The Castle grounds are beautiful but the guided tour was boring. Our guide was Irene, and she did not speak English very well thru her thick Czech accent. Lots of stops and just standing listening to her barely audible voice explain about every brick and stone dating back to the 13th century. It would be much better to keep the tour moving instead of so much standing and listening to non pertinent details. I recommend going solo with an audio guide if you can. That would afford a much more enjoyable experience. Oh and by the way.....the bus just dumps you at the castle. You are on your own to get out of the castle grounds and make your way back to the town square or for the optional boat. This is quite a distance, so be prepared for extensive walking and stair climbing.

Itinerary
Prague Castle is a UNESCO World Heritage Site that is situated atop a hill overlooking the Vltava River. It is one of the largest castle complexes in the world and one of Europe's most iconic landmarks. The sprawling complex is not only the seat of the Czech president, but also a testament to the nation's rich history and cultural heritage. Its various palaces, churches, and gardens offer a captivating journey through time for visitors.
St. Vitus Cathedral is a true Gothic masterpiece located within the Prague Castle complex. It is a breathtaking masterpiece of Gothic architecture, famous for its stained glass windows and towering spires that dominate the city’s skyline. The cathedral has been a symbol of Czech history and culture for centuries, and is now attracting visitors from all around the world to marvel at its intricate design and rich history.
The Old Royal Palace is a true historical gem nestled within the Prague Castle complex. It once served as the seat of Bohemian monarchs and rulers. With its distinct Romanesque and Gothic architectural elements, this centuries-old palace stands as a testament to the enduring legacy of Czech royalty and remains a must-visit attraction for those who want to learn about nation's glorious regal past
St. George's Basilica is a magnificent Romanesque church, situated within the third courtyard of Prague Castle. This remarkable church boasts a rich history dating back over a thousand years, represented in its beautifully preserved medieval interior, making it a cherished architectural and historical treasure in the heart of Prague. The basilica is also home to the tombs of several important Czech figures, including St. Ludmila, the first Czech martyr.
Golden Lane, a charming and picturesque lane tucked away within Prague Castle, is famous for its tiny, colorful houses that once housed castle guards and artisans during the medieval period. One of these houses, number 22, was once home to the famed writer Franz Kafka. Today, the street has been converted into museums and shops, offering visitors a unique glimpse into the past, with each house transformed into a museum or shop.

Knowledgeable and effective guide - thank you. However, take heed of the end of tour information - it is on the blurb, but easy to miss - you are left at the top of the castle hill to make your own way back down into town - two trams to get to the boat trip. A lot of walking and self-organisation required, which some less mobile people would struggle with. The coach bit of it was actually just transport up to the castle, not the tour I expected. Again, perhaps I should have paid more attention when I booked it before arriving, so this is not supposed to be a moan, but hopefully helpful information for other people.
Such an interesting tour! Our guide was just lovely and did a fantastic job!! Really enjoyed it! At end, we were able to explore the shops (great little cafe there if you turn left where you come into the shops). She gave great directions on how to get out of there & get back over to Old Town. But instead of going across first bridge you come to, turn right, walk about 10 minutes & you can get to the Charles Bridge and cross there!
Overall, we found the tour of Prague castle grounds adequate. The guide did not know that the castle was closed when we stood in line, and we had to return after the tour was completed to tour the castle. The boat ride was quite good.
Good value for money , lots of info very easy and well organised trip, we had a great day even with the rain
This tour is only for castle and around area. The guide girls speak too much.. and we watch only few
The 100 Spires City Tours seeing Prague Castle with Lucie although on a very cold rainy day was an interesting experience. Despite the poor weather Lucie battled through the elements to provide interesting facts about the castles history, timed the visit to include the changing of the guard and pointed out many significant features which we would have missed. Very worthwhile if you want to understand an important aspect of Prague history
Worth every penny. The guide was great and very knowledgeable. Everything ran smoothly. The boat trip was very good too. Only two stops on the tram then 5 minutes walk
A bit disorganized in the beginning. I am in a wheelchair and although there were people getting on a small bus, the guide had my husband and I wait, saying another bus is coming that would be for the tour. He was wrong. The guide told some interesting stories and was extremely helpful with the logistics of the wheelchair while in the castle. However there are 2 things- First, the boat for the cruise was quite a distance from the castle. We were left on our own to find our way there. For the cost, there should have been a bus to take us from the castle to the boat. Second, the guide literally abandoned us at the Golden Lane instead of at a train station as advertised. Getting out of Golden Lane was an adventure. We didn't know where we were going and it was difficult to navigate the very irregular cobblestones of the Golden Lane. Once we finally left the castle grounds, we found a taxi and just went back to our hotel, forgoing the river cruise.
Our guide Carol, a 30 year veteran guiding in Prague, overloaded us with nonstop, rapid speak history. Full of dates and names and births and deaths and architects and kings and descendants and battles, etc. It was not interesting. She needed to tell us interesting stories and anecdotes in a brief space. She wanted to talk the entire tour. There were only two of us, and we had to stop her and ask her to summarize and stop giving 10 minute lectures. It really didn’t do any good, and we dismissed her after half the tour.
My son and daughter and I had a great time. Worth it! We're also history lovers and our guide René brought the info all day long - fun time. You'll learn a lot and not have to worry about where to go to see it all.
The guide was knowledgeable, helpful, and cheeky. It was a great tour; be prepared for walking and staying with the group amongst many other visitors. So much to learn about the architecture, rulers, and city's long and interesting history! It was nice that this tour drove us up to castle on a bus (as guide gave us a city overview); definite plus considering the amount of walking to see all the main sights of the huge palace complex, and then walking back to hotel. Would highly recommend, and as a history teacher, I was able to take a defenestration photo op without shame...yay!
Guide was very knowledgeable and we enjoyed the tour. Castle was very grand and was great to hear the history of the architecture and people who lived there. Take good walking shoes (as with most of Europe!)
There were very few of us on the tour so we had a very personalised tour. Our guide, Sofie, was extremely knowledgeable and answered our questions as we drove around the town. We then toured the castle grounds on foot (entrance inside not included in the tour). Collected by the bus we then went on a boat trip, our guide pointed out buildings along the way. Drinks and food can be bought on the boat. We then walked to the Jewish Quarter and ended at the astronomical clock. So much information was shared, excellent value for money.
I thought it was a good price for a knowledgeable guide and bus to Prague Castle. It was very nice to see inside the Old Royal Palace, St. George’s Basilica and St. Vitus Cathedral. It was good to hear all the history provided by our guide. The 1 hour Boat Cruise was a nice addition.
Jana was an excellent guide. The castle tour was enough to give you a feel of the history there, but not overwhelming. The best part was that you didn’t have to do the included River cruise the same day as the walking part. Delayed the River cruise by a day to have nicer weather to sit outside. Exceeded our expectations.
Having such a knowledgeable guide Jana. Being picked up by bus instead of making our own way to the tram as so many other tours do. The bus tour went through fashionable district which was very nice
As it was our first visit to Prague, it was really useful to have the coach take us directly to the castle. As there were only three English speaking travellers, we were allocated our own english speaking tour guide. This then became almost a personal tour and Ava was very informative. We also appreciated the free river cruise and we were able to use that on a different day to the tour. This tour is highly recommended.
- all target points are absolutely overflowing. Even the nice guide can't change that. But it leads you through the masses - Start and bus ride to the exit point a bit hectic
