Coming to this part of Europe we felt it was necessary to see the horrors that the Nazis did against people of the Jewish faith and political opponents. Our guide, Martin, was so knowledgeable and passionate which made the tour all the more meaningful. Teenagers should be exposed to a tour such as this so they see first hand the torture, cruelty and the lack of humanity that the Nazis practiced.

Itinerary
Come with us for 5 hours to Terezin; the city which during Second World War served as a Jewish concentration camp. Founded in the late 18th century by Emperor Joseph II. as a fortress to protect The Kingdom of Bohemia. In 1940, the German Gestapo took control of the city and Terezín was turned into a Jewish ghetto. Those who are interested in history of Second World War and the Holocaust can visit with us the Small Fortress Terezín and museums in the Big Fortress.

“You should know before leaving that the excursion does not include any free time for lunch. So I recommand to bring food whit you.
It was informative and relaxed Small group was key Paulina our guide was fabulous Could have had more time in the museum
Be prepared to walk. There is a lot to see and experience on this tour, and you will definitely get your steps in. Our tour guide was excellent - she spoke (at least) Spanish and English fluently and was able to narrate for speakers of both languages together. There are several areas you will hit, and the history is sobering. Not exactly a fun time, but very much an important one.
Tour guide was you and inexperienced. I fell and cut my hands and he did nkt k ow what to do. The shadow tour guide was older and wonderful and really helpful. He walked to far ahead in the tunnels and left the group behind. Not very relatable and disconnected from the arrocoties. On the return the driver decided the traffic was too heavy and he dropped us in the middle of nowhere. We had to find our way back to the hotel. The women second shadow guide who was there to learn was really nice empathetic and helpful. The main tour guide and driver were not at all.
Very informative tour which was very well structured and organised It was very thought provoking in a time of world conflict
Great Tour guide, enjoyed the tour but some of it was sad the driver was a nice man too definitely would recommend it
Been using viatour for years this is my first negative review. Bad and in professional on so many levels. Save your money and go directly to Terezín the guide was excellent!
This is an exceptional tour. Our guide, Martin was very friendly and knowledgeable about the history and current events. During our drive he kept us engaged with historical information as well as fun facts. I would definitely recommend this tour with Martin as your guide.
A lot of walking Get grouped with @ 20-30 teenagers who laugh giggle and joke the during the guided tour Get dropped off 3/4 mile from where you get picked up Vehicle has no air conditioning Will never take another Viator tour Better off taking an uber and guide yourself around
I have a lot of respect for the history here, but I found this particular tour to be lacking. We toured the Small Fortress, but the guide provided very little context or narrative, mostly just stating a single fact before moving on in silence. We actually ended up leaving before the tour concluded. I would recommend visiting Terezín, but perhaps explore other tour options or a self-guided route if you are looking for a more comprehensive understanding of the history.
Very interesting. Our tour guide was excellent, very knowledgable, and engaging. In the fortress itself, our tour guide Martin was also top notch.
We were notified that vehicle would be at our hotel in 10 minutes Guide gave us excellent information about the Terezin on the drive & also pointed out interesting places on our drive Everything promised for tour was done Safe driving also made trip a good experience
I booked this trip to Teresín for the 10th March. It was strait foward to book and I was looking foward to it. I had already gone to another trip with the same company (Kutná Hora) which was fantastic- the trip itself and the guide. However, the Teresín trip was horrendous. There was only me and 2 German ladies. The guide Dana, although made an effort to the job, was quite disappointing but, the worst was the driver who half way to Teresín appeared to fall asleep or something whilst driving and the van swerved to the left almost hitting the metal curb on the left. One of the German lady shouted in fear and asking the driver if he was okay. So did I. He quicly pulled the van direction to the right avoiding hitting the metal curb shouting at her "dont tell me how to dtive" "go out and walk" "go out"..this whilst driving very fast. At this point I tried to calm him down for our own safety telling him that the lady simply asked if he was okay and there was no need fir him to be rude. He didn't engage and we all looked at each other just praying yk get to Teresin safely. The guide was oblivious of all. She didnt say a word to him. I felt sick with the fear. I couldn't concentrate with the tour anymore already thinking of how this dtiver would be on the way back to Prague. The second German lady was crying. It was very unpleasant. And unsafe. In Terezin we were told things which was not followed. Dana, the guide, rushed us in the museum. She looked tired. I highlighted to her that I expected her to intervene when the driver shouted and was rude to us. I asked her if she noticed him driving unsafely and she confirmed that she did. Yet, she didn't ssy anything. Unbelievable! From the museum, which we were rushed off to finish by the guide saying we shouldn't be reading all writtings as there was no time for that and we needed to go to the small fortress which would take 30 min in the van. So we left after 30 minutes for the 2 floors and went back to the van again. The driver was looking very grumpy. It looked like he had had a nap. I again thought how safe the way back would be and debated in my head if I should actually risk or not. Me and the 2 german ladies kept revising the issue and going back to what happened in