Because this was a private experience, I should have spent more time researching Prague so that I could be specific about where we wanted to go. For instance we had already been inside dozens of churches in Europe so weren't too interested in that. The tour leader was quite young. Keep in mind that you will go by a lot of things but you can't actually enter them without a ticket.

Madeline did a wonderful job of showing us around! She is a pleasant and friendly young lady, very knowledgeable! Made sure we enjoyed ourselves and gave us recommendations for lunchtime! Highly recommended!
My family did this tour with one of the WithLocals guide. The guide was 20 minutes late, which wasn't a big deal, but there was no discussion of the rest of our days timetable our how best to accomodate for this. We informed the guide that the group included first time visitors to Prague. The guide walked us to Kampa park and took us up to a view point of the castle and this was pretty much all the three hour tour included. We did not visit Charles Bridge or the old town, which was really disappointing for first time visitors. The guide was not good at communicating a comprehensive or cohesive background of the city or its history. We tightened our itinerary and registered for another walking tour on the next day as this was so bad. The quality of guides here seems unreliable, which is just not something you can risk on a short itinerary. I contacted the company with these concerns and no refund or compensation was offered.
We did a private walking tour of Prague with our guide, Stephen, and it was absolutely fantastic! From start to finish, Stephen brought the city to life with his deep knowledge and passion for Prague’s history and culture. He struck the perfect balance between historical insight and local charm—sharing fun facts, hidden gems, and even personal recommendations that made the city feel more intimate and meaningful. We walked away with a whole new appreciation for Prague. Stephen made the experience feel both educational and personal, and we’d absolutely recommend this tour to anyone wanting to go beyond the tourist spots and truly connect with the city.
We have done lots of walking tours in various places we have visited , as they are a great way to see the city and have things pointed out to you that you may well walk past and not realise. Stephen was a great guy, very informative, friendly and was able to answer all our questions. He was also flexible and changed a bit of the itinerary that we had done the previous day. I would probably suggest that you did the tour on your first day, as it is a great way to get to know the layout of the city and you have time to go back to places if you want to. We did ours on our last full day as we had travelled with a group of friends and wanted to spend time with them and see the city together, so there was a bit of duplication in parts , it even though we had seen some places / things we didn’t realise their significance. I would highly recommend this type of tour, it is private so it was just 2 of us, so much better than trailing around in a big group following an umbrella or flag, we saw lots of groups!
My husband, son and I thoroughly enjoyed the tour! Stephen was amazing!! We saw a variety of areas in the old town and other districts as well as interesting stories regarding history of the city, religion, politics and culture. So much more than just walking on our own. So many hidden gems in the city.
Very extensive and detailed tour of historical sites. Time well spent when you are on a short stay in Prague as it provides all the important sites one would want to visit.
Mesh was a super personable, engaged and passionate guide. Very happy with our experience. There was no rush, lots of information and fun times.
Michal was an exceptional guide with the flexibility to meet us at our hotel and focus on things that we had not previously seen. He was able to answer our questions and provide informative insights about each of the hidden gems that we visited.
I would highly recommend this tour. Our guide did a fantastic job of telling us, the history of the city, from medieval times, all the way through communism. Very interesting. Prepare for a lot of walking. Tip-she gave us the option of walking up the hill to the palace, or taking public transportation. Taking the public transportation is the way to go, trust me. You’ll enjoy this tour
This is the review you wrote: We were so blessed to have had Dana as our personal guide! Dana is passionate about Prague, and equally knowledgeable about the city to deliver an experience that far exceeded our expectations. My wife commented about how Dana was always smiling, and the stories and unique perspectives that only a true local would know kept us captivated for the entire 3+ hours that seemed to fly by. My favorites were the flood prevention wall markers along the river, and the poignant square street plaques noting the homes of Czech holocaust victims. We are deeply grateful for Dana’s guidance during our tour, and the many recommendations that she provided so that we can enjoy the rest of our Prague adventure. Thank you Dana! You are the best.
We had a great time and learned so much from Pavel - very knowledgeable guide. Despite being very tired from our redeye over, he was able to keep up engaged and excited.
Mesh was very knowledgeable. A great friend indeed. He is a journalist, a photographer and clicked lots of photos for us . Showed us the city like no one ever would do . We walked about 10 km during those 3 hrs . Thoroughly enjoyed . A must do . Highly recommended
We enjoyed an excellent tour with Mesh! Don't hesitate to book a tour early in your stay in Prague. Covered fascinating aspects of architecture and history, geared to our interests and time in Prague. Also able to point out spots to eat, movie locations and other interesting Prague tips. Great communication in advance. Our time was well spent; highly recommend.
We had a great walking tour with Mickhail. He took us on a beautiful, although very cold, walk up and around the top of the city through parkland and the Kings's gardens. We covered a lot of ground and learned a lot about life in Prague, history, culture, food, politics - you name it we covered it. He was very knowledgeable and we really enjoyed everything he shared with us. We visited some of the typical spots but also some places we wouldn't have seen. And he showed me some great spots for photos that were ideal. He took us to a wonderful restaurant for a warm drink and suggested several places for us to visit for dinner and drinks in the coming days - all of which we enjoyed very much. Highly recommend this private tour so it can be customized to your individual interests.
