It was terrible, 1hour 20minutes of my life that I’ll never get back 🤦🏼. My mind cannot comprehend the amount of drugs that the writer/choreographer had taken to come up with this ‘show’ . The only redeeming factor, the five actual dancers had some talent.

Authentic show, must see if you 1st time in Prague. Same like beer musium. No need to know language,it is all pantomime
We came to see "The best of Image" show, which costs apx. USD30 per person. We chose row 10 in the middle which was a good place. The show itself was apx. 60 minutes long, out of which about 30 minutes were silly slapstick sketches by two actors. This appealed only to children in the audience. As for the "Black theater" stuff itself - well, it's repetitive, only somehow appealing and while you can appreciate the talent of the dancers, this is nothing more than a tourist trap, as no locals were in the audience. You can give it a try if you're traveling with children, but otherwise - skip it. No photography is allowed during the show.
Wow! This was a unique show. Highly recommend. The comedy duo and dancers were all excellent. This is not highbrow entertainment --- just simple fun!
We think the negative reviews are unjustified and probably written by people not knowing what to expect, or expecting too much. We are not an officionado of black light theatre but had watched some performances on YouTube so were aware of the variations of the form over time and by different companies. We attended the Abrakadabra show as it fitted in with our schedule. One of the characters in the show came into the audience and did some magic tricks before the show started and this created a nice mood. Although I would say it wasn't "high art" the music, costumes and dance performances were great. The comedy sketches were silly but fun and raised a giggle or two. There was a bit of audience participation and I got the feeling everyone had a nice time. The venue was small and frindly and we had a good experience overall.
This type of black light show is apparently unique to Prague, and we enjoyed the chance to experience it. Ticket prices were reasonable, and although it wasn't high culture, we thought the dancing was impressive and the comedy funny enough. My teenaged son especially loved the humor. We hadn't been sure whether we should try a black light show, but were really happy that we went.
I think the negative reviews are a tad over-dramatic! I attended the Abrakadabra show this week and although I would say that the comedy was silly and predictable (though not so terrible to warrant anyone storming out), the black light dance performances were fantastic. Black light theatre is not an artistic medium I'm familiar with and I was very impressed by the effects that were used- really trippy and magical. I thought the plot could've been worked on a bit to fit the dance parts more neatly into the story because it felt like two different shows in one, but I enjoyed it all the same. The staff at the venue were very polite and helpful. A good experience overall.
Hilarious and creative performances! The venue is small and average, but not in a good way. We saw Afrikania; Fantastic! We laughed a great deal and were impressed by the use of black light.
The black light portion was ok. The comedy was laughably horrible . It was cringe worthy at best. I can’t recommend going to this show
I visited Prague more than 20 years ago and I visited another black theatre that I cannot remember the name. It was a very different experience from everything I had seen thus far and I still remember it to this day. It was a very small theatre, a small production with limited budget but the story behind it, touching Prague’s own history was interesting enough to keep you engaged. This time I decided to take my partner to know the black light theatre and I confess I was fooled by the fact that we purchased the tickets through the national theatre site which lead me to the conclusion that this would be a quality show. I could not be farther from the truth with this assumption. I have been to a zillion different shows, I have worked in the theatre at a point of my life and I have the utmost respect for artists in general. Even so I don’t remember ever leaving a show 30 minutes after it started like I did today. The name of the show is Abracadabra. Everything was beyond bad. Actors are not funny at all, dancers are mediocre to say the least, there is no story at all, moments within the show are really underwhelming and most of the times really tacky. Even if you forget the advent of technology that took place in the little more than 20 years between my first time and today, the potential of this type of theatre is almost limitless with a little bit of creativity. The problem was there was no creativity whatsoever. I left the theatre in absolute disbelief of how incredibly bad was what I had just witnessed. The show I have seen 20 years ago was a lot more interesting in all aspects and there was a moment that, for its beauty in terms of story and use of marionettes made it an unforgettable experience. The show today is something I want to erase from my memory asap. It was that bad. There is no possible excuse for the poor quality and all the other terrible aspects surrounding this very lame excuse of a show. No excuse whatsoever! To call this a tourist trap is a colossal understatement. Paying 26€ per ticket is just ridiculous! I would be furious if I had paid 5€ so you can imagine how I am feeling right now. I have done far better school productions in my teens that would put to absolute shame what I have just seen. Inexcusable!!! My best advice: AVOID IT AT ALL COSTS AND THANK ME LATER!!!
