The biggest issue was not very clear signage as to which way to go for the different areas ( nothing in English) and collecting tickets. Very nice castle and cathedral but pick your time to go round as certain times you can be in a queue for over an hour. Wear comfy shoes. Lots of steps and hilly parts. Gets very very crowded especially around golden lane. More to see up past the castle. Great views over Prague. Make sure you check your ticket allows for ALL entry. Will take a good few hours to go round ( prob full day)

Could not find location of ticket redemption site. When showing address to others at castle, no one could or would help us. Walked for hours in circle on hot day before redeeming tickets. Exhausted we went back to hotel. I think I should receive my money back as adequate information was not given. My daughter and I both have MS degrees in education and traveled extensively.
Although, we initially bought this just to get the castle tickets in advance, we found we really enjoyed Lobkowicz Palace. The art collection is wonderful and the view from their balcony is breathtaking. The audio guide is really well-done. Just enough to explain things without being overwhelming. The auido guide speakers are family members and curators. Beautiful personalized story. Plus it is quiet, uncrowded and airconditioned in the Lobkowicz Palace. To get your Prague castle complex ticket you have to go to Lobkowicz Palace with your voucher. Lobkowicz Palace is next to the old Royal Palace in the Castle Complex. The Prague castle ticket includes multiple sites, the cathedral, an older church, the old Royal Palace and Golden Lane. Cathedral is amazing. Be sure not miss the Golden Lane. It is really interesting with an armour exhibit and tiny historic homes within the castle walls.
we had some difficulty finding where / how to get the Viator tickets turned into tickets acceptable at the entry points.
Castle with cathedral and basilica is nice and the places at 9 AM in the morning empty and beautiful. The Lobkowicz palace well organized but boring, we skipped it. Price is ok and the view in spring lovely.
I was very impressed by the concert and museum.Musicians were fantastic. This is one of the best organised museum I have visited up to now.I liked the audio guide as well. And the staff is polite and helpful.
Great venue- better directions in ticket on where to pick up passes needed. A lot of waiting in the wrong line that could have been avoided.
From fantastic views across the city to amazing gothic architecture well worth the visit. You can easily spend the best part of the day here wandering around without feeling pressured to hurry up!
one of the highlights of our short stay in Prague, talented musicians, lovely location, varied programme of music, the Palace exhibition is small and mostly paintings but very interesting. We had our lunch in the cafe too which was delicious. Great value for money.
Great attraction with spectacular views. The audio guides are a must. Some additional staff for guidances and directions would benefit all. Saw quite a few people queuing without a ticket. The queues do move quite quickly however. Lots of cafes for food
Beautiful palace and castle with a truly magnificent cathedral. We had walked a long way to get to the palace and perhaps should have taken public transport to get us to the foot of the palace as we were very tired by the time we had to climb the steps to the palace. We didn't think the signposting was very good; we didn't know where to pick up our tickets but directions were probably on the email I received about the visit and I didn't have them with me. The whole complex was very interesting and the audio guides very informative. Definitely worth a visit!
It took us close to a half hour to find the meeting place - we asked so many guides and even when we found the right place there was no signage to indicate we had arrived. The self guided tour was fun and the place is lovely.
Great price for the entrance to all the well known attractions in Prague. Although it would have been great if the voucher clearly stated where to exchange voucher into tickets. Easy to use once tickets were given! Definitely recommend the Lobkowicz -palace and all the cathedrals! The statues, glass windows, history of the sites gave you an idea what it was like during that period.
It was good experience and really interesting story with the audiobook. Nice and sympathetic personnel who is working in there.
Beautiful castle and stunning cathedral- well worth the visit. Plan some time for exploring the grounds and surrounding area. All do beautiful. Take your camera for some stunning views!
Nice ticket including entry in a castle museum, Prague Castle, a church from 920 ad and St Vincent’s Cathedral. A reasonable cost and included 2 days entry.
