This link leads you to download an app called Voicemap. This can be timely and requires a good connection. I highly recommend Voicemap directly. The tour of Charlottetown starts right at the dock as you depart from your cruise. It was an easy walk around the town. The app automatically engages as you near each destination. The directions and map are easy to follow. I really enjoyed the speaker and learned so much about the town and the history. I liked the app enough that I used it on other stops.

Itinerary
Welcome to Charlottetown, the charming capital city of Prince Edward Island! On this walking tour through Downtown, you’ll explore the historical and cultural treasures that make this city so special.
Our 75-minute walk starts and ends at Port Charlottetown, you'll hear how Prince Edward Island was discovered by Europeans, and then handed over to British landlords. You’ll find out how the islanders gained their independence, tiptoed on the brink of bankruptcy, and what eventually convinced them to join the Confederation.
On this tour, you'll pass by the Founders Food Hall and Market and hear about it while you walk.
Along the way, I’ll show you St Dunstan’s Basilica, one of only 26 basilicas in Canada, and one of the most visible landmarks in the city.
As you take in Downtown Charlottetown, you’ll have a chance to explore the Confederation Center of the Arts, a cultural center dedicated to Canadian visual and performing arts, where productions of Anne of Green Gables (the world’s longest continuous-running musical) were held annually until the pandemic hit
You’ll also see the birthplace of the Canadian Confederation, Province House National Historic Site, one of the oldest functioning parliamentary buildings in the world.
You'll have an opportunity to take in Charlottetown City Hall and hear its history while you walk.
Take in a few of the city’s hidden quirks, including a canon planted in the sidewalk, and statues of Eckhart, the mouse from David Weale’s best seller The True Meaning of Crumbfest. You'll see him outside the St James Presbyterian Church
As you take in Downtown Charlottetown, you’ll have a chance to visit the largest and the smallest churches on the island, St. Dunstan’s Basilica Cathedral and All Souls Chapel.
See St Peter's Cathedral, and hear its history while you walk.
See Government House and hear its history while you walk.
After taking in the Beaconfield Historic House, you'll discover how the PEI Railway became one of the world’s most crooked rail beds with a third of its total line made up of curves
As you take in Downtown Charlottetown, you’ll have a chance to find out about the last public execution in the province in Connaught Square, where convict George Dowie was hung three times before being declared dead
As you take in Downtown Charlottetown, you’ll have a chance to stroll past COWS ice-cream parlor, Lobster on the Wharf restaurant, and the Culinary Institute of Canada, where you can discover local cuisine
As you take in Downtown Charlottetown, you’ll have a chance to hear about the ghosts who foretold the tragedy of the burning phantom ship, and an exiled Irish God who lurks in the rocks near the Irish Settlers Monument
As you wander through Charlottetown Marina, Peakes Quay, and down the vibrant pedestrian street, Victoria Row, you’ll learn all about the city’s founding, and Canada’s early history.

So happy to the renovation of this place has completed. Looks great
The tour was very easy to understand. Quite a bit of walking would have been involved. We were doing the tour in the car as we have mobility challenges. We were able to figure it out in the car though it was a bit challenging with one way streets in the car versus walking. Nice overview. Definitely recommend.
The walking tour was easy to use and informative. The GPS tracking made it very easy to navigate since the audio would automatically start once you arrive at a stop. The tour took around 2 hours without stopping. There is some construction at the Province House which caused some confusion. You need to cross Grafton and take a left and the tour will resume. Highly recommend if you want a self guided tour option.
Very interesting historical info. The app was easy to download. It was a bit lengthy for me at one time.
Good audio tour with very detailed instructions on directions. Make sure you download the Voice Map at home prior to your travels
This had potential but I was trying to use it in a limited time to get a little more knowledge about the town. I started using it and it would not match up right with the path. I walked around the entire building where it started and nowhere indicated I was going in the right direction. This was a very frustrating start and waste of my limited time. Then we tried to catch it at a different stop and again had trouble navigating and went the wrong direction. It was no Google Maps...not sure I recommend unless you have some patience to figure it out and do trial and error. Really want a refund since we did not use it but cannot see how to do that easily.
