Our guide had excellent information and photographs and made sure we were comfortable and walking at a good pace. However, she talked extremely softly, which made it difficult to hear unless you were standing right beside her. She had good English, although her soft voice in combination with her accent probed challenging.

Itinerary
Meet your guide in front of the main entrance stairs to Rudolfinum building, Alšovo nábř. 12, 110 00 Josefov. The guide will be holding a blue and white umbrella. From here you will take a minibus to Terezín, which will take approximately 1 hour.
The minibus will take you to Terezín. Terezin is located approximately ninety miles north of Prague and just south of Litomerice. The town was originally built in 1780 by Emperor Joseph II of Austria and named after his mother, Empress Maria Theresa.
Terezin consisted of the Big Fortress and the Small Fortress. The Big Fortress was surrounded by ramparts and contained barracks. However, Terezin had not been used as a fortress since 1888; Terezin had become a garrison town that remained virtually the same, almost entirely separated from the rest of the countryside. The Small Fortress was used as a prison for dangerous criminals. Terezin changed dramatically when the Nazis renamed it Theresienstadt and sent the first Jewish transports there in November 1941. The Nazis sent approximately 1300 Jewish men on two transports to Theresienstadt. These workers made up the Aufbaukommando, later known in the camp as AK1 and AK2. These men were sent to transform the garrison town into a camp for Jews. The largest and most serious problem these workgroups faced was metamorphosing a town that in 1940 held approximately 7,000 residents into a concentration camp which needed to hold about 35,000 to 60,000 people.
The minibus will take you back to Prague after you will explore Terezín.

We chose the tour to Terezin. Our driver Nicolai? was incredibly nice. He drove great and told us lots of interesting things about Prague and very respectfully and dignifiedly about Terezin.
For those with a profound interest in historical events, especially those concerning the Second World War, a visit to Terezine is highly recommended. This site functioned as both a Gestapo prison and a concentration camp, meticulously preserving original flooring, furnishings, and a diverse collection of artifacts, including both authentic and reconstructed items. Engaging with this location offers a profound opportunity to reflect on the extent of human cruelty, barbarism, and criminality demonstrated during that historical period. Our guide, a historian with extensive expertise in the Second World War, provided an impeccable experience. My visit occurred on July 19th at 1:30 PM, and I regret having forgotten her name. Her knowledge allowed me to enhance my understanding and learn many other things I had not encountered in the numerous books I have read about the Second World War.
Excellent tour, and well worth making the trip. The guides were knowledgeable, terrific and provided details as expected. The driver was excellent! We really appreciated the smaller size tour, and the van was comfortable. The time was sufficient. The team was responsive when I notified them about the meeting place and when I thought we would arrive late. Note, The Terizin site memorial grounds- there was uneven ground, rocks and stairs for those with mobility difficulties. Overall excellent tour.
Our guide was excellent. She presented the tragic topic with intensity and thoughtfulness while providing in depth coverage of the facts and the history.
Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable and passionate. One of our family members spent time at Terazin (before being transported to an extermination camp) and the guide helped us piece together how she likely arrived at Terazin, and what her experience there was like. She really went above and beyond.
It is a great and sad moment in history. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable, professional and courteous. She took the time to answer all our questions. The one hour ride was seamless. We appreciate our time with our guide.
Great tour, easy to find the meet up point and on time and schedule. Very informative…………………………………….
Kind. Compassionate. Knowledgeable. Reflective. Tour guide was very sensitive while explaining this significant part of our history to my 10 year old.
Good and stress free to go to the camp. I recommend this to people who wants to see terrezin camp. Will do it again in a heartbeat
We did not have a lot of time but liked that this tour provided a half-day afternoon option. Our guide Zora was exceptional and knowledgable, bringing the history to life. The only downside is some of the facilities were closed because it was Saturday (Sabath) and the museum closed at 5pm so we only had 20 minutes to look through it...
A most profound and chilling experience. Everyone must do to really appreciate the horrors of what actually happened. Guides superb.
Perfect tour. We got to go through the tunnels when the small fortress was built in Terezin. This is something we would not have been able to do without a tour guide. Our tour guide at the Terezin small fortress was fantastic. A wealth of information and very passionate about what she does.
Its was a brillant ,friendly and knowledgeable experience. With a excellent bargain price , defintely use again
David, the guide, excepcional! Kind and friendly, we feel very good, and he explain everything super. I recommend this guide especially
The bus and the ride there and back were very pleasant and the guide on the bus itself was knowledgable, but the tour experience at Terezin itself was highly disappointing. Our guide at Terezin spoke extremely quickly with a very thick accent. Everyone in our group had difficultly understanding him. The tour was not engaging at all and we had no time to tour the camp by ourselves to see the 20 minute film about the site, etc. It felt extremely hurried. After touring the fortress (prison) we were driven to downtown Terezin where we had about 15 minutes (!) to tour the museum which is on the site of the ghetto where most of Jewish inmates were held. This too, obviously, felt very hurried. I don't think that anyone on our tour felt that this was a great experience.