The Lobkowicz Palace was very interesting and informative- the audio guide is one of the best I have experienced. The exhibit of armor and weapons along the Golden Lane was extensive. St. Vitus and St. George were very interesting, but we entered the grounds at the eastern entrance and by the time we got to these features, we realized that a different audio device is required for the churches and Old Palace. It was 3:30pm by the time we arrived at the Information Desk to rent the devices but were denied because they close the shop at 4:00. All information I saw on this site indicated the complex was open until 6:00pm
The museum has a lot of portraits of Lobkowicz ancestors. It has some good Delft porcelain. There is an excellent painting by Peter Breugel the Elder and two fine paintings by Canaletto. Then there are some music manuscripts associated with Handel, Mozart, etc. A room or arms and armour and a few musical instruments, a couple of them quite interesting. That is about it. The painting attributed to Velasquez is clearly a later copy. Some of the engravings appeared to be copies. The hangings that might be eighteenth century Chinese, are pretty clearly European knockoffs. The cafe has cafeteria quality food but amazing views over Prague.
Amazing history! Great views! Enjoyed the changing of the Guard. The noon event included a band and procession! St Vitus Cathedral is incredibly beautiful!
It was raining on our last day in Prague. What to do? Go visit this storied family palace. Bought 2 tickets online which includes an audio guide for $29. You start on the second floor and walk down to the first through different themed rooms with audio featuring the existing family. Lots of portraits detailing how the palace came to be in the 1500s through a mixture of political favor and arranged marriages. This is only one of the Lobkowicz's estates that was confiscated by the Nazis and then the Communists. There's a room featuring paintings of all the estates spread across Bohemia. Back in the 1990's the family got back the palace and artwork as part of restitution. A room is filled with dinnerware from Italian and German origin. Bird room of pictures with actual feathers to be followed by a dog room of paintings. There is an armory and musical room. To cap it off, you can go out on the balcony for a bird's eye view of the river and architecture. We spent 1.5 hours. Then we capped it off at 3 pm at the attached restaurant sitting outside under awnings. Enjoyed the cheddar cheese burger with a glass of Czech red dry wine.
We visited this museum which was part of our standard castle ticket that was free with the Prague Pass. The audio guide was very good so I'd recommend picking it up. There is an eclectic collection of paintings, ceramics, weapons and musical instruments. It was very interesting, and it wasn't very crowded like the rest of the castle complex.
The actual tour was good, however to obtain your ticket was terrible. We had to line up in three different lines to be told that our tickets are available at the other end of the castle at the museum, 15 minute walk. Then we had to return to the first entrance and wait again for the audio guide. In total we waited in lineups for over an hour and a half before we even began our tour. There is no indication on the ticket from Viatour where to pick up the actual ticket, you only receive a voucher.
A lot it history. Story well put together . Very interesting . Good way to spend the day in bad weather .
From trying to redeem the ticket (we asked at several places before we got it right) to then using the tickets, which only allowed us into 4 areas out of 10, we agreed that this was a hideous waste of money. Tripadvisor should be embarrassed that they’re even trying to sell this trip. If you’re thinking of going either buy locally or just walk around the outside of both the palace and castle which is completely free.
The castle did not let you in if you didn't have a printed ticket (voucher was not excepted). Directions were poor , took a while to find where you could collect this. Not clearly stated
The Lobkowicz Palace is one of the most interesting sights and museums in Prague. I decided to visit as an add-on to my visit to Prague Castle and spend almost 2 hours touring the Lobkowicz Palace. The collections of everything from china to musical scores to armor to ancient weapons to artwork are simply amazing, as well as a testament to the Lobkowicz family, which spent decades to reassembling everything in the collections. The magnificent Haymaking painting (Bruegel) and the portrait of Doña Margarita Teresa (Velázquez) alone are well worth the price of admission. A true gem of a museum in Prague.
The Prague Castle complex is vast and is best taken in two days. The Golden Lane, St. Vitus Church, gardens, palace, and old palace are worth seeing. The views from the complex are beautiful. We did have a problem with the ticketing which cost us valuable time. Our vouchers said they could be redeemed at Prague Castle or at the Lobkowicz Palace. Prague Castle would not redeem them so we had to walk the length of the complex to the Lobkowicz Palace to get our tickets. Better instructions would have allowed us to use our time more productively.
I went to visit this museum as part of the ticket for Prague castle and it was one of my favorite locations, second only to Saint Vitus Cathedral. The audio tour was recorded by the owners so it gives it a more personal touch. Lots of history and information in each room. The tour of the actual castle is only 1 – 2 rooms, and the Golden Lane is a shopping area. I thought this experience was much more informative and worth climbing all those steps!
Beautiful castle tour. The rooms are beautiful and the audio guide was very informative. We timed it right and had an early dinner on the terrace cafe with a beautiful view of the city.
