Absolutely fantastic tour! Prague Castle is already an incredible place, but Brandon made the whole experience even better. He was knowledgeable, funny, and full of interesting stories that really brought the history to life. The time flew by, and we enjoyed every minute of it! Honestly, one of the best tours we’ve done in Europe. If you’re visiting Prague, you NEED to book this tour, and if you get Brandon as your guide, you’re in for a treat. Can’t recommend it enough!

Itinerary
Meet your guide in front of The Rudolfinum, a stunning neo-Renaissance building on the banks of the Vltava River, completed in 1884 and named after Crown Prince Rudolf of Austria. Today it serves a dual cultural purpose as home to the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra's Dvořák Hall and the Galerie Rudolfinum, a contemporary art exhibition space, making it one of the city's premier venues for both music and visual art. In front of the Rudolfinum, we meet in Jan Palach Square, named after the Czech student who set himself on fire in 1969 to protest the Soviet-led invasion of Czechoslovakia. It's a quiet, poignant space in the city center that also borders the Faculty of Arts of Charles University, blending remembrance with everyday academic life. From here, we have an iconic view of Prague Castle, and see it from the perspective most people living in the Old Town of Prague would have seen it for hundreds of years. After a short historical background, we make our way to the Charles Bridge.
Cross the amazing Charles Bridge: Step onto Prague's most iconic landmark, a Gothic stone bridge dating back to 1357, commissioned by Emperor Charles IV. As you cross the Vltava River, you'll be flanked by 30 baroque statues depicting saints and patrons, each with its own legend, including the famous bronze plaque of St. John of Nepomuk, said to bring good luck if touched. Your guide will share the bridge's rich history, from its construction using egg-based mortar (according to legend) to its role as a vital trade route connecting Prague's Old Town and Lesser Town. Soak in sweeping views of Prague Castle rising above the rooftops, and watch street artists and musicians add to the lively atmosphere. This is a perfect introduction to Prague's storied past before continuing on to the Castle district.
Together, we enter the largest ancient castle complex in the world, sprawling over 70,000 square meters and towering above the city. Founded in the 9th century, it has served as the seat of Czech kings, Holy Roman Emperors, and today, the President of the Czech Republic. We explore through centuries of history as on the castle grounds, taking in the Gothic grandeur of St. Vitus Cathedral, whose spires dominate Prague's skyline and whose stained-glass windows include a stunning Art Nouveau piece by Alfons Mucha. We'll visit the Old Royal Palace, the Basilica of St. George, and the colorful, fairy-tale-like Golden Lane, once home to castle guards, goldsmiths, and famously, writer Franz Kafka. Your guide will bring the castle's turbulent and fascinating history to life, from royal coronations to the infamous defenestrations that helped spark European wars. This is the true highlight of any visit to Prague.
Descend from the castle into one of Prague's most enchanting neighborhoods, a beautifully preserved district of baroque palaces, cobblestone lanes, and hidden gardens tucked beneath the Castle Hill. Founded in 1257, it's one of the oldest parts of the city and largely escaped the ravages of modern development, giving it an almost fairy-tale atmosphere. Wander past grand aristocratic residences like the Wallenstein Palace, now home to the Czech Senate, and admire the towering dome of St. Nicholas Church, a masterpiece of Prague Baroque architecture. Your guide will point out charming details easily missed on your own, from quirky house signs that once served as addresses to secret courtyards and passageways used by locals for centuries. With its quiet squares, embassy-lined streets, and views back up toward the castle, Malá Strana offers a slower, romantic contrast to the bustle of Old Town, perfect for soaking in Prague's storied charm.

I really enjoyed the tour of Prague — I learned a lot of new information and got to know the city better. We had a great guide, Brandon, who explained the history of this beautiful city in a friendly and interesting way. During the tour, we managed to visit a lot of monuments and historical places that I will never forget :)) Thank you!!!
