Peter did a wonderful job of giving all the history and background needed to fully understand our visit to Terezin.

My fiancé and myself along with a friend decided last minute to join this tour on our final day in Prague. Though the tour seems on the pricier side considering what a bus fare and admission would cost, Petr’s (unsure of spelling, sorry!) knowledge added significant educational value to the journey there and back as well as on-site in Terezin. He was able to answer lots of questions and provide a fulsome history of the fortress and ghetto buildings to the group, which was about 15-20 people I think. It is a somber history tour, but he used humour appropriately too! The small coach bus used for transport appears very new and is extremely clean and comfortable, plus you can leave your belongings on the bus safely during your tours with the driver, Martin. The entire tour lasts 6 hours from pick up to drop off, so pack some snacks and there is a small cafe near the last stop. Wear good walking shoes and bring a raincoat if it might be rainy as parts of the tour are outdoors.
If you are in Prague, this is an experience you must not miss. We were at relatively small group of around 20 - 30 people who were given a history of the camp during the almost one hour bus ride to Terezin. The guide Peter was exceptional in his knowledge of the era and the camp. We walked to the prison compound where the POWs were kept and tortured and a second guide explained the compound and the treatment these prisoners had to face. We then walked to the ghetto where the Jews from Prague and neighboring areas were starved prior to being sent to death camps. There were the original crematorium where the Nazis tried to hide the large number of deaths by pouring the ashes into the nearby river. This was the "model" camp designed by the Nazis for the Red Cross. But everyone who took part in the masquerade and the filming of the camp were murdered in Auschwitch. Like I said - a MUST to see.
This was an excellent tour with a wonderful guide to Terezin. The guide, Peter was very knowledgeable and explained the history of the camp and the era extremely well. He was efficient in numerous languages and translated for those who weren't proficient in English. He personalized the tour with details which made it even more meaningful. Visiting a concentration camp is not a pleasant but very necessary experience for even those with historical background knowledge and Peter made this a very meaningful experience.
Peter our guide was fabulous, so many facts told. Very friendly. Definitely worth going to see this.
Overall, a good visit. Incredibly prompt - exactly noon to 6pm. Very informative. No place for water, minimal bathrooms.
Trip was well organised, on time and the guide was very informative. Negative - the information did advise no drinks or food, however, there was no availability to purchase water, soft drinks at any of the stops. No free time.
Everyone should know about the tragedies to the Jews, so it never happens to anyone again A must see the worst of humanity so the best will only prevail
Our guide to and from Prague has been doing this tour for almost 30 years! His sympathy and emotion as he shared the stories of people who endured such terrible and evil things. The young man who was out guide at Terezin was so informative! Highly recommend! This awful part of history must be visited for all sorts of reasons!
Very powerful experience with knowledgeable empathetic guide. Peter took us beyond the old castle to really make the Terezin experience come alive.
Very emotional but worth doing tour - tour guide was fantastic, very knowledgeable and interesting, bus was clean and on time
Firstly the guide was a wonderful and knowledgeable lady and pitched the information an tour at the right level. It was excellent value for money and I'm glad we did the half day tour, cant fault any part of the tour from collection to drop off.
This is an extremely important site to visit for countless reasons, but avoid the tour provider we used (Premiant). The tour was given in English and another language, which is hard to follow if your guide isn't engaging and is just droning on. Our tour guide's English was subpar and it was hard to understand him, when we "understood" him, his presentation was extremely dull, and when we arrived at the Small Fortress, he neglected to tell us basic logistics with clarity (e.g., that we would tour that site with a local guide -- who was OK -- and what time the bus would leave for the Terrezin Ghetto). He split off with the non-English language group, and he yelled rudely at guests who were late to the bus. This was awful. As far as the Small Fortress site, be sure to wear comfortable shoes, be prepared to walk on uneven surfaces, and even through a tunnel (be mindful if you are tall). After the Small Fortress, you will see the Museum, which explains about life in the Jewish Ghetto, and then the crematorium (closed on Sundays and check on other days). These sites are informative and heart-wrenching, and all who are capable and mobile should visit.
We were incredibly disappointed with the amount of walking required, this was not indicated anywhere on the description but the day totaled near 4 miles. This is a problem because my father walks with a cane and was unable to participate in most of the tour. When we arrived at the grounds, the bus parked and it was a really far walk just to get to the tour. He had to stay behind and wait outside the bus for an hour and a half while we toured. Good thing he stayed behind because the grounds had steep inclines, uneven ground, and we even walked through a dark tunnel system. If you have ANY kind of physical limitation, do NOT do this tour. Then, after the grounds the bus took us to the ghetto museum in town. Another problem, the bus couldn’t pull up outside of the museum to let us out so again we had to park the bus and walk half a mile. Again my father had to stay behind as he couldn’t walk that far. We were allowed time at the museum, then the guide insisted we go to another art museum that wasn’t mentioned in this package that was again a far walk away. By this point the entire group was exhausted and unenthusiastic, many people didn’t even go into the last 2 museums. Everyone just wanted to be home. The guide even wandered off with some people to get ice cream instead of joining the rest of us in the museum. Overall, I found it to be far too much time, it could be half of this if they cut out the last 2 museums. Also, their inability to accommodate my dads disability by pulling the bus up closer to entrances was very disheartening. The guides overall were informative, but not the most interesting to listen to or keep your attention.