I paid for the castle and palace tour. The queue was so long to get into the main cathedral and old royal palace that we had no time to wait and did not get in. Insanely long queue. I’d say don’t book the tour in advance in case this happens or give yourself the full day for this visit and expect to wait during holiday periods. I was really disappointed as I paid for 7 tickets and we never got anything for it. Castle area itself is incredible though so def worth a visit.
It wasn’t obvious how to get our tickets and we didn’t get to see everything. In retrospect, we wouldn’t but through TripAdvisor, we would just go to the castle and buy the tickets at the main entrance. At least then we could have gotten audio guides.
The whole experience of seeing castle and palace and museum was definitely worth the money, so many things to see and the audio was very good
Really interesting and entrance fee very reasonable as included so many buildings. Even without headphones spent over 3 hours there.
Personally I wouldn't pay to see the castle or Cathedral again. The beauty is on the outside 100%. The lanes are very interesting and well recommended.
It started with the lack of information where to exchange the voucher for tickets. It should help to be specific where this could be done. We lost 1 hour searching. 2ndly the price we would have paid locally was 1-2 the price I paid via TripAdvisor.
We didn’t have to wait for the tickets but we first we went to the Castle and they asked us to pick up tickets from the palace. Instructions should be to pick up the tickets from the palace only. Castle office said they didn’t deal with your company
It is very hard to redeem the Viator voucher at the palace. We tried 4 ticket centres and were told that we couldn’t redeem the voucher there. Therefore the voucher was never redeemed. Such a waste of money. Viator should have a stand in the grounds to redeem the tickets.
On the Prague Castle website I asked the hours for the castle and it said they close at 22:00 but that is just the outer area. The castle and other buildings close between 5:00 and 6:00. We arrived around 4:00 but the Uber driver didn’t know where the ticket gate was so we wandered. We found a ticket office but it wasn’t the right ticket office - that happened twice. We stopped to ask, half of the employees were dismissive and half were lovely and helpful. We were allowed to enter the palace 15 minutes before closing but we were not able to see the castle. I’ve been before in the middle of the day without issue. It is worth your time.
For me the best part was being 'guided' around (by audio guide) the Palace by a member of the Lobkowicz family. Hearing his take on events that I'd seen on News bulletins over the last 55 years was so helpful.
.I am sure part of the problem was that i must not have read all of the instructions, but usually when I get tix on viator, i get a voucher or code to use for entrance—avoid the line ticket. This was not the case and the address provided was not sufficient. I waited in a line for the guest services office only to discover that I was at the wrong guest services office and the one I needed was a lengthy block away. Did I mention the cold misty rain?
Right the castle and surrounding beautiful. Getting there not so and spent 2 hours going from pillar to post looking for where to get tickets! This really spoilt the trip as cold and wet. It was very busy and would've been lot more enjoyable if knew where to get tickets from sooner. That being said the castle is beautiful and the 4 places the ticket allows you in are lovely. Just general public are rude and constantly pushing/cutting in front of you no manners
It was a little confusing to find the ticket office, but our names were in the computer. The cathedral was worth it!
We arrived at the place with the tram service which was fantastic throughout our visit and then everything went pear shaped .As we passed though the entrance we couldn’t find the ticket redemption point and when my husband went to ask a staff member that worked at the gallery they were very rude to him and sent him to the wrong guide because they didn’t want to bother helping him. After wondering for an hour my husband went to Lobkowitz palace and finally managed to get the physical tickets that allowed us to visit the attractions. The signposts were only in Chech and when we visited the cathedral we realised that we had to pay extra if we wanted an audio guide,I was furious .The organisation of the place was non existent and the attitude of the staff was absolutely terrible-the only thing they managed to organise was the turnstiles that blocked toilet access unless you paid to use them or you had a receipt of your ticket with the GOLDEN number that allowed you access .Lobkowitz palace was better organized but the staff in reception was again very rude -nobody seems to want to help tourists but they sure want their money ….We had to come back the day after to finish the visits and we didn’t really enjoy visiting the cathedral, they were hardly any signs explaining the exhibits and it felt like we were wondering around aimlessly.Overall the experience was mediocre due to the awful staff and lack of organisation.i wouldn’t go back even though the actual castle was beautiful.
