Our trip with Michal was a 5* experience. Michal is a superb guide in every way. He listens to his clients and offers exactly what they need. The trip was exactly as promised. The lunch in an authentic Czech restaurant was delicious and quite special. His knowledge is limitless. He is friendly and easy going. We couldn’t recommend him and this trip more.

Itinerary
Your private guide and driver will pick you up at your Prague place. After approx. 1h 15min of comfortable drive you start exploring Kutna Hora. You visit the first cathedral in Czechia - Cathedral of Assumption - with almost one meter high golden monstrance from 14th century with non-quantifiable value. Listen to the legend how it survived all the wars till today.
Go down into the crypt and admire world famous Ossuary with bones of 40.000 victims of wars and plague designed in pyramids, coat of arms, chandeliers, etc. Please note it is not allowed to take pictures in the Ossuary due to piety reasons. (Open every day except Nov-Feb - in these months it is closed on Mondays.)
St. Barbara's Cathedral was supposed to compete with the biggest church in Prague - St. Vitus in Prague Castle. Evaluate how well the work of medieval masters fulfilled the task.
Glory of Kutna Hora in medieval time touched the glory of Prague because of silver mines and mints. A tour of the silver mine is optional and requires a reservation in advance (limited spots at each tour). People from this Bohemian silver Klondike followed Prague by inviting the same architects to build cathedral of St. Barbara, second "Charles bridge", Italian Court (Silver mint), etc. Taste a true Bohemian lunch at some local restaurant after walk in the city centre. For games lovers, the tour can be extended through visiting real places from the globally famous Czech game Kingdom Come: Deliverance I & II (Warhorse, 2018 & 2025). You can visit not only Kutna Hora but also Sazava monastery, castle Pirkstejn, village Rataj and more. Some places with exclusive tours.
Learn more about the production of silver coins and see examples of them (optional tour of interiors - not included; open every day except Nov-Feb - in these months it is closed on Mondays). After visiting the Italian Court you will be taken back to Prague (1h 15min) and told all the recommendations and insider tips you want to know + you could be dropped-off anywhere in Prague.

The day trip to Kutna Hora with Michel was the highlight of my sister’s and my trip to Paris and Prague! Michel is so personable and knowledgeable. He turned what initially felt like a ghoulish chapel into a beautiful spiritual experience and visit. The restaurant he took us to for lunch was beautiful and the best meal we had in our trip. My only regret is that I didn’t make plans ahead of time to explore the city of Prague on a walking tour with Michel! He is an extraordinary guide. I would go on any tour he offered!
Spectacular day in Kutna Hora! Michal was a very personable and knowledgeable guide who catered to our interests and preferences. Excellent sights and commentary, with a delicious lunch and an unexpected chance to taste the local wine. Book with Real Prague Tours.
My wife, daughter and I booked took this tour with Piotr. His knowledge of the historical context for all of the sites we visited really brought thme to life. Excellent tour and it was the highlight of our Prague trip.
Peter was great! Knowledgeable, fun, nice, and helpful
Kutna Hora and Ossuary with Mighty Michael Stanislav was truly one of a kind experience. There are tours and guides and then there is Michael! We were transported literally and figuratively from the lobby of our hotel to the majestic county side of Olde World Bohemia. Michael has deep intricate knowledge of the country, town, shoppes, churches and local cuisine. It's not just sight seeing it's sight BEING. The medieval and Renaissance art work architecture and history comes to life through the words and storytelling by Michael. I was positively spellbound by St. Barbara's Cathedral, it's historic art collection as well as interior walls feature remarkably preserved, late-Gothic frescoes that depict the daily secular life of medieval miners and coin minters, in addition to the religious martyrdoms one would typically expect. The vaulted ceiling is gasp worthy a testimony to the wealth, engineering and artistic abilities of Bohemia. Michael turned us on to the exceptionally good local chocolate made by the nuns in various flavors. I will be ordering more for client baskets. The sacred Bone Church was nothing like I imagined. Steeped in folklore, tradition and true honoring of those who have passed; it is a rich tribute to life and death and the legacy we all leave on earth. The well curated local lunch fare far exceeded all expectations. A quaint restaurant and tavern that leads to a darling rose garden with spectacular views of both the magnificent Church of St. James and The stunning architectural triumph; The Corpus Christi Chapel. Complete with its gardens and Kings walk from town. Michael regaled us with the intention and origins of the massive undertaking with iterations over hundreds of years. I absolutely cannot wait to take our next tour with Michael in Vienna! I booked with THE BEST with Winspire and Michael Stanislav a true Czech countryman. 🇨🇿
We had a fantastic experience with Real Prague Tours! Our goal was much different from a typical tour. My great-grandparents emigrated from the Czech Republic to the US, and I wanted to visit my ancestral village of Újezdec to see the home where my family once lived. Real Prague Tours worked with us to create a customized day that exceeded every expectation! Our guide Michal was knowledgeable, personable, and clearly passionate about Czech history and culture. He handled all logistics and helped us navigate the language barrier with ease. Having a local expert made what could have been a complicated trip completely stress-free. The highlight of the day was visiting the tiny village where my ancestors lived. Standing in front of the family property and seeing the area where my family's story began was an unforgettable experience. Without Real Prague Tours, this simply would not have been possible. Throughout the day, we never felt rushed. Michal was well-organized but flexible, allowing us to spend extra time at locations that were especially meaningful. His enthusiasm, professionalism, and willingness to tailor the experience to our interests made all the difference. If you're looking for a personalized tour of Prague or want to explore your Czech family heritage, I recommend Real Prague Tours without hesitation!
