This is a top notch tour. Leo was extremely knowledgeable and personable. He answered every question and had the entire group participating. Do not miss this one!
Our guide Klara was very nice n very informative. We learnt more about Prague history and going into a bunker was a great experience. Highly recommend. Viator is very easy to deal with too
I so wanted to do this an was not dissapointed learning from tour guide authentic interpretation. The 70s working canteen genuinely enjoyed the kofola . Going into the heavy steel reinforced doors an witnessing all the propaganda having once inside learning an seeing the equipment all explained the chambers an she took photographs of me once underground I crawled underneath Wenceslas street as the house on the street was bombed the hotel which has the underground nuclear bunker an trying the gears manually of the need for air to rid pollutants the rooms Inside the hotel an the listening devices of which somebody could monitor the conversations above the whole experience was amazing one of the best explanation of Vaclav havel an the tribute to the student whom set himself on fire an tragically died as was of protest from his injuries days later.
Very interesting history, told in easy and relatable way. Bunker experience was great. Guide very knowledgeable and answered our many questions. Very impressed that the tour went ahead with just the two of us! Well worth the money.
Klara the guide was amazing, I went to another bunker tour last year which was ok but learnt more on this one and it felt more personal would book again if in Prague!
Klara gave a very informative, personal, and insightful tour. We learned quite a bit and really enjoyed our discussion between stops. Highly recommend!
This tour was excellent! Our guide Clara was a great storyteller & made the already interesting history of Prague & the Czech Republic... even more interesting. The nuclear bunker from the communist/Soviet era was fascinating & definitely had a few surprise perks. Be sure you include this part & the canteen lunch when you book your ticket, if you don't, Be sure you have cash to pay for tge experience. We sipped the canteen lunch but doled out cash for the bunker... It was the best part of the tour.
I had a great time on the tour. My guide, Clara, was super friendly, knowledgeable, and passionate. The bunker was very cool. Lunch at the canteen was a fun experience as well. Clara really made the tour memorable, she was awesome!
A fantastic tour led by Maki. She kept us interested about this intriguing topic and location. Highly recommend this part of Communist history and Maki.
Our guide did a great job of explaining how the communist regime affected everyday life, in addition to the bigger picture political events. The bunker itself was very interesting... lots of great exhibits.
The groups were pretty small and personal. You get to learn a lot about Czechoslovakia during the Cold War and the many hardships the people here endured. I highly recommend our guide Klara as she was great and knowledgeable and really made this trip fun and educational.
Clara was very knowledgeable and also offered ideas for meals etc. The bunker was very interesting. Also the descriptions of the type of life people had in the Communist era was very enlightening. We had no idea how hard it was for the people. We were 6 people with her for the time. When we went to the canteen for lunch we all sat together and she helped us to pick out our meals. Prices were very reasonable and there was a special price for seniors. We never would have had the experience of eating here and eating typical Czech food without her help. Thank you Clara for such an enjoyable time.
Very informative and interesting tour on rise and fall of communism in czeck republic. Guide had a lot of information including personal experiences and presented it in a way that was easy to follow. She also answered all of our questions and was easy to converse with.
An unforgettable journey beneath the streets of Prague—this tour delivers real historical impact. The bunker, complete with authentic Soviet-era artifacts, feels eerie and intimately immersive . Guides like “L” or Stan bring the Cold War past to life with personal stories, wit, and deep insight. Visitors consistently call it a “must‑do,” especially for history buffs: “Definitely a 5‑star experience!” A few note the walking and narrow spaces may challenge those with mobility concerns. Overall, this bunker tour is a fascinating, well‑guided plunge into Prague’s darker history—highly recommend
Klara was AMAZING! She was very knowledgeable. We learned SO much about Czech history. Also super fun getting to try on a gas mask and being "interrogated" by the secret police.
Great tour! Lots of interesting history as well as a very unique nuclear bunker experience. Our guide Leo was phenomenal!
Clara is amazing! The trip was very interesting and professionally explained by her, she made interesting explanations, pointed out cool facts and even explained from personal experience. A hug from Eugenia and Antonio!