Very informative and intense experience. The tour guide was wonderful and shared so much information and answered all questions.
Everything great except no air conditioning in the coach. The guide is knowledgeable and the visit covers several points with good time management.
Do not choose Martin Tour company!! We wanted an English speaking guide-no one on the tour could understand the guides lousy English. So frustrating! And he tree pushed is through so much that we couldn't read any of the postings in the museum. Terezin was good but our guide ruined the experience. Other’s on the tour said he jumped around and was a terrible tour guide as well. Very disappointed and sent a refund request but NEVER heard back. Total waste of $140.00
A superb trip with fantastic guides who were very knowledgeable throughout. All on time, no problems, Terezin was great to experience, to see and to try to understand what happened there. Would suggest people visit to understand this important time in history.
Disorganized, chaotic, frustrating, very difficult to understand English speaker even though it was labeled as an “English speaking” tour. Unexpectedly turned into a walking tour because lack of communication between bus driver and tour guide.
Good tour for the price. The tour's guide had general knowledge. The guide at the small fortress was excellent. We were a little rushed through the museum in the ghetto, but I think that was because they have shorter hours off season. This is a worthwhile place to visit that is real and powerful.
Great experience, both tour guides ( both on bus and in Terezin) were really good, defo recommend ……………………………………………..
We visited TEREZIN today with a guide (please excuse me I didn't remember his name) but he went to architecture school, he is tall with over 50 years. With his 30 years of experience and his incredible mastery of this terrible period, he shared his passion with us. We particularly liked his personality and his commitment to transmitting these events to us. The duty of remembrance takes on its full meaning in this small town. A lot of emotion and a big thank you for his professionalism. From French
It was very educational and good experience for us. The tour was something we could not cover on our own and we highly recommend this tour for anyone interested in learning about history of this period.
Excellent guides, and good content, can’t say you enjoy given the destination and what happened there, but the information was provided with thought and a clear objective of just telling it as it was. We could have done with longer in the museums as there was so much content, others were there with young teens - the tour definitely satisfied the different groups. If we return to the area in future we will try and spend longer.
Was in Prague with my elderly mother and teenage daughter for a few days. I teach History, so know all about this place, but it was my mum who was really desperate to go. It was an informative and enjoyable trip. Peter, the guide, was clearly very knowledgeable and experienced, & I particularly enjoyed his commentary on the way to Terezin as he spoke about the History of Prague as well as pointing out important landmarks from WW2, e.g the location of the assassination of Reinhard Heiydrich. What was slightly disappointing is that the trip did feel quite rushed and rather passive and it wasn’t Peter who took us around the small fortress, it was a member of staff but then Peter repeated some information after that so feel that could have been coordinated better. My mum has a walking stick and the amount of walking with no stops or time for food (the teenager was a bit tired too) would be something to consider, especially since we’d left our hotel at 11am and were not back until 7pm. We had brought lunch with us and snacked on it, but we weren’t sure if we were ‘allowed’ so made it a little awkward. There’s not enough time to do everything of course and it still a worthwhile trip and important historical site to visit , but would just suggest that the layout of the visit is communicated more clearly at the beginning with clear overview of walking expectations etc ( we didn’t know we would be going down a 500 meter long tunnel underground with stairs and uneven ground for example), that there’s more coherent overview between guides & that perhaps a little bit more interaction with individual guests where possible, eg checking for understanding or focusing on one key era. Whilst I already knew a lot my mum and daughter struggled at times to keep up or to understand without understanding being checked & I had to explain or synthesis a lot of what was being told to us.
Loved seeing the memorial and ghetto. Would have preferred more time in ghetto area and a little less at the memorial. The guide talked too much to and from Prague. More precise information without all the rabbit trails and cultural opinions would be easier to digest.
Petr was a fantastic tour guide and easily the most knowledgeable person I've met so far. He made the trip very memorable and meaningful. I wish we'd had more time, and that it was less hot out. Aside from that, 10/10 was easily the highlight of my time in Prague.
Excellent, informative guide who has had a career in tourist guiding and grew up locally. Able to answer all questions with detail. Great timing on tour with fort, cemetery, crematorium, and museum all on the agenda. Packed with information. Heart-wrenching to see the paintings made by the children who were shipped to the extermination camps.
There wasn’t enough time, so we were rushed around 3 venues. The last one we had 20 minutes in a museum, which was pointless. The tour guide was too politically opinionated for my liking, and looking at some of the faces of other guests I was not alone. He was pretty macabre as well. At one point he laughed as he mimed the hanging of a human being. There was zero time for quiet and reflection, which I feel was necessary visiting such a place.
