Our group had a very friendly and experienced guide Fernando, who showed us scary animals, a beautiful lake and who was always very patient and answered all our questions. It was a really nice atmosphere, I recommend the trip with him! The facilities and the overall location were good, same as the food. The lodges are clean and very cozy.

You won’t be disappointed with this tour and eco lodge. Staff were all very friendly and welcoming, food was great, our room was good too! Excursions were well organized, our guide told us what to expect and how to dress for it, not to mention having rubber boots for us where mud was expected. Even while there were a lot of excursions there was some downtime planned as well so it was great to hang by the pool or the dining hall with the bar and pool table. Loved our guide Fernando too! Highly recommend 4 days if your schedule allows it I think 3 would have been cut too short in this great place!
I chose this 4D/3N package expecting a fully included itinerary with key activities like the Parrot Clay Lick, as confirmed in pre-booking communications. Unfortunately, upon arrival at Monte Amazonico Lodge, I was hit with undisclosed surprise charges: USD 105 extra per person via credit card for the Parrot Clay Lick activity (not mentioned beforehand, despite being listed), plus USD 40 cash (USD 20/person) for a "reserve entry fee" that contradicted the provided schedule.
Once in a lifetime experience to see the rainforest at its best. Our guide, Ronal, was a superstar. He made sure that we saw and experienced everything in the jungle. Exotic animals, tropical fruits and nature all wrapped in one. The lodge was what you’d expect. It does get real hot, cold showers are a must and they have a pool to cool off. They provide a fan in the room and a mosquito net above your bed. Their food is good. Most guides speak Spanish and English. Boat rides were fun and the activities were plenty. Good time had by our family!
The jungle is beautiful and the activities are nice too, but the organization of the days needs a complete review. There were many idle times — sometimes even more than two hours between one activity and the next (without any real need for rest, since before that we had only done a short half-hour walk in the forest) — and no alternative options were offered. The activities were also poorly distributed across the days. For example, the third day was very empty, and the third night was completely useless since we left early in the morning. Additionally, I had added through the agency a visit to “Collpa la Cachuela” (to see the macaws) for $50 — absolutely an excessive price for what it offered. Unfortunately, this poor organization spoils places and activities that would otherwise be wonderful.
Amazing experience. Lodge was lovely, excursions were great. Our guide Gonzalo was fantastic and so knowledgeable about the rainforest. Transfers etc all really well organised.
My girlfriend and I spent 4 nights here and it was an amazing experience. I've been to the jungle before but first time for my girlfriend and it's a very good introduction to a jungle experience. Super clean and comfortable lodges. Activities are all very well planned and guides are very knowledgeable. The food, which is included, is amazing. There's even a pool which is great for down time. All the staff who work there are very friendly and willing to help make your experience as good as possible. We really enjoyed all the walks and boats/kayaking and fishing. We were lucky and got to see lots of wildlife. Would definitely recommend. Big shout out to Rodrigo and John, thank you.
It were absolutely 4 amazing days. We went there with the night bus and took the flight back to Cusco. The last day ist just breakfast and leaving to Puerto Maldonado. Beautiful lodges beautiful people it was the best experience in my 10 week stay in Peru. Just enjoy the beautiful Nature of the reservoir. If you book it in Puerto Maldonado it is cheaper. We were send there by a friend because she recommended it to us and it was absolutely wonderful.
Could not recommend this trip more. Planned to perfection with great activities but also enough spare time to chill / cool down in the pool. There is no AC or hot water - but we were pleased for the cold shower! We are both gluten free and the kitchen were great with accommodating this. Our guide Ronal was fantastic, so knowledgeable and passionate with a good sense of humour. He really made our experience. Make sure you take lots of repellent - we covered ourselves and have hardly come away with any bites. Lovely pina colada at the bar! And the pool is a really good size - just make sure you take your repellent there with you! The 4 day 3 night tour was perfect - a good range of activities / earlier and later mornings. FYI the boat on the last day leaves at 9 AM so you will be back in Peurto Maldonado by 10 if you have a flight later in the day :) 100% would recommend this trip! Thank you!
Outstanding tour. Our guide, Ronal (might have misspelled his name) was fantastic. I've read some other reviews and I'm not sure what the other users were expecting; with this tour you are in the jungle with no air conditioning and no hot water to shower with. I actually loved having it this way, making it a very authentic experience. The entire staff was extremely friendly and accommodating to my elderly mother, always checking up on her and asking me how she was doing. All meals were fresh and home-made. If you are looking for a rainforest tour in Puerto Maldonado, look no further than this tour, highly recommended. I cannot recommend this tour enough.
Lots of interesting animals. Food was great and guides were too. Accommodation was very basic and had seen better days. More activities are needed for colder days as there is nothing to do when not on a tour. We left a day early as it was so cold! In warmer weather it would be different but be aware that it’s cold showers and no fan/aircon. The windows are mesh and huts made from plywood so super basic but clean.
Amazing location- private resort with multiple excursions a day. Gonzalo our guide was great and very professional. Would highly recommend.