After entering the tourist information office and waiting in line for 15 minutes, we were informed that it was not the correct place to pick up our tickets. We walked for another 10 minutes through the Castle to the Palace area. The instructions were not clear on where to get the tickets. Probably better for visitors to buy your tickets directly at the Castle so you can make a decision on what you would like to visit within the castle complex which is really big. The tourist office did not offer maps, therefore very difficult to work out where everything was.
Purchased "skip the line" entrance ticket on TripAdvisor's Viator website. Arrived at Castle early about 8:30 a.m. to miss the crowds of tourists, only to find that the location to get the ticket voucher didn't open until 10:00. The ticket pick-up location was difficult to find. There was no signage identifying it. We had to ask multiple Palace information docents where it was. None of this info was posted on their Viator webpage. It would have been easier and faster for us to go to the onsite Castle admissions/information office and purchase our entry ticket there. This Viator advance ticket gave us admission to 4 places: (1) Palace central hall - Waited in line 1 hour to see annual display of crown jewels - only 3 items - in huge but unadorned hall. (2) Interior of cathedral - stained glass windows are beautiful but of contemporary design; access to the bell tower was closed. (3) Lobkowicz Museum contained multiple rooms of boring family oil portraits and table settlings; best thing was a collection of musical instruments AND Beethoven's original handwritten musical scores. (4) Golden Lane, along one side of castle wall, was the most interesting thing at the Castle - a short street of tiny, medieval houses with period furnishings; an upper floor displayed medieval weapons and armor; the dungeon displayed torture instruments. Overall, Prague Castle is the fortress wall with entry gate/towers, a huge central court with smaller courtyards radiating off, the cathedral, and an unimpressive garden. The signage telling you what's what and where is AWFUL - like non-existent. There are numerous eating places, if you happen to stumble upon them. But those too have limited signage and are not particularly beckoning. Information provided no maps of the place and I never saw a QR code to describe anything. At no charge, you can walk into the castle courtyard and grounds and experience the exterior and size. For me, that would have been good enough. It's a shame since this if supposedly one of Prague's proud jewels.
We enjoyed visiting the castle. The location was easy to find, but we got confused on how you can pass through the castle area without an entry ticket to the whole area and ended up walking way father than needed.
I ought a voucher/ticket for the Prague castle but when I arrived at the pick up point, no one was there. I sent a email but receive a response they were out of the office. Tried calling but received no answer. Lost money on this tour that did not happen
Horrible coordination on site today. Bought the combo Prague Castle and Lobkowicz Palace. Instead of receiving tickets we received a PDF that would enable us to „redeem tickets from EITHER of two „Redemption points. 1. Prague Castle OR. 2. Lobkowicz Palace. Arriving at Prague Castle we wasted well over an hour waiting in the into line, ticket line trying to determine where our Prague Castle RP was! From “look for ppl with white umbrellas” to “go to Golden lane” it wasn’t till after all this that someone said we could ONLY obtain tickets at Lobkovicz Palace, we could have saved ourselves over an hour.
I am hoping that sharing my experience will help you. Buying this ticket online has absolutely no benefits. Please read the reasons. 1) The entire area is the working offices of the President ( and/or Prime Minister). So it can be closed to the public with short notice. That is why you cannot buy the ticket online from the property. I got an email from Viator the day before I had my voucher that the entire palace was closed to the public due to a state visit. I do not blame Viator for this; they have not been given advance notice for security reasons. Be aware. If that happens, you will not get a refund. You either have to go a day before or a day after. I was lucky that I had a free day the day after and rearranged my plans. If you have a full schedule or are leaving the next day, that may not be possible. 2) The purchase online will not save you any time or money. You still have to stand in line up to exchange your voucher for a ticket. 3) Prague Castle and Lobkowicz Palace are operated separately. I stood in line at the Prague castle to be told they knew nothing about the voucher. They sent me to Lobkowics Palace, which opens an hour later. By the time I got my ticket, Prague Castle, which had opened an hour earlier, had sold lots of tickets, and the lineup everywhere was long. I did a tour of Lobkowicz Palace and had to return their audio. I was told if I wanted the audit for the castle, then I had to stand up in the long line up at the Prague Castle ( where I was in earlier that day) Conclusion: Show up at the Prague castle early ( before 9 am). Buy your ticket and audio and start your day.
A great experience. The palace is full of history and ornate rooms. Well worth the visit. The place seemed very accessible.