The tour was disjointed. There was one guide that was with us in the coach and once we got to Terezin, there was another guide. Each of them spoke separately about each individual sites, but none of them painted the big picture.
Not a "fun" experience but that's not what we signed up for. Good transport to Terezín and overview of the small and large fortresses, and the atrocities committed there. Our tour guide did not tell us her name, but she was funny and knowledgeable. You can probably do this cheaper on your own but might be difficult if you don't have a car
Informative and thoughtful tour of Terezín, as well as an efficient way to see the site from Prague as a half-day trip.
Extremely moving-walking by cemeteries upon arrival set the tone. Guide presented a honest picture of life under Nazi control for relocated Jews. Horrific. Walking in tunnels could be problematic for visitors with mobility issues. Museum displays were powerful-a must see.
Excellent tour of 3 sites, informative, sad and poignant. Nikola was a brilliant guide throughout. Our 11 year old enjoyed it more than us.
A really enjoyable tour of Terezin including the small fortress and ghetti. Our tour guide/driver was informative throughout the trip including transfers to and from Terezin. We also had time to visit the cemetery and crematorium, which was an added bonus to the trip. We would highly recommend.
It was a good drive 40 miles northwest of Prague, where this entire town (bordered by an 18th-century military fortress); where an ancient fortress structure was turned into a concentration camp by the Nazis. This trip was very meaningful for Tom, as it also allowed him to explore a MASSIVE fortification built in 1798 by the Hapsburg empire to defend the country from “then” any possible Russian invasion. In its day the 12-mile perimeter of the town of Terezin (named after St Tereza) was totally surrounded with a defensive double wall and mote, along with a connected side fort (also called the small fort or better known to Tom as a Keep = last line of defense STRONGHOLD) for citizens to escape to should the outer wall fortification be breached in 1798. In its day the fortification was never challenged by foreign invaders, and all the cannon armament was removed during the first world war as scrap metal. The small fort (And it is NOT really that small) is where the army garrison was housed and it also served as the town’s prison. At the start of WWII and the German occupation, most of the towns people had evacuated, so the Germans turned the now empty town (inside this large walled complex) into a Jewish ghetto (holding area) and thus a place (example = reverse corridor entrance at the bottom of a funnel) where the Germans organized further deportation out to other camps. The “small fort” facility became the entrance processing location for over 155,000 Jews / Gypsy’s / Homosexuals / Political dissidents, that the Germens wanted to eliminate. Of that number 35,000 died in Terezin from torture / hard work / execution / typhoid disease, and the rest then transported to other work / death camps. At the end of the war, with the Russians liberating the camp, many of the inmates had nowhere to go and stayed inside the ghetto for months, but typhus disease ran rapid and only 3,600 survived. Many Russian doctors and soldiers also died of typhus as they were trying to help the inmates. This tour turned into a powerful experience for us, as we were told of the terrible things that happened here to both Jewish families and political prisoners.
This was a very informative tour. While not a fun adventure, one w/sobering information on what Terezin used to be. Our driver was SO knowledgeable, pointing out all sorts of things from Prague to Terezin. Our tour guide at the camp was fabulous.
Excellent guides and seamless process with meeting and organizing our trip there and back. I will definitely recommend to my friends, thank you!
The tour was moving, informative, and sobering. People who sign up should note that the meeting point is NOT at the address in the confirmation (on the side of Rudolfinum); it’s in front, outside. Look for the blue and white umbrellas. Nor is it self guided (that’s what we signed up for); we had charming guides who spoke an impressive number of languages and were very informative. Luckily we had enough cash on hand for a reasonable tip. It’s an hour each way so you can reasonably do something in the morning, do the tour, and be back in time for dinner. Highly recommend!!
The site was extremely interesting, but the tour was very badly planned and even worse done. The guide was for one hour at a very fast pace. One can tell she did not want to be there. Unbelievable how badly the tour was planned and done even worse. Go by yourself there in the morning and for a few $ you can get a one-on-one real professional tour from site. Allow a full day.
Great tour and informative guide around the Terezín camp. Solid knowledge on historical events, and the museum at the end shed additional light to the information heard.
We spent most of our time at the small Terezin concentration camp fortress and had an excellent guide although we don't have her name.
This tour had less interaction with the guide, but is still worth taking if you’re not going to Auschwitz. Easily found our guide and the arrangements were simple to follow.
Interesting tour. Half day only included the prison or small fortress so if you want to see more choose a full day option. But our guide was great and super friendly!
I’m a WWII buff and did not know there was a camp just outside of Prague. Found it very interesting and extremely sad. Well worth the visit and education.
Loved it! Different story, different place and was captivated all along! Would do it again! Its a must!
