Itinerary
We begin at the top — literally. After arriving early (before the big crowds), we’ll park above the town and start a guided walk through the castle complex (exteriors), taking in sweeping views over the rooftops and the Vltava River bens as we descend gently along a cobbled path. From there, we’ll explore what were once three separate historic towns — Latrán, the Old Town, and the Jewish Quarter. Each has its own unique vibe, and we take the time to enjoy it all. This isn’t a checklist march — we move at a relaxed, easy-going pace, stopping for photos, stories, and local insights. Along the way, we’ll discover hidden gems most tours skip — from tucked-away viewpoints to charming artisan shops and quiet corners that feel miles away from the main square. Physical demand: Easy (well-maintained paths, walking down) 2-2.5 hours ● Guided walk
After the guided walk, you’ll have plenty of free time to enjoy Český Krumlov at your own pace. Whether you feel like sipping coffee by the river, wandering through hidden lanes, browsing local craft shops, taking photos, or simply soaking in the atmosphere, the time is yours. Your guide will happily recommend museums, viewpoints, cafés, scenic walks, or quiet spots based on your interests — without a fixed program or rushing from place to place. You’re free to explore what draws you most in the moment. Please note that access to castle interiors varies by season. The Castle Tower is open year-round (except Mondays), while other interiors are available only on guided tours. If you’re interested, your guide will be happy to advise on the best available options on the day. When it’s time to continue, we’ll meet at a convenient, pre-agreed spot near the center, so you won’t need to walk uphill again. Just relax — we’ll come pick you up by car. Physical demand: Easy to Moderate
We make a special stop in Holašovice — a tiny, beautifully preserved village recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We spend some relaxed time here to stretch our legs and enjoy the calm atmosphere of rural South Bohemia. Your guide introduces the village’s unique layout, history, folk traditions, and everyday life, offering a quiet contrast to the bustle of Český Krumlov. On most visits, we are welcomed to a small private farmstead by a local resident whose family has lived in the village for over 500 years. He shares a modest collection of everyday farm tools and household objects used across generations, along with personal stories of village life. Please note: This private visit is led exclusively by the owner and may occasionally not be available (for example due to illness). If so, we will gladly recommend and help you visit one of the many museums in Český Krumlov instead. Easy – short walk on flat ground

Our driver/guide had a perfect time management. She kept everything on track. Her English was good, but the driving skills and familiarity with the van could be improved. The van was a little bit stuffy because no air in the back. We visited CK on a cold gray raining day. We could have stopped by a few places that offered heating and restrooms. The stop-over of an old farm house was fine. But it really was a little bit too long. I’d rather spend those time in CK castle. The lunch arrangement was okay. The restaurant was not spectacular but acceptable with fire pit and grilled river trouts.
Beautiful day outside Prague. Jana made our time enjoyable. The stroll from the gardens to the castle to the old town was leisurely and informative. Lunch was great. Highly recommend.
Our guide Jana was super friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. We enjoyed the stop at the UNESCO town and museum. Lunch was very tasty!!! Would recommend this tour to anyone.
Pros: Our guide, Jena, was a punctual, safe driver who gave a great lunch recommendation and cracked the front window for air flow when requested. cons: Health Hazard: Out of 7 passengers in an 8-person van, 5 belonged to one group, and 4 of them were heavily coughing and congested every few minutes. With an international flight to catch tomorrow, my husband and I were forced into a high-risk situation—wearing N95 masks all day and keeping our distance, which meant missing out on most of the historical commentary. Sidelined: Since the other group bought the tour + lunch package, Jena spent nearly all her time with them, while we sat separately and felt completely left on our own. Poor Experience: This was a very disappointing experience given the circumstances, and we could not justify leaving a tip. Call to the Tour Company: The company needs to step up with clear safety measures and health policies for enclosed group vans (such as requiring masks for symptomatic travelers or screening prior to boarding). Leaving paying guests helpless in an enclosed, high-risk space with zero recourse or compensation is unacceptable. Word of Advice to Travelers: If you are traveling in a group and know multiple people in your party are sick, please book a private tour rather than taking up an enclosed group van and ruining the day for others. Pack N95 masks just in case.
Jana was our tour guide and she is excellent. She is very friendly , knowledgeable about the history and a great narrator
Jane was so pleasant and knowledgeable. She really knows her history well and we were delighted to be on this private tour with her.
This is a tour not to be missed. Jana was knowledgeable, warm and caring. She took the needs of each traveller into consideration and made the day one to remember. Cesky Krumlov is a hidden gam.
Very informative guide and provided us enough time to walk around and explore. Jana gave great dining and shopping recommendations. We all had a fantastic time!
