Tour 3 Magical Prague Markets With Locals And Christmas Goodies

We did a 3 hour Christmas market tour with Prague City Adventures and loved it. Our guide, Michaela, was fantastic. Super knowledgeable, so friendly, and great with our kids. She took us to several local Christmas markets that most tourists would never find on their own, which made the whole experience feel really special. Michaela shared Czech Christmas traditions and told the girls about the Little Mole, a quiet character who is every Czech kid’s best friend. The hand painted ornaments were beautiful, and we loved learning what makes Czech Christmas markets unique. We tried local foods and of course mulled wine. First time for us. Adam wasn’t sold, but I actually liked it and it definitely warmed us up on a very cold day. If you’re heading to Prague, Prague City Adventures is absolutely worth checking out. Great guides, thoughtful routes, and a really authentic experience.

Katy was a friendly and knowledgeable guide, who brought us to interesting places and was sensitive to our needs. The only thing that might benefit from some improvement would be the amount and variety of food included on the tour.

This experience was amazing! The guide was knowledgeable and very nice. It was great to see the markets and learn the history.

We had an awesome time with Johanka, she got us quickly away from the main market with its crowds and sameness and over to a few more local and unique markets. She was very knowledgeable about the city, its history and the local attractions. We were able to briefly experience the Season like a local for a few hours. We caught the subway and made our way out to places we would not have even known about, let alone visited. She was pleasant, personable and very charming as she led us from one market to the next, pointing out highlights and local history along the way. Since it was only my wife and I, the tour felt very personal and special and we enjoyed every moment. Thanks again, Johanka

Our family of 12 had a great tour with Nikola! We learned a lot about Czech holiday traditions, had some time for shopping at a Christmas market, and got the chance to try some yummy treats!

This tour was excellent, Miss was so friendly and knowledgeable. she took us to a couple of markets used by. The locals which we would not have found. Highly recommend this tour.

We thoroughly enjoyed our “Merry market Christmas tour“ with Prague City Adventures. Our tour guide, Katy Janouskova, was delightful. She is a Prague native and is incredibly knowledgeable about Czech culture and shared many fascinating Christmas traditions with us. We had mulled wine, traditional grilled cheese on rye bread, hot, mead, and delicious fried potatoes on a stick! She took us to three different Christmas markets that are unique and are not the most common ones that tourists visit. It was fun to visit the market stalls with her, as she was able, for example, to tell us what the most traditional Czech Christmas ornaments and activities are. Throughout the tour, she related interesting aspects of The Czech Republic and her experiences growing up here. This was our first full day in Prague, so it was especially valuable to tour the markets with her as she gave us many hints about navigating our way through the city. She was also a font of information about good places to eat and other things to visit during our stay here. She was kind enough to email us several good pictures that she took of us during the tour. We highly recommend this experience, and Katie as your guide.

Our guide was wonderful she was cheerful and loved sharing the different traditions of the country as well as how these might contrast to our own. She picked out special locations as requested. She provided guidance for our return at night to see the lights and helped us under the underground metro which became are go to to see all the area has to offer. Biggest thing she smiled and had joy in her voice we did a couple other tours and everyone was sad and bitter

Johanka was a great tour guide! I did three different Christmas market tours while I was in Europe and this was the best one! She showed us some markets away from the crowds and I learned about so many holiday traditions in Prague. Thank you for a great tour!

Nikki was a great guide. We saw Christmas Markets that were not overly crowded and more for the local population. Nikki explained the Czech Christmas traditions and asked each of us about our traditions. I highly recommend Nikki as a guide whether it be for Christmas markets or for around Prague.

If this doesn’t get you into the Christmassy vibes, I don’t know what will! Experiencing this day with someone who’s a local, who can share family stories and Czech traditions, made it genuinely special. I loved getting to explore the local markets, not just the touristy ones. Honestly, I thought the smaller, more authentic markets were even better. The handcrafted items were beautiful, and chatting with the vendors was such a lovely touch. And the food and drinks? 10/10. Everything was so delicious! It wasn’t crazy busy either, which meant you could take your time, look around, and enjoy the atmosphere at your own pace. Such a magical and memorable day, highly recommend!

Our guide George was amazing. We went to 4 Christmas markets. We loved going to the smaller markets, theyre ones we wouldn't have gone to on our own, and we went to the larger markets. We enjoyed some traditional food/drinks. George told us about his family traditions.

George was an excellent guide and very well prepared. He told us about Christmas traditions unique to Prague and we tasted local Christmas food. The underground train and tram rides were a great experience and also visits to the churches. I would wholeheartedly recommend this tour to anyone who wants to orientate themselves in Prague and learn about the traditions.

A wonderful Christmas market tour where you get to visit the real Christmas markets and not just the “tourist traps”. Michaela is was the perfect guide and she shared lovely local Christmas traditions with and explained the vest stalls to buy souvenirs from. The drinks and Christmas market snacks were delicious. I highly recommend this tour to anyone who wants explore the Christmas markets in Prague.

