Itinerary
Welcome to our adventure to the Waterfalls, Jungle, and Mountain. We will meet in the old center of Puerto Vallarta and take the urban transport direction south of the city, just as the locals do! After a 15 min drive, we will get off the bus and start walking in the tropical forest. You will get to know lots of different plants, animals and learn about the river. We will follow a rough path that changes depending on the amount of rain that has fallen and that crosses the river multiple times. After one hour of hiking and some impressive views up in the mountains, we reach the first waterfall. Here we can take pictures, rest a bit and have water and fruit. Between the rocks, we have a refreshing swim with the fish in the small lake. For the ones that are still not satisfied, we take another path up until the next set of waterfalls. We end at a lookout high above the jungle with a spectacular view over the bay! *April - june: due to dry season we visit the Quimixto waterfall as an alternative. This includes boat transport paid by us **Minimum age: 10 years/maximum age: 60 years ***Cruise ship passengers take in account a possible difference in LOCAL time and BOAT time

This Guide Alex needs to be praised. He has attention to detail. I was VERY impressed how environmentally conscious he was in picking up garbage that had nothing to do with the tour he excellently provided, that other not so conscientious people had left behind. He should be proud. He was diligent & intuitive, watching the group he was guiding. He provided assistance immediately to those that had physical challenges. Two thumbs well up & a what a nice guy/guide! I HIGHLY recommend this tour! WONDERFUL! Tip: Bring plenty chilled potable drinking water & be prepared to wade through streams. I hike a LOT & have LOADS of chilled water with me. I could see others using theirs. I was quite prepared to share if they needed it. I had an extra liter if it was necessary.
We had an awesome time. The waterfall is very refreshing. The hike there and back is the perfect amount of time. Diego was an awesome guide! He showed us plenty of interesting things and helped us traverse the terrain. Bring mosquito spray!
The hike was great winding up the canyon, crossing the river several times kept it refreshing. Our guide Alex was amazing. We could not have asked for a better guide. He knew so much about the area, showed us various plants and trees, the gum tree was cool, the devil tree was..well named. Alex was relaxed but very professional and made sure we had a good time. Swimming at the waterfall is a must. It was beautiful and refreshing. It made for a really fun afternoon. Wear good shoes, don’t be afraid to get wet and enjoy the scenery.
Roco was an amazing informative guide and took so much acre to make our tour experience great, He was patient and made sure we did not miss any information in our tour. WE would recommend this tour and Roco for anyone who wants to have a hiking and water experienne.
Alex was an amazing tour guide! He was friendly, knowledgeable, and made the entire experience so much fun. He made sure everyone felt comfortable and took the time to answer our questions and share interesting information along the way. You can tell he genuinely enjoys what he does. We had such a great time and would definitely recommend Alex to anyone looking for a fun and memorable tour! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Came here with my partner we are both in our 20s and the hike is not very difficult but beautiful! Juan is the absolute best! He definitely made our trip very enjoyable. Best hike in PV!
We had an incredible experience on the jungle hike to the waterfall and lookout! Our guide was friendly, knowledgeable, and made sure everyone felt safe while keeping the hike fun and engaging. The trail itself was beautiful, with lush jungle scenery, and the waterfall was absolutely worth the trek. The lookout offered breathtaking views that made the whole experience unforgettable. We never felt rushed, had plenty of opportunities for photos, and learned a lot about the local plants and wildlife along the way. If you’re visiting Puerto Vallarta and want an authentic outdoor adventure, this hike is a must-do. Highly recommend—we’d do it again in a heartbeat!
Relatively easy a short hike along the river leading to a waterfall and swimming hole. David was a great guide, sharing lots of history and facts about the area.
Juan was very accommodating and helped us by staying at a good pace especially for kids. Very helpful. Thank you!
Diego was amazing. He was an amazing guide and ensured we had a great time. We saw two amazing waterfalls and were able to cool down at River pools. Totally worth it, one of the best activities in Puerto Vallarta
Alex was the best tour guide we could’ve asked for. The tour was amazing and beautiful. Definitely recommend !!!
Juan was an excellent guide!! This hike was the highlight of our trip the waterfalls were so refreshing after exploring the jungle
It was wonderful, bit work out but make sure bring mosquito repellent and Juan did absolutely wonderful tour with group, get know each person background, wonderful hear other peoples travel for adventure of lifetime
We had Juan give us a tour and he was great! Super informative and helpful, also really nice and funny guy, great to talk to and made the whole time very fun. 10/10!
Our tour guide Juan was great, he did a great job getting us where we needed to go while giving info.
Juan was great! Shared some interesting facts about local trees.