Jana was an excellent guide who was so generous with her knowledge. The pace was so relaxed and it was an amazing way to get to know another part of the country outside of Prague. Would highly recommend this excursion...well worth the money!
Excellent tour. Jana was a great guide.
Jana was absolutely lovely and super informative throughout the trip. Her lightheartedness and sincerity made the trip 1000 times better. The drive was about two hours but Jana provided snacks, water, and great conversation :)
Ondrej was our guide and driver. We were in great hands and he was exceptionally well informed. Ondrej was continually or our time schedule and gave us a great one-day tour. We would strongly recommend Czech Out Tours!
Had an excellent day tour with Jana as our guide. Started with a pickup at my hotel, and there were 7 of us plus the guide/driver. Very good explanations of what we were seeing, and Jana was very accommodating of the mobility difficulty of one of the participants including starting the tour at the top of the hill behind the castle gardents rather than having to walk up to the gardens. Very good lunch at a local restaurant and plenty of time to wander the picturesque streets of town. The additional stop at Holasovice, a traditional village from the 1800's was an interesting view into a bygone time. Andrej was very easy to work with in scheduling this trip and I would recommend it - not only were the logistics handled but there was a lot of useful information provided as well about what we were seeing and driving past.
We had a good time with Ondrej being our guide/driver. The tour is well planned and we gained lots of insight! A must do tour if you plan to visit Cesky Krumlov!
It was a delightful day! From start to finish we were well cared for. Ondrej was knowledgeable, made our small town village experience so fun, and our time in Czetsky Krumlov very enjoyable. It was such a treat to be in a small group and not a part of the big tour groups we saw!!! We highly recommend booking directly with him. He was very good about communicating logistics and a delight to spend the day with!!!
Andre (Ondřej) was a great guy! Knowledgeable, thoughtful, funny and just a delight to have as our guide. I highly recommend Czeck Out tours.
Amazing day trip from Prague. The tour was well organized and paced really well where nothing felt rushed. Having a small group felt more personal too. Our guide, Jana, was wonderful and provided insight & stories throughout the day. Highly recommend!
This was a most amazing small group tour visiting two UNESCO sites under an excellent guide Ondrej! Pick up was organised from outside the apartment where we were staying, and travel was in a very comfortable modern 9 seater vehicle. Following a comfort stop, we arrived at Holašovice, a quaint and very beautiful village, recognised by UNESCO for its historic heritage. The visit there included a very informative and emotive meeting with a resident who runs a small museum on his smallholding. A remarkable visit with a most amazing elderly gentleman - the 28th generation to live and work the land there! We left with an emotional parting, privileged to have experienced a very special person and place. On to Cesky Krumlov - another UNESCO gem - we were provided with a lovely meal with our host Ondrej, before setting off from the top of the Castle grounds through the gardens, to wind our way down through the exterior of the Castle into the village itself. Throughout, Ondrej was most informative and full of knowledge of the place and its lengthy history and development. Finally, we were left to do our own thing, investigating the village and its undoubted charms, before returning to Prague, and drop-off outside the apartment once again. All in all, it was a tremendous tour to exceptional places and comes highly recommended - one not to miss under Ondrej’s wonderful care and
Our guide/driver was wonderful and provided us with history as well as legends about the residents of Cesky Krumlov, but the van was not comfortable. We had 7 people with very little leg room, and were squished together. We had one person with a cane, and no step available so we juggled seats for her. Two people were coughing, and the closeness made us uncomfortable for such a long ride.
This was honestly one of the best tour experiences I had during my time in the Czech Republic, and I would highly recommend it from beginning to end. The experience started with Ondrej picking us up at our accommodation in Prague. The minivan was very comfortable, clean, and well-equipped, with water, snacks, and Wi-Fi available throughout the journey. Even the drive itself became part of the experience. Ondrej was very friendly and attentive, and he even asked us what kind of music we would like to listen to, which made the journey much more fun and relaxed. We were a small group, and I could really feel the difference compared to a typical large group tour. Ondrej was an incredible guide in Český Krumlov. He introduced us to the Old Town in a very knowledgeable, funny, kind, and engaging way. He is clearly very passionate about what he does, and his professionalism and personality made the experience so much better. I genuinely believe the day would have been completely different without him. He also took us to a fantastic local restaurant for lunch, where we had fresh, high-quality food. Beyond the main historical sights, Ondrej showed us some of his favorite local places and shops for souvenirs, which made the experience feel much more authentic and personal. Holašovice was also a really interesting and enjoyable part of the tour. I absolutely loved visiting the rural museum and hearing the stories about the family who lived there. Learning about the history and everyday life connected to that place gave me a different perspective on Czech culture and history, and I really enjoyed having the opportunity to visit somewhere a little different from the main tourist destinations. Overall, this was an amazing experience from beginning to end. The comfortable transportation, small group, beautiful destinations, great food, and especially the quality of the guiding made this tour truly memorable. If you are looking for a more personal, relaxed, and authentic way to visit Český Krumlov and Holašovice, I definitely recommend this tour. And if you are lucky enough to have Ondrej as your guide, you are in very good hands!