Such a blast with Katy! My husband and I had no idea what to expect but 2 1/2 hrs went by so far from all the fun we had. We got to learn about the Czech culture traditions and Xmas markets which was so fun. Katy made the experience so wonderful and we hope to be back to tour with her in the future

We took a Christmas market tour with Katy. She was excellent. From visiting the Christmas markets that the locals go to, to trying some delicious treats, to learning about the local Christmas traditions, it was a great tour.

We enjoyed our afternoon Christmas market tour with Katy. Ventured out of Prague on public transport/tram. Treated to honey mead, mulled wine and rum hot chocolate with Czech delicacies along the way out of Katys secret stash! There was only 4 of us in the end so we felt like we got a lot of personal tales from Katy regarding her Christmas’ in Prague and Czech Christmas traditions - she has lived in Prague all her life. Thanks Katy Finding the pick up place is to the left of the St Nicholas Church behind the clock tower.

This was a fantastic experience! Nikola was an excellent guide and we learned so much about the customs and traditions of Christmas in Czechia. It was lovely to be guided through areas of the old and new towns which we would never have found on our own. Nikola also advised the best places to buy souvenirs and the most authentic Czech goods. We also tasted some delicious local delicacies and drinks along the way. would highly recommend this trip.

I can't give high enough praise to Michaela for our Merry Christmas Markets walking tour! My husband is mobility challenged and Michaela was considerate of his limitations and he enjoyed conversation with her as I meandered around the markets and found treasures to bring home. Local foods and beverages were provided along with a lot of background information and local history. If we ever get back to Prague we will be booking another tour with Michaela!

This tour was so fun - it was an insiders look at the Christmas markets! Nikola was an amazing guide - she was so personable and made the tour very conversational and interactive. She took us to some markets where locals go that we would have never found and went to various shops to show us traditional Czech gifts, weaving in traditional items and explaining the holiday customs that went along with them. At one market we got mulled wine and sat down to chat about her own traditions growing up and how they translate to how she celebrates today. It was so fun and festive, she had us laughing and feeling the magic of the Christmas markets. She also gave us some practical knowledge around riding the subway and using the paid bathrooms, which was quite helpful. Highly recommend, she was a friendly and engaging guide!

Nikola was fantastic, she told great stories of how her family celebrates Christmas. It was fascinating to learn about the difference between her traditions and mine. We got to taste some delightful treats at the markets as well.

We had a fantastic tour led by George. He showed us around the market as well as giving us a nice war cup of honey mead wine. We were treated to some traditional Czech cookies and mulled wine as well. We really enjoyed the small group as well. George really knew a lot of the history and made us feel like friends by writing a Christmas wish as well as singing a traditional Czech song. Absolutely delightful.

Our guide Michaela was terrific and we went to a couple of local Christmas markets that were smaller than the main ones in Old Town Square and Wenceslas Square but wonderful nonetheless. So glad I booked!

This was an amazing tour of the smaller local Christmas markets where you got a real feel for Christmas traditions in the Czech Republic. The selection of goodies including mulled wine added a Christmas spirit. The experience included travelling on the Metro and Tram. Having a private tour guide really added to the overall experience.

Fabulous time with Nikola. We learned so much, travelled effortlessly around Prague via subway and tram and saw lovely Christmas markets. The best part though was all her stories. She was kind, patient and full of information. Don’t hesitate to book this!

Our tour with Kathy was lovely. I especially like that she shared Czech holiday traditions with us through out the tour. I also enjoyed the fact that she encouraged us to try different types of foods that I might not normally have tried - that was really nice and added to the experience!

Such a fun group and nice guide. We had a great holiday time! We tasted Christmas treats, visited three markets and some other locations too. Tour was just the right amount of time.

Katy, or guide was absolutely lovely! Mum and I had a fabulous few hours in her company. Before we set off she gave us each a shot of hot honey wine (Medovina) to warm us up, then we were off. She took us around a couple of her favourite stalls in the Old Town Square market, then we headed off to the lesser crowded, and more traditional markets outside the main centre itself. Along the walk & metro journey (she paid for the tickets) we were chatting throughout, learning lots about traditional Czech customs and Christmas things. We visited 2 different churches along route too, including having a little "wish angel" which would be hung from the church roof on Christmas Eve to be sent to Heaven for the year ahead (such a lovely idea). The 2 more traditional markets (Peace Sq and another) were lovely. Much more based on decorations/gifts etc rather than the food and drink which dominated the "tourist" markets. We sampled a couple of different treats at each, even having cookies baked by Katy and/or her Grandma to go with our hot wine/punch. Katy herself was so easy to talk to and very interesting to listen to. We learnt a lot and really enjoyed our few hours with her, I kind of wish we had more time with her to soak up even more of the traditions and culture from her!!

This was a short fun adventure with George. He took us to 3 Christmas Markets and shared some of his traditions growing up. He also brought us a Christmas drink to enjoy and provided some traditional snacks/sweets. We also got to ride the Tram and the Metro which we hadn’t done yet. Highly recommend.
