Amazing tour. Highly recommend. Up close and personal with the penguins. It is a far drive, but worth it!

Itinerary
Begin your experience of exploring Patagonia as soon as your cruise ship docks in Puerto Madryn. Meet us and board a comfortable-modern vehicle. Enjoy a brief tour of the city to learn about its history while heading to the Penguin Colony.
Our first stop is the replica of the Patagotitan Mayorum, the largest dinosaur in the world discovered to date. We will learn all about the past, when dinosaurs reigned over this region. We will take advantage of this stop to snap some photographs before hitting the road again, heading south.
Start the adventure accompanied by a tour guide who will help us interpret the environment. Keep an aye out, specially when driven along a barren gravel road, the reserve enclose unique species as Guanacos (Lamas), Patagonia Rabbit, Lesser Rhea, Grey Wolf, among others.
Punta Tombo is one of the most scenic reserves in the province of Chubut, blending the deep blue sea with the red volcanic rocks of the Jurassic period. There, we will immerse ourselves in the world of Magellanic Penguins along a 3-kilometer trail (round trip) to observe them and walk among them. If nature allows and we remain attentive to the landscape, we may spot wonderful Patagonian species such as Guanacos, Lesser Rheas (Choiques), Maras, and Elegant Crested Tinamous (Martinetas), among others. After completing the trail, you will have free time to enjoy lunch at 'DeliStore' or have a picnic if you have brought your own lunch or snacks. As we travel along the gravel roads, the safari continues overland, you might be admired by guanacos crossing the Patagonian landscape. After a day full of nature in its purest form, return to Puerto Madryn and get dropped off outside the pier on time.

It was an excellent tour, thousands of penguins and plenty of time to spend interacting with them. Valerie, our guide was excellent..
Punta Tombo Reserve is a very fabulous place. Our guide Mariano was excellent and highly recommend him. After visiting Volunteer Point in the Falklands, we had low expectations for this tour, however the sheer beauty of the reserve, the ability to watch the penguins up close was amazing. Also we were able to see them play and fish in the water. Other local animals and birds were also plentiful in the reserve. We were on a cruise ship, we were able to beat the numerous shore excursion buses and vans and had a very relaxed uncrowded experience
We did this from a cruise ship and the communication was great with the tour operator (Dos Oceanos). Tour guide was easy to find at the end of the dock. The guide was very conscious about making sure we were back in time for the ship departure. The 2.5 hour drive (each way) was worth it. There were lots of penguins to see - they are everywhere. We also saw baby guanacos.
This was a wonderful trip to see the penguins. It was much better to take this tour than the one offered by the cruise line. Much quicker to get there. We basically had a private tour. Not sure if that is always the case. Our guide was terrific.
Excellent tour, the guide was the best, explain everything with many patience, also give to us many recommendations. If I return to Puerto Madryn I will contact for hire another excursion. I will recommend to my friend
Great experience, I would recommend going on this trip in December when more penguin are still there. We went on March 9, 2025 and most of the penguins were gone. Our driver was awesome and he gave use alot of Information about everything of the area.
The penguins were amazing to see and watch. There are so many and so close to the walkway. Easy to photograph and video.
Great tour to see penguins. Tour guide was great also. Only downside is that we waited for over an hour for 2 people that never came, so we had 1 less hour with the penguins. Taking into account that we only had 2 hours to see penguins, 1 hour would make a big difference. They could have a better system for people who do not show. But the tour itself was awesome.
Our guide was waiting for us at the end of the pier. We thought we might be part of a small group but we’re delighted to discover it was just the two of us. The car was functional rather than luxurious bit we got to Punta Tombo ahead of the coach crowds which was a huge bonus. Our guide was knowledgable and fun. We had a great trip and saw thousands of penguins. At our request he dropped us back in town so we could explore before boarding the ship in plenty of time before we set sail. It’s a two hour drive across barren land to the nature reserve but worth it to be so close to the penguins and to learn all about them.
It was an amazing tour. Daniel (our tour guide) and Lucas (our driver) were amazing. Daniel talked about Pinguins and Patagonia the whole 2.5 hours. When we got to the Pinguin colony we were awarded by hundreds and hundreds of Pinguins and chicks. Daniel had provided to many valuable information that we knew what to expect and how to behave around those funny birds. He was always close by to answer questions. Lucas, our driver, brought us back safely to the cruise ship drop off point. It was a trip of a lifetime.
The 2.5 hr drive to get there was tough, but we had a very good guide. It's a pity our ship's stay wasn't long enough to have more time at the Penguin reserve
Our guide met us as soon as we got off the cruise ship and was able to get us out to the Penguins well before all the buses arrived. He was informative and and social during the entire trip out as well as back. We were able to experience this without the crowd and that is so appreciated. Saw thousands of Magellanic Penguins
Amazing trip! Guide Daniel is very professional! It was awesome experience, I saw a lot of animals in the wild and beautiful places
Close penguins!!! And really full information from our Guide Lucas, in private tour. The guide was very well informed and discussions were very educational. Thanks to him.
We had a lovely experience with Dos Oceanos but mostly because we had the best driver with Claudio. He was our airport transportation but we also had him as our tour guide for Punto Tombo and Peninsula Valdés. He is friendly, helpful, courteous and a wealth of knowledge. We never felt rushed and he gave us plenty of recommendations for places to eat and things to do. Every question we asked about our whereabouts he was able to explain and elaborate and at the end of our stay in Puerto Madryn we felt like we had a new friend.
Very beautiful!! Spectacular to know life and customs of penguins. The guide very clear and friendly. They were waiting for us to get off the cruise ship as agreed All from 🔟
It was the best! Lucas an excellent guide. I would definitely take a tour with them again. The schedule was met. We took a private tour.
Luis and Claudio were excellent, we went to the Valdez Peninsula and other tourist sites in the area, we saw penguins, elephant seals, walruses and other animals, we saw the skeleton of the whale
Very pleasant visit, comfortable transportation, Cristian our guide was well documented and very friendly, always on time
