Great way to explore a little bit of Marseilles and eat the local food and kill some time while at port
This food tour was very disappointing, especially given the price (about $150 USD). The guide was good, but not so much the food. There were two stops with cheese, one with aioli, crackers and chickpea flour “bread,” and two dessert stops. Very mediocre and not worth the price.
This isn’t a negative review per se. Just compared to other food tours and experiences we’ve had in other cities and countries it has room for improvement. First; the tour operator didn’t respond to our messages and questions either on the TA app or WhatsApp to ask and confirm timing and logistics for meeting. The guide was good and had nice knowledge. We felt the cost was a bit high for the time and amount of food/drink compared to others we’ve done. So, perhaps this is just a local market condition? Again, not poor, just ok.
We took a walking tour through picturesque Marseille and stopped to sample so many delicious treats. Inge, our guide, was absolutely delightful, entertaining, and knowledgeable. We ( people) highly recommend!
This is a trip worth taking and the most informative tour I had in Marseille . She knows her material
Inga was a terrific guide. Enjoyed eating our way through Marseille. Great food and enjoyable conversation.
Marseille definitely boasts a huge number of cafes and restaurants… this tour was a great way to sample many different dishes that would tangle anyone taste buds
Really excellent tour; interesting and personal . My wife and I had a wonderful time with our guide.
What amazing tour with Inga! She radiates positive vibes and lead me and the group I was with on a wonderful food journey in Marseille! She was knowledgeable about the cuisine and introduced us to friends in the culinary world along the way! I recommend this tour!
Our tour guide Sophie was awesome. Really took the time to share Marseille's history as well as it's unique cuisine. Super fun.
I had a very nice time on this tour today and it was a wonderful introduction to Marseille. It was my first day here so that was perfect. We had five stops in total; 3 were savory and 2 were sweet. Everything we tried was delicious and we were all full at the end. Many of these places I may have just walked past on my own so it was nice to go with a guide.
I was traveling alone in Marseille and one of the best things to do when solo is a Food Tour. The various food stops were excellent and gave a wonderful variety of foods. Our guide, Francesca, was prompt, patient for those running a little late, and very nice. I would have liked a little more history of Marseille, but overall was very pleased with the tour.
Really fun tour. Our guide Sofie was a font of information and a really fun guide as well. We learned a lot about the history of Marseille and enjoyed some good food and wine.
This tour was incredibly disappointing and inaccurate. Despite all the positive reviews, it fell far short of expectations. The three local restaurants we visited were all subpar, catering more to tourists than offering authentic culinary experiences. The food selections were lackluster and uninspired, leaving us feeling like we could have found better options just by exploring Marseille on our own. It was not only a waste of money but also a significant waste of time, leaving us with a negative impression of the city. The only redeeming aspect of the tour was our guide, Inga. She went above and beyond to ensure everyone felt welcome and cared for. Her warm personality and attentive nature helped salvage an otherwise dismal experience. I would not recommend booking this tour unless you're content with tasting mediocrity.
The city was great. Would have preferred our guide join us and talk more about the city and food rather than wait outside.
great way to get to taste local cuisine aswell as get some insight into the history of marseille. easy meet up at the view port in marseille where our amazing guide sophie took us round and gave us some great history and pointers of other things we should take in whilst in marseille.we stopped for some tapas style lunch giving us the opportunity to try several dishes and then moved on to try some more food and local drinks at a brasserie and cafe before moving on to a local sweet shop and patisserie to sample some sweets and cakes. 3-4 hour tour, highly recommended.
This tour is worth it’s value. You leave with a full stomach and full of knowledge. The tour guide was great the food was lovely. It really told a story from beginning to end.
This was a very fun food and history tour with Inga. It was enjoyable walk through Marseille with several stops for some wonderful food. Inga was so much fun and made the time fly.
Inga as an excellent guide - knowledgeable, engaging, and humorous. The food she arranged for us was delicious, and portions were good - you will not be hungry at the end of this tour! Highly recommended!
What was supposed to be a 2 1/2 hour tour turned into 4 hours. Ines the tour guide was very thorough and full of information. Being a vegetarian, she made sure their were options everywhere we stopped. She took time to get to know all the members of the tour and afterwards she sent a note with her favorite things in Marseille. It was a very pleasant afternoon strolling through Marseille and tasting cheese, wine, cookies, deserts, more cheese and wine.
Nice tour, knowledgeable guide. Who is good, especially the camembert and wine. Wonderful weather for this tour.
Inga was a lovely guide that treated us like friends and family and not a job. While I understand that the guide is likely required to keep some distance, socially (versus because of COVID protocols or something), it would have been delightful for her to join us during the food tasting to chat and do a compare and contrast of a local (guide) and a visitor (us).
Ines was an EXCELLENT tour guide! We visited so many amazing local eateries and learned some really valuable and unique information about the city of Marseille. Ines also sent us a list of recommended restaurants and brasseries to visit independently which was so thoughtful. 1000% recommend to anyone new to the area!
Really interesting, delicious tour!! Particularly enjoyed the glass of rosé to complement the food. Others tried the pastis. It definitely helped to bond the group! Lovely, informative guide
Our guide Benjamin was such a treat. He shared such interesting information along our journey and took us to spots we wouldn’t have found on our own. The food was delicious and well more than enough for our small group — we were stuffed by the time we were done. He topped it all off with a list of recommendations for his favorite places in Marseilles after the tour.
Strengths: Ultra friendly Guide, so nice! Weaknesses: There were very few historical elements, our Guide confessing herself very uncomfortable with historical dates and facts... which was disappointing. Restaurant owners sometimes seemed happy to see us, sometimes too busy. The description of the dishes often boiled down to only a sentence or two, with no cultural/historical explanation. Perhaps the most disappointing was our Reservation in French, hoping for a local experience. The tour was conducted in English, with a Guide who was not French... she offered us to translate, but since French was not her mother tongue, it was easier to understand it in English Are all, neither historical nor local Unfortunately I do not recommend despite the human kindness of our Guide
