It’s one of the excellent museums. The structural design is just amazing. Great photo location. The main attraction without a doubt is the miracle of evolution. Highly recommended to visit if you re in Prague.

The audio guide will introduce you to the interesting history of several objects in the Old Town Square, such as the Monument to Jan Hus
In addition to the Astronomical Clock, there are other several hundred year old buildings in the Old Town Square, all highlighted by the audio guide
One of the audio guide's stops also describes the history associated with the Estates Theatre in Prague, which prides itself on being the only still-functioning stage where Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart himself played
The audio guide will gradually take us to Wenceslas Square, where we will recall the two most important historical events that are connected with this place, and which fundamentally shaped the development of the Czech Republic.
The audio tour of the city ends with the National Museum itself. Great experience. Well designed and documented, from early history with map projection of territories and kingdoms as they grew and shrunk. The old building itself is a master architectural piece. You start the tour in an adjacent building dedicated to the modern history of the country early 20th century. you moved through a tunnel to the larger museum. Count for half a day visit
Take a full morning to experience it. Truly recommend downloading the free app. The exhibits are phantastic. A must in Prague
Always like to visit at least one museum in a country to learn about their history, people, and whatever else they hold dear. This was a great option for Czech and Prague. Huge museum that you could easily spend a few hours or many more hours. Was not particularly crowded on a late Saturday morning. We bought tickets online (had to join the museum), scanned them near the box office and got right in.
It has tons of rooms and pieces, from rocks to biology, the topics are varied. Is perfect for children and absolutely enjoyable for everyone.
Please don't just admire the building from the outside. Lots more to see inside. Tickets are available on site but can book ahead. Mission Impossible was film here. There is plenty see inside from fossils, story of evolution to historical excavations to Woolly mammoth statue.
Another must-see in the capital. Tickets are affordable, however I recommend coming a bit early and showing up while the weather is nice since both queues can be extremely long. You should set aside 3/4 hours for the tour.
Myself and my partner very much enjoyed a day at the museum during our city break in Prague. There are so many interesting collections and we lost track of time as we travelled around. So much thought and care has been taken to present each collection in an entertaining and accessible way. There was so much to enjoy and think about. We hope to return to Prague and would also return to the museum as I am sure there was more to see.
Wow, the older building is absolutely amazing and the building alone is worth a visit. The displays are good and walk through the old part of this two building museum makes it all worth while.
Lovely experience ! Old security gards at the door didnt had empathy or kindness even to answer a question while waiting on the que due to heavy busy day . My wife and daughter was frustrated while waiting on the que at -3--5° temperature .
This museum which is not listed as a must see attraction But we thoroughly recommend as a must see attraction. Situated in a majestic building with lots of history. You need a whole day to see this valuable attraction
Bad experience. Viator's vendor sold us national museum tickets for the Lucy exhibit that they knew didnt exist and charged double the going rate to do so. After taking our money and giving us a receipt for the tickets we were informed there were no tickets but tried to get us to change to the next day where there was availability, and then said they could do no refunds. Scam artists
I think you must visit this museum only once , it is enough . Beautiful building with interesting history and beautiful stones.
You need to read the pick up point very carefully. I used Viator directions they were horrible. Never made it to the venue. Worst directions on how to get tickets I have experienced
Really beautiful museum that is in 2 buildings. Bought the audio guide deal. It worked very well with an app on the phone. Didn't do the self guided walking tour in the end as ran out of time. Note there is an indoor tunnel connecting both museum sites! Didn't know this and crossed the road 5 mins to the 2nd date which wasn't an issue. They don't like big or even medium bags in the museum. I was told to put it in a locker or I couldn't go in! Annoying but there's lots of lockers. So much to see in the museum I learnt alot about czechia.
Very enjoyable way to get an informative history of the Czech Republic in the 20th century. That was the main reason for our visit, and it didn't disappoint. Only minor issue for me would be the lack of signage and the direction pamphlet. Maybe it was just me!!
The inside of museum is magnificent, but the exhibition is an average for me, this is more for the family with kids-kids would love it!But still nice to see everything..since I like history, that wasn't bad made, and also the exhibition of evolution of animals. I didn't like that there is no written direction where to go, so you are trying to not skip anything, and in the middle of that was one store with museum staff, they could put it at the end, like they did with the smaller one( the smaller is on good place, but too small).