Our guide David (English and Spanish speaking) was wonderful! His commentary was so informative, I am very glad I went on this tour.
The tour starts in Prague 1 via electronic check in. As you head towards the destination, you are expected to download and read about an introduction of Prague history. I thought that to be usual as I wanted to enjoy the ride and enjoy the country side scenery. When the tour operators did speak, there were a total of five languages being told so it was tedious after awhile. Once we were at camp, we were traded for a local guide who was quite good however we were grouped with yet another tour group that it became a heard of cows trying to listen in to the history of the place. The meeting point destination was not clear after the camp tour, that many of the guests wondered about finding the bus home. Our bus tour , was quite friendly and added personal touches of local flavor to the ride. If you like adventure with your tour, then this is the one for you.
Knowledgeable and informative guide. There were different groups on the trip so the guide spoke multiple languages. Great experience!
The tour guide didn’t seem to know much about the subject matter besides a few memorized facts. We spent about 10 minutes at a cemetery site. Then went to the small fortress. We then had to wait around for about 20 min for the “tour” to begin. We walked around for 1 hour with a guide and then left. We got back in about 4 hours, not 5. No free time to walk around and see anything.
A very sobering and informative experience. Guide from Prague and the other guide inside Terezin were great. Easy check in. Last minute decision but glad we went.
This is very informative tour on the Terezin detention camp. The tour includes a visit to the cemetery and then the little fortress which was the political prison site in the camp. A Terezin guide takes you through the little fortress. I wish we had driven through the town side a bit more, but since it is now a restored and inhabited town, I can understand not everyone would want to see that side. The transportation was a very comfortable bus that departs from the Rudolfinum near the river.
Punctual pick-up, kind organisers, guide in Terezin was excellent. Would take the tour again at any time
Straight forward trip. Tour rep was very friendly and greeted us with a complimentary bottle of water before giving a brief description. No time messing around, we got straight on the bus and headed to Terezin. As sad as the place was, the trip was very interesting and we saw and learned a lot. Overall, a pleasant experience. I would recommend this trip. Thanks guys!
The guides were very helpful I strongly recommend this tour If you are interested in World War 2 history.
The guided tour of the prison by the local guide was the highlight for us- very informative. We wish that we would have heard more about the town as we were driving through it. Our guide was sick but did not wear a mask or keep her distance.
The tour guide did a terrific job of explaining the story of those that ended up at Terezin. While the subject was sad the tour was informative and educational for my family.
The trip was well organised. The guide arrived in time to the meeting point and handed us some water bottles and provided some basic explanations. We then headed for Terezin in a mini-van. The guide provided an ample introduction to the history behind Terezin. The journey took around 50 min, but they elapsed in a sight. We visited the cemeteries and the crematory in Big Terezin and then had a tour through the main streets. We then headed for Small Terezin, where the guide provided detailed explanations. The visit finished with a film about the propaganda that nazies made about Terezin. The guide had very good command of Spanish, Italian, and also English. She was very friendly and well informed. The was able to create a nice atmosphere in my group. The net time of the visit was roughly three hours. Very good experience. I definitely recommend it.
Martin our tour guide on the ride to Terezin was great! Provided just the right amount of information during our time together. The stories told by Martin and the guide at Terezin were hard to comprehend, but important to hear. I highly recommend this experience.
Terezin is a powerful and sobering tour. Martin our guide is very informative and gets to know his tour clients.
ive been to poland and visited the camps there but did,nt know about terezin. so glad we visited there and were able to pay our respects to those who suffered and died. out guide was very knowledgeable and brilliant at her job.also the driver hans i think was brilliant, kept us cool with bottles of water
The tour of the camp (known as the small fortress)was excellent. Martin the over-all tour guide was informative and kept it light as he could considering the subject matter. Would highly recommend
The story of Theresienstadt-Terezin is compelling on so many levels, but this trip just missed a few of them. Let me start by saying; this tour is still worth it, if you have done your research and have some background with the Holocaust. If not, then you might not enjoy this particular trip or tour company. The positives are obvious; phenomenal site of remarkable historical significance, GREAT secondary tour guide who took the group through the Small Fortress, and the price is definitely decent for the duration of this tour. The first issue of note, the description of this tour stated that a maximum of six people would make the trip, but we counted 18 on our visit to Terezin. Again, not a huge deal, but not what was promoted in the description. Next, we were not able to enter the actual Ghetto Museum, on the grounds of the Small Fortress, or Magdeburg Barracks, in the town/Large Fortress. Again, this was disappointing, but not crushing. Finally, our tour guide was very well-intentioned, but her English was so strongly accented that we often had trouble piecing together more complex thoughts. Great job, but it was hard to understand her sometimes. There is so much more to say, but I will leave it at this: average tour, but an absolutely amazing place! Do your research beforehand and you will enjoy this particular tour so much more.