Hana was an excellent tour guide. She was very knowledgeable and also lots of fun. We had a great morning unearthing hidden gems and learning lots about the history of Prague. The tour was enjoyable and educational in equal measures. Would highly recommend.
We had a private walking tour with our guide Pavel last week. We had visited many of the old city sites previously, so we asked Pavel to concentrate on the Jewish area and some of the more often overlooked architectural highlights of the city. Pavel has in-depth knowledge of Prague history and as a local, was also able to provide what a day in the life living in Prague is all about. We had a great time and would highly recommend this tour as you can customize what you would like to see.
Lloyd hasn't been doing this too long yet but has lived in Prague long enough to learn a lot about it and have a lot of stories to tell about the neighborhoods we walked through. He pointed out a number of architectural points of interest and we got a nice glimpse of local neighborhood life away from the main tourist areas as well as hitting the main road with the National Museum. At the end he left us at a nice recommended Italian restaurant. Nice morning walking tour of Prague!
The tour guide stood us up, we went to the listed meeting point and waited until 15 minutes after the tour was supposed to start to call the assigned tour guide's cell number (Michal), the guide did not answer. Right after we called the guide's (Michal) cell number we then received a message from the tour operator that the guide would not be able to make it. It seems to me that the guide only notified the tour operator he wasn't showing up after we tried calling him because he hadn't shown up. We received a refund, but very disappointed in how this was handled.
Michal did a great job with our city tour! We not only saw the expected popular sights in Prague but also enjoyed some of the more uncommon (but super interesting) spots! Michal shared many great stories and interesting bits of Prague history along the way and has much enthusiasm for his native country. We also stopped at a delightful cafe and enjoyed delicious treats. Highly recommend!
Mikhail gave my wife and me a fine introduction to this beautiful city, with an excellent workout, as well! It provided a first-class familiarization which came in handy over the next three says. We hit all the expected tourist hotspots like the Old Town Square, the Charles Bridge, the Castle and Mala Strana. Additional special highlights for us included multiple elevated viewpoints for city photos, a memorial to those lost and also those devoured in spirit by forty years of communism (how do you demonstrate this in a sculpture?) and more. Mikhail's English was excellent, and he is a student of history. We appreciated his work so much we bought his lunch; a good deal because he recommended a great hole-in-the-wall restaurant. We ended the day well prepared for the rest of the visit.
Mesh was a wonderful guide, very knowledgeable, with much detail, and clearly liked his adopted city very much.
Hannah was a great guide and very knowledgeable about what we saw. She was very accommodating to us and what we wanted to see. I use a walker and so she also tailored how I got around as well. Very impressed!
Well organized and planned route. Hana is exceptionally knowledgeable about Prague. We highly recommend this 3 hour tour, especially at the beginning of your stay.
It was lovely to meet Hana & we enjoyed an interesting afternoon with her around Prague & visited places we wouldn’t have noticed ourselves
Hana, the guide, is a great person with deep knowledge and very passionate about what she does. I really enjoyed the tour and the things she had shown me. I really recommend her as a guide :).
Excellent tour guide on the important places In Prague. Our guide Mical was so friendly, knowledgeable and flexible. He took us to places in addition to his regular tour itinerary. It’s worth going on this tour. We highly recommend it.
Michal took us for a walk in Prague. Although we already were there for three days, we saw places we never would have found by ourselves. He definately gave us reason to return and explore some more. Also, he is very knowledgable and is a true Praguan who loves the city and his country very much. I can highly recommend Michal!
Wat a nice guy! Arrived before time. Told and showed us a lot of interesting things. Gave us a lot of tips about restaurants etc. Stopped 20 minutes later than he should. A big thumbs up!
Our tour guide is a wealth of knowledge and keeps the entire tour funny and entertaining. It was fun, romantic, and intimate. Guide was kind enough to give us some dining suggestions after the tour too... and they did not disappoint. All in all...we had a blast and are even more in love with each other and the town of Prague after the delightful tour.
Mesh is absolutely wonderful! He's warm, caring and so knowledgeable about the city! He loves this city and it shows! He is also very funny! Do yourself a favor and set up a tour with Mesh!
One of the best tours we have ever taken! Mesh is so sharp, with a great sense of life and humor, and has an intimate knowledge of even the smallest details of Prague (like which elevators and bathrooms are the best). He knows his history inside and out and also coming from a film making background the pictures that he generously takes of you come out fantastic! Such a fun time would do it again in a heartbeat! Thanks MESH!!!
Mesh was really friendly, we arrived a little early but he was already there waiting for us. His knowledge of the city it's history and the sights were great and very interesting and he also gave us lots of good recommendations for places to eat. I would definitely recommend other people choose Mesh as their guide to Prague
Hana was our guide through Prague, we were on a family trip with our five children ranging in age from 17 to 28. She had all of us with wanting more and more information, she captured all of attention and our hearts. Hana was wonderful and an encyclopedia of information. She is so knowlegable and pleasant, she was more than willing to answer all of the abundant questions we had. Our tour went over the time that was set because we enjoyed her so much we just kept asking questions and just wanted to keep our tour going. Thank you Hana for such a marvelous time, we loved you and Prague and hope to go back soon.
