Such an amazing tour with lots of sightseeings, Alex, our guide had a ton of experience and knowledge of the lands and beaches. Truly a highlight of our trip, do not miss out!

Itinerary
In this hike we will explore different hidden beaches following a Beach/Jungle trail ABOUT: We meet in Zona Romantica, old center of Puerto Vallarta. Here we take an urban transport just like the locals do! After a pleasant 25 min ride along the coast we get off at a picturesque fisher town. Here we start our hike following the riverbank and ascent in the tropical forest with some amazing views! A short 40 minute hike brings us to our first destination: Colomitos Beach, officially the smallest beach in Mexico! After a rest and pictures we continue our path and leave the many tourist behind us to explore more hidden beaches. Here we have the opportunity to swim alone and feel in paradise. If the sea is calm, we will visit a secret place where to snorkel and observe a great diversity of fish! After this refreshing break we continue to our final destination: 'Playa las animas'. Here we can have an incredible local seafood plate. (Not included) Last but not least we take the boat back to where we started the hike. Here we will see the bay from a total different perspective! *Min age: 10 yrs/max: 60 yrs **Cruise ship passengers: take in account LOCAL time vs BOAT time!

NO SANDLES. Close toes shoes only. Beautiful scenery but risky tour. Very informative and learning experience. Very nice beaches and worth it, if you are in good health.
Juan was amazing. The beaches were awesome and the hike was fun. There's plenty of areas to buy water or beers. The snorkeling had tons of fish
Great Guide and Beautiful Views! Victor was such a great tour guide! He was knowledgeable, patient, and very accommodating. We had dinner reservations later that evening, and he was flexible and helped us catch a water taxi to make it back in time. We really appreciated that! The tour took us along Puerto Vallarta’s beautiful jungle coastline, visiting Colomitos and hidden beaches, with opportunities to snorkel and enjoy the scenery. One thing to know before booking—the hike was more rugged and challenging than we expected, with uneven, rocky terrain. I would definitely recommend this tour for those who enjoy hiking and are comfortable with a little adventure! Overall, a great experience with beautiful views and a wonderful guide. Highly recommend Victor!
Massive kudos to our guide Juan, aka "Johnny Jungle"! He was courteous, deeply knowledgeable, and kept the energy high even when the tide was up. We loved that the tour started with a ride on the public bus with the locals—it was a brilliant way to learn how to navigate the transit routes. The hike up the mountain trail was fantastic and led us to some truly stunning hidden beaches. After soaking it all in, Johnny took us to a local spot for a meal packed with incredible flavor. To top it all off, our boat ride back to the starting point during a quick passing storm was an absolute thrill! Tips for future travelers: Bring plenty of water, water shoes (or closed-toe shoes), a towel, and sunblock. Bring small bills (pesos) for snacks, drinks, and tips—especially if you want photos with the locals' parrots and iguanas. This was a fantastic experience from start to finish.
Oh my my This was my best experience in my vacation period Alex was awesome Very knowledgeable guy, he knows in and out of the forest. I'd infinity times recommend Alex! I can't stop talking about him
Al was a great guide, and the food was delicious! He made sure to let each restaurant know about dietary restrictions. A lovely way to spend a few hours and go to local restaurants and food stands.
Absolutely amazing way to explore Puerto Vallarta beaches and jungle. The guide was terrific. Would come back any time
Alex was a great guide, nice, friendly small group, The weather was perfect and he explained all the stops and our next destinations. Highly recommended for active, adventurous people.
Super fun, casual day. The short hikes between beaches were perfect and make you feel like a local checking out the hidden spots of PV. The snorkeling was great and everything went smoothly. It’s a little bit of a bus ride south of town but totally worth it.
It was super amazing. The views the water!! Juan was super awesome!! Highly recommend also the little boat ride at the end was great
It was our first time in Puerto Vallarta and we really wanted to go snorkeling while we were here. When we saw snorkeling plus visiting 6 beaches we thought this would be the perfect guided trip. While snorkeling at the first beach we stopped at, I mistakingly swam to some rocks to try to catch my breath. When I put my foot down I stepped on a sea urchin which pierced deep into my skin. Our tour guide Alex was prepared. He pulled out a bag with everything that was needed to start disinfecting and pulling out pieces of the sea urchin from my foot. He sat there for over 30 minutes and managed to pull everything out which allowed me to walk normally and finish the rest of the hike. Aside from my mishap, Alex was also very informative when it came to local spots that were good and he was very funny and easy going. Alex was very easy to converse with and very likable. Thank you Alex for being the best tour guide and for helping me with my foot.