We had a great day with Lyle. Super informative, the perfect amount of walking and information while giving us time and space to explore after. Would do again
Lyle was a great tour guide. He was patient and knowledgeable and had good communication. We enjoyed our tour
I took this tour with a few friends, and it was the absolute highlight of our trip to Prague. Prague Castle is truly magnificent and our guide, Pavel, made the experience unforgettable. Pavel was outstanding—friendly, kind, and an incredible storyteller. He brought centuries of history to life with fascinating stories and made every stop engaging and easy to follow. The tour was informative without ever feeling overwhelming, and we had plenty of time to explore the castle and its beautiful interiors while learning about the people and events that shaped this incredible place. Even after taking a city tour of Prague, this was the perfect addition and gave us a much deeper appreciation of the city's history and culture. I can't recommend this tour highly enough. If you're visiting Prague, this is an absolute must-do. It was, without a doubt, the best part of our trip.
I’ve joined over 20 sandemans walking tours in the past and almost always enjoyed them. Unfortunately this wasn’t one of them. A) Wrong info - Wrong instructions on Sandemans website to pre-purchase transport ticket (the website also listed the old price making it confusing to ensure I did buy the right one). Considering I rushed to pre-purchase the ticket right before the tour, it was annoying to immediately be told it’s included. B) Tour guide approach to wrong info - When I raised the info on the website, I was dismissed by the guide Lyle who simply complained about how the website is wrong and how he paid marketing fee to Sandemans. Nothing mentioned about reaching out to sandemans to ensure this is fixed for future tours. When I also tried to raise that the price listed on the website was wrong and confusing, he cut me off. I tried to explain 4 times and each time he simply cut me off and refused to let me finish a single sentence. Mind you, the tour hasn’t even begun yet so I wasn’t disrupting the tour. C) Tour guide style - The tour wasn’t the most interesting, the guide had a tendency to simply throw facts at you talking quickly as his guiding style (similar with the free walking tour with the same guide) as if quoting 1000 facts in 5 mins alone was all it took to engage a crowd and impress. I’ve attended many sandemans tours whereby the guide is able to engage, tie themes and main takeaway points and key events together in a cohesive and easy to understand manner. Unfortunately this wasn’t one of them. While the guide was helpful after the tour in directing us out of the castle area, ultimately the tour wasn’t of the standard I have come to expect from Sandemans.
It does not actually include an interior tour. Otherwise, it was interesting and fun. Our guide was helpful and knowledgeable.
We had Brandon as our tour guide and he was amazing! We learned so much about Prague's history and he was extremely knowledgeable and engaging! Highly recommended this tour to anyone that is visiting!
Disappointed in the guide. While he was very nice, he lacked energy and we found him very difficult to understand, he was Engligh speaking but with very strong accent that made it hard to understand much of what was said. Additionally beginning of the tour was stopped in close proximity to nearby fast driving traffic which also contributed to difficulty hearing/understanding. Would have liked to been able to engage and understand more.
Jan was very knowledgeable and super friendly. He made the tour a great experience. Our only disappointment was that when we booked, entry fee to the church was included but when we got there, were told it was an error and should not have been included so we did not get to enter the church. Very disappointed in the tour company but NOT Jan’s fault.
Your was good, considering it was a very wet day...all outdoors no interior tour included.toir guide was friendly and helpful
It was an amazing tour. The tour guide was very smart ´and knowledgeable. He did an excellent job explaining everything to us. I enjoyed seeing all of the historical monuments
There is no entry to anything. I was hugely disappointed with that. For some reason I was lead to believe I would be. PLUS I had to be a tram ticket for us both. In the past, Viator has included everything in their tour (except gratuities/food/fluids)
Lot of history especially on the churches which I found a bit much wasn’t an interest for me.?but the guide paved was really good
Our tour guide was great! I believe her name is Katherine, an Australian woman living in Prague, she was really informative, great fun and both myself and my son loved it.
We had a lovely afternoon touring the castle and Cathedral grounds in Prague with Brandon as our guide. Originally from LA and living here for 11 years, he brought such a charismatic and thoughtful presence to the tour. Brandon was incredibly knowledgeable and made the history of Prague come alive in a way that was both engaging and easy to follow. His passion for the city and its rich heritage really stood out. It was an insightful, enjoyable experience — highly recommended if you want a tour that’s as informative as it is memorable!
