Was very skeptical that we’d have a good time but I can say this, I now love dolphins even more!! What a great experience! Roxy our guide in the water and Yoko our 3 year old dolphin made our whole trip that day. If you don’t already love dolphins you will absolutely enjoy this experience and will come away with a real appreciation of the intelligence and gentle nature of these creatures and if you already love them you will now be dreaming of them with a happier heart. A must do and we’ll now be bringing our grandchildren and children on this excursion…for sure!

Booked a Catamaran trip with the NCL Bliss cruise and brought my PADI Open Water Certification card with me. Instead of snorkeling I asked Hugo the Divemaster if I could join them on the scuba dive. Since there were enough tanks and equipment he signed me up on the boat and processed a payment as we motored to the dive site. I was given a scuba refresher course with personalized instruction from the Divemaster Hugo since it was longer than 12 months since my last dive. The dive was very easy and the instruction was simple, yet thorough and the instructor gave confidence to the divers to perform the shallow dive (40 feet) effortlessly. We completed a decompression stop for 3 minutes on the way up as a formality and then swam approx. 50 meters on the surface back to the boat because of a very strong current driving us away. I would recommend Puerto Vallarta Adventures and Hugo the Divemaster as an excellent provider of services. Good luck Scuba divers!
To start off my husband and I went to the wrong location and got there late. Despite of that, they took such good care of us and still got us to the right place. Nicco ensured us many times and checked in with us to make sure we got to the right place. We were both very appreciative of that. Once we got there, it was a very quick and thorough lessen. They are very knowledgeable and gave great instructions. This was both our first time ever scuba diving and it was such a good experience. You got about an hour dive and got to see lots of fish and other things. Really great for a first time experience. Then once we were done it was nice to celebrate with Pina coladas on the island. Thanks so much Nicco for checking an item off my husband's bucket list.
We went through the beginner lessons with Gustavo at the Grand Velas - he was absolutely amazing! We had adults and kids in the lesson and he was funny and engaging - it's not easy to keep the young ones interested. Most importantly, he was patient and worked with our son who was having trouble with some of the skills - Gustavo knew exactly when to step back and when to push our son - he's really an amazing instructor. Our son felt very comfortable with Gustavo - highly recommended if you're staying there.
My husband and I had such a great time at the very beginning. He was a little bit anxious, but our instructor, a great job of teaching him and he ended up having a wonderful time and wants to do it again.
The water was so murky you couldn't see ,Jellyfish everywhere. It's a joke ,dont spend your money to go on this. We were doing introductory scuba .Go somewhere else.
Totally awesome, everyone from the boat to the island was fantastic. We saw dolphins from the boat and rays along with a ton of other fish under the water. I can not wait to go back and do it again.
One of the best scuba dives we have had. Turtles. Fish. And so much more. Great guides and water visibility
From reading the description, I thought this was a 7 hour intro to scuba adventure. The truth is it's mostly a long tourist boat ride to Las Caletas for a short 10 minute instruction and a 40 minute dive. For a novice like myself it was very intimidating to have a brief instruction, strap on a heavy tank, mask, fins, and get in the ocean without being able to touch ground hoping to remember the brief instruction. If you're new to Vallarta and haven't been to the beach and are interested in taking advantage of all the activities offered as well as a brief dive then you may find this enjoyable. Just be aware that scuba is absolutely not the focus of this "adventure" and certainly not worth the extra cost over what other people paid to come and enjoy all the same beach activities for much less.
I am a certified diver. We did this dive for my girlfriend who has never dove. I was very disappointed with the whole experience. I have taken friends to a discover dive service in Cozumel and had a great experience. First of all the add is misleading. There was no instruction. As stated by a previous review we got a couple of minutes instruction before we were sent into the water. The "instructor" spent another 30 seconds with each person, we only had 4 of us. When my girlfriend had trouble going under I tried to help her and was told not to. I saw another diver come over to our group. I assumed he was there to help. He was not. My girlfriend was sent back to the dock. I continued with the dive thinking she would catch up. Myself and the other 2 divers spent most of the time under water being dragged around on a rope. We kept bumping into each other. Not at all worth the 380 dollars spent.
This excursion exceeded expectations. We had dove before, but didn't have a certification, so we took this one as it did the class and a dive at once. After the dive, we had a lovely lunch beachside and had time for a cooking class, a few cocktails, and relaxing on the beach. The flamingos were beautiful. The open bar and the show on the return boat was a welcome treat.
Rafael was a bit short with us, and lacked patience. The trip was fun, but would recommend something other than Scuba.