Michal is an absolutely fabulous guide! He was timely, flexible, very friendly, looked out for our every concern - we have somewhat complicated food requirements - took us to a lovely restaurant, and was throughout the most interesting guide we have ever had: we wound up learning a huge amount about life in the Czech republic and discussing all sorts of other things as well.
Our guide for our private day trip tour of Kutná Hora, Peter, was awesome! Incredibly knowledgeable about the history of the town, he pointed out stories/facts we wouldn’t have learned otherwise, and we genuinely enjoyed getting to know him over the course of the day. In fact, we enjoyed our tour with Peter so much that we booked a last minute tour with him to Terezín later in our trip. Both tours were highlights of our time in the Czech Republic. If you’re looking for a private tour that feels personal, relaxed, and insightful, we would highly recommend booking with Michal & Peter. Communication was great, the car ride was very comfortable, and we will definitely be reaching back out to them when we come back to visit other areas nearby Prague!
We had an excellent time with Michal. He was prompt when he picked is up at our hotel, even though we had a change in our hotel last minute. He drove us 75 minutes to Kutra Hora from Prague. He was a safe driver, no jerks or sudden moves. He timed everything perfectly to coincide with church openings so there was no wait. His cadence of the tour was exactly what we wanted. He has a wealth of knowledge about everything in the area, feeding us interesting tidbits of information we wouldn't likely know. We learned alot with him as our guide. Snd his English is impecable. He is highly recommended.
Michal was a fantastic guide-very courteous and knowledgeable about every aspect of our excursion. In addition, we also learned more history as we traveled in a nice, luxury SUV. Our lunch was delicious and served at a quaint little restaurant. Highly recommend Michal as a guide!
Peter was an extraordinary guide. Knowledgeable, kind and very thorough. We have done several guided tours around Europe, and this was by far the best.
Michel was a great guide. He is so knowledgeable and full of so much information. He showed us everything we wanted to see and more. He even sent me some spots to check out on our own. We had to change the timeline last minute and he was so flexible with the tour, but was able to still show us everything we wanted to see. Thank you for a great day.
We booked this day trip with Michal last minute when our other guide unfortunately got sick. We were beyond happy with our experience and highly recommend seeing Kutná Hora or any other location with Michal!
Michal was absolutely outstanding!!! If I could give him more stars than 5 I would! Firstly, a very pleasant and kindly man that we enjoyed conversing with greatly! Very knowledgeable and intelligent. Answered every question we had completely. Not only did we learn a great deal about the sites we visited bust also a vast amount on Czech history and present day thinking and many recommendations for back in Prague. Transportation vehicle was very comfortable and clean. Outstanding experience!!
This was an absolutely outstanding tour! Michal is a fantastic tour guide. He met us at our hotel to pick us up, and made everything seamless along the way. Michal has a ton of knowledge about everything Czech and was full of information about Kunta Hora during the tour there…and also was a great source of information about other things for us to do. During the trip to Kunta Hora we toured all the key sites in town. Michal gave us the full story walking us around both churches, the Ossuary, and other great spots in town for viewing. We couldn’t tour the silver mines as they are closed on Monday, but that is an option. Michal also took us to a great place for lunch that was filled with locals off the beaten path of the tourist groups. I highly recommend this trip with Michal, and any other one you see with him. You will not regret it!