desbilief. When we arrived in the small fortress (in less than 2 minutes) the guide got off the van and we stayed in thinking the guide was going to do something and we'd continued the 30 min trip to the small fortress. But the driver shouted "out, out" "out please". That made the 3 of us jump. Then the guide said we had arrived. We didnt understand but looked like the guide got the translation wrong or forgot how long it would be. God knows.at this point I just wanted to be back home. P.S. This driver was drinking water from a bottle during the driving in the motorway. Especially aftervthe shouting. To drink from that bottle, he had to tilt his head to almost 90 degrees. I closed my eyes everytime he did that. Perhaps a bottle with a straw would be better so he could keep an eye at the road. He had an energy drink by the panel which he threw on the floor outside the van inside Terezín near the museum. I picked it up. We were rushed off from the small fortress too because the guide Dana said the driver told her he needed to be back in Prague by 3pm latest. She said it was very difficult to comunicate with him. That he was very difficult. I told everyone how wrong and disappointing the experience was. That I never felt so unsafe in a tour fearing for my life because an unresponsible ignorant man with poor emotional control and manners. But, we should not say anything to avoid making him angry as he had the control at the wheels so it was not worthy, but that we must make a complaint asap. All including the guide agreed. We just wanted to be back safely. On the way back it was clear that he was making an effort not to speed up. But he did again especially nearer to Prague. This man is not safe to drive! Please find him and review his driving skills and any health issues before he causes an accident and put other's lives at risk like he did to ours.
The guide seemed bored. Walked ahead of us quite a bit. Was checking her phone and texting. Would not recommend
Our guild was so knowledgeable and kind. Putting so effort into our tour. If you really want to the history and what happened, I would highly recommend this lady
Place is amazing to see but our guide didn't handle the group well. She allowed others in the group to talk constantly translating for the language of that group. Made it difficult to hear.
Really enlightening experience, you get to hear all about the camp and what the reason for its use! It’s a somber experience and you get to understand what it was like for the people that experienced it. A trip into the town afterward to see the ghetto, is also very humbling.
Excellent tour very informative. Learnt alot about the history. Guides knew alot. Alot of information was told.
Martín was a great and engaging tour guide. He picked me up at the exact address I was given (not such an easy task as there were multiple tours leaving from that spot & I was solo). He kept to the schedule, showed us everything to see in Terezin & kept the conversation flowing about everything from current events to favorite authors. An A++ experience all the way around.
Tour done by CA BEST TOUR Praha. Their part of the tour was excellent. We had an inexperienced guide in Terezin and two couples got lost because tour guide didn't count heads. Very somber place. Great eveil done here and in places like it. Brings man's inhumanity to fore
Have change for bathroom and bring your own drinks and snacks if you think you will need them because not much option for that. Great tour packed with so much information.
Really interesting trip and background information. Would have liked to have spent more time in the village of Terezín in addition to the time in the fortress.
Crematorium was not open that day, but guide forgot that. Guide took us through a 500 meter long narrow low, tunnel, not senior friendly. Could not get vouchers, becauseViator’s website would not allow downloads. Seatbelt broken in shuttle van that took you to the bus. Better detailed explanation of this tour should be provided before signing up.
The tour was a winner mainly because it highlighted the horror of past actions in what seems such a banal setting, today.
The guide seemed disinterested and used a monotone the entire way. He mentioned his name once but made no effort to interact with our small group. His English was also difficult to follow. On the return journey he did not make any commentary or even sit in the guide seat until we had to get off. He should have given some guidance at the ghetto museum instead of just leaving us there for an hour. The museum itself was very good and the guide at the small fort was good. Overall pretty disappointed with this company
My husband and I had booked a group tour to Terezin. It ended up being a private tour. We had a driver and a very knowledgeable historian guide. A private comfortable van to take us there and back, and the tickets included for admission to the sites. Once on site, the resident guide took over showing us and telling us everything about the history. A very sad place but of course somewhere that is very important to witness and remember.
We had a wonderful day. Pavlina really knows her subject but I feel she needs to interact more. We were very fortunate to have a small group and she knew the answers to all our qurestions. Because she is probably used to bigger groups, she was rushing at first.
Seeing Terezín is important but not with this company. Our guide Dana was horrible, she read from a script and was not knowledgeable. She could not answer any questions. In addition, I paid for an English tour. They also put Germans on the same bus. The guide read one line in English then repeated it in German, back and forth, back and forth. She also ended every sentence with “you know” and “ya” it was just awful. You could barely understand her. She was more like a caretaker, but sometimes she would just stare into space, or start talking to no one. Thankfully we had a separate English speaking guide at the small fortress but we felt bad for the Germans because our guide was supposed to interpret for them but she was unable to do the job. The whole experience was very disappointing.