Awesome time. Great teaching. Saw sea turtles. Puffer fish. Tiger sea snake. Morey eel. Many more fish. Wrecks. 60ft. Beginners welcome
This was a fun day overall. We booked the beginner scuba through Vallarta Adventures. Scuba: This was okay. The instructor ran through the safety/overview information in about 2 minutes, then we geared up and got in the water immediately. They do a 30 second skills test in the water and you are off. There is no pool training or written test. This isn’t a true beginner’s course with significant instruction and the instructors rush you a bit even if you are struggling with getting used to the equipment/breathing. As a compete beginner to scuba I struggled and was unable to leave the surface as the instructors did not have enough time/patience to help me get used to the breathing to go under since we were on a schedule. You just scuba nearby the pier and the water was pretty murky so you can’t see much. A few fish, a giant rope, and a sea turtle were the only attractions. The group spent about 30 minutes in the water doing scuba at a maximum depth of 20 feet. The instructors were kind but I do wish there was more actual instruction so I could have participated more. My husband did fine as he had scubaed before but he wanted to come back up to the surface to be with me once he realized I couldn’t make it down and they wouldn’t let him. I understand this was for safety reasons but we were both disappointed we couldn’t be together. Las Caletas: Las Caletas itself was super fun and very cool. There were a lot of different activities, beach areas, and seating/lounging locations. We could have spent the entire day there. Drinks were free and the staff was very friendly. They fed us a decent buffet lunch. We had about an hour after we arrived before scuba started and then 20 minutes after scuba before lunch to hang out on the beach, etc. Logistics: We arrived to the Puerto Magico around 8, and boarding for Las Caletas started at 8:15am, We did stand in line in the sun for about 25 minutes before our boat arrived, boarded the boat around 8:40am, and departed shortly after that. We arrived at Las Caletas around 9:50/10:00am. Another group arrived around 1pm. Lunch was served at 1:30 and we boarded the boat to return to Puerto Magico at 2:15. We arrived back at the Port around 3:45. The boat ride was long but the staff try to make it fun. They take your picture while you are at Las Caletas and supposedly show it/sell it to you on the boat ride back but we never got the chance to view or purchase our photos which was disappointing.
This was a solid half-day option for first time divers. I have completed 3 other 'intro dives' and this was similar experience. Scuba seminar is fast/brief on the dock. Instructors were nice. The actual dive itself is only about 40min at 35ft; minimal marine life and murky water, but still enough excitement for first timers. If you don't mind beach crowd, the remainder of the day at the Vallarta Adventures resort is worth the remaining time/price.
The visibility was poor, probably under 2 meters, and the currents were strong. Not a great experience, but the staff did their best.
O.. M.. G! We had sooo much FUN! Our scuba dive was actually a cruise to Los Caletas (a great location, beach, bar) with a lot of different activities offered: beach hammocks, floating islands with hammocks, paddle boarding, kayaking, parasailing, and scuba diving. We received intro to scuba (gear, instruction, guided dive) from a certified PADI instructor and had THE highlight of our entire PVR trip! We were nervous once we first entered the water, but once under and experiencing the sights, we forgot all about being nervous. As an intro, your dive is about 45min; the guide and cameraman pointed out different fish, eels, and the greatest thing ever: a SEA TURTLE!! (sorry, they're my favorite sea animal). At the end of your dive, you're offered pictures/video: a book, a metal print, and/or the digital files. If you're considering the scuba diving, I recommend a few days before the last day of your trip as they take a couple days to deliver your photo order(s) to you. You're supposed to have 48hrs after your dive before you fly anyway, so that gives you time to receive your book/print/pictures. We live in Alaska and while I'd already been looking into PADI scuba dive instruction, I wanted my first dive to be in warmer waters (hot location) to enjoy the experience more. Loved it and am looking forward to learning/getting certified! Definitely recommend!
We had a briefing to learn what to do while on the catamaran to the beach. We had 4 in our group, our guide and photographer. Both were helpful above and below water. We saw a variety of fish, round sting ray, jelly fish, and eel! The dive lasted about 45 minutes; they ease you into it. Once we were done diving, there was kayaking, paddle boarding, swimming, hammocks and chairs, a hike to 1 zip line and water slide. The lunch was amazing and drinks plentiful. I did not expect this great of a lunch buffet! There isn’t enough time to do everything, but we really enjoyed this beautiful beach.
