Private tour by well educated developer that has opened I. 2020 an area where butterflies can develop; also has displays of many of the types of butterflies It is a small area tucked away through some rough roads in area behind the city.Arrange for your taxi to wait as area remote.
The quiet of the sanctuary, hearing nature and enjoying the outdoors is calming. The amount of butterflies you see and hear up close is awesome. The tour is around an hour or more, and at the end you are able to release a butterfly into the sanctuary. There is a cute little gift spot (pesos only) and wifi so you can have transportation back to your hotel. Be kind and leave a tip for your tour guide.
My family and I were fortunate to visit this serene place last week! Our guide was simply lovely, kind, and incredibly knowledgeable. We all learned so much with so much work that has been put into the garden itself. Highly recommend this trip!
Beautiful place, with very kind people , totally worth it, we went with our 8 month old baby and she enjoyed it
We absolutely loved our tour with Fabian. It was not peak season, so we were the only ones there. The whole tour felt individualized and we just had the best time making conversation with him like an old friend. We learned so much. I definitely recommend if you like animal crossing or gardening.
Excellent guide, diverse butterflies and nice experience to release young butterflies. The way there is not asphalted, carefully if rain.
Interesting and beautiful. 25 characters
This was a very educational, enriching, and fun tour. We got to learn plenty of cool new facts about the local butterfly species. Our tour guide, Adrian, was very informative and friendly. And we got to set free a few butterflies that had only been born a few minutes before. I highly recommend this adventure to family and friends here and abroad.
This was a fantastic experience. The guide was great - very informed, personable and patiently guided us through the sanctuary and answered all of our questions. Admission price could be a little lower but overall great value with the tour included and getting to release a new butterfly which was a special moment. Well done on the creation of this sanctuary.
The guide was great. He took us through a very informative and fun tour of the various butterfly species and their known history. He was very interactive and answered all questions. He took the time to guide us through the entire sanctuary and was great to talk to. My families favorite parts were definitely walking amongst all the butterflies in the sanctuary and releasing the new butterflies on their first flights of life. I’d definitely recommend the butterfly sanctuary to others.
The experience was way beyond expectations, our guide was remarkable. He was very informative and personable!
It was such a beautiful place that has so much potential for growth! Our tour guide was so informative and fun to learn from. Excellent time!
I did not realize there was so much to learn about butterflies! Our guide was amazing. He knew so much and he made the tour really interesting by not rushing my mom and I through the enclosure, and answering all our questions. This is a definite must see!!!!!
There was a very small group of us which was great. The tour guide is very good at his job. The experience of releasing a new butterfly was very special. It was educational. It was just a bit too hot inside that tent. It would have been good to be more prepared for the climate and have a cold wet cloth on my neck. I didn't know it would be hotter inside than outside.
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the 🦋 sanctuary. Danilo was our guide and he was very informative and professional! There isn’t very good signage in a remote area so we weren’t sure we were in the right spot. Luckily someone walked us down and around the pond to the sanctuary. The bathrooms had no toilet paper.
Very knowledgeable guide! Enjoyed the tour. Cost for the taxi was the same price as the tour (x2).
It was educational, engaging and enjoyable 👍. So happy I was able to schedule a visit this trip. Well worth it.
This was a worthwhile experience to learn more information about butterflies. The guide has very knowledgeable and took the time to asknis questions as well as give information. The chanve to release a butterfly in the enclosure was a unique feeling and honour.
Viator has nothing to do with my evaluation. It is just a platform. Adrien from the Sanctuary explained everything. It was very interesting and entertaining. The sanctuary is magical and you get to release a butterfly.. Just a great experience, Beautiful and magical. I highly recommend people to the this sanctuary. Wifi is even provided.
Very knowledgeable! My friend has been to a butterfly conservatory and a farm in other counties and knows a lot about butterflies but learned new things from this sanctuary tour and found it very educational.
Excellent tour. Very informative and fun. PLEARNING ( combo Play and Learn.
Our guide Danilo did an excellent job with the presentation explaining the history, life cycle, and identifying the various species of butterflys and plant life. 🦋 It is well worth the time and expense.
Our visit to the butterfly sanctuary was very informative. Our guide was knowledgeable and friendly and made us feel welcome. We enjoyed getting to know more about the difference between a sanctuary and an exhibit and also learning about the butterfly species native to Puerto Vallarta. The release of a butterfly at the end of the visit was particularly rewarding.
Daniel our guide was knowledgeable and friendly. The sanctuary is down a long dirt road, so just go for it! We learned a lot before going into the sanctuary and walking with the butterflies. The garden is lovely and the butterflies are everywhere. We learned how to find sleeping butterflies and their eggs. There is a special moment at the end, its a moving surprise opportuntiy.
Very informative tour. I learned a lot and saw many butterflies!
I had a private tour with Adrian and it was amazing! He is very knowledgable and I really enjoyed the environment and the experience. So many butterflies to see and I like what they are doing as far as protecting them and not just having them on display.
The group was small, the guide was very knowledgeable and amazing at answering all our questions. Absolutely beautiful. It was an amazing experience. We were there for over an hour and were able to look around for a bit on our own to take pictures. The price was worth it.
A very nice experience. The location is a bit out of the town but the staff is very friendly and very knowledgeable.
