Really helpful member of staff walked us through the exhibits. Could be a lot of fun for older kids or people interested in film production. The only thing keeping this from five stars is that if you’re already knowledgeable about animation, video editing and have tried VR, there may not be much for you here.

I have fond memories of this place from when I first discovered it while walking through Prague. Later, I visited with a school group. We all loved the atmosphere, inventiveness, and creativity of the place, as well as the fact that the exhibition is interactive and unconventional—making it interesting for everyone and full of surprises. I recently visited "Na Film" again, this time with clients from the Motýlek center, and we would like to express our sincere thanks for the kind and helpful assistance we received. We truly appreciated the warm welcome, the kindness shown to our clients, and the respectful attitude. Thank you, and we look forward to visiting you again in the future.
Perfect experience to have with friends. It was very fun and engaging, and the guides were amazing. Definitely recommend!
It was amazing. It is a must visit and experience.
Wonderful experience. We went with kids and the guide, workshop and museum itself were all absolutely beyond expectations. Thank you very much!
A beautiful interactive museum in the centre of Prague. I took a group of summer camp children aged 8-13. We enjoyed the visit a went home with two videos we created. It was a great experience!
This visit was great. I can recommend this type of museum 10/10! Go ahead and enjoy it!
What a cool place! I visited with a group of my secondary school students and we spent a good hour and a half learning the basics of how the art and technology of film came into being, and trying our hand at animation ourselves. There were plenty of interactive and hands-on experiences on the way. I think our favourite was the Foley room, where the students had to create the sound track to an existing animation short. The guide and other staff were knowlegeable, kind and helpful. Also: the museum is situated in a lovely part of central Prague.
This is the most fun I've ever had in a museum. Spent four hours watching amazing animations, making foley recordings, stop-motion animations and learning about film. Could have spent four hours more.
I was there with a group of 15 children aged 6-11. We bought a special event for the school. We had the whole museum to ourselves. Our lecturer Thea was great. All the children really enjoyed the whole program. They were happy to be able to touch everything, try it out. Even as an adult, I enjoyed it a lot. We are definitely going to visit the museum again, because the entrance fee was also friendly.
It was absolutely amazing easily the best museum I’ve been too
Whether you are interested in film, photography and animation or are looking for a break from the usual sightseeing around Prague, this independent museum is well worth the visit. Such an interactive experience that is suitable for every age, and each exhibit can be enjoyed with or without prior knowledge of the filmmaking world. The workers were very kind and guide you through the exhibit, explaining each display. The immersive VR exhibit of Ondřej Moravec‘s ‘The Darkening’ was definitely a highlight, followed closely by the sound room where you can create sound for 3 different films and the animation table where you can create a stop motion clip frame by frame. No matter the age, you’re guaranteed to have some fun here!
When we went there, we had no expectations at all but it turn out to be one of the best experieces in Prague. We separated in two groups - children and older students. Guides adjusted the program to age which made it more fitting for all of us. It was just amazing.
We visited as part of a school trip and had a truly fantastic experience. Magda was a brilliant guide who made the visit extra special. Thank you so much!
Very cheap admission around £8.50pp and cheaper for students. Would definitely recommend if you are a fan of cinema and want to see the behind the scenes aspects. A member of staff explained every aspect of the museum to us in english and each part was interactive and hands-on, which made the experience very personable and memorable. All staff were very kind and there was even a cafe at the entrance for before or after you go through the museum. The exhibition was quite short but as each part was interactive it meant you could take your time and experience the whole thing. Fun to experience and pass an hour in Prague.
Amazing staff, amazing hands on exhibits, would highly recommend. 10/10 Not been to a museum like it before. If you haven’t been I’d recommend going 100%
I visited this museum with my 17 year old students and we're exited. They could try many things (film sounds, animation), everything was very interactive and demonstrative. I can strongly recommend both for fun and for study.
