove over to the mountain. We hiked up and it took 1.5 h up and about 45 min down. The sunset over the bay was simply stunning! The way back was a bit dark and it would've been good if we each had our own flashlight. I think you have to be moderately fit to do this hike, it was beautiful and I would do it again. Thanks Alex