This is an informative program about local butterflies at a very nice little facility not too far from the city. There are souvenirs to support their work available for purchase and a good wifi signal to call an Uber to return to town. We enjoyed it.
I had a 1on1 tour and it was a wonderful experience and the butterflies were so beautiful. My tour guide and butterfly expert, Adrian was great! The best part of tour was when I got release to baby butterflies inside the sanctuary.
Beautiful experience, our guide was so knowledgeable but made it so fun. Go in the morning when it's cooler
Very educational and saw many butterflies while learning about them. Highly recommended. Suggest to make transport arrangements for the return
Adrian was very knowledgeable, friendly, and professional. His passion for what he does shines through.
This place was a nice change of pace from the other attractions in PV. It was relaxing and very informative. Our guide was knowledgeable and friendly. We even got to release a newly hatched butterfly. Would highly recommend!
It was a smaller area than I thought, not may butterflies to see ,think i have seen more flying around on my daily walks!. If a butterfly lays 400 eggs then there should be hundreds of containers with butterfly larvai only saw like 12!. If the talapia in the pond are so aggressive are you not worried they eat butterflies when they try for a drink water in that pond.No water or snack to buy,so bring your own .You really dont need the tour ,it was quite an effort to get there long dusty walk to main door. It was nice but I would not go again or really recommend. Sorry, you need more butterflies!!.That viator site is ridiculously overpriced!
We had a very enjoyable time. Our guide, Fabian, was extremely knowledgeable and very pleasant. We love butterflies and we are aware of how much passion and dedication is needed to care for these fascinating creatures. Congratulations on your accomplishments at Jardín Mágico! We will love to come back in the future.
We arrived at noon and asked what time is a good time for us to do a tour in English. They said come back at 2pm. We did but for some reason they took another family in and said can you come back in minutes, well okay we said but hmm. Then when we returned instead of an english tour that was supposedly private for us two, we were asked to join a large spanish group. The initial 10 minutes was actually the host helping that group choose their lunches from the menu and then when it started it was a bit of english and lots of spanish. We decided it was not what they’d offered and did not stay as we could not understand. So we asked for a refund which they gave and left. The hostess was sheepish and knew we had been mis treated. Three hours we wasted waiting for a tour that we didn’t get. hmm I don’t think I’d go even for free now! They really should explain they don’t offer English tours when I asked at noon. Then I could decide right then.
Everything was just perfect. Tour guide was great! He was very knowledgeable and helpful at the end of the tour to arrange transportation.
Our tour guide was awesome. Very very interesting to learn about all the different kinds of butterflies and the guide really knew his stuff. Be aware there isn’t great cell reception out there for data/booking Ubers. But they will provide you with the wifi if needed which is awesome.
Wonderful morning, our guide Andre was very knowledgeable and interesting in providing great information about the butterflies. It was a fun and beautiful morning
Very knowledgeable guide. Transport was right on time. Fun morning
Very experienced tour guide, learned so much
Was awesome experience very informative and had a great time lots of butterflies got to release some
Very informative Adrien was very good with us and answered our 8 yr old twin girls
My fiancé and I had the best experience at this butterfly sanctuary! Our your guide was so knowledgeable and we learned so much at our time there! Would definitely recommend checking it out! We even got to release a newly hatched butterfly! :)
Very knowledgeable guide. He knew everything about butterflies! I would highly recommend this tour. Bring cash for souveneirs.
The butterflies are magical, and it feels like you enter a mini oasis in the countryside of PV. The staff have taken great pains to provide real support and conversation for these vulnerable animals. It was amazing how much they knew and how much thought they had put into each stage of each life of their many pieces of butterflies. Logistics: it is about a 40 minute drive into the back country from the Zona Romantica. There is a bathroom onsite, as well as water bottles, and benches to sit before starting the tour and entering the sanctuary. If you book a tour with transportation (which is what we did) you are essentially taken care of every step of the way.
We had a wonderful time at the Butterfly Sanctuary. We learned a lot and the kids loved releasing the butterflies. We would return and will recommend it to others
We recently visited the butterfly sanctuary in Puerto Vallarta. Only 3 miles from our condo but a world away. Down a long rutted dirt road into the jungle with an almost empty cemetery at the entrance and rows of flowers for the escapees in which we rejoiced. It was different from other butterfly sanctuaries we have visited where were thousands of butterflies. Instead this one has 36 species and only hundreds of each. Their philosophy seems to follow that each species needs a specific plant and a specific number of leaves to eat so the number of butterflies is limited by the number of plants. But I learned more about butterflies than I have at any other sanctum. For instance. Male butterflies have a small dot on the bottom of the exterior of each wing that emits pheromones to attract the females. That many butterflies are territorial and will fight for their mating space. We saw them flirt and learned to recognize the differences of flight between flirting, fighting, and playing, because they also play. We also heard the sound that some made when fighting and learned that only 19 species make a sound and that each is native to the tropics in our hemisphere. The sanctuary is guarded by three dogs which mostly find a sunny spot and nap. As we left we were able to each release a new butterfly into the sanctuary. Like our grandchildren they were camera shy and flitted off before we could get a picture. Our guide was knowledgable, spoke excellent english, and made our trip a delight. I cannot recommend this experience enough. I am glad we made time to visit and will do so again on future trips to Puerto Vallarta.