Hidden behind one of prague's numerous beautiful boulevards, is this excellent museum. Not only does it shows the history of cinema, including interactive, working models (including a detailed look inside a screening machine), and a cool VR experiencemm you learn about the science, physics and psychology behind it. There is also a wall dedicated to "behind the scenes" of designing and creating an animated movie, which I learned a lot from. The staff were very friendly, and fluent in English. The tour is about 1 - 1.5 hours, I heartily recommend it.
Overall great experience! We had there great time with two 12years old girls (and to attract girls in puberty is hard work😅). Interactive exhibition, lot of information provided without being overwhelming, possibility to create animation movie and experience virtual reality, superhelpful and well-informed staff. Thanks and highly recommend!
The museum is very interactive, so you not only learn a lot about film but also experience it. We made our own animation and also added sound for three movies. The staff was really nice and helpful. The best museum in Prague that we've been in!!
An absolutely fantastic exhibition – creative, interactive and engaging from start to finish. Perfect for both adults and children. We learned a lot and had great fun. Definitely worth a visit!
After seeing great reviews, we decided to visit on the last afternoon of our trip, and we are so glad we did! The museum was amazing, with a lot of interactive elements and VR films. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, and clearly were very knowledgeable and passionate about the museum and its exhibits. The information and audio were in both Czech and English throughout, and clear instructions for interactive exhibits were provided. I would thoroughly recommend visiting - this is one of the most enjoyable museums I've ever visited.
I really liked this. The interactive aspects as well as the information from the guide male for a wonderfull experience. They can even send you the animation you made!
I was walking through the streets of Prague, just walking around the city with no real plan, waiting for my transfer to the airport to leave. I was heading to the railway station, when by chance I saw a sign for the Film Museum. Just the type of thing I was quietly hoping for. The staff was helpful and the exhibition itself was pleasant and had really much to see. If you want to experience everything and want to actually read the signs and do some foley sounds for films, it could take up to 2 hours. I didn't have the proper time this time, went through it in maybe 45 minutes - maybe the full experience next trip! I would suggest this to anyone that is even remotely interested in history - film related or not. I did know most of the film history already, but it was fun to see it and try it yourself. Also would imagine it would be a fun trip for the younger attendees. And if you don't have time, drop in for a takeaway latte (coffee was goood) and buy some Jaw socks.
I absolutely loved this museum. It was educational with interactive activities that really added to the experience. Usually I’m anti-VR and think that they’re kind of scammy but the Darkening Film and the other VR they had were both super engaging and neat. The staff was incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. They helped me with the different interactive parts and sought me out to let me know when the different rooms were free for me to use. The foley room was especially cool and so was the room with film through just audio. Not sure how to describe it any better but super cool and something I’d never seen/heard before. Overall super cool museum that I’d recommend to anyone!
A well organized exhibition that shows us a summary of the history and evolution of filmmaking, showcasing some of the inventions used up to the early 20th century. The VR visit can be a little dizzying at first, but overall it is quite enjoyable. Surely worth the ticket price.
One of the best and delightful experiences in Prague center. Interesting and interactive expositions. Really enjoyed it with my girlfriend. Thanks!
I highly recommend the NaFilm museum. Entertaining, interactive, and educative for visitors of all ages. We enjoyed it very much.
This museum is truly one of a kind and so incredibly well made. Super fun for every age, makes you bring out that child like wonder as you’re invited to interact with everything. As a filmmaker, I appreciated the level of interaction you could have, and could’ve spent hours just playing around in the animation studio. It also has a nice atmosphere and cafe at the entrance and the people who work there are super attentive and passionate about what the museum has to offer. They create a really nice, welcoming and fun vibe. If you want something fun to do on a rainy day, that isn’t touristy and a bit different, this is my favourite spot.
Absolutely great! For kids and for adults too. Great exhibition, great people! You can try everything. We highly recommend!!!
Truly something else; interactive with great materials and super friendly people. Every room was very interesting with a combo of old & modern.
We visited the museum with 2 school classes (ages 14-15). The classes were divided into smaller groups of 15 to make the experience more interactive for everyone. Even though these groups were still a bit big for the spaces in the museum, the museum guides were very good at getting the students to interact, and it was clear they were knowledgeable and passionate about film history and development. The students really enjoyed their time, and got to play with many aspects of film making. I can definitely recommend a visit!