Johnny.Jungle/Juan was an AMAZING tour guide. He made everyone feel like family and was so kind. He was knowledgeable about the town and very adventurous.
Victor was our amazing guide! The waterfall we went to included a bus ride, a bonus water taxi ride out to a remote beach village where we started our hike. Victor was so knowledgeable abt sharing the various tree species, fruit, nuts, wildlife and surrounding areas. We swam at a beautiful beach before heading back. I would definitely recommend this adventure! It was the highlight of our trip and Victor was a perfect guide.
Great hike not easy not challenging but the waterfall and restaraunt at the end are beautiful. Our guide juan was top notch, funny, and was a lot of fun. 10/10 would reccomend.
This was a really cool experience, took a lovely boat ride to a small village that has a population of 200 people, seen looks of cool animals everywhere and ending it by swimming in a beautiful waterfall area. Juan was an excellent tour guide, very personalable, knowledgeable and attentive. The small group size was perfect also, it was not crowded at all.
Brilliant experience with Juan. The tour was excellent. Very enthusiastic and accomodated us well. 100% recommend!!
Our 4 hour jungle hike and waterfall swim was absolutely amazing thanks to Juan Carlos. He was friendly knowledgeable and made the entire adventure so much fun from start to finish. The hike through the jungle was beautiful and the waterfall swim was unforgettable. Juan Carlos made us feel safe comfortable and excited the whole time while sharing so much about the area and nature around us. You can truly tell he loves what he does. Highly recommend this experience to anyone looking for an unforgettable adventure.
Juan was great ! Very knowledgeable, enthusiastic and a lot of fun. RECOMMEND.
The Quimixto waterfall was beautiful, but the tour itself was a major disappointment. Our guide failed to provide any information about the town or the hike, acting more like a casual walker than a professional leader. The lack of logistics was the biggest issue. After the guide allowed the group to stay well past the scheduled departure, we were forced to hike back alone to avoid a massive delay. We ended up paying out-of-pocket for a water taxi and land taxi back to Zona Romántica just to return at a reasonable hour. A guide should provide value, safety, and time management. We received none of these, making the tour a waste of money despite the lovely scenery.
Unfortunately we didn’t get to do the actual tour due to my husband having a heat stroke however the guide was AMAZING in helping us get him to a doctor and taking care of him. He was amazing and the sweetest. I cannot thank him enough for the help he provided
Diego was a wonderful guide on our 4 hour hike to a beautiful and refreshing waterfall in Quimixto. He happily accommodated our personal request to meet at a secondary location and communicated with us regularly to make our encounter easy. Diego was friendly and shared his great knowledge about the local area, including flora, fauna and customs. We enjoyed the ride in the water taxi, the short hike and the refreshing dip at the pretty waterfall. Noticeable was Diego’s respect for the environment. It was also enjoyable to see his connection with the local people and community.
Such a nice and relaxing experience—definitely worth it! He walks you through the culture, explains everything so well, and you can tell he has so much knowledge. The walk alone made it all worth it.
Juan Carlos was a great guide. We had a great time! Thanks.
Great guide!! He was amazing!!! Found out we aren’t much of hikers but it was a good way to get out and get some exercise!! Waterfall was awesome!!
Awesome experience with Diego!
It was a bit muggy but had an amazing experience! Diego was great and taught us about local wildlife and plants while ensuring our safety along the way. Even though it was hot it made the plunge into the water that much more rewarding!
A bit rocky, wear a bathing suit if to swim, water at waterfalls was 67 degrees F. Diego was highly informative and answered questions.. also set expectations about difficulties. Great guide.
Fantastic experience. Diego was on time, very friendly, and made our hike memorable. An overall great experience. Highly recommend.
This hike was a nice little jaunt just out of town. The hiking was definitely rocky and required some climbing, but if you're steady on your feet and have some leg strength you should be fine. It's not remote in the least but follows a cool river and the swim at the end is worth the price of admission. Wear a suit and water shoes or sandals. Juan was a lovely guy who took care of the members of our group.
Rocco was a great guide! This tour was one of the best parts of our trip and we would do it again in a heartbeat. Rocco was very knowledgeable about flora and fauna. He kept the pace of the hike moving but slowed when needed.
The guide was excellent, the waterfall was nice to visit, but- hikers need to be aware that much of the route includes climbing over rocks, not flat ones but many which are not easy to navigate. My wife and I were beyond our comfort zone with the degree of difficulty here. This hike is not for beginners or even many mid-level folks.
