This was a fantastic tour . We were a total of 5 people the wine tasting and vineyard visit was really enjoyable. Avignon is charming and well worth visiting. Emmanuel was an excellent guide and very informative . Highly recommend the tour .

This was an enjoyable trip. The Chateau Neuf du Pape winery and tasting was intimate and informative. Avignon is a unique, memorable medieval town with a number of nice shops and restaurants. Our guide was pleasant and helpful.
Our driver went over and above to pick us up, after miss information from our cruise line. She was a great driver, knowledgeable about the area, a comfortable vehicle and the wine tour and tastings were great!
You will be guided by the most knowledgeable, polite tour guide! He was the best I have every experienced in my many years of traveling!
Our guide Marion was fantastic. Shared lots of information while on drive. Free time in Avignon was perfect for visiting the Popes Place and this quaint town.
Great small group tour. Our guide Pepe was excellent. Weather was rough- high winds - but not their fault.
Terrible experience, turned out we were the only people on this tour, so we’re alone with the guide, Laurent. He barely spoke to us the entire trip, but the worst part was he had a terrible head cold, sneezed, sniffled and blew his nose the entire time we were with him. Winery tour was first, mediocre at best. He then drove us to Avignon where he left us for 3 hours. We were ready to leave after 1 1/2 hours but couldn’t contact him to pick us up. I gave this 2 stars out of generosity, but really, don’t waste your time on this one!
Would be 5 stars if it stopped at more than just one winery for a tasting. There is enough time for 2-3 winery and less time having to roam around Avignon.
A very nice, private tour to a beautiful organic winery, and then the historic city of Avignon. The tasting was great and the wine making process and terrior was explained in great detail by the sommelier. After that, Guide Laurent took us to Avignon, where he knew some great photo ops. We then had free time to explore the beautiful city, and had an authentic French meal. He returned us to our cruise ship in Marseille, very satisfied with our excursion. It was nice to see the ships massive, slow moving excursions, and not be part of that!
Laurent was very polite and quiet and was a good driver that took us to all the spots in a timely fashion. He was not educational but answered questions when directed to him. He was not flexible in terms of letting us use the leftover time to see marseille. He did not have water for us in the van. It would be nice if he turned on the AC in the the van a few minutes before we entered it. He was not knowledgeable about Avignon history or the French papacy which is the reason why we took the Excursion. The ruin of chateauneuf du pape castle had very little history description all in french and little description by loren. Winery he chose to sample chateauneuf du pape was small and did not offer a tour. Most of the picture explanations were in French so we learned very little. The tasting was on the level of a wine store trying sell their inventory. Our time at Avignon was ours to self tour and the lunch of rabbit loaf, foie grass, was average, and Loren did not give us suggestions for restaurants.
Great day wine tasting, learning about the grape vines and Chateauneuf du Pape wines and region. Our tour guide was very entertaining and knowledgeable!
The driver Jocelyn was fabulous! He was very fun, an excellent communicator, accommodating, knowledgeable. Avignon was delightful and the wine tasting at Domaine Le Prieure Des Papes was very good! Unfortunately, one of the other guests was clearly sick. She coughed constantly - she should have cancelled. It was extremely inconsiderate of her to subject the other 4 people in the van to her illness. It made the drive very uncomfortable for me.
We had a great time with Sebastien who was very knowledgeable on the area and history. He was a great driver and provided commentary and answered questions during the 1.5 hour drive. In Avignon he provided great insights on the possibilities and the amount of time each would take. We loved this tour and was a highlight of our vacation! Definitely recommend to anyone visiting Marseille and interested in both wine and medieval history.
Excellent private tour guide who drove us and then we independently viewed the cathedral on our own. She got the tickets so there was no waiting. Also had spare time for lunch, and little shopping. Also we didn’t do wine tour since we don’t drink and we had a 6yr old. So instead she did take us for a driving tour of Marseille which was perfect. Plus she took us to a grocery store so we could get a few things before getting back on our cruise ship! Awesome!
Unfortunately we started the tour more than one hour late, however, our experience at the one winery in Chateauneuf du Pape was excellent! It would have been a better tour if there was at least one additional winery visit in the region. The time in Avignon could have been shorter.
Our guide was wonderful - very personable and picked us up on time and with sign and name as promised right when we exited ship. We were in the mood to see a quick wine tour stop which candidly on this was more of a vineyard warehouse store tasting stop and not an actual vineyard tour per se though they do offer an audio accompanied walk through which covered the highlights. Then off to Avignon for a wonderful afternoon of lunch, shopping, sightseeing and wandering the beautiful walled city. Really enjoyed our day and our driver once again was so very kind and helpful!