Great food and accommodations! Fernando was our Guide. He was very knowledgeable and did an excellent job of spotting animals and explaining the science and indigenous history. We saw capuchin and squirrel monkeys, (heard howlers) , black and white caiman, Macaws, capybaras, heron, piranhas, tarantulas, giant grasshoppers, frogs, turtles, tons of birds, a tree boa constrictor, I caught a catfish in the river—- this was worth every penny - great staff!
We had a wonderful experience at Eco Lodge ! Our tour guide Fernando was great! knowledgeable,patient,helpful... Lots of activities ,very well organized during the day and night . Food is freshly prepared, organic, tasty, abundant.. Excellent value for the money. Heat and humidity could be an issue for the sensitive ones...however , swimming pool is open 24 h available to cool off... Bug spray and sunscreen is a must!
A unique experience indeed. We saw a tone of amazing wildlife and it was so incredibe to be up close to this nature. The meals provided were good quality. Our tour guide Tito was fantastic also. He was 73 and born in the area. He knew so much and able to answer all of our questions. So the downsides... Be warned that the heat is inescapable. There are no fans or coolers. The only way to cool down was the pool which was warm being in the heat and then the pool turned my blonde hair green!!! We had a lot of downtime and wished we had actually booked the two night option instead. The fishing was at the wrong time of day to actually catch anything. the ziplines are fun, but don't take up much time. I would recommend this tour to anyone who is really enthusiastic about nature and Wildlife. Just make sure you come prepared for the heat and bring a book for all of the downtime you will have.
It was an awesome experience. The lodge is clean and the staff is friendly. Fernando, who was our guide, was very knowledgeable about the local flora and fauna. We got to see alligators, otters, and a lot of other cool animals, bugs, and plants up close.
Loved the 4 day tour we did here. We saw lots of cool animals, both at night and during the day. We were well feed and felt very taken care of!
We booked a 3 nights / 4 days tour and we’re absolutely fascinated with the trip. Especially our guide Louis was awesome. He was very experienced in the jungle and showed us many species. Also we felt always safe with him knowing he has a huge back of experience. Thank you one more time for the great adventure! We can absolutely recommend the trip to anyone.
We had a great experience with lots of activities and time for relaxing. Ronald, our guide, had an almost supernatural ability to spot wildlife, day and night and had great knowledge of everything. The heat was oppressive at times, so think about going earlier in the season (Sept and Oct are likely the hottest months), or plan to spend a lot of time near the river where it is breezy (There's a weak cell signal near the river as well when Wifi doesn't work).
This was a great experience, the lodges were with everything you need in a good price to quality ratio. The garden was beautiful and had a nice swimming pool to chill after activities. Vegetarian food options were creative and healthy. Our guide Fernando gave us a lot of intormation about the jungle and its plants and animals. Fernando was very interested to create a good experience for our group. We saw many animals and were amazed by the nature. The only downside would be the weak wifi, but maybe the jungle is a good place to disconnect:) Very much recommend. Emilija and Jonas
We did this tour in August 2023 (the dry season) and saw an incredible array of animals: caymans, otters, a capybara, tarantulas, parrots of all kinds, monkeys…the list goes on! The activities planned for this trip were great: starting with a day walk learning about the jungle and how to survive if we ever got lost, fishing & kayaking on the river, a nighttime cayman boat ride, visiting a monkey island, a night walk to see tarantulas, a canopy walk with zip line and a beautiful canoe ride around Lake Sandoval. Whilst the tour itself was brilliant, it is important to flag how intense the heat, humidity and mosquitoes were. We found it incredibly challenging given there was no relief and at times, it was too much. Having said that, Amazonica Lodge was brilliant with a lovely swimming pool, good food and small smoke pits throughout the resort to support in keeping the bugs at bay. It is worth noting that the huts have no fans due to the limited electrical supply to the resort. Our guide, Ronald, was friendly, knowledgable and great fun. Having lived in the jungle until he was 16, he also had a number of incredible stories to share. Thank you Ronald! This was definitely an experience, with many highs and challenges, that we won’t forget. One thing that will stay in our memories for a long time is how Ronald effortlessly caught a cayman with his bare hands and then brought it onto the boat to show us up close. Ronald’s respect for nature was incredible to see and we came away with some of that same appreciation.
Wonderful wildlife and pristine jungle adventure with aras, monkeys, caimans, and big tarantulas. Beds were comfy and the kitchen created some special vegan menu, super tasty! Great garden and pool with some canopy and zip line in the back. Highly recommend Marcos as a guide!
Had the best time with our guide Marcos! We enjoyed our stay to the fullest, saw lots of animals and would definitely do it again!