The guide was at meeting point in good time. She took us through the history of the communist party in Prague. She made it understandable and interesting. Any questions we asked, she knew the answer to. The bunker was especially good and she made it fun alongside the seriousness of it. She was an exceptional guide.
The three hour tour was a lot of a guide talking and pointing out the buildings used by the communists....the nuclear bunker was amazing. We did have lunch in a canteen which we paid for but was fun and different experience. We started 30 min late because the guide was waiting for other guests to show up that managed to book the wrong date- so this messed up the time at the bunker and we were rushed through it. I would recommend doing the Cold War Museum which includes the nuclear bunker instead and skip the walking tour part- do a general walking tour to see more of the city.
Clara did a fantastic job of the tour. The information provided through the tour was precise and interesting but at the same time not too long winded the nuclear bunker part was especially interesting again well documented by our tour guide.Thoroughly recommended
This tour captured an important part of the Czech Republics history against communism and what that entailed. I found myself standing at the rallies against the oppressors as our guide Lada described in great detail what had happened. Couldn't ask for a better guide as he was open and chattative as we walked between the different important places. Not afraid to speak his mind and answer questions that were thrown at him. If you want to see and hear about a dark part of communism in the Czech Republic than this is the tour for that. 10/10 would recommend.
It was realy interesting tour. Our guide Maxim was full of interesting information. He also advised us about the restaurant. I would suggest this tour to everybody. Very nice experience!
Great tour and the guide was very informative and friendly We all really enjoyed it and would highly recommend 😀
Fantastic guided walk and bunker tour by our guide, Lada. We primarily went on the tour to get access to the nuclear bunker, but I actually enjoyed the background information on communism in the country just as much. From the meeting point at the ticket office near the Old Town Square to the end of the tour was just over 3 hours. The tour was split between an initial walk through the city centre, with stops at relevant points like the former Secret Police HQ and monument to the events of 17/11/1989 at the start of the Velvet Revolution. After that there was a tram ride (8 stops - the guide had tickets) and a short walk to the bunker itself, with the entrance an anonymous metal door in a basketball court, before another tram journey back to Wenceslas Square, where the tour finished. The tour will not be suitable for some people with disabilities, as the bunker is accessed through a double helix staircase (only one in use), with 84 steps down to the bunker (and back up!). The bunker itself is set up as a museum, not just for the bunker but communism. Lada had lived through the communist regime and brought his own experiences to the tour, which really brought it to life. He was so passionate about telling the story of the Czech Republic's past. I knew very little of the specifics of the history of the Czech Republic/ ~Czechoslovakia and Lada highlighted various atrocities that had been conveniently forgotten or not mentioned in mainstream history articles, going right back to the liberation of Prague by the Russians in 1945.
Excellent history lesson for all. The guide was very informative and connected well with the audience, offering up humor at times.
If I could give 6 stars I would. Leo provided an interesting, fun and informative tour with detailed background of the communist era in Czech History. The Bunker is a time capsule of that time.
Professionalism, attention to detail, kindness and availability. He showed photos and details of the story that only people that live there knows. We had lunch in a Cantina very autentic ( very cheap) I suggest this tour with CLARA ! P.s we received also a gift at the end of the tour.
Excellent tour ! It was very informative and fun at the same time, 100% would recommend this to everyone looking to know more about communism !
Fascinating and thought provoking glimpse into all that communism has to offer. Look, learn and let’s not allow Europe to slip backwards.
We were lucky to be in a group of 4 people with our knowledgeable and interesting tour guide Clara. We had been wandering the streets of Prague for a few days already but to hear the history and be shown specific aspects really opened our eyes and enhanced our trip. We loved the route taken as it showed a slightly different side to what most tourists would see as we were in side streets and cuts that we wouldn't have taken as well as seeing the shopping arcades, canteen and Wenceslas Square. We loved the stories shared and really felt like we could feel the history around us. The bunker was fun and interesting to experience.