Great tour, with a very friendly guide named Alex. Definitely would do It again and recommend to others.
Huge shout out to Alex! He was amazing and very helpful with my parents who are older but managed to do this hike! Definitely come prepared to walk and relax at the different beaches. The water along the way is amazing and I highly recommend this tour.
Absolutely amazing experience! This hike was a blast, and coming during the rainy season is bound to add to the adventure. Rocco was extremely kind, personable and knowledgeable. The group had a blast traveling by foot and/or water taxi (I very much appreciated the option to skip the first leg and water taxi directly to the first beach, this allowed more room for fun for my bad knee.) The restaurant we ate at was super hospitable, they gave us cool towels and the opportunity to shower the sand off our feet before we ate. Cannot recommend this tour enough! Thank you Rocco!!
It was fun! We saw some beautiful beaches and the hike really wasn't that bad (a little up and down but if you hike, you'll be fine) - we wore hiking sandals and it was fine! The beaches were SO busy (Sunday). One star less because the restaurant we went to at the end was a little meh and we were there for about an hour too long (it was pretty busy) - it was just too long on that bit. Overall we had a good time but I don't know that I'd do it again.
Juan Carlos was a friendly and gregarious tour guide, full of plant and tree knowledge. He was great at giving us time and keeping us at a good steady pace in the hiking. The scenery was epic and it was great fun to visit and stop at each beach spot, with tasty food at the restaurant and great views. I had a fun time!
Thank u Issac for making this a wonderful experience. He was amazing and even let my daughter borrow goggles to see fish! The first 2 beaches are the best, my daughter (22) is used to being barefoot and did just fine with no shoes.
Our tour guide Juan Carlos was amazing! We always felt safe and comfortable trekking through difficult parts of the hike. We got to learn so much about the history and the nature of Vallarta. We would book again!
The tour is amazing, beautiful views, and we had a lot of fun with our guide Juan who was very helpful and friendly. If you have to pick one tour while in Puerto Vallarta, this one is definitely the best!
Juan was a great tour guide and we had lots of fun. 10/10 experience that I would recommend for anyone.
Amazing day! Juan knew every trail and beach, kept us safe, and made it so much fun. He was patient with our group, shared great stories along the way, and the snorkeling spot he picked was stunning
Not an easy hike, but Juan was amazing. Some folks didn't think they could do it, but Juan helped push them through. The beaches were amazing. Bring a lot of water
Amazing experience and our guide Diego was great!
Such an incredible day! The weather was perfect, the beaches were gorgeous, and the jungle was so fun! Definitely wear bug spray and sunscreen.
The hike is long so wear comfortable tennis shoes. The scenery is beautiful. Our tour guide Isaac was very knowledgeable and patient with us. He made sure everyone was accounted for before we went on to the next beach.
Juan was an absolute pleasure. He gave us interesting facts about the terrain and had a fun attitude throughout. Everyone should experience the Puerta Vallarta coast with Juan!
Alex was super knowledgeable and helpful. I was a bit slow during the hike compared to others in our group, and Alex showed genuine concern, always making sure I was okay, and I made it to the end. It was a fun day!
Isaac was a great guide!! He was knowledgeable and we all felt safe thru out the trail. He told us where to be extra careful. Gave us time to catch our breath. 10/10 tour for sure!! As a solo traveler , I really did enjoy being around other great people
This tour was one of my favorite experiences in Puerto Vallarta. The landscape was gorgeous, and everywhere we looked there was something new to see — birds, iguanas, butterflies, flowers. Armando was a warm and welcoming guide who shared interesting details about the flora, fauna, and history of the area throughout the hike. If you hike regularly, the trail is very manageable. Cooling off in the water and swimming with the tropical fishes was a great experience! Lunch was delicious as well. I would absolutely recommend this experience to anyone who wants to see the quieter, more natural side of Puerto Vallarta.
This is definitely not for the faint of heart. When that sun peaks over the mountains, it can get pretty hot!! Lots of electrolytes during the hike, and save the alcohol for the end.