This was the perfect excursion from Prague to see more of Czechia! The tour was well paced -- never felt rushed or like we had too much time. Holašovice was an interesting and unique stop, but of course Český Krumlov was the big highlight. Such a beautiful and picturesque place, we loved having time to walk down from the top and experience amazing views and then free time to explore on our own. Ondřej was so communicative leading up to the trip and he and his tour partner were very knowledgeable and helpful.
Overall a great day. Hotel pick up was great and on time. I was the last one picked up at 8am. Jana was our guide/driver and she was wonderful. Very energetic and knowledgeable. You can tell she really has a passion for Czechia, the culture, and history. She was very considerate of the group and frequently checked on us to make see if we needed bathroom stops or snacks/water. The van is brand new and very clean and comfortable. There is also WiFi in the van and it works! Hard to find on these kind of trips. We had 6 people on the tour. It was nice to have a small group. We first stopped in the small town of Holasovice to visit with a nice old man who has turned his farm into a a bit of a farming history museum. It was nice to hear some history from a local. This was a quick stop. Maybe 30 mins. We then drove another 30 mins to Cesky Krumlov. A beautiful town. Jana walked us through the town and castle and gave us an overview tour for about 45 mins-1 hour, then we had about 3 hours to eat lunch and explore on our own. I did not choose the lunch option, so I wandered and had lunch on my own. A delicious burger spot. Prices are reasonable and there are plenty of cute restaurants and cafes. Overall a great day. Plenty of shops with local goods. Check out the gingerbread shop, Cesky Pernik! It was so good! And they have the most beautiful handmade gingerbread. The drive back to Prague took a little over 2 hours. Unfortunately it took 1.5 hours to drop everyone off at their hotels, and I was last. Rush hour evening traffic took the longest. I wish I could have got out right when we got back in Prague. We were 5 mins from my hotel, but drove out of the way to drop everyone first. Keep an eye on where you are on the map. You might be able to get out sooner and walk faster than waiting through rush hour, bumper to bumper traffic.
My two boys (ages 12 and 15) and I loved this tour. Ondřej (our tour guide) messaged us the night before with details about when he'd be picking us up, and then when traffic was heavier than usual the next morning he texted to let us know he was running a little behind. There were 3 other people on our tour with us - the perfect size. Ondřej managed to get us all talking and made sure we all knew a little bit about each other, which made it that much more enjoyable (and my boys loved that the van had WiFi). Cesky Krumlov is beautiful and we enjoyed learning about the history and the buildings as we wandered through at an easy pace. One piece of advice: book the lunch option. The meal was absolutely delicious - we all loved it. After the tour we had time for shopping and snacks, and my 12 year old got to make a necklace with the blacksmith (thank you again to our guide who brought us to meet the blacksmith after learning about my son's interests. You were right, he loved it!) We also visited the little village of Holašovice and met a local resident. This was a surprise hit with my boys as they both said multiple times after our trip how much they enjoyed meeting him. We had such a wonderful time; our only regret was we didn't have time to book another tour with Ondřej.
Exceptionally well executed. Great pre-trip communications. On time pick up and drop off at our AirBnB. Jana was the perfect guide…outstanding historical knowledge, personable, patient, kind, great recommendations. I would highly recommend this tour operator. PLEASE don’t forget to tip (provide gratuity) to your guide. They earn it.
It was very enjoyable, good company within the group and an easy going informative guide! Jana took us to many amazing locations and I highly recommend
We had such a wonderful experience with Ondrej! He was incredibly accommodating, patient, and thoughtful with our entire family. Traveling with a larger group and different ages can be challenging, but Ondrej handled everything with such ease, flexibility, and understanding. He was knowledgeable, friendly, and genuinely invested in making sure everyone was comfortable and enjoying the experience. He never made us feel rushed and was incredibly patient with all of our questions (even the kids!) and requests. His warmth and willingness to accommodate our family made the entire experience so much more enjoyable. We’re truly grateful to Ondrej for making our trip memorable. He went above and beyond, and we would absolutely recommend him to anyone looking for a knowledgeable, kind, and exceptionally accommodating guide!