It was a delightful day all around. I was especially impressed by our trip to Châteauneuf du Pape, which is just a beautiful bit of countryside, and the time we spent at the winery there. I have been to a number of wineries before, but never gotten such a personalised tour from the owner herself! I could have stayed in that town for hours, just because of the beauty. Avignon was wonderful in another way; the free time we were given made it possible to have a wonderful lunch, as well as see part of the city. If you are expecting to see everything in one afternoon, you're delusional, but the amount of time gave us a wonderful taste of life there. My only criticism of our time was the fact that we could only spend a day - we were on a cruise - when I would have loved to spend a week!
My mom and I joined 6 other people on this tour and we all felt that there were definitely some things that could be improved. Morgan was our guide and a very sweet girl but she’s very quiet and her English is a hard to understand. We sat in the back of the van and couldn’t hear or make out anything she was saying about the tour or history of Marseille. Also, she didn’t really set expectations for us so I was a bit surprised when we had to walk through an hour+ long audio tour at the Châteauneuf-du-Pape MUSEUM that was just “ok”. My eagerness to try this wine at the end was met with a disappointing less than 1oz taste of 3 wines (I’m not exaggerating). They didn’t even offer the option to buy a glass. We were all disappointed. When I signed up for a winery tour, my expectation was that we would be outside and get to walk through the winery and bottling operation and then get to DRINK some wine. Unfortunately, this was not the case. Then we were off to Avignon which is really what I feel we ended up paying for. It’s wonderful and we got to walk around for a couple hours and have some lunch on our own. If I were to do it again, I’d skip the museum and so-called “tasting” and just got to Avignon for the day.
This was a very disappointing tour .It wasn't a tour . It was a driver. Lea , from A La Francaise picked us up at 9 on the dot . After her name , we drove in silence to the winery. The winerty is a small museum. They hand you headphones and listen to an explanation of The wine, for 45 minutes. You are then given 3 very small pours, think 2 sips, of the wine. And then leave . Behind us was a 4 euro tasting having normal pours and 5 tastings . We then rushed over Avignon , a quaint walled city, where we had 2hr 15 to tour a castle ( additional 22 euros) eat lunch or shop . Literally impossible. We chose lunch and a stroll. We were given zero information about the city other than the name of a restaurant. Back in the van for 1 hour 15 of more silence. All the opportunities to chat and share information about the area were wasted. If I'd wanted a driver , I would of taken the train. The lack of information combined with the terrible wine tasting made this a wasted day in France .
This was a good small group tour. Driver was timely, knowledgeable and answered all our questions. The winery was fun and we learned some new things. We had plenty of free time to explore the castle and have lunch. I would recommend
Outstanding tour. Our guide, Pierre, was so knowledgeable and friendly. We had booked this as a small group and my husband and I were the only two in the group so we really had a private tour for the day and It allowed us a lot of flexibility. The Church of Notre Dame and the Pope's Palace were both so wonderful and very well worth seeing. Our lunch and wine tasting was just excellent. Given this turned out to be a private tour we were able to attend Sunday mass at Notre Dame in Avignon and that was a beautiful surprise for us. A huge thanks to Pierre for making this such a wonderful day.
We were a group of eight and had to book this tour very last minute due to our cruise itinerary changing and it turned out to be fabulous. Julien, our tour guide/driver knew so much about the area and gave us great info to really appreciate both Avignon and Chateauneuf du Pape. We loved every minute of it. We highly recommend this tour!
I'm so glad I took this tour from Marseille Vieu Port. The provider company arrived at dot 9:00 AM to pick us up from near my ship ! We were worried as we did not book through my Ship Excursions (Seabourn). Ship price was double. ..Also,The part I liked is they came even though we were just 2 passengers. Cohen is a superbly well mannered, and knowledgeable guide. We saw the Royal Palace du Avignon at our pace, and then Cohen picked us up for a great walk + wine tour of Chateauneuf du Pape... and a local lunch there.
We had a very nice tour taking us to baux de provence avignon pont du gard and finally to Châteauneuf-du-Pape. The first three are a must see the last one you can skip. Nelly our guide was awesome, nice knowledgeable and she gave us very good infos. We spent a great day.
Guide très sympathique. Nous avons été un peu déçu par contre car un couple qui ne parlait pas français c’est joint à nous donc il y avait du français et de l’anglais un peu mêlée. Nous avions demandé la visite en français.