From start to finish, this tour to Kutná Hora was absolutely wonderful. We were lucky to have Michal as our guide—he was not only incredibly knowledgeable about the history of the sites, but also warm, respectful, and attentive to every detail. We visited the famous Bone Church, the stunning St. Barbara’s Cathedral, and many other fascinating corners of the town. Each place came to life thanks to Michal’s way of sharing stories and history in such a captivating manner. One of the highlights was when he took us to a small local restaurant, where we enjoyed authentic Czech food in a very welcoming atmosphere—it felt like being part of the community. To make it even more special, Michal surprised us with handmade local chocolates, a thoughtful gesture that made the day truly unforgettable. I can’t recommend this tour enough. Kutná Hora is a magical place on its own, but experiencing it with a guide like Michal makes it something you’ll always carry in your heart.
Wonderful day outside Prague. Host/guide was wonderful. Intelligent, informative, engaging. We learned and enjoyed at the same time. The day was a treat! Thanks you Mikal.
Truly great day out. Michal was incredible to work with and we enjoyed every part of it. His English is perfect, he knew a ton of history but he also gave it to us in such a way as to be both funny and informative without overwhelming. The bone church is one of the most amazing things we’ve ever seen, and the town is really interesting to walk around. Michal took us to his favorite place for lunch and the food was excellent. Really can’t say enough good things about the trip and Michal specifically. If you get a chance to visit Prague, definitely do this tour.
Michal was the BEST tour guide. My husband and I knew nothing about Kutna Hora so it was fabulous to be with someone with such a deep knowledge and love for the history of the area. His stories brought the past to life. We visited the The Sedlec Ossuary (Bone Church), St Barbara's Cathedral, and the town. Even the rainy day could not squash the fabulous time we had. We had a delicious lunch in a local restaurant. The drive from Prague was a little over an hour. It was a beautiful drive filled with fun and interesting conversation. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
This was an exceptional day! Michal is an amazing host and tour guide—most generous and knowledgeable. Highly recommend this as a MUST when you are visiting this area.
Michal was a wonderful tour guide who customized our private tour to meet our individual interests. He was knowledgeable on art, architecture, history, Catholicism, local wine and cuisine. After I shared that I was trying to trace my roots he even helped me learn the process to research my heritage in another city saving me a great deal of time. He speaks flawless English and is a very thoughtful host. Safe and efficient driver. Clean, comfortable, spacious Mercedes van, with A/C and he had bottled water available for us.
I was very disappointed with the way that this trip was handled. It was an expensive trip compared to others offering similar experiences. I chose this because the reviews for Michel were great and the experience advertised that he personally would be giving the trip. So I went ahead and booked. The day before my booking, Michal emailed that Peter would be substituting because he had received another booking. Besides feeling tossed aside, I felt it was bait and switch and the trip was falsely advertised. I saw Michal with 2 young women at the site and it seemed clear why I was thrown over to his associate. I did ask for a partial refund, but was ignored. I feel others should be aware of his shady practices before booking with Michal.
Peter was an amazing guide, host and ambassador to Kutna Hora! We had a deliteful day exploring the town and surrounding areas. Started in Sedlec at the Ossuary (bone chapel) and Cathedral. Then a short drive to see St Barbara's Cathedral, had a lovely lunch as a local Czech restaurant and then a stroll through the town of Kutna Hora. Peter provided the background and historical context about what we were seeing which made the trip very memorable!
we had a lovely time w Peter. He's very knowledgeable. We learned a great deal about the bone church and cathedral. We never felt rushed while exploring the sights. We had a wonderful lunch - food was delicious. We give Peter 5 stars!
Michal, the tour guide, was so informative. His knowledge, personality, and perspective made the tour entertaining, educational, and fun. It's obvious he enjoys what he does. He was also able to customize the tour to what we needed and liked. Highly recommend him. We will definitely hire his service again for another trip when we return next year
While Kutna Hora might be best known for its elaborately decorative ossuary, there's a lot more that the locality has to offer, between stunning views, UNESCO World Heritage sites, immense church pipe organs and tranquility. Our guide Michal made the tour all the more enjoyable with his warm and friendly personality, as well as all the information he had to offer. We also enjoyed the beautiful (and delicious) garden lunch that was part of the tour. Highly recommend this tour - and Michal - for a quietly intriguing and memorable day out of Prague. Well worth it.
Michal was a great tour guide! He picked us up from our hotel and toured us around in a very comfortable van. The tour was wonderful! Michal knew all about the history around the area, cathedral, and bone church. Very easy going and able to cater to our needs within the time limit. Beautiful area and would absolutely come back and book again!