Excellent experience. Wonderful and knowledgeable tour guide that knows some secret areas to explore, including free bathrooms. Just the right amount of breaks.
We booked this tour just the night before, and now we both feel it was the best decision we made on our very first day in Prague. It set the tone for our whole trip. My husband is visiting Prague for the first time, and he was deeply impressed by the opportunity to see UNESCO‑listed villages and even step inside a local home to talk with a family there. Those genuine, personal moments made Czech history and village life feel vivid and unforgettable. Our guide Ondřej was incredibly knowledgeable, sharing rich stories and context at every stop while staying attentive and sensitive to our needs and interests. He introduced us to delicious local food, including koláč, and helped us avoid tourist traps with his honest recommendations. The van was super comfortable and the ride so smooth that my husband actually fell asleep for part of the journey, completely relaxed. We were also very grateful that Ondřej assisted us with getting tickets to the Baroque theatre, which became a highlight of the day. From punctual pickup to thoughtful pacing, everything felt warm, well organized, and truly special.
This was a fantastic day trip. We got picked up from our hotel in Prague by our guide Ondrej. We travelled in a comfortable mini van and Ondrej was a very pleasant company throughout. He is very knowledgable, kind and understanding. He helped us get back a purse that my daughter left in a toilet in a gas station and I very much appreciate his patience and kindness in this situation, as it must have been very annoying. Cesky Krumlov is such a lovely, fairytale like place. It's like we stepped into a story setting from another century. We had plenty of time to explore and never felt rushed. One of the most beautiful towns I have ever seen. Holasovice was also a great experience, very authentic place. Ondrej was very thoughtful and hot us desserts and cheese plates to try. He is also a very good driver and generally easy-going. We can recommend this trip to everyone as we all enjoyed it a lot.
Fantastic and Memorable Day. Can’t express what a wonderful time we had with Czech Out Tours and Ondrej! You couldn’t ask for a more dedicated tour guide. We had very comfortable accommodation, a very comprehensive tour and a wonderful local lunch. The day couldn’t have been more perfect. If you can’t decide which tour to take, I can assure you that you will really enjoy your day with this tour.
Highly recommend Ondrej and Czech Out Tours. Had such a wonderful time and the day flew by. First stop was Holašovice, a beautiful UNESCO heritage town where you get to meet a true treasure of a man (I wish I could remember his name!). He gives you a glimpse of what life was like living in a small farming town. Make sure you have him tell you his family ties to NYC. Make sure to stop into the local ceramic shop. After a delicious lunch at a bistro in Cesky Krumlov that overlooks the river (food is so fresh and homemade), Ondrej will take you from the top of the town with magnificent view points through the castle grounds down to the town. You will have free time to explore the picturesque town and its many shops. Loved seeing the local garnets and moldavite, gingerbread, blacksmith and other shops. It is such a wonderful town to wander around in. The van is comfy and has A/C. I already want to go again!

Great day trip to Cesky Krumlov. Nice pace. Great stop off in little village to get a feel for the country life. Very nice to get some free time to wander the beautiful town. Good info about history and castle over past 800 years. Guide was great. On time and communicative before, after, and during the tour. You need to Czech this out.
If you get the chance to travel with Jana, then you are going to want to sit in the front seat with her. Jana shares her thoughts, ideas and opinions freely. As someone who came of age during the Velvet Revolution, hearing this first hand life experience is a perk of the trip that is not mentioned in the trip itinerary. If you want to see Cesky Krumlov, the travel time is unavoidable so why not meet what North Americans would refer to as a true Bohemian, as your personal travel guide? With my highest compliment, Jana reminds me of my sister in law, Avril. You’ll leave this trip feeling like you, too, just passed a pleasurable day with a close friend or family member who wants to give you the context behind the surficial details. And yes, the castle grounds and medieval village are all they are hyped to be.
This tour was the highlight of our trip to Prague. We absolutely loved the personslised service that Ondrej gave us. Our two teenagers have rated this day as their favourite of all the tours we’ve done in Europe. Thank you for such a wonderful day.
We had a very positive experience with a small tour (6) and one guide. It was a full day trip, and we had lunch in the town. The town was beautiful and the tour guide was great.
We have had a great time at Český Krumlov & Holašovice. The entire experience was great- Český Krumlov is a beautiful and enchanting town, and Holašovicehas a full of human history. Our guide was an expert historian, and we enjoyed her explanation very much. And especially, a small-group trip gave us lots of flexibility. We loved it.