Lovely few hours spent here, definitely recommend if museums are your cup of tea. Beautiful inside and out with so much to learn.
Amazing amazing amazing and the word is not self explanatory. The way describes by the visitors like 2 hrs is enough to cover this huge amazing museum but honestly based on my experience as museum lovers. This museum is totally different. It is 2 buildings connected internally as an adult I purchased ticket with 300 kc and also the same price online. I attended and the guide in the reception explains what is available and then direct me into a locker and coat rooms which you can keep your staff safely which is another good service so you can move and enjoy. I attended the Olympic museum and nothing much to see then moving to the 20th century museum which was wooow amazing to go through the history of the country and how things were moving till day this took most of my time as history lover beside it is huge information to be shared and processed. Moving to the next historical building which was another wooow on the building, feelings and atmosphere. It is another huge place to visit and explains the history of the building and the reason of the way build then you start moving in huge rooms each transfer you to the next and you can’t stop even if you are tired. Then there is a next level which will take you into the prehistory where a lot of animals display and explains what is it starting from the earth moving to the ocean. Then next is the stones and minerals which was another woooow. Then next level is to reach into the copala which is different thing to have an eye on whole Prague from the top walking on the glass. It is really worth visit and take your own time don’t rush because you will regret missing it. I recommend keeping 3-4 hrs for this visit.
What a fabulous museum, one of the best after visiting many cities. The building is magnificent and the exhibits are fascinating, you could easily spend at least half a day there, excellent value for money.
This museum is one of the better ones I have been to when on holiday. Lots of interesting exhibits, my favourite had to be the animals from around the world exhibits! Something for everyone and when using the app it was great to get an audio guide of the exhibits!
What a beautiful place, beyond the exhibitions, its architecture, design, everything is incredible. What is remarkable is that you take a tour from natural history to more contemporary eras. There are spaces dedicated to the history of music, costumes, and much more. If you want to know more about Prague and the world, it is necessary to know every corner of this place. Go with time and comfortable footwear, because the tour is quite extensive. If your hotel is not nearby, the subway station leaves you outside this imposing and wonderful place. And there are lockers to store your things and thus walk lighter.
The museum is excellent, it has many rooms and the exhibit is super varied. I hope you set aside about three hours to see it calmly.
Magnificent museum, as much for its architecture as for its exhibits.
The tickets do not work have been scammed by mense60€ paid for nothing
Magnificent museum. Prague is a city rich in architecture, and its museum is no exception. It is a truly splendid building, worthy of a palace. The different rooms take us through the history of the country, civilization, the history of humanity, and its evolution over the centuries, as well as the fauna and flora. Climbing up to the dome offers us an exceptional view of the city.
A place that has taken the concept of a museum to another level. Explore without prejudice and witness history. It appeals to all kinds of people. The stones section is great.
We bought tickets in advance, I would recommend it, because you still queue and wait (2 lines, 1 with tickets, 1 without -> with goes faster). Backpacks, jackets can be dropped off for free below. Everything from the Czech Republic to the Stone Age is there. There is also a café there but we were not there, so I cannot say anything about the prices. The architecture and paintings are really beautiful. My highlight were the animal exhibitions (not alive, of course). mammoth, marine life, insects, etc. You definitely need a lot of time to really see everything, we have 3 hours. Needed and did not read everything that was written everywhere. A big minus was the security at the front of the entrance, highly unfriendly and aggressive/annoyed!
Very large and organized museum, on the first floors there are minerals, natural stones, historical weapons, books etc. .. while on the top floor, where you can access only by elevator, there are relics of the Second World War with a large 360 cinema room where it shows footage of the war.
It came very late confirmation of my entry did not give me time to go to pick up, the time to enter the museum was very specific
Huge museum, the ticket purchased online!! Recommended for a trip to Prague, in the central building there is I show the history up to the Middle Ages but with the purchase of the ticket online there is also the “new building” where you can find the history of the 20th century, experience to do recommended and if you want in the “new building” there is a bistro in which to stop for lunch at a low price but good food!! There are very nice interactive experiences!! Friendly staff in all places, I recommend visiting it if you are in Prague, it takes all morning (10am to 1.30pm), if not longer!!
Great tour, we were very pleased with the arrangements. Reliability and pleasant communication. We recommend that everyone visit.