The meeting place road was under construction, so Maps was unable to direct us to the starting place. The starting place was on Weymouth Street. I inquired with restaurant staff as to its location, no one was familiar with Weymouth Street in Charlottetown. They used Google Maps to locate this obscure Street. Not a good starting point. The replay 15 minutes did not work, so I could not rewind to listen to the speaker's message over again. Once we got our bearings, we decided to end our use of the audio. We needed a rest stop, washroom, which was in another direction. After our rest stop, we did not want to have to walk all the way where we left off to resume the self-guided audio. So, the benefits were short in value.
My husband and I LOVED this app. It’s such a steal for the price. The facts were so interesting and the directions were so clear and perfectly timed. We loved that we didn’t have to rush to meet a “start time” for a group tour as we took the ferry over earlier that morning and could go at our own pace. Just make sure you go the correct way around the circle. We went backwards at first by accident.
Well, it didn't go over very well unfortunately. O ce trying to activate the app when we were ready, I count get it going or find how to start it. Turns out after flipping through link after link, I found out I needd to load a new 2nd app. We did that, and when we started the tour, we couldn't becuase you have to be in the exact spot of the start point. Ours was in canada along the ocean boardwalk and it have 2 ft of snow on it in March. So, we could get to it, then when we struggles to do so, it lost our bearings and after 3 re-attempts, we eventually gave up. Im sure the summer would have been much better
The audio tour was easy to use and the information provided was interesting. We were able to go at our own pace, which was nice. I would recommend this audio tour of Charlottetown.
Excellent tour and a local woman did the narration. Will get another tour when we get to Qubec City! Highly recommend! Very easy to follow directions!
Great App self guided tour which gave us an excellent way to explore the town ans see all the important sites and historic buildings without the high cost of a full coach or on-person guided tour.
Well done. Informative. Some history. Good walk. Loved it. Kept us n the right path. Easy to follow.
Loved this audio tour! It’s an excellent way to wander through Charlottetown at your own pace while learning about the city.
I have used other self guided tours, and they were good, but this was a notch above. Well narrated, auto start and stop based n location, great history. And, Charlottetown was wonderful.
The easy to follow tour hit the major highlights of historic downtown Charlottetown. The guide was easy to listen to. Ample opportunity was given to pause and explore further.
What a great way to see Charlottetown. Lots of information at each stop. We had a couple of glitches with the GPS so ended up backtracking a few times however. Easy to pause when you wanted to shop or spend more time anywhere.
It was a beautiful day to walk Charlottetown and learn some history. I have recommended it to friends and will try some of the other audio tours.
Loved being able to replay the audio if we didn’t catch it all the first time. I listened to the complete audio again the next day.
We had many problems connecting; and following the directions. Audio issues. Other thank this, we loved the entire 5k walk. Great idea too. Wonderful history.
We used it for only part of the walk. We had difficulty finding the starting point. The info was good, but we were having issues with the earbuds, and then it rained, so we gave up.
The walkkng tour was nice and allowed you to move at your own pace and take detours. It was an interesting and I enjoyed the ghost stories sharef
We arrived via cruise ship and wanted to see points of interest in Charlotte's Town PEI but most of the tours meeting our desire, time slots and budget were already booked. So, we opted to buy a self guided tour. It was perfect. We didn't need to rush off ship with the other 3000 people. Ate our breakfast on board and once the line to disembark was minimal, we left. It only took a few minutes to download the app and it was very easy to use. It gave turn by turn directions and provided a map with GPS so you couldn't get lost if you tried. It was informative and unlike an actual person giving the tour, you could rewind and replay as many times as you wanted. We also only bought one $10 package and shared two wireless earbuds. As mentioned in another review. It was $10 well spent.
Very good tour! We loved that we could do it on our own schedule. I bought 2 tickets, but one would have sufficed. We each used one earbud and could listen at the same time. Coordinating 2 devices was not nearly as good! Will do this again in a different location.
The guided tour was a little confusing, had trouble with the GPS finding our location. We walked pretty fast between stops, but never finished., as the tour took much longer than expected..
We enjoyed this tour. Liked the idea that we could stop when we wanted to and look around. It’s a charming area and we learned a lot about the city.
Enjoyed the history and appreciated the detail provided. It was an excellent way to gain insight and appreciation for Charlottetown. Highly recommend.
We enjoyed being able to stop the tour and look around the art gallery and take a walk through Victoria Park. Also nice that we could start the tour when we wanted to and not at a specific time. Lots of stories and history. Would recommend.