Not a long hike (maybe 2.5 miles), but has some ups and downs of a couple of hundred feet. In cool conditions, it's no problem even for a casual hiker. But when the outside temp is 90 degrees F (like the day I went), the hike feels strenuous. Prepping for a hot hike (e.g., good hat, sunscreen, a bottle or two of electrolyte drink) will definitely make it easier to do the hike. Although the guide did the entire hike barefoot (completely amazing), I don't recommend it. Plenty of rocks, tree roots, branches, leaves, old boards, etc. on the trail, so good shoes will keep you happy. The Viator trip is well worth the cost since the guide makes everything easy. The bus out to the starting point and the boat ride back are covered. The guide helps you with any food/water/bathroom needs, and takes you to a good restaurant at the end (you'll be hungry). He makes sure you don't go off trail and checks on how you're doing. Lastly, there's plenty of time at each beach to get in the water or lounge on the beach. Overall, a great trip at a very reasonable cost.
This was a great hike and the beaches were beautiful. I really enjoyed the snorkeling experience on the first beach, there was so many fish around us! And watching the pelicans dive for them. Alex was an excellent guide, very bubbly, patient and professional throughout. He was very knowledgeable about the landscape. Highly recommend this tour.
The highlight of my trip and a wonderful way to experience the vast beauty of Puerto Vallarta. I was in constant awe of the views and how clear the water was. Juan was energetic, knowledgeable, and lead with ease speaking both English and Spanish. If you want an adventure and a way to see how gorgeous this haven is, I HIGHLY recommend.
Juan Carlos was an absolute excellent guide . The trip starts on a fun bus ride and a cool initial start at Bocas de Tomatlan . We loved the hike where we learned about the native trees and even ate a termite . Fun fact : it was tasty ! The hike was fun, it’s a bit challenging but totally doable . Seeing the hidden beaches made everything worth it . We ended at a fun restaurant with delicious food . Overall it was a great highlight of our trip ! Gracias Juan !!
We liked this tour and our guide Diego was good guy. Hopping on the local bus was fun and the starting point in Bocas was lovely. However there were a few issues. First if you're taking a cruise don't take this tour. It takes a full day and trying to make it in time and get back in time isnt realistic. If we hadn't left early, paying for our own return water taxi and bus, we would have been late to our ship. The tour company repeatedly said " no problem" on the timing. Not true, unless our group of very average and relatively medium low fit tourists ( some wearing very inappropriate footware for a hike) was unusual...Second not the fault of the tour but I got stung by agua mala ( jellyfish polyps) the first time I went in for a swim. My husband was fine, but i am very susceptible. I only learned afterwards that they are common in that area from April through the summer. Major bummer ending up with stinging skin and a bad rash for several days. While i know people rely on tourism dime, some warning of possible stings would have been reasonable. Third, on one section of the trail, the hike was too gravely and slippery for even the more fit dude in the group, who was wearing good shoes. I don't know if something happened to the trail recently, but it would be good to share more about the expected hiking conditions.
We went into this not really knowing what to expect but it didn’t disappoint. The guide was great and knowable about the areas history. The views were breathtaking. Take water and paseos. The restaurant at the last beach is well worth it.
Small group which made the experience personal and special. Our guide, Jungle Johnny, was engaging, energetic, kind, knowledgeable, and fun. We started the hike with monility work lead by Johnny and enjoyed a leisurely pace to the beaches. We got great pictures and made friends! I enjoyed the great company and conversation with our small group over fantastic seafood at Las Animas! Highly recommend!
This tour was a great opportunity to explore beaches in South Vallarta. It really does take all day, wear closed-toed shoes, bring plenty of electrolytes and sunscreen. Our guide, Juan Carlos was fun, knowledgeable, and willing to slow down the pace. The beaches are beautiful and there was enough time to swim at each of them, with small vendors selling sodas, beer and cocktails. BRING CASH. There's very limited cell service. The hike itself took about 3 hours, you end at Las Animas, and quick boat ride back to the bus stop. Your viator tickets includes the pesos fees (11 pesos each way) ask you guide for info. I'm glad we did this experience and now I have better knowledge of the beaches around us.
It was definitely a hike, but great. Juan made the day awesome regardless of how much we were sweating. The trail and beaches are a hidden gem. Definitely recommend.
We had a wonderful day with Juan. He was fun and knowledgeable. We liked his enthusiasm. We highly recommend the tour!
Very nice experience. Alex is a great guide,he knows a kot about fauna, flora and a lot of stories about the spots. absolutely recomendable! They should fimd a better partner restaurant.
pack a backpack with enough room for towels, swimsuits, and change of shoes! the views are insane and the tour guide knows the route well, Diego was the best we love him!!
