Extremely interesting and our guide made the experience informative as well as with a very personal view and with humor. We loved Alice! Having a private tour with Alice made all the difference for a much more interesting tour than group tours.

Itinerary
The Astronomical Clock is one of the main landmarks of Prague. After meeting with our tour guide right under the Clock, you will enter the Jewish Quarter - Josefov.
Josefov, the Jewish Quarter in Prague, is one of the most important Jewish sights in the world because it was not destroyed during the second world war. The Jewish Museum comprises an old Jewish cemetery and several synagogues featuring different aspects of the Jewish heritage: traditions, art, history, etc.
The Maisel synagogue was built in 1592 and it is named after its founder, a philanthropist Mordecai Maisel, who served as the mayor of the Jewish town, sponsored many Jewish organizations, funded the building of a public bathhouse, ritual baths and an almshouse, and donated money to build the Jewish town hall and numerous synagogues.
The Pinkas Synagogue from 1535 is part of the Jewish Museum and serves as a memorial to the nearly 80,000 Jewish victims of holocaust from the Czech lands.
The Old Jewish Cemetery is one of the largest Jewish cemeteries in Europe and one of the world's surviving ancient Jewish burial grounds operating from the 15th century to the late 18th century. Approximately 80.000 residents of the ghetto in Prague were buried in its confines. Since the cemetery could not hold that amount, the tombs are layered on top of each other, at one section reaching 12 layers. Among the prominent local personalities buried here is 16th-century rabbi Judah Loew ben Bezalel. He’s best known for creating a golem or mud figure, which he reportedly summoned to life to seek protection for the local Jewish community against anti-Semitic attacks.
The Klausen synagogue is the biggest synagogue in the Prague Jewish Town. "Klausen" was originally the name given to three smaller buildings from the 16th century that used to be on this site. These buildings included a yeshivah (Talmudic school) that was founded by the famous Rabbi Loew. After the ghetto fire of 1689, the Klausen Synagogue was erected on the site in 1694, in the early Baroque style.
Franz Kafka attended services here. Legend says that Golem, that artificial being made of clay during the 16th century, is hidden in the attic. Built in Gothic Cistercian style during the latter part of the 13th century, the Old-New Synagogue is the oldest building in the Jewish Town and one of Europe’s oldest synagogues still in use. It has been the main synagogue of the Prague Jewish community for more than 700 years.
The Spanish Synagogue is the most recent synagogue in the Prague Jewish Town. Built in 1868 for the local Reform congregation on the site of the 12th-century Altschul, which was the oldest synagogue in the Prague ghetto. It was called the Spanish Synagogue for its impressive Moorish interior design, influenced by the famous Alhambra.
The tour is planned for 2.5 hours, but we can offer you an extra 30 minutes in case of queues at the synagogues due to security measures. You can use this extra time to spend more time in the synagogues or to explore the Old Town and Charles Bridge. As this is a private tour, our guide will tailor the itinerary according to your wishes.

This is a wonderful walking tour through the Jewish Quarter. We visited three synagogues, the cemetery. Our tour was enhanced by our outstanding guide, Gabriella. She was so kind, patient, knowledgeable, and experienced. We were so honored to have her as our guide.. Thank you,Gabriella.
The tour led by Tereza was amazing! Whether you are part of the Jewish faith or not (we were a mixed group on this tour) you will learn about the history of Jews in Prague (both the good and very difficult), see some beautiful historical sites (synagogues, memorial sites, statues), and hear some interesting stories that we never would have become aware of — had we toured the area on our own. Hopefully everyone who visits Prague considers spending a few hours on this tour! We’d recommend Tereza — she is passionate about the Czech Republic and has great respect for the Jewish faith and the history of Judaism in the country.
Gabriela was fabulous. So lovely and so knowledgeable. She made sure we saw everything we needed to see before they closed!
This was the most amazing tour. Our guide, Gabriela, was extremely knowledgeable, kind, passionate and caring. Gabriela walked with us explaining details, answering questions and led us back in time to understand the importance of this history and the impact it had and has to this day on our world.
Our guide, Gabriela , was truly amazing. She escorted us through the entire group of synagogues and the cemetery with expertise rarely seen. On the way we were able to travel on various forms of public transportation and were able to see other important sights in Prague. An excellent value and a great experience.