Fantastic exhibition for the whole family. Our kids loved every minute of it. All the rooms are interactive. The 1st room gave me very strong Psychonauts (videogame) vibes. The staff are welcoming and helpful. Well worth the money!
one of the best museums I've ever been to...interactive, interesting, with kind people guiding you; great for school kids
This museum is quite small -- we mistook the entrance for a cafe at first -- but every room had something to do. I especially liked the large zoetrope, the crank film projector, and the sound foley room. The staff are very friendly and helped show us how to use some of the exhibits and explained the concepts behind them. My spouse liked the VR World's Fair and the focus on Czech film history. Highly recommend if you have even a passing interest in the art of film!
NaFilm was incredible especially considering how cheap the entry free was. The lady at reception was really helpful, we were there at the same time as a school group and they worked out a slightly different route for us so that we didn't need to queue for all of the exhibits. We started with an immersive VR experience, I don't want to spoil it so won't say too much but will say it was incredibly unique and something that will stay with my for life (so good). There was a a lot of interactive and informative exhibits around lighting, sound and colours. The staff we incredible too, they gave us extra information in each room, helped us use the exhibits and made such an effort with us. We had so much fun!
Great, great, great!!! Unique. Fun. Interesting. Amazing. We learned so much. It is interactive, you may try a lot of things, the stuff is great.
The New Film Museum is awesome value with some great VR movies, some history of film, some Czech films and animations. A setup to record your own stop animation movie which we filmed (could have emailed to ourselves) is really cool for the budding animator. The 25 minute VR film which one local awards is very cool and interactive. Coffee afterwards in the shop with some Pink Floyd playing on a vertical phonograph added to the atmosphere. Great vibes, and great personal service in the VR and Zoetrope areas. Easily found in the city centre. We can’t recommend enough – 2 hours amazingly well spent.
Amazing, enjoyed it a-lot, was a truly good and fun time. I walked around tge whole museum, tried all the interactive exposition
A very informative and fun museum, whether you know a lot about the history of film or want to learn more. So many interactive exhibits, and the staff member who led us through was so kind and knowledgeable!! She answered any questions we had and explained everything really well. I think this museum has something for everyone, whether you’re a visual, auditory, or kinaesthetic learner. 10/10
My family and I had a great time here. There's a very nice virtual reality movie. Clearly explained animation principles. Absolutely amazing was that you can create sounds to a silent film or create your own animation. Definitely 10 out of 10.
Very cool museum with nice technical equipment and great art exhibitions; the instructions are both in czech and english. The visit was worth it!
A really fun and interactive little museum. I went with 2 boys (9 and 11 years) and we all had fun dubbing movies, using the movie projector, experiencing a little VR experience, animating a short film, and everything in between. (Except for the movie screenings, which looked fun but for which we didn't have the patience as this wasn't our only stop that day.) The staff was friendly and it felt like they actually care about movies and the tech behind them. Also, the stop-motion animations that you get to make in the museum, you later get via email.
Very lovely made film museum. You can feel the passion for films Here. The VR Exposition was also very nice. The Stuff also was very friendly.
Brilliant small museum with loads of engaging activities that introduce film techniques for every age. Had a superb time and the curators come and chat and share information throughout. The VR bits are well worth the small additional fee.
Excellent experience! Museum covers the first moving images to the first film camera - very cool VR experience. Also an animation section downstairs that was really interesting and informative. Staff were all lovely - Would definitely recommend.
Mind-blowing look into how still images become moving pictures, what makes good animation good, and an amazing VR experience
It was a great experience ! One of the best memories I made in Prague. I absolutely recommend it to all the cinephiles and also to everyone who is in search of an interactive and fun museum. Great for families, friends and solo visitors.
Great interactive museum that is not a tourist trap. Even though it’s not big, I spent there 2 hours because it was all so interesting.
It was a great experience and we are so happy, that we went to this place with my 7 years daughter.