Pick up wasn’t well organized, there were several groups of hikers and no signage. It took a bit to find our guide and then waited approx 15 minutes for the bus. Bring a towel, hat, sunscreen, good shoes and lots of water/gatorade. Wear clothes that you can put back on with a wet bathing suit (if you decide to swim) and a small towel to dry and clean your feet. The hike was tough in my opinion. But well worth it, for the amazing beaches you get to visit.
I would highly recommend this tour to people who like to hike, enjoy nature and beautiful hidden beaches, and who do not mind a bit of a challenge. The trail varies from easy in the beginning and towards the end, but difficult during a few stretches, having to climb up and down big boulders a few times. If you have mobility issues, it's probably not for you. The beaches are amazing, especially the first one. Our guide, Armando was great! Very friendly, engaging and fun. He kept us entertained the entire tour.
We took a bus from PV and got off at the end of the line. Hiked 3-4 miles that are probably rated hard on AllTrails. It was a great hike! We only ate at Las Animas (the final beach stop) and had no beach time. From there we took a boat to the bus stop and it took about 40 minutes to get back into PV. It was a long day, but worth it. Juan was a fun guide.
This was a fantastic excursion! Alex was our guide, and he was great! I did this hike last year when I was down on a solo trip, and wanted to share it with my travel partner. They loved it! It does take a level of fitness, as there are some steep parts, but once you reach the first beach, the hike between the others isn't too long. The trails are well pretty well maintained, and the beaches are gorgeous! Bring water, a snack and some money for the restaurant at the final beach if you want to eat there.
There was no disclosure about what we were getting into as far as hiking up and down those heels and mountains, which would have been incrediblefor the average to below person to complete this excursion without suffering. The course was not only strenuous and physically challenging, but it was dangerous! I would not recommend this trip to a person who is not extremely physically fit. The leader, the person that was working for this company was nice, but that wasn’t good enough. Words cannot explain the impact and the severityof this trip excursion. It was vaguely explained! Everything should’ve been in writing so a person would know ahead of time before purchasing what they were about to get into. The last beach was the only decent beach in this program. The rest were just mediocre and you were so fatigue from the mountain journey that you would be unable to enjoy the beaches in full. So I recommend you get an excursion that will take you to each like I noticed. That was a third-party excursion. There were other options that we learned at the end of the trip which was disappointing because there was a woman in our group who was suffering from a back injury and she was told that if she got on the boat to go to the last beach, she’d MISS OUT! Well, the beaches before the LAST BEACH weren’t impressive! WE ALL SUFFERED for nothing! And each beach we stopped for only a. SHORT TIME!!!!!! Not a good experience at ALL! NO SNORKELING PROVIDED AT ALL!!! AND it wasn’t a “TRAIL”
The hike was beautiful, and the beaches were gorgeous and perfect for dipping in for a swim between hiking. Turquoise blue, pristine water! Well-marked trail with lots of steps. Wear tennis shoes and bathing suit for sure. (A family that was grouped with me and my friend struggled with the first part of the trail due to their sandals/inadequate dress, but our guide was able to get them in a water taxi to the beach while we hiked the trail as planned—we basically had a private guide!) Speaking of our guide, Juan Carlos (aka “Johnny Jungle”) was super kind, friendly, and very knowledgeable about the area and species of the land. He clearly loves what he does and shared that appreciation for nature with us. What a great workout and fun day seeing southern, more hidden parts of PV. Meetup in ZR and bus ride in the morning were easy, water taxi back was fun, and Juan Carlos was nice enough to coordinate a bus stop near our place in Conchas Chinas on the way back so we didn’t need to go back into town. Overall, A+ adventure—it was a beautiful, memorable highlight of my time in PV!
This is a hike where you take your time to enjoy the landscape, the views, the nature, and the nice conversations with strangers. Our guide was Diego, and he was amazing, he showed us tons of plants, fruits, animals. He is very knowledgeable and clearly a big lover of nature. He asked us at the beginning if we had a booking somewhere after the hike, and everybody said no, so we took our time and it was perfect. A great mix of nature, beaches, boat, mountains. I recommend good shoes, and putting your swimsuit on before leaving since there are no toilets on the trek, but it's so hot that everything dries. Definately worth it if you want to get out of the busy streets and get some nature !
