Itinerary
One of the best-preserved opera houses in Europe, unchanged since Mozart stood on its stage. Marek tells the story of how Prague and Mozart fell for each other — and why Vienna never quite forgave the city for it.
The beating heart of Prague, and the place where Smetana founded his music school in the 1840s. This is where the Czech National Revival took shape — a movement that used music, language, and art to keep a nation alive under foreign rule. You'll hear Smetana's Vltava here, the piece that became the sound of Czech identity itself.
Home of the Czech Philharmonic, and the stage where Dvořák conducted world premieres. We stop outside to hear how a butcher's son from a small Bohemian village became one of the most celebrated composers in history — and what he left behind in Prague. His New World Symphony plays here, where it belongs.
Six hundred years old, lined with baroque saints, stretching across the Vltava. Here Marek plays Bratříčku zavírej vrátka — Karel Kryl's song written the night Soviet tanks rolled into Prague in 1968. One guitar, one bridge, one song that said everything a nation wasn't allowed to say out loud
In 1980, the night after John Lennon was shot, Praguers came here in the dark to paint his face on the wall and write song lyrics in the stone — while Communist secret police watched from across the square. Marek plays Lennon here. And then Modlitba pro Martu — the song broadcast on Czechoslovak radio the night the Soviet tanks arrived in 1968, and played again twenty years later when the Velvet Revolution finally succeeded. The tour ends here, with the two songs that bookend the most important chapter in Czech modern history.

So much happy energy and gave awesome insights on the musical history of the city!
Marek offers a wonderful and entertaining walking tour through the golden city of Prague. The musical performances were a perfect addition to the historical stories from past days - passionately performed and truly unique - like a private concert in a remarkable venue. I highly recommend Marek’s musical walking tour.
I had a wonderful time on this tour! Exploring Pragues history through music offered a more interactive experience and I felt left a stronger impression. A perfect balance of fun and informative. I would highly recommend for any one no matter how interested or familiar you are with music or history.
This tour was a wonderful hour and a half long walk through the history of Prague. Marek was very passionate and knowledgeable about the subjects and skillfully used music to bring me into the time period he was describing. Not only was the tour beutiful but it was also very interesting and helped me understand modern Czechia through a historical lens. I would recommend the tour if you're looking for a fun and insightful experience.
MAREK IS THE BEST! I went on both of his tours and they were perfect! I learned so much about Prague and got to hear Czech music for the first time! I also use his map everywhere I go and his recommendations never miss. BOOK MAREK AS YOUR PRAGUE GUIDE!!
Marek was so awesome! He gave such an awesome tour of Prague and did a lovely job of telling us about the history of the Czech Republic as well as playing songs! Best tour I’ve been on yet!
This was a very enjoyable and engaging tour! The tour guide, Marek, was VERY knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the history of his city. One of the things I valued about this tour was the "local narrative" that Marek shared about Dvorak. I had done some research about Dvorak's history as it pertains to his journey to the United States for a school assignment. Marek was able to share some additional details about this part of Dvorak's life that were not widely published. This is exactly why I picked this tour. I would definitely recommend this for anyone interested in the history of music (and, to a lesser extent, poltiics) in Czechia.
Marek is a fantastic guide. We like music but didn’t know much about Prague/Czech music and history and Marek brought the history to life with his enthusiasm, knowledge and music. Whether thru the specific recordings he shared of Czech composers throughout the walk or in his own performance with his guitar and singing. This was such a unique and fun tour. We highly recommend.
Marek led us to important locations in the musical world of Prague which might have been otherwise overlooked. His excellent guitar playing and grasp of historic and recent events added up to an insightful and informative experience.
We thought Marek our guide would just play a guitar and tell us some stories. We were blown away! He played and sang Czech folk songs of love, despair, and triumph. We walked to historical locations honouring well known composers and heard snippets of symphonies (via speakers) while standing in the shadows of their statues. Ducking into doorways and sitting beneath ancient trees in ancient parks, we were transported to historical moments that shaped the culture of the Czech people. I won’t spoil it by describing the finale but this tour is 100% worth it.
Marek’s tour was one of the most engaging and memorable experiences I have ever had. The way he was able to not only teach us about landmarks but also incorporate music in a way that tied everything together was incredible. Marek is one of the best people you could hope to have be your tour guide, he works hard to make the tour something for everyone to enjoy and feel connected to. The music he has made apart of this experience makes it all the more special and moving. He tailors the tours to see all the landmark moments while also keeping you away from the crowds of tourists, making this tour feel even more worthwhile. I could only ever highly recommend Marek to be your tour guide!
Traveling with Marek feels like being shown around by a local friend, with the added charm of his live guitar playing Czech folk songs and a few classic masterpieces through his speaker. I was lucky enough to be the only guest that day, turning the experience into a private tour! You’ll discover lots of Prague’s history, of which I particularly love those associated with music. Enjoy a peaceful afternoon stroll completely immersed in music and culture.
If you're looking for a tour that goes beyond the typical sightseeing checklist, you have to book with Marek. As a "guitarist", Marek offers a truly special experience, blending a tour of Prague's Old Town with live music and fascinating stories. What sets him apart is his passion for Czech history and culture. At each stop, he'll play a piece on his guitar or from a speaker, connecting the music directly to the place and its significance. It's an incredibly powerful way to experience the city's past. Marek is also a very open and engaging guide. He shares personal stories that make the tour feel intimate, and he's eager to answer any question you might have. While the tour is fairly short in duration and covers a compact area of the Old Town, it’s the perfect way to get a real feel for the surroundings and a deeper understanding of the city. I highly recommend this tour for anyone who wants more than just photos and facts—it's a journey into the musical heart and soul of Prague.
Prague is beautiful city and with Marek we got to learn about history and Czech music. He played the guitar and sang beautiful Czech songs!
Marek is a fantastic tour guide! He is so friendly and knowledgeable, and the music tour was such a unique way to learn about Czech culture and history with songs from all eras. I couldn’t recommend this tour more!
I enjoyed the tour as it was different from the usual walking tours, the guide Marek took good care of us and made it an enjoyable mix of music, history and sightseeing. He was knowledgeable, funny and considerate. As a musician I was happy to learn more about Prague, composers and life under the Iron Curtain during the Cold War.
Not only were the views amazing, the stories behind them were just as such. The music being so personal and in tune with the tour itself was a good touch too. You can see the passion and hard work Marek has put into this, and it makes the tour that much more enjoyable. I actually did two of his tours days apart :). Thank you Marek, cant wait to see you and Prague again!
Marek's love of Prague and his talents show through on this unique tour. He kept us entertained and shared fascinating local insights you won't get elsewhere.
Marek was so amazing! I love his guitar playing on the music tour. He’s such a kind person and I loved listening to him. We had great conversations during the walk.
I loved this tour so much!! Marek is super knowledgeable about music and Prague in general and this was a fun way to see the city! This wasn’t like a normal tour of Prague, which I really liked. Marek is also very talented at playing guitar and singing. I would recommend this tour to anyone wanting to learn more about Prague history, culture, and music!

What a unique program! Honestly, when I signed up for the tour, I had no idea what a special experience awaited me. A slice of history presented with a single guitar in a way I have never encountered before. Astonishingly familiar and unfamiliar melodies in the original surrounding. I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone who wants to discover a fascinating part of Czech musical heritage!