The scuba lesson by our instructor Carlos was great. This was our first time scuba diving and Las Caletas was a good place for an introduction. Buffet lunch was good and plentiful. We were allowed to use other activities at Las Caletas - beach, water slides, adventure park, etc. while we waited for our turn to scuba dive. Vallarta Adventures is a great company - (not the cheapest but definitely good value and good quality). We have used them in the past and will use them in the future.
This was an incredible trip! I was so nervous but the staff (Roger was my dive master) really reassured me and made sure I knew the safety skills before taking me further underwater. Also, Las Caletas was beautiful and the lunch we were provided with was exceptional!! Thank you for an amazing experience!
My girlfriend was a little scared when she got into the water but the instructors were very patient with her and helped her feel safe and they paid close attention to her. We also enjoyed our time on the beach and the food was awesome, we had a great experience
I've always wanted to learn how to scuba dive so while visiting the Hyatt Ziva in Puerto Vallarta, I signed up for the beginner scuba class and the Los Arcos scuba diving activity. Richi at the Hyatt Ziva did an excellent job with the beginner class. My Spanish is quite limited and rusty (my own fault) so thankfully Richi spoke fluent English. He guided me through the various hand signals, mask fog clearing and water expulsion exercises, tested each learning item with me in the pool to make sure I could perform the various tasks if I needed to, and I got to swim in the scuba gear around the pool to practice buoyancy underwater with the BCD, tank, regulator, and fins. The beginner class lasted an hour or so and concluded with a true/false quiz on what I had just learned. It was awesome and Richi was incredibly professional. Next, I departed the Hyatt Ziva for Hotel Barcelo to catch the boat with the PADI certified dive masters and head for Los Arcos. The boat was packed with people either already certified in open water, or going through their open water certification examination challenges with one of the instructors. I was the only beginner on the boat but everyone from Vallarta Adventures was incredibly friendly and encouraging. Hugo O. was my dive master for my excursion and Alissa was the camera operator. Both were extremely professional and friendly and patient with some of the beginner mistakes I made during the actual dive. Even though I brought my own underwater action camera, I chose to buy the video/photos Alissa took with the more professional quality underwater camera. Charly and Canario were the other dive masters on the boat and each was responsible for the other two groups. Oscar was the boat driver, and every one of them made sure I was OK throughout the entire excursion. I dove one time while the other two groups had two dives. It didn't matter to me waiting for the other divers either, the scenery around Los Arcos was absolutely breath taking!!!! While under water, I was able to see several different fish species, two types of star fish, a tiger snake eel (which was so awesome looking), a scorpion fish, and several other native fish species. I am so glad I did this and the next time I am in Puerto Vallarta, I plan on signing up again to go scuba diving with Vallarta Adventures. If you're on the fence about scuba diving, just go for it, and choose Vallarta Adventures. Everyone I spoke to on the way to and from the excursion told me that Vallarta Adventures is the best around and the most professional. I found this to be incredibly accurate. I did get sea sick a bit on the boat but the team did their best to help calm my stomach a bit with techniques they've had to use before and it worked. Overall this was such a great experience and now I have the photo and video evidence to share with my friends and family. I highly recommend going scuba diving with them!!!
instructors were great, Gracias Fernanado! The poor visibility made it intimidating on entry for a first timer, but to be expected after an August down pour the night before. However my wife and I have been wanting to do this for many trips and booking ahead was the best way to get it done and realize how simple it really is to get started.
My sister and I went scuba diving in los caletas, our instructor was Filipe and it was an amazing experience. It can be intimidating with all the equipment but our instructor was great and was constantly making sure we were all comfortable and prepared for the experience, he really went above and beyond. I will definitely be going back and would recommend it to anyone!
We had gone on 3 tours with them and a of them were amazing, specially the scuba diving as we were beginners, but Filipe (our instructor) was really patient with us and I think we couldn’t have asked for a better instructor. Loved itttttttt Everyone should try this once in life.😊
On our recent trip to Nuevo Vallarta, my husband and I decided to try the beginner level scuba diving excursion with Vallarta Adventures. This was something new to me and a refresher for hubby. We met Filipe and Arnauld...our scuba instructors on the boat ride over to Las Caletas. Filipe was very thorough and detailed with the instructions on land and ensured we understood the material. Once we were suited up with the equipment with the help of the instructors, they had us try the skills on land prior to going in the water to get the hang of it. We ended up with Filipe as our instructor for the dive, he ensured we were comfortable, we demonstrated the skills 1:1 and off we went! I knew hubby was doing fantastic underwater and settling into the scenery well but I was a little nervous with diving for the first time but Filipe was very patient and took the time to ease me into this marvellous experience. We had such a phenomenal time underwater and the time flew by while we gazed at the natural habitats underwater. After this excursion, we are thinking of obtaining our open water certification!!! We highly recommend this experience to anyone looking for an underwater adventure, and be sure to ask for Filipe & Arnauld!!!!