Hana was delightful. Her knowledge of Prague and it's history was extensive and appealed to my husband and I but also our teenage daughters ie: knowing and seeing the locations of several movies shot in Prague. Hana took us to all the main tourist traps but knew exactly the way around the crowds, the best spots to get family photos and the best spots to try our some local Prague beer and chimneys. We had such a fab morning, it went very quickly. I'd highly recommend Hana to anyone looking for a fun, unique tour with a local. Thanks Hana.
If you come to Prague you have to book this tour. Hana, our charming guide, gave us the prefect overview of the city with just the right amount of information. It was not tiring or overwhelming, it was just perfect. We were also treated to some fun Czech delicacies along the way. The icing on the cake is that she will take the most beautiful pictures that you will want to frame and keep forever. I cannot recommend this tour highly enough.
We had many physical challenges for seniors up to 88 years old. When one required nitroglycerin, she escorted us back to the hotel, after she stabilized. Jo helped us use public transportation, walking slowly with lots of rest time. Very knowledgeable, easy to understand, accommodating, caring and personable. I would definitely recommend.
For my first time visit to Prague this was an outstanding tour which stretched way beyond its scheduled time allotment. Hana has a fascinating background, is a warm person, and wonderfully knowledgeable bout Prague and Czech history. The four and half hours passed in conversation and enlightenment. We discussed the political situation on both sides of the Atlantic as well as the Mid-East in a frank manner. I also got to see the major monuments and buildings of Prague and was sorry to see this tour end. Can not recommend highly enough.
We had a really enjoyable few hours, which gave us a great start to our first visit to Prague. Hana not only showed us the sights, but gave us a fine understanding of Chech life and culture.
Hana was a fantastic guide. She was able to show us her beautiful city of Prague, explain the history and culture, but also engaging in current culture and lifestyle. She provided us with a real insight into the Czech lifestyle and gave us some tips on what else to see and do whilst visiting. Thank you Hana.
Hana was amazing in every way! She was so patient with us as we were travelling with our baby, and she was so generous with her love! We all really enjoyed the time, the conversations and we just pray that God blesses you and your family!
Dana was a super friendly guide, who tailor made our visit. She took us off the beaten track and we got to visit the city without all the tourists! She was very knowledgeable and responsive. Anyone looking to visit Prague with a local, I would highly recommend booking a tour with Dana:
Michal was most accommodating and knowledgeable. We were a bit late on our arrival as we couldn't get a taxi to the meeting point, but he adjusted quite nicely. The walking tour was very informal and lots of questions were answered, no matter how basic. It was good to do this first upon arrival in Prague to get the scope of the city. We were much better prepared to see the rest of Prague and had gained a bit of knowledge on how to navigate the Trams and Metro. We enjoyed a nice beer at the end, in a quiet place that Michal knew and he walked us to a restaurant that had been recommended to us. Very thorough and pleasant!
Tour guide full of knowledge and super friendly. Showed lots of “ off the track” things. Wear comfortable shoes as a long walk, especially for kids,
This was a good addition to our Prague visit. Mikhail was a great tour guide; very personable, helpful and knowledgeable with insights. The tour is loosely structured, allowing for flexibility, depending on what you may have already seen. This is much more informal vs. informational, like meeting up with an old friend who moved to Prague.
Mesh was more than what I expected. He is very knowledgeable, but most of all good natured and funny! My husband and two brothers (hard to please) were impressed by his knowledge and enjoyed his sense of humor. It happened to be raining really hard that day so our walking tour was a bit slower, and even after our time was up Mesh insisted we continue on so that he could show us everything on his list.We appreciated this, and especially appreciated his restaurant recommendations. You won't be sorry if you select him for a private tour.
We found Jo's walking tour of Prague to be a very helpful introduction to the city. We asked her lots of questions on the way, and Jo was happy and able to give us much useful information about subjects from history to restaurant recommendations. We adjusted some of the itinerary to suit our group of 4. A trip up the Petrin tower (Prague's Eiffel tower) provided the best view of the city below. We all enjoyed and learned much from our Prague experience with Jo.
Wow, Hana was amazing!Great tour! Her English is almost perfect. We never had an issue understanding her.She went at our pace (we had an elderly couple with us)and she is very knowledgeable, not only about the city, she is a very well read person. I can't say enough good things about this tour. Amazing value for our money!
A family friendly guide who adjusted with our pace and was very patient. Was helpful with data and information and covered as much as she could. Stayed extra time with us for us to finish.
There were 6 of us and Jo was wonderfully kind and informative and catered to our needs brilliantly for 3 mornings. What was best was seeing bits of Prague that you don't find out about from the guide books and it really felt as though we were sharing someone's real love for the city. Fantastic command of English, by the way and a warm and very engaging personality. Many, many thanks, Jo. Highly recommended.