We had a fabulous day with Michal. The day was 5 star from transport, knowledge, lunch and excellent communication. We would highly recommend this tour
Very highly recommend Real Prague Tours. We booked him for a walking tour of Prague and later in our stay for an out of town trip to Kutna Hora. Michal was fantastic!! He was very knowledgeable, friendly, and very responsive to all of our needs, including giving great restaurant and site seeing suggestions for our time in Prague without him. He truly cares about your visit. We travel often and have had very good tours. He was definitely the best tour guide we’ve ever had. Book him.
Michal is a great guide- very knowledgeable and also friendly and interesting. He was very professional and attuned to our needs and wants. His enthusiasm makes his tour even more fun. Kunta Hora is an interesting day trip out of Prague - particularly the Bone Church - something you won’t see anywhere else. I highly recommend Michal.
Michal is a great guide - very knowledgeable, but also friendly and interesting. He is very professional and accommodating to individual needs and wants. It is obvious he loves being a tour guide and his enthusiasm makes the tour more fun. It was nice to get out of the city for a day and Kunta Hora has some interesting sights - most notably the Bone Church, which is truly different from anything else we saw during our trip. I highly recommend Michal as a guide.
We took the Kutna Hora and Cesky Krumlov Tours. We have been privileged to to experience Private Tours through Europe. Touring with Michal of Real Prague Tours was exceptional. educational, and thoroughly enjoyable. Michal had a thorough understanding and knowledge of Czech history, traditions, and Culture. We have been to Prague previously; Michal made this visit exceptional for us. One can't go wrong with Michal.
Michal’s strong expertise in architecture, history and art history enlivened and enriched our trip every step of the way. His adaptability, flexibility and deep knowledge allowed him to pivot in response to our interests and questions. He is pleasant, kind and gracious. We can’t imagine our trip without him. Cannot recommend him highly enough!
Our day with Michel at Kutna Hora was excellent from the moment he picked us up at our apartment until he dropped us back there in the evening. His comprehensive knowledge of history and his easy way of communicating that history to us brought the sights alive. Michel is an exceptional guide and our time here would have been much poorer without his insights, personal anecdotes and smiles.
This tour was so informative and interesting! Michael, was everything you could want in a tour guide: educated, personable, prepared, and fun! We had a great time at the sites, and his choice for the lunch spot was beyond charming, and also delicious! The transportation was comfortable, and he was very accommodating to our needs. I can't say enough good things about this tour!
Had a really nice day. MIchel does several different tours. if we were there for longer, would have been great to look at some of the others.
This was a great trip and well worth the money! My wife and I were in Prague and wanted to do something different and this was it. We have used Viator before for small group/private tours like this and we have never been disappointed. Michal picked us up right on time at our hotel and we drove to Kutna Hora in his clean Mercedes van. We talked with Michal all the way to Kutna Hora (maybe 1.25hrs). Once there, we visited several nearby churches and Michal shared incredible insight and history at each site (other tourist even leaned in to listen to him). His knowledge and ability to highlight important details of the church architecture, history, and local influences on the church and town are the kind of thing that you really only get on this type of tour. The Bone Church itself was very impressive and breathtaking. To our amazement, it was really a respectful act to build the bone church as they did. We then visited two other churches/cathedrals (which were incredible) and then had lunch. We had lunch at a small restaurant in the town of Kutna Hora. The lunch and beer were EXCELLENT and included. We then had a leisurely drive back to our hotel in Prague. What’s great about this trip was the personalization and attention to detail. We were never rushed, pressured, etc. We just had a great time with a great guide. Though you can probably be shuttled in by a bus and quickly left to tour these places on your own, it was a much more impactful and memorable experience to do it this way. Highly recommend!
This was a wonderful tour to Kutná Hora and seeing the town and churches. Michal is very knowledgeable about the history and an excellent guide.
If you want a day trip from Prague and a knowledgeable and friendly guide to you then I cannot recommend this enough. Michal was communicative and helpful about travel plans from the very start. He picked us up for our hotel in a very nice and spacious van. And drove us to Kutna Hora, he took us around the cathedrals, the bone church and to a lovely restaurant for lunch and showed us around the town a little too. He was exceptionally knowledgeable about all the locations and their history and was able to answer all the questions we had. Our only regret is not making this day trip the first thing we did on our holiday so we could have got his advice on what to do in Prague or maybe booked another one of his tours as well.