Juan was a great guide. He is full of personality, informed us about several species of trees along the way, and made sure to keep us safe by warning us about slippery boulders and keeping our balance. The hike is a good workout, of moderate intensity. Make sure you have shoes with good souls, but also ones that you can use to cross the water in at least three different places. I enjoyed meeting the other people on our tour. Juan provided commentary in both Spanish and English. The lagoon at the Bates of the waterfall was chilly but definitely go for a swim. It’s fairly deep and a good size. It was nice swimming around in there. The only downside is that the hike has two large developments on either side, one of which is currently undergoing construction. So that takes away a little bit from feeling like you are in the jungle when portions of the hike are along fences. Also, there are multiple water pipes carrying water down the creek that are above ground, which distracts from the natural beauty.
Fantastic hike and waterfall! The swim was cool and refreshing. Our tour guide Juan Carlos was fantastic and very knowledgeable. I would highly recommend this hike and Juan Carlos to others.
Diego was our guide for our group of 4, there were 11 of us on this tour and Diego was WONDERFUL! Eyes wide open for the trail ahead, go slow, watch your footing, don't touch the trees with the fire ants, take a good look at the terminte nests, the immence vegetation in the jungle forest .. he knew it all. Great care in all of us crossing the river 3 times up and 3 times back. Most impressive is Diego's love for this place and his tireless efforts for the sustainability of the paradise! I'd recommend good footwear, (rocks and boulders abound) a light backpack including swim suit/drinking water/towel (but drip dry works too) perhaps extra snack but the delicious pears Diego brought were enough for us! This was a highlight of our visit to PV absolutely would recommend it. Ceci
We had a great time doing this hike with our guide Alex. On the way up he showed us how some trees were used for medicinal purposes and which one to avoid touching. The hike was beautiful, just challenging enough to make it fun but not too much, which was great since I did it with a broken arm in a sling. We didn’t go to the second waterfall but instead climb up 400 steps to a viewing platform. We had about 45 mn to chill and swim at the foot of the first waterfall, the water temperature was perfect and there was some descent size fishes swimming in it. If you want a break from the city and the beaches, this is a great hike to do, and it is close to town!
We’re not the type that normally needs a guide on a hike, but Juan Carlos was the BEST and I highly recommend requesting his service. The hike was not difficult, but you do need to be able to wade across the river (shallow) and mountain goat a bit on some rocks. Steady footing and balance needed, also would have been great to know a pair of tevas or water shoes with a firmer sole is ideal for this trek.
When we arrive at the meeting spot. We thought we had been scammed. But eventually we met the guide . We boarded a bus ,which took us up into the mountains. We took a very public trail to a waterfall. All in all it was nice
The hike is not overly strenous it is up a river and you have to cross it several times so be prepared to have wet feet. Water sandles are probably best. The falls are great and very refreshing. The hike is not long and is good exercise without being exausting. Our guide Juan aka "Jonny Jungle" was fantastic his knowledge of the area was boundless as was his energy. His confident guidence and patience with the group of varying skill lavels made the hike safe and fun. I Would go again and I would recomend it to a friend. My name is Paul and this is an honest review.
It was not too easy but lots of fun. Alex was awesome and knowledgable, explain the flora and fauna of the place. I got mosquitos bites but it was ok. I was able to swim in the waterfall. It was refreshing. I will do it again if I have a chance to do it.
It was amazing experience with Juan! The hike itself was not a lot of distance but the path was full of natural rock formations which made it a more natural experience. The waterfall swim was amazing as well. The natural spring water was very clear and refreshing. There was viewpoint hike up the hill coming back which was very tiring but definitely worth it! Juan explained everything about the plants and fauna on our hike which made the experience more enjoyable. I'd definitely recommend it.
Amazing experience with David, he was very friendly and knowledgeable. The walk was serene and the waterfall swim was magical
The hike was more difficult than we thought ; we are healthy 28yo and it was challenging. The waterfall was pretty crowded and cold but that was just the time of year (Christmas)
Isaac and Francisco were excellent guides. They brought us through a gorgeous path along the river to a waterfall. And then to a beautiful view of PV from above. They took pics and videos for our family, gave us fruit as a snack. Since there were 2 guides, we could split the group - some wanted to wade through the shallow river while others wanted to stay up on rocks bc we didn’t have water shoes. They were willing to be flexible based on the needs of our group. This was one of the highlights of our trip. I highly recommend you go! Mt advice is to wear water shoes that have grip for hiking on slippery rocks and use bug spray!
Very and pretty technical hike to the waterfall. The waterfall at the end was worth it but I did not love the hike itself. There are many water crossings so wear sport sandals or water shoes if you don’t want your hiking shoes to get soaked. I ended up walking through all the water crossings but did not love that. I also don’t like scrambling- bouldering on rocks so it was not great for me