I had a great time. It was not as hurried as some of the other tours I had been on previously. Jana was fantastic. She was able to share local stories everywhere we went. I particularly enjoyed visiting an original homestead before we got to Cesky Krumlov. There was a great selection of local handmade items available for purchase. The glass artist was my favorite. She had a large selection of unique glass beads that make a wonderful souvenir.
We had a great time on this tour. Cesky Krumlov is beautiful and worth the drive from Prague. Our guide was very knowledgeable about the history which definitely added to the experience!
The guide was very nice and knowledgeable on a small group tour (6). English language skills were very strong. The site is worth the visit and very attractive. We also had a very pleasant lunch in Cesky Krumlov.
What an incredible day with Ondrej! The tour of Cesky Krumlov was interesting, fun (despite temps over 100°F) and personalized to our groups' interests. He knew most every shop in town and helped us find special non touristy souvenirs- the only ones I bought after 2 weeks of travel. The restaurant for lunch was delicious and could handle all my food allergies. To make things better, we started at the top of the hill, wandered down through the castle and then thru town. Ondrej went back to get the van while we had free time to so we never had to climb back up the hill in the heat. The visit to Holasovice was much more than expected. Not only did we see the town and collection of farm tools from a multi generational farm, but talking with the 85 year old that shared a bit of his life was precious. Ondrej shared insight into life in the Czech Republic that can't be found on larger group tours. It was the best day trip of the two weeks. Thank you Ondrej!
What a great little medieval town! Beautiful views and some very interesting history. This is one of the best preserved medieval towns in all of Europe and was only a couple hours South of Prague. Ondrej, our guide (also owner of the tour company) was fantastic and really made our experience one to remember. We booked a private full-day tour for our family of 4 (all adults) and we were safely driving in a mini-van with air conditioning, which was very important as the temps were 35C+ (high 90s F). I have no issues recommending this tour or Ondrej's tour company. Great times!
My father and I took a Czech Out tour to Cesky Krumlov in May 2026. I had contacted Ondrej before booking the tour to see if it would be right for my father, as he has mobility issues. Ondrej made sure to take my concerns into consideration and suggested this tour based on my available dates. He mentioned that it would be at a slower pace and therefore, suitable for my father. This small group tour was just perfect for us and it was very informative. We visited the town of Cesky Krumlov and Holasovice Village, a UNESCO site, both beautiful places! The drive was two hours long but the time passed, with conversation and camaraderie with everyone on the tour. We had a rest stop along the way so that we could stretch our legs. Our tour included lunch at a local restaurant and the food was delicious. I would definitely have booked another Czech Out tour if I had more time in Prague. However, I will be sure to recommend Czech Out tours to anyone I know who is visiting Prague in the future. I love the play on words for the name of the company, "Czech Out." Thank you, Ondrej, for making our visit memorable. You're like a perfect host, with your hospitality second to none.
Really friendly guide, amazing city, would recommend to anyone in Czech!
The tour with Czech Out tours was great! Our guide Ondrej was so interesting and very knowledgeable and even more importantly was very accommodating and aware of our needs at all times! It was very enjoyable to experience Kutna Hora where my family was originally from 120 years ago! ONDREJ went above and beyond! Highly recommend this tour!!!
This was a great addition to our trip. Ondrej was a personable and entertaining host and we enjoyed the conversations and information shared during the drive. The thoughtfully curated itinerary showcased Czech experiences we would never have stumbled upon on our own. Would highly recommend!
Andre was a fantastic guide. Very knowledgeable, personable and prepared for everything. He had great suggestions and made our trip just that much better. The stop at the farm was an amazing addition, giving a look into the authentic life in Czech. The castle and the town are beautiful and full of heritage and charm. Andre’s knowledge of the castle and stories made it worth the trip
Jana of Czech Out Tours was simply an outstanding guide for our day trip to Cesky Krumlov and Holasovice. She picked us up at our hotel at 8 AM, and while making the two plus hour drive to Cesky Krumlov, provided an extensive historical commentary on the village and its relationship with the capital, Prague, as well as the monarchy. Upon arrival at the Cesky Krumlov castle grounds, Jana provided detailed information about them, the buildings and their occupants. This commentary continued throughout our walking tour of the village until we reached our included lunch restaurant, where we enjoyed gourmet sandwiches and specially made lemonade. We then had about an hour of free time to shop and try a local beer before meeting Jana on the outskirts of the village and heading to Holasovice and its UNESCO farm implements museum, which was an interesting visit to end the day prior to the trip back to Prague, where we arrived about 6:45 PM. We definitely recommend Jana and Czech Out Tours to anyone considering a visit to Cesky Krumlov!