The Prague Castle tour was fantastic. Our guide Gaby was amazing, she shared her knowledge of the cultural and historical importance of the city and the architecture of the castle, the cathedral, churches, gardens and other landmarks. There were so many opportunities to take photos with amazing views and beautiful architecture. We also heard some great stories about fires, floods, curses and miracles. Absolute highlight of our visit to Prague and made us feel so much more connected to the history of this beautiful city!!!! Thanks Gaby….😊
I did two tours earlier this week in Prague: the free tour of Prague with Katarina and the castle tour with Lyle. Both were excellent. I learned a lot about the history of Prague and the Czech Republic. The guides were both good storytellers and engaging. A great way to get to know better this beautiful city.
Karl was our tour guide for this and he was great! I highly recommend this tour if you’re looking to see Prague Castle and the surrounding area!
Nice length. Brian was knowledgeable and great at what he does. Got a great overview of the castle's outside as well as the cathedral's interior and exterior.
Brian was so knowledgeable and informative on this tour. He had his iPad to further show us information about the Castle area. We did the tour at 14:30 which we found perfect because it was quieter. Loved the experience!
We did the tour with Pacífico, and since there were 5 of us, it was almost like having a private guide. He was very nice, friendly and explained a lot of things about the castle, the cathedral and the district in general. If we return to Prague we would do a tour with him again to finish earning the points that we missed in his trivia questions!
Karl was our guide through the castle grounds on a beautiful fall day. The information along with history was delivered with all the facts and a few stories to make it very interesting. Our group was only eight people which was a nice size to group and hear all said by guide. Instructions for meeting and ticket purchase was easy. Thank you,
Andrea was a great story teller and ensured we experienced the best views in Prague city. We had an amazing time - thank you.
I believe you cannot lose with what’s known as free (or almost free) walking tours. Indeed to keep you engaged until the end of the tour, the guide must be intelligent, knowledgeable, entertaining and exciting human being - such was our guide Sarah (with an “h”:)). Highly recommend to anyone one who happens to be in Prague for a day, a week, or a month - you will have fun and learn something you did’t know.
Sarah was a fantastic guide. She was lively, engaging, extremely knowledgeable and made the the Prague Castle Walking Tour a most memorable experience for us. I would highly recommend this way of learning about the history of Prague.
American English spoken! Good story telling by guide who was from California but very knowledgeable. This box is unreasonable in requiring 100 characters minimum!!!
This is a great way to start your stay in Prague. About a 3 hour tour gives you a strong base on the history of Prague and some of the key sights. If you are lucky enough to get Ian as your guide, you will learn more than you can imagine and have a bunch of laughs along the way, plus a lot of great tips on how to make your stay as enjoyable as possible.
Like previous reviews, I have also sent several emails and messages to chase a refund but they have all been ignored. We certainly won’t be using this company again.
Sarah was energetic, fun, engaging and very well prepared on the subject. very pleasant afternoon in her company to discover curiosities about Prague, its rulers and the castle.
Ian (Ian Nacimiento) was our guider for the Free Walking Tours (English) in the morning and the castle tour in the afternoon. Even though he is originally from Brazil, he knows the dates and years along with the names of the people in the history. His guidance was very comprehensive, efficient and very informative about the detailed history of Prague. He was very friendly, with clear English and happy to answer any questions including some places to have dine. I would recommend to anyone.
Hands down, the best walking tour I’ve done. We visited the old city, stopped for a beer and all learned a lot. Our guide was a local called Katerina who was full of insight and passion about the history of the city and its people. She was a brilliant story teller and I learned so much from her. The tour itself is free, so you should definitely tip the guides. It was so good I signed up to go straight on another walking tour of the castle that afternoon. Really great way to spend the day. The whole tour takes about 2.5 hours and starts in the old town square.
I did two tours: a free walking one and Prague Castle. Katerina, our guide, was just great: informative, emotional, with great humor. Handled fairly large multi-national groups very well - made sure noone got lost, kept everyone involved, shared her love to the city. Overall, that was a fantastic introduction to the city for me. Thanks for that.
So I had Brandon, and he was a fantastic tour guide. Entertaining and well informed. Always made a point of talking to each member of the group and learning a little about them. The sites along the tour were awesome. I'd definitely recommend it.
