Market & Perched Villages Of The Luberon Day Trip From Marseille

This was a great day exploring Provence! We went to four tiny villages and one market. It was hard to decide which village I liked best. They were all very different and interesting. I was so glad that I chose this tour! My guide Audrey was the absolute best. Full of knowledge and an incredible driver!

I was picked up in Marseille by the driver/guide, Leanna, who was friendly and informative throughout the day. We drove to Aix to pick up the other travelers and then spent the day exploring the various towns and markets on our own. The people on this tour were a very nice group and we chatted and enjoyed each other’s company all day. Leanna also stopped at a lovely lavender field so we could take some photos, which was a nice bonus. It was a long, very interesting and enjoyable day.

Tomas was very interesting and knowledgeable about the areas we were visiting and the history of the region. The towns we visited were beautiful but it was a rare, very stormy day.

Luberon Valley was an area full of charming hilltop towns, incredible landscapes, gastronomy, and historic sites. Pepe was a 5 star guide who was informative with expressive descriptions. It was a long day but worth the adventure.

We joined a tour that visited some of the most iconic and charming villages in Provence. Given my lack of familiarity with the area, we found it challenging to navigate on my own, especially with unexpected road closures due to construction and the difficulty of finding parking in these small villages. This guided tour was a great choice. It allowed us to fully appreciate the beauty and uniqueness of Provence without any hassle. It was an enriching day that gave us a deep understanding of the region.

We had an excellent tour! The pick up location was easy to find and our guide/driver Caroline met us at least 15 minutes beforehand. We were given interesting information on the 4 villages were visited, they were all charming and had their own distinctive features. We were only five people so it was great not to be overcrowded! The tour timing was perfect too, we had the enough free time in each village.

It was a fantastic trip - only 6 of us in a private van. The guide was great!! The sites we visited were exceptional.

We enjoyed a relaxed tour of the Southern France. The tour guide was friendly. We also learned a lot about the region.

Laurent was a knowledgeable, fun guide and a very safe driver as he navigated the winding roads through the hills. The trip exceeded my expectations.

We had a fabulous day with PePe! He was very knowledgeable about the surrounding areas. The villages of Leberon are beautiful! If only the day was a little longer.😃 We would definitely take this tour again. I would eat at the last stop instead of the middle because we didn’t have enough time to eat and see all of the town of Roussillon.

These towns are beautiful, and the views are spectacular! Each one is unique. The tour guide did a very good job. however, when we got our confirmation, we were given an itinerary for the day. It had several villages on it. We not did not go to half of them. In the afternoon, instead of going to another village, they took us to an olive oil factory with an opportunity to make purchases. We were not interested in this. however, the tour guide let us stay in another village, and she came and picked us up later.

Loved seeing the various villages, the market on our first stop and the olive oil testing. Great day with our excellent guide, Lucy!

This tour was absolutely incredible. Our tour guide, Nicholas, was so knowledgeable and shared great stories and facts during the drive. We got to spend a bit of time in each of the little villages and explore on our own. We fell in love with the Provence region (especially Lourmarin!) and can’t wait to go back. Highly recommend!

I had an amazing fun day visiting the villages of Luberon with out wonderful guide Pierre and a lovely group of ladies! We had plenty of time in each village and had lots of helpful info and recommendations from Pierre. Definitely recommend this tour.

This trip to the Luberon villages was incredible!! The views from Gordes were incredible! Our guide Sébastien was amazing!! We were a small group and connected well with the other couple. The vehicle was very comfortable with AC. The whole trip was great and we took many pictures trying to capture the beauty of the countryside.

Sebastian our Guide was simply AMAZING! Told us about history as we drove and all important landmarks. He took us to so many beautiful places in one day- Thoroughly enjoyed it.. Strongly recommended..

This day in Provence between several magical villages, experiencing a large local market, and catching the Lavender fields in full bloom was such a wonderful day. This was a small tour group and our guide Nicholas S was so informative and fun. We never felt rushed and I cannot think of anything I would have changed about this day. I highly recommend this tour.

Each village was different and uniquely interesting. Guide, Sébastien, was grand. We had a great time!

The villages of the Luberon were just magnificent. Theft only issue we had was that the tour guide just takes you there and makes comments, but he just drops you off and you do the walking by yourself. You get drops off and picked up at a parking lot, not your hotel. We used Viator in Athens and it was better organized and more convenient.

Amazing tour! Each village had so much character and there was a nice variety. Our guide, Sophia, was perfect! Highly recommend booking!

I was very excited to go on this tour; however, it ended up being painfully boring and unengaging. Our guide was friendly but didn’t offer up much information on each village and its history. When we asked questions about them, they didn’t know the answers. Each town was purely free time, and the guide didn’t have any recommendations on what to see, do or eat in each one. My partner even bought the local biscuit from a well-known bakery in one of the towns and the guide had no clue what it was! Like another review on here, the guide was definitely just a chauffeur and nothing more. The tour was meant to be 11.5 hours but was only 9.5. Admittedly, everyone on the tour asked to skip the last stop (0.5 hours) because we were all so bored. However, still leaves 1.5 hours unaccounted for that the tour didn’t fulfil. I do not recommend this tour at all. It’s worth your money. Find a better (and cheaper!) tour that actually explains where you’re going and what you’re looking at.