Guide was difficult to understand and simply read a script. Many of the guests were dissatisfied but the guide in the prison was fabulous
Our group was a total of six. We were picked up at our hotel and driven to the site. The guide shared information and facts with us during the ride out. We toured both the small fort (the camp) and the large fort (the ghetto). Our guide was very knowledgeable and shared with us history and facts about the fort complex from other historical eras. The majority of the tour focused on the Holocaust as one might expect. We spent about three to 3.5 hours touring the sites and museum. With the drive there and back it’s a five to six hour day.
Our tour guide was fantastic!! While the subject matter was difficult, the guide presented it in a respectful manner while also providing all the details. I would highly recommend this tour.
It was a very emotional, informative day. Sandra did a wonderful job to help us understand Terezine and its history.
Great experience seeing this camp and ghetto. Pickup was smooth and we really enjoyed the whole trip. A very humbling experience.
Excellent tour guide and tour overall. Our guide was very informative and knowledgeable of the history.
the guide was excellent you did learn a lot on this trip it takes about 1 hour to get there but you had plenty of time there would do this again
Very interesting tour of Prague's underground/overground history. Tour guide Maki injected a lot of humour into the excursion and was very well informed.
Superb trip. Well organised and very very informative. I lived all of it. Learned so much on a subject I thought I was aware off
Great option in terms of going with a tour bus, as a tourist, the drive there via public bus would be confusing and very lengthy. Appreciated the pick-up from the hotel, driver was there early . Tour guide in the bus was knowledgeable , however , the translation to Spanish in addition to English was very annoying and long. A constant summary the entire time . This was supposed to be an English tour ! When we got there , there were many groups of people and the bus tour guide kinda left us standing there without any explanation. The tour guide for the actual small fortress was knowledgeable and answered questions , however with the language barrier, it was very hard to understand what she was saying. Supposed to have been English tour, not broken English ! Did not appreciate that because I feel I missed out on a lot of the history and descriptions of the areas we were in. A good tour but needs improvement in these areas.
Extremely well informed guide and courteous polite driver. Would recommend 100%. Easy booking, very efficient. An unforgettable experience
IWhen visiting a place where such terrible things happened, it's hard to say it was "greatl ", of course, but our guide Tony did an excellent job. He was extremely knowledgeable as both a local and with well rounded knowledge of history. The tour was just long enough, and the museum was very good, even if the subject matter is very somber. It was also a small tour of 8, so that was definitely a bonus.
This was an amazing trip. The guide was so knowledgeable. We saw so much history of the Holocaust and learned so much.
The Terezin site was fantastic but what decreased the experience was that the mini bus driver was driving way too fast- 145km/hr in the rain hoing there and 155km on the return. I didn't think I would get out alive until one passenger asked the driver to slow down. I was petrified 😪
The guide was very knowledgeable and professional. I was extremely pleased with this tour. It was an emotional experience, but I learned a lot.
The Tour guide did not introduce himself - I don’t even know his name. When someone spoke up about the bus microphone being muffled he said it was not his fault and when it was fixed after our first stop he unprofessionally accused the two women who complained. A dual language tour is painful which this was….plus, other than the size of Terezín and the 500m underground tunnel - not much to see. The worst tour of my two week vacation.
Katrina was a fantastic tour guide Great knowledge , very informative. Would definitely recommend this trip.
Tour needs to be a full day. Guide was not fit enough for the job and refused to reduce the art museum time that she was interested in to increase time on other things that she kept saying there was no time for. Tour was supposed to end at pick up point but ended nearly 2 km away leaving me to walk back and her response was to shrug her shoulders and walk off
There isn't an easy way to get to Terezin via Prague so an organized tour is a good option. I originally had booked this tour for a Tuesday but on Sunday, was contacted to say that there weren't enough people and could I reschedule for Monday instead. I was thankfully able to accommodate this change. Overall, I wish there was more time in the small fortress and that our tour guide had led us around rather than joining another group. There were four of us and we ended up having to join a tour of Swedish high school kids rather than touring around with our small group which was disappointing. Overall, I highly recommend going to this site as it's so close to Prague, but perhaps not with a tour group.
Hearing the stories about the prisoners experiences in the prison was the most memorable part of my day.
Veronica was my guide and she was very knowledgeable and incredibly friendly. We had plenty of time to take a tour of the small fortress, ghetto, barracks, cemetery, and crematorium. The experience was incredibly humbling and moving. The ride is a short trip from Prague, it goes very quickly. Veronica was also happy to provide recommendations or helpful tips about Prague. The driver was also very good at his job and kept us all safe. I would recommend booking for sure, and am grateful for our wonderful guide!