We had a fantastic time on the 4D/3N jungle Adventure 03 tour. Seriously well worth the price. Our guide Fernando was very knowledgeable about all the plants, animals, indigenous people and general questions we had about Peru. My partner and I agree that out of all the people we have met in Peru, he’ll be the one that we remember most often, a really nice man. We saw loads of monkeys and birds as well as many other animals each day, like black, white and dwarf caimans, as well as capybara and other animals too! Fernando was incredible at spotting animals and was quick to pick up tarantulas on our hikes! The lodge was also nicer than we expected and the rest of the staff were very friendly and it was such a great environnement. The resort had fruit trees like starfruit and others we hadn’t ever seen before and Fernando took us around in our spare time to pick fruit and try them! The food was also really great and different each day. I’m Pescatarian and they had great replacements for me! They would add an omelette, avocado, fried fish, extra potato and beans or other foods that were delicious. The pool was cleaned often and a great relief on the very hot/humid days. Our room was also cleaned very well by housekeeping. They did a great job. There were lots of bugs on most of our tours so definitely bring bug spray/ a bug jacket and long pants/shirts made of light material. It is hot and buggy. But the area around the lodge was much better for bugs because there were many bug repellent smokings around, I was even comfortable walking around in shorts when I needed to get to the main dining lodge or wear a bikini in the pool. Overall, I highly recommend this place. This will be one of our Peru highlights.
I went on a 4d/3n trip including one night at Hacienda Tambopata and two nights at Monte Amazónico Lodge. I saw an amazing amount of wildlife the first place and also had a gray trip to Sandoval lake, lots of birds, turtles, piranhas and black caymans. Both places were simple but were nice places in beautiful settings and had all the necessary facilities. Only the food could have been better. Be aware they Monte Amazónica Lodge/Carlos Expeditions (same owner) offers many different trip and check exactly what is included in your trip
Monte Amazonico is a fantastic resort located right on the edge of the Madre de Dios river. There are lots of activities to get involved with during the tours, and a pool and cafeteria with snooker and foosball to use during any down time. The food provided was really good, and the guides, particularly Paul, are brilliant. We were also the first to arrive for excursions, meaning places weren’t packed with other tourists. Some of the highlights of the tour, for us, was the visit to Monkey Island, kayaking, and ziplining. However, in our experience, although we took the 4 night/5 day tour as we wanted to do kayaking and ziplining, most people on the 3 night/4 day tour also did these activities. For that reason, if you’re looking to lots of things during your visit to Peru, it might be worth doing the shorter tour but getting a late flight out if possible, so that you have time for all activities but don’t need to stay the extra night! Having said that, even just hanging around the resort and watching the sun set is a great way to spend an evening!
Every day just kept getting better and better. The prices at the lodge were surprisingly decent. Good communication, lovely visits around the jungle and up and down the stream. The one downside I suppose would be the fact there was no hot water. Good local food with varied menus daily.
The tour itself was amazing. We highly recommend it! However, try to book via the Monte Amazonico Lodge itself instead of via Viator. If you book directly the Tambopata ticket is included. If you book via Viator you will have to pay 15 dollars per person upon arrival.
Not a spectacular offer. Otherwise, the jungle is fascinating and definitely worth a trip.
That was my absolute highlight of the Peru trip. The lodge was very nice and the staff incredibly nice.
If you want to get to know the jungle of professionals and with the best of facilities and food, this is your place. I travelled alone for 3 nights and 4 days and was delighted. From the professionalism of the monitors, especially David and Fernando, the facilities, comfortable rooms and a first class meal. All delicious! The excursions are all worth it! I recommend it
Our jungle tour was an absolute highlight of our trip! The organization was good, the activities exciting, and the nature just breathtaking. Our guide Fernando in particular made the experience perfect – he was incredibly dedicated, knew an answer to every question and infected us with his enthusiasm for the rainforest. The accommodations were simple but perfectly adequate for the jungle experience. The food was delicious, but could have been a bit more varied. A small criticism: The zip-line was fun, but it didn’t meet European safety standards – modernization would be desirable here. Overall, however, a great tour that we can recommend to anyone who wants to experience the Amazon up close. Many thanks to Fernando and the whole team!
Very good experience submerged in the deep jungle we had a great time and the boys are highly recommended, that they do carry repellent because there are all types of insects
The guide was great and explained a lot, spoke good English and also Spanish. The activities were all exciting and the accommodation was also very pleasant.
We had a very nice experience. The food was great and often three courses. Our guide Ronal was very friendly and explained a lot to us about the jungle and life in Peru. We can definitely recommend the lodge. Be sure to bring good mosquito spray. The tours in the jungle were also very interesting and doable for everyone.
We were very satisfied despite some missing sightings of animals (due to rainy weather). Day 1: Pick up was super organized, trip to Monkey Island was a great experience even without monkeys. As a small consolation, our guide took us on a 1h tour through the rainforest. Cayman night tour was a great highlight that night! 2. Tag: Excursion to Lake Sandoval very well organized, unfortunately the weather made a dent in our minds and a sighting of many wildlife unfortunately did not happen - but hey, that's nature. The guided night tour (vA with guide Fernando) was very interesting and also a great experience. 3. Tag: All planned activities are close to the lodge and have been a lot of fun! We particularly liked the flexibility to stay even longer on the pick-up day and our very friendly, competent guide Fernando. The varied, delicious food (including changing exotic fruit juice) can also be highly praised, especially because many fruits are processed from the own property! Vegetarian option could also be booked. The accommodation was comfortable, very large and perfectly adapted to possible animal intruders. The only downer: The shower water was cold in the morning. Conclusion: Very supportive lodge (incl. min. a very motivated guide! :-) ) with good program!