Honestly absolutely superb! our guide Gabrielle was sooo amazing, kind, extremely knowledgeable, and fabulous!
Excellent guide who clearly cared about her subject. We felt that we came away from the tour with a clear understanding of how the Jewish Quarter evolved.
Ms. Gabriela was warm, embracing, witty, and reassuring (and those were just the first five minutes...) She proceeded to guide us through a fascinating tour of the Old Jewish Quarter, while providing excellent historical context. We highly recommend her to anyone seeking an in-depth experience, while retaining the highly emotional nature of such a visit.
There were just 2 of us on this tour, my wife and myself. The guide was very knowledgable. The synagogues were beautiful and the Jewish cemetery was interesting. The walls of one of the synagogues were covered with the names of all of the Czech victims of the holocaust which really brings to life the enormity and sheer horror of what happened, and the displays of pictures drawn by children in the concentration camps were rightly disturbing. But it cost £166 for two people, and then I had to pay extra for our tickets into the synagogues, only to discover later on the tour that 2 of them are currently closed for renovation, so to be honest, there are much cheaper alternatives in Prague.
she waited quite a while for which was really kind of her! She had so much knowledge about the beautiful synagogues we visited.Highly knowledgeable and patient guide.
Lots of walking. Very interesting history of how the Jewish section evolved based on events before and after WWII. Amazing synagogues. And a wonderful guide to provide lots of historical insight
Janna was an amazing guide. Her pace was perfect and she did not rush through any of the sites. Very knowledgeable. I learned so much
Our guide Gabriela was amazing, we had the most incredible tour, her knowledge was incredible, her humour was lovely and the time flew by so quickly. It’s a 💯 from us
Hannah enabled us to tour Jewish Prague with knowledge and great insights. She was interesting snd thoughtful. She also delivered us to our next Viator tour meeting place. The tou wasjust what we wanted.
Our guide Gabriela was amazing, would highly recommend her to anyone taking this tour. Her knowledge was amazing and she was fabulous company to share some hours with.
This tour was extremely informative and our guide knew a ton about Prague, its Jewish Quarter, and the history of the Jewish People in Prague. My only complaint is that this felt like a 90 minute tour stretched out to be three hours. This would be perfect for larger groups or less-mobile adults -- In three hours we only walked 1.7 miles. There were times where we'd take two steps, stop, and talk about something else. There was no moving and talking at the same time, which led to a very awkward stop-go pacing compared to what I'm used to from city tours. Additionally a lot of information was repeated three or more times. Again, this definitely seemed geared towards larger, more diverse groups where things may need to be said in multiple languages.
Fantastic guide and trip! Learnt so much! So much to see and take in - really worth while 3 hrs! We were really struck but how good the exhibitions were too!
Very enjoyable tour with a knowledgeable guide. The pace was appropriate and I was given sufficient time to learn about the history of the quarter and visit the synagogues and the cemetery.
Our guide Ms Hana met us at our hotel and escorted us to the Jewish Quarters in Prague. She arrived on time, was very knowledgeable about the Jewish Quarters and kept us entertained for 21/2 hours. We learned a lot in a short time. Thank you Viator
Our experience with Private Guided Tours was totally positive. Jay had provided all of the information we needed when we were in the planning stage, including timing and payment information, and sent a reconfirming note the day before our tour with the name of our guide. We had a wonderful tour with Ms. Kathy. She shared information in a way that was easy to understand, without overwhelming us with detail as some guides do, and then answered our questions. We highly recommend the Prague Synagogues and Jewish Quarter tour.
Our guide Kathy was wonderful, I can see why the company said we were lucky to do our tour with her. Really knowledgeable guide who obviously cares a lot about the city and subject matter. We were both very moved by the memorials. Well worth the money, especially for a private tour. My husband said this might be one of the best tours he has ever been on anywhere.
We had a great experience on our private Jewish Quarter tour with Ms. Kathy. She was friendly, very knowledgeable, and thorough in her descriptions of the places we visited. I would definitely recommend the private tour for the personable, one on one experience - had we visited the Jewish Quarter on our own or in a larger group tour I don't think the experience would have been as valuable to us. Ms. Kathy was a great guide and we learned a lot from her!