I'll dive right in and say that our day with Michael was worth every dollar (or Euro, or Koruna!). We got picked up right at our AirBnB, in a super clean and comfortable van for our family of 4. It was a short drive to Kutna Hora with terrific conversation with Michael, who turns out to know a great many things that are interesting to talk about besides bone churches. The time in Kutna Hora was great. We learned far more about the places we visited from Michael than we could have done on our own. For example, the first church we visited (not the bone church) had huge paintings that Michael was able to explain some of the background, how it related to the history of the church and who the major figures were in the painting. He goes way beyond "this is an old church" to help you learn and understand the history behind it and how it fit into the culture of the times. The Bone Church was pretty amazing, as was the church built by the silver miners. Lunch with Michael at one of his favorite restaurants was also terrific. My only regret was not realizing sooner how much Michael would be able to add to our enjoyment of sightseeing in and around Prague. Had I known that I would have booked him for a second day to go through Prague itself. If you have the time and can afford a private tour I highly recommend Michael - you won't be disappointed.
This was an excellent trip. Kutna Hora itself of course is fascinating. The drive to Kutna Hora and back was very comfortable. Michal is an excellent and knowledgeable guide. He really made the day very interesting, covering all the sights, not just the amazing ossuary. Our group ranged from a 14 Yr old to an 80 Yr old. Michal kept the pace of the tour just right for us all. And a delicious included lunch at the end. Heartily recommend this trip.

One of the best trips we have ever taken! Michael is such a pleasant guide and so knowledgeable about the area. He had so many interesting stories of the background of the sights, paintings, and the Czech culture. We will definitely be checking out his other tours when we get back to the Czech Republic!
Michal was great to deal with from day one when he reached out to us the day following our reservation. There were several exchanges between us as we finalized what we personally wanted to see during the day. Michal was flexible and checked with us throughout the day in Kutna Hora about what we wanted to see or do next in our list. Spending the day with him was like catching up with a friend you haven't seen for a while. He is pleasant, professional and a great conversationalist. Thanks Michal!
The trip was first class! The car was spacious and Michal is a safe driver. The bone church and cathedral were high spots on the trip and Michal’s knowledge of local history is excellent. The terrace garden lunch was a highlight with authentic local food and beer in a beautiful hillside garden setting . All round, a succesful and enjoyable excursion !
Michal exceeded all expectations & truly lives up to all these positive reviews! He is kind, knowledgeable, personable, and deeply passionate about the area's history. Not only does he display true expertise, he is laid-back and easy to converse with. I learned so much history from him. Our tour to the gorgeous town of Kutná Hora was incredible, with highlights including the bone church, St. Barbara’s Cathedral, and The Church of the Assumption, all rich with history and fascinating artifacts. If you're in the Prague area, absolutely book this tour!
We chose this tour based on the stellar reviews, and we absolutely made the best decision! Michal is a professional in every sense of the word. We had great communication leading up to the tour, and he picked us up right on time in front of our accommodations. It's clear he is an expert in the areas we visited, and he gave us lots of information that we would never have gotten simply by reading a book or trying to do a tour by ourselves. He made the tour interesting, informative, and often humorous. The lunch was fantastic as well, and it was such an easy trip up and back, with great conversation. We would never have gotten this experience with one of the larger tour groups. Definitely book this tour if you are going to Kutna Hora!
We booked a tour with Michal through Real Prague Tours (not to be confused with similar-sounding companies!) and had an excellent day visiting Kutna Hora. Starting at the serenely beautiful Cathedral of Assumption of Our Lady and John the Baptist, we enjoyed Michal’s vivid and detailed knowledge of the religious significance of each painting and relic. What really made it special for us was Michal’s clear passion for history, and how he was able to make the names of the past - Ludmila, Wenceslas, Hus - come to life as real people whose power and religion had shaped the landscape. We moved on the the famous ossuary, and Michal patiently explained the story behind each element. From the towers in each corner, densely layered with bones and skulls, to the elaborate and quite absurd chandelier, and the osseous coat of arms with a bony carved crow pecking the eyes of a skull. St Barbara’s Church, a very short drive from the ossuary, was a great contrast to the pure lines of the Cathedral - it’s high-Baroque and completely over the top, and Michal guides us round stories shown in the frescos and (newish) windows. Without his knowledge, we wouldn’t have been able to appreciate what we were seeing, as it would have been a sensory overload of black and gold. Through it all, Michal wove in stories about the significance of silver mining to the area, which helped us understand why Kutna Hora has had such a dramatic history. After a local lunch at a lovely restaurant (top-notch beef, dumplings and cranberries though plenty of other options) we ambled down the hill to get a panoramic view of the town, then a comfortable journey back to the city. We highly recommend Michal and this tour - enthusiastic, professional and deeply knowledgeable, you’ll have a wonderful time.