We did the 2 day scuba course and went on 2 dives at Los Arcos. Our instructor Arnauld was AWESOME! He was very patient while I learned and helped my overcome my fears. Had me practice until I felt comfortable underwater and pointed out things I would never have seen if it weren't for him. Highly recommend this tour company overall. Everything they do is well run and fun!
Last week in Puerto Vallarta, we took the Vallarta Adventures trip to Yelapa & Majahuitas beaches. The trip was excellent! The crew of boat #8, guided by Chai and captained by Jaime, were extremely competent, entertaining and very attentive to the passengers. Both beaches were beautiful and the Yelapa waterfall was really flowing. Filipe, one of the crew, was taking three divers out for the second day of a beginners Scuba course. I got my basic scuba certification in college but had not gone diving for a number of years. It seemed like a great opportunity to take a refresher course, so I talked to Filipe about joining the group. He went over all the basics and found the equipment and tank for me to use. Filipe is a PADI OWSI dive instructor and gifted teacher. Before the dive, he told us exactly what to expect when we were in the water. During the dive, he kept constant tabs on our group. After the dive, he spent time with each of us discussing the dive and what we saw. We went down to 40', visibility was disappointing (20') but I felt completely secure the entire time in Filipe's care. If you are in Puerto Vallarta and interested in a beginners Scuba or refresher course, talk to Filipe at Vallarta Adventures!
My 14 year old son took the beginners scuba course in the resort pool for an hour and the following day dived for his first time at the Islas Marietas. He loved it! The pool instructor was professional and clear with his instructions. There were four divers with the master diver the next day. They followed a line down to the ocean floor and explored for approximately 30 minutes. My son was very comfortable and enjoyed his experience. He now wants to work towards his diving certificate.
I really love it. I am looking forward to get certified in scuba. I did more tours like private beach isla marietas and i really love it too. Rythm of the night was very funny and wntertaining. Great show.
This was such a great activity to be engaged in. Instructor and guide(s) were terrific and the experience is just beautiful. Try planing activities when it's nice out.
Our dive instructor was excellent, patient, calm, and professional. I was extremely impressed by his helpful behavior and kind demeanor throughout the dive. I was nervous and had trouble equalizing, and our instructor calmly went through the directions of each step of diving with me. My husband came as well and had no troubles. We were able to see two hawksbill turtles, an angel ray, morays, pufferfish, and many other fish varieties. It was an amazing and beautiful dive.
Beautiful experience diving in the Caletas, our instructor Fernando always watching us, was showing us the aquatic life of the place. We had good visibility and calm sea. Diving starts from a shallow dock so it's ideal for all experience levels. If they have never dived or are not certified right there you can take the class and rent the equipment and the instructor takes care of you at all times. Bring extra money for tips that truly deserve it and photos of this goddess experience. The food and service are very good, our waitress Brenda with a nice smile and very friendly. Our bartender on David beach very friendly and prepares some very good red skies! We also enjoyed the meeting with animals, by Paty super professional explained the conservation programs that have of macaws for example among other things. We also interacted with a family of super cute Lemurs with their coach Asminda and then spent the squirrel monkeys with their coach Miroslava who also made the experience very enjoyable. I am happy to see how all the little animals have them in optimal condition and have their times to walk freely in the wild. We also climbed into the wave pool in charge of José, super friendly gave us the instructions and equipment for the thiolese that lands in the sea. It is certainly an experience worth returning to! Thank you so much for your attention.
He was very father, and at 53 years old and see from a perspective the world diving as a beginner but the videos and photographs come out 80% of the others and the photographer screwed up, I think we go as a group; and yet I collect an eye of the face and only come out in a few photos but nimodo, no more talking... if I recommend the activity just clarify to the photographer that they go alone...
An unparalleled experience, we boarded very early the boat No.5 of Vallarta adventures to go diving in the Marietas where the certified diver Carlos in company with the excellent camerawoman Alyssa were responsible for the experience of going diving was more than excellent. Besides the staff of boat No.5 is the best, one of its members is Tai, who always makes you laugh.
Extraordinary experience having dived with my wife and 11-year-old son. The price was reasonable for including immersion, transportation, open bar and firm included. Fully recommended activity.