Our guide, Peter, was phenomenal. His passion and knowledge of Terezin and Prague exceeded all expectations. My partner and I felt the tour was educational and we gained a lot from seeing the camp, ghetto, memorial, and museum. Thank you Peter for making this a wonderful experience for us!
Great guides, very well informed, who provided lots of interesting information and were able to answer questions. A very thorough and helpful visit! A small group in a very comfortable bus with an excellent driver.
Absolutely fantastic trip. This is in relation to the history of WW2 war & camps. Our tour guide was exceptional, very knowledgeable and went above and beyond ensuring we had a fantastic experience. I would highly recommend this trip if history interests you
Excellent guides and very full overview of the history and impact of these horrible years of Nazi occupation. This is a unique story, one of Nazi extreme propaganda cover story for Red Cross examination of their treatment of Jews in ‘camps’, among the many terrible examples of the internment and extermination of European Jewish people. Again. Very interesting and well managed tour.
Our guide was very knowledgeable. He was able to relay information easily to the group in English , French and Czech! He answered all questions directly and honestly. Our driver was equipped with gps and traffic info that allowed us to change our route and actually make it to the site! Apparently, there was a huge accident that 3 other groups were caught up in. We were still able to make it, they did not.
The content of the tour was very good, but there was far too much walking in hot weather. My wife has MS and found it extremely challenging…some of the brisk walking for no apparent reason I the ghetto area was far too muck. Perhaps you should indicate in your advertisements what the degree of challenge there is to the tour, due to the amount of walking. We could have spent more time at the museum. Also, you should indicate that there are multiple pick up and drop off locations so that we could have chosen the Republic Square which was closer for us.
The tour took us through all sections of this camp /ghetto and included both guided parts and parts where we could be left to view the exhibits independently and go at our own pace. It was just the right amount of time overall. Highly recommended.
The tour was full of information and we saw a lot of Terezin. The guide through Viatour was really good. The one from Terezin a bit abrupt and rushed.
Our tour guide handed us over to another guide at the small fortress and I couldn’t understand her English and she practically sang her sentences. Not a suitable guide for Terezin i thought. Would have liked to have walked around the old town a little and the museum was more a pictorial museum.
This trip was so informative and a great look back into history. Learned several new things about Terezin that surprised me. The 6.5hr tour was great as you got to see the small fortress, the Jewish ghetto, and a small museum. Having a tour group made transportation easy as well.
Tour Guide was Sophia - she was super kind and knew a ton of information. She spoke many languages and was very accommodating on the tour. I believe this tour was worth the time and the money. See if you can get Sophia - I booked through Viator.
Was a fantastic trip from start to finish. The guide sarah was amazing and so knowledgeable. Th guide at the small Fortress was also very good. She made everything so easy. Real value for money too. A must visit if in prague
Although we met a place of dreadfull memories it was all well planned and taken care by th agency. No Portuguese guide, but we could explore the place with a wanderfull Spanish speaking Philipinne guide.
Was a very interesting trip, I'm so glad we did it. Rosa the guide was brilliant and so knowledgeable as was Helen our bus and Ghetto guide.
Pick up points could be easier to find and options given . Informed to take food and drink as nowhere to purchase. This we did but there was not a dedicated area to eat it in. Had to stand in the rain eating our food!! No food or drink was permitted on mini bus. Guide at camp was very informative and a happy crappie. Mini bus was rather cramped, could have been a little larger. Would not have wished to have used in hot weather. All in all a good interesting visit. Lady guide on bus was friendly and gave out informative details.
We have done the tours to terezin and kutna hora, sophia was really kind and interesting, and we have seen very good places
After we paid for the tour and received confirmation the local tour operator cancelled it later that day ; they told me to contact viator for the refund. I have previously had good experiences with Viator.
We chose this tour because it was slightly shorter than the others and our time in Prague was limited. We were expecting to be rushed around a lot but this was not the case. Our tour guide on the coach spoke really good English and gave a full commentary on the way to the camp. We were handed over to a tour guide at the main camp who also spoke extremely good English and gave us a complete tour. We made far more stops at different places of interest than we expected. The history of the camp and ghetto and also the people imprisoned was dealt with in a really informative manner. I would recommend this tour to anybody. I have visited Auschwitz and can confirm that Terezin is also an unforgettable experience - it adds to the picture of a history that should never be forgotten.
Martin tours were good and we found the tour informative and interesting, however I purchased a book on it and I have now had the opportunity to read it and I feel that we really didn't see very much of it. The whole tour was very, very rushed. We missed out on the women's side, the hospital, the museum within the fortress and only a fleeting visit to the ghetto museum. When at the crematorium we had no chance to read any of the displays as we were whisked through.Overall disappointing as we needed a lot more time, but I would still recommend you to visit.
Although the topic was very heavy, the information provided by Peter our guide and the guide at Terezín was very informative. You really got a good understanding of this camp and how it was different from aushwitz or other concentration camps
We had very informative tour guide today 18 Oct ,blond lady, and we had memorable experience. The tour was in two languages. The guide answer us of all our questions. The bus microphone didn`t work good.