We did the Free Prague Walking tour with Andrea. She was fantastic. We started in the Old Town Square and ended in the Jewish Quarter. She was very informative and a great story teller. I would highly recommend using Sandeman. Please be generous with your tips
Fabulous walking tour. Karl our guide, was enthusiastic and knowledgeable. Great experience would highly recommend
We did this tour with Jirka. It was a highlight of our vacation. He was interesting and informative. Great historical details mixed with cultural information and funny comments. I recommend this tour group. Try to get in Jirka's group!
Nicolo was great. Informative but keeps it interesting with humor. He also gives you a map that’s very useful for getting around Prague with do’s/don’t say, good places to eat and visit (along with their prices), etc. Would highly recommend!
We enjoyed our tour with Karel very much. He was very entertaining and informative and the tour included several really interesting stops. The only actual entry in Prague Castle is into part of St. Vitus, but that was fine with us. You also should know that you will still have to queue for the security line. We were there on a vey cold day so that kept it from being a 5 star experience because the tour was primarily outside.
My family did the free walking tour for one activity of our weekend away. Brandon was our tour guide and was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING made the whole day so interesting and fun at the same time. He was very informative and went above and beyond for the group. My family loved it so much we also went on the castle tour with Brandon that evening almost loved it even more! Would highly reccommend this experience to any tourists as it is a fast, fun and easy way to cover lots of ground in a new city!
I took the walking tour with Sarah, one of the tour guides with Sanderman company. Sarah is certainly one of the best out there - being an American, she is great with all the Czech history, is super fun (carries a selfie stick with Charles the IV, so can’t miss her), is very much excited about the stuff she feels and captures the audience’s attention. I would highly recommend for anyone traveling to Prague to take this free walking tour and enjoy your stay much more while appreciating the history of Czech Republic and Prague. Thank you Sarah!!
My family and I did the Prague city free walking tour with Brandon and it was great! Definite highlight of our trip! Don’t let his American accent fool you he definitely knew his stuff about Prague! Brandon was easy to understand, listen too and had a good balance between fun and facts!
Brandon was our tour guide and he did an awesome job! We learned a lot and he answered everyone's questions. He gave great information and added in a few extra funny stories that made the tour even better.
Jeremy was a fantastic tour guide for the Prague Castle tour. He was very knowledgeable about the area and the history of the castle. He showed us all the main sights and was exactly what we were after. The castle itself is absolutely beautiful although it’s freezing this time of year so definitely rug up! We are so glad we did this tour and would definitely recommend it to any one thinking about doing it.
Katerina gave us a good historical insight as well as current day political insight. She was informative and amusing and she even ran over the 3hours. She was very patient even when 2of the group wandered off to get coffee!! Beware if you are traveling in November, the thermometer lies!!! It might say 8 degrees but it should say feels like -3degrees so walking tours can be painfully cold-wrap up!
Our guide was extremely well-informed, patient, and entertaining. This tour should not be missed! It's an excellent activity for your first full day in Prague. Be prepared, however, for massive crowds as word of Prague as a "must visit" city has obviously traveled around the world. We were there 3 years prior in the same month (October) and it wasn't nearly as crowded (or overrun as is now the circumstance).
Nicolo was amazing and so knowledgeable with a great mix of humor and history. I’d recommend him to anyone!
The tour was well-organised and our guide, Katerina, was extremely approachable and friendly. She showed us some amazing places and each was accompanied by a historical anecdote. You do look at the city differently once you have heard a fraction of its history. I strongly recommend this Team, keep it up guys!
We had just landed and after sitting in a plane and bus for many hours, so we were happy to enjoy this 3 hour tour beautifully guided by Ian. You made our first day memorable so we took another tour of the Old City the next day with Karel (a.k.a. the Brad Pitt guide) that was also WOW! Tip: visitors over 70 enjoy FREE public transport.
We loved doing the Prague Castle tour with Andrea. Her deep knowledge, high energy, and empathy kept everyone engaged, entertained, and included. We loved this tour and Andrea. The subject matter was fascinating.