This was a interesting evening with good black light theatricals and some mime comedy in the interim. I would consider this for an alternative evening of entertainment.
This show should be a must for prague visitors. The dances choreographed by Eva, the pantomines and sound and light effects offer an uplifting evening!
We loved this unique combination of dance, acrobatics, mime, music and special effects. The dance/acrobatics part of the show (about half) used black light reactive costumes and was done in the dark - it was incredible and so creative! We saw Afrikana and wished we had time to see another one. Watch the videos to get a sense of what its like.
The show was absolutely mesmerizing, we were all delighted! Both parts - dancing and acrobatics as well as comedy part were perfect. Great fun for the whole family, and we have 2 adults, a kid and a teenager. All of us loved IT!
It is worth it, comfortable theater, different experience, fun, creative, comical. It is worth it. Recommended.
It is a show that combines black theater of lights with fun performances, involving the audience. The quality of the gymnasts/actors who make the theatre is very high and the effects they achieve are spectacular.
I bought tickets of Teatro Negro, with a duration of 1h25. More than half the time, it was 2 comics with kid-friendly jokes. Slightly less than half, more than black theater was something that reminded me of Bahuaus' Triadic Ballet. But of Teatro Negro very very few I have already attended more times to see Teatro Negro and this was a pantomime. What a bad experience
We went to see Abrakadabra with high expectations. Unfortunately the spectacle is mediocre, has little grace and the most spectacular effects are little used. Risk going on your own, but for me, it was a disappointment and I knew little.
The Africa show at IMAGE Black Light Theater is an interesting experience. The combination of dark light, music and movement creates a visually engaging and original Mood. Although simple at some times, the ensemble is harmonious and different from usual, making it a good option for those looking for something artistic and out of the ordinary in Prague.
It's good to rest here after a long hard day. You don't expect to see any high art, wonderful special effects or incredible gymnastic plasticity. It's just a performance with a play of light and shadow, unusual costumes, mesmerizing music, and it's interspersed with performances by two charming comedians. We were on The Best of Image - that's what the vacation schedule allowed us to do. I was on that show for the first time in 2003. Some elements of the presentation have survived since then, but improvements have also been noticeable.
A very nice, cool and varied show! The performance consists not only of the impressive blacklight dances, but also of small "plays" by a comic duo. These two men walked through the audience at the beginning of the show and brought the show to a running whole. They were very interactive with the audience, which made it even funnier! There was a good alternation between the funny bits and the serious blacklight dancing. We thought this was a very special and fun show and would definitely recommend it!
The show is of low quality. The staging seems as if it were in an end-of-term performance of a school. The thread of the script is absurd and at no time is there connection with the audience. The supposed dancers make mistakes... there is nowhere to catch it.
A primitive, very untalented show. The mood came in very sympathetic, but soon it was just shame for the performers. High school club-level dancing, humorous scenes-type pantomime performed by two elderly uncles and an elderly aunt, late-'90s technical effects... Gone in the middle, with a few more spectators.
We came to 3 (with 10 year old child) see the show afrikania) This show is accessible to everyone, it is very funny and wordless so suitable for everyone. 1h30 of magic, Prague specialty
Terrible everything, it has some original Black Theatre, but the rest of the show with the incomprehensible humor, off-kilter, non-script, is deceptive as they sell it to you. NEVER AGAIN! don't go!! there are better.