Excellent coverage of the region with Alex providing expert commentary. Does not come with added frills but does provide good opportunity to explore at your own pace.

This was a great tour and the highlight of our stay in Marseille. My daughter and I enjoyed getting to know our tour guide, Florence, who was so knowledgeable and nice. Loved all the stops especially Fountain de Van Clos. Would highly recommend!

Our tour guide Florance was very good. The Sunday market at Lille de Sorgue was great. Lots of delicious local products.

A really awesome full day tour (bring water and a hat!) that explores 4 beautiful and unique villages. Jeff was a great driver and was very accommodating and flexible with customizing the tour a bit according to what different people wanted. We had a blast, would definitely recommend!

Lillie was amazing! we had a wonderful time! There was just enough time in each village to get an overall taste of each place. Throughout the drive we saw endless fields of lavenders and sunflowers

It was lovely to see the different villages and we had been so looking forward to the trip. However what was advertised as an 11.5 hour trip was cut by two and a half hours and thus every stop was very, very rushed including only 30 minutes for lunch with a push to order, get the check immediately and hurry. Instead of enjoying time in each village,, it turned into a rushed day. Additionally, the guide tried to take out one of the stops saying it was too far away and there was nothing to see there, although when we pushed to include it and arrived, it was lovely (though rushed). The guide was also very late so we missed the market on market day in one village. It was very nice to see the different areas and we appreciated the commentary but the experience was not as advertised due to the very shortened time and rushed nature. If expectations had been set differently, it might have been ok so we could have determined if this was our choice for the day.

Excellent itinerary that allows you to visit spectacular places of the Provence. Our guide was an excellent driver and shared many interesting historical facts along the way. She was super friendly and punctual, while also giving us the freedom to explore the sights at our pace. I'd recommend this tour 100%. Thanks for the nice day.

I’m glad I stayed an extra day in France to do this beautiful day trip. It was the highlight of my entire trip. Some villages look so fantastical, they don’t even look real. The guide was sweet, friendly and helpful. He enriched our experience by providing us with details about each village and also about the other happenings in France.

The time we spent in five villages was amazing. Most amazing is the scenery of Fontaine de Vaucluse. Every village with its specific beautiful charm ! We want to thank our guide who was friendly & knowledgeable even though it was the first time she did this tour. Don't miss this trip!

It was best tour since I had experience Provence tours. Especially Lucy (tour guide) lead us to most Beautiful road of Provence. Really enjoyed and feel so happy.

This tour was amazing. I was nervous because it was going to be an eleven hour adventure, however it didn’t feel like eleven hours at all. The day was remarkable and I would recommend to everyone!!

Our day trip to five villages in the Luberon region of Provence was the highlight of our week in Provence. Our guide Nelly B. gave us a wonderful taste of each village; she was knowledgeable, giving us an overview of each village and what it offered before we arrived. The countryside was beautiful and the villages were amazing. We hit market day at one and that was such an experience! Thought this trip was a great value and would do it again!!

Our day trip to five villages in the Luberon Mountain region of Provence was one of the best days I've ever spent in Europe. Our guide Nelly was knowledgeable and was anxious to make sure we had a marvelous experience. She went out of her way to give us an amazing trip, taking us to a field she knew had poppies still in bloom once she discovered that was of special interest to us. We saw five villages that were each different in character, and she gave us interesting background and tips for each. We could not have seen this much of a beautiful region on our own; we thought the trip was a really good travel value.

Ben was a great guide to our Luberon day trip in the third week of March. He picked us up at 8 am and off we drove to the natural park which is about an hour from Marseille. He took initiative and turned to extremely scenic country roads along the way wherever and whenever possible. Although the trees were not in full blossom, the weather was excellent. Along the way, Ben not only provided information on the history of the area, but also gave us information on the geography, including the terroir for the different kinds of wine produced, and many other things such as the difference between lavender and lavandine. The trip consisted of visits to Lourmarin (45 min, where we had our morning coffee), Roussillon (1 hr, where there was a small market and you could also take a short hike to the Ochre trails), Gordes (1 hr 15, where we had lunch), Fountaine-de-Vaucluse (1 hr, where you could take a walk along the source of the spring), L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue (1 hr 10 min, where you could also see the only church in France with Liberty, Equality, Fraternity written on its facade). It was about 5:10 pm when we were back in Marseille. Highly recommended tour and guide.

My husband and I took this tour last week with Noelle. It was a great opportunity to see the countryside of Provence, which we wouldn’t have seen otherwise. Noelle allowed for a good amount of time to wander in each of the villages. Each village has a different ‘feel’ to it. The Sunday markets were fantastic! Wearing comfortable walking shoes is a good idea, especially if you want to do ‘The Ochre Footpath’. Noelle adds lots of interesting commentary as you travel through different areas. This was excellent value for the money. Strongly recommend!

<p>This was a tour that was well worth the money, Guide Benjamin was fun, informative, and flexible. Lavender had been harvested the day before our trip ,but he went out of his way to find one for us and to take our pictures. Number of villages and timimimg at stops was very good. Just a perfect day!</p>