Great guide, very informative and friendly we learned plenty and enjoyed our tour. Thanks to Clara………………………………………great
This was a brilliant tour. Carla, our guide, was super knowledgeable and we got the social context as well as her historical perspective. It was illuminating! We were fortunate to have fellow tour group members who had also grown up behind the Iron Counter and that was an added bonus. The conversation was excellent - really recommend this tour. The bunker was great, as previous visitors have commented, but Carla brought something extra.
A great addition or add on to a city tour around Prague, very interesting to really learn about the local communism history in depth. The guide was extremely knowledgable. The highlight was a bunker visit at the bottom of a hotel in a well known location, you wouldn’t suspect was there. A very worthwhile tour if you want Prague old and new town history.
One of the best tours we ever took. The guide was really informative and helpful. Even if we were only two, she took the time to explain a lot of interesting things about this country. It was also a pretty personal story for our guide. It was moving. We didn’t know a lot about Czech Republic and this tour is not only about « communism », it’s about the lives of real people, families, and hope about a better future and, unfortunately, a lot of suffering. The bunker visit at the end is also something… the fear and the paranoia was still there. Thanks a lot for this day with you, and we wish the best for you :)
Guide was amazing. There was a problem with Viator, they canceled tour with guide. I have a current paid voucher. Guide worked with us to reschedule tour later. Time in bunker was personal as it was just us & guide.
Amazing tour. Very insightful and Intersting. Being able to go into abadoned bunker was surreal. Any history lovers travelling prague must book this tour.
Our guide Ladislav was fantastic! The tour was informative, interesting and very sobering. It gave us real insight into what life was like for the Czech people during these harsh times. If we could give Ladislav 10 stars we would. Highly recommend this tour!
Leo was our extremely informative guide!!!! We truly enjoyed all his detailed and entertaining information. Leo was very willing to address whatever questions we had. I would recommend this tour if in Prague!
We really enjoyed this tour L was very knowledgeable he did an excellent job as a guide and gave really good detailed history. He interacted well with the small group would definitely recommend this tour
Klara are tour guide was amazing! She was very knowledgeable and friendly. She was passionate about Prague and was able to answer any questions. Highly recommend this tour and Klara.
Loved this specialized tour through Prague's communist history! Kla'ra is a very knowledgable and friendly guide. She touches on all the significant events of the past 100 years and you visit the locations where things happened. She walks you down the special shortcuts and takes you to an authentic Czech canteen for lunch. I would book another tour with Kla'ra in a heartbeat!
Fantastic and interesting tour from start to end with great and enthusiastic Klara that gave us that little extra. Highly recommended, don’t miss it. Great 70 style lunch and interesting bunker visit under Yalta Hotel.
A great tour through Prague’s more recent history. Leo was a brilliant tour guide with a technical knowledge of the bunker and its systems. Super tour!
Our guide, Klara was incredible. Very friendly and knowledgeable and happy to answer all our questions. She shared her own experiences living in communism, which really enriched the tour.
This tour was very interesting and I would definitely recommend this to everyone. Pavel is a very professional guide. It was intriguing to learn about the history of Prague.
Eye opening experience. Didn’t realize how in depth this tour was going to be and couldn’t imagine having not done it now. Lada was our guide and he made the tour what it was. Personal anecdotes, complete knowledge, well timed jokes.
The whole tour was memorable, but the bunker was the best part. So much history; must remember to avoid again.
Really interesting stories from a local who grew up during communist Czechoslovakia. It's not a sightseeing tour per se, but you learn what this country went through in the 40s and 50s through their transition in the early 90s. Worth your time.
A must for all ages to understand the scar of communism on Czech and the countries behind the Iron Curtain. Lada Winters tells the stories from first hand experience. Mr Winters accounts gives you an in depth view of what the Czech people endured and how socialism / communism spread. This is a must see for anyone who watched the Berlin Wall fall in 1989 or is too young to remember. If we don’t remember history - history will repeat itself to horrible consequence - Lada Winters brings the story of the Czech people under Russia to life in a very engaging method. A very serious tour - Highly Recommend! Ask for Lada as your guide - you won’t be disappointed.
