Our guide for our walking tour of Prague was extremely knowledgeable. We had never been to Prague and she explained the history very clearly and showed us all of the important places to see. It is a fascinating city and I highly recommend this tour.

Prague Castle, the largest castle complex in the world, is a highlight of any tour of Prague. This stunning architectural achievement, which took centuries to complete, reigns supreme from a hill above the rest of the city. The Castle, founded in 870, is also the seat of the Czech president. Dominating the complex is the breathtaking, mostly Gothic Saint Vitus’ Cathedral, which took a staggering 1,000 years to build. Under Emperor Charles IV, Prague Castle was the seat of the Holy Roman Empire. During darker days, Adolf Hitler occupied it. In rosier times, first democratic president Tomáš G. Masaryk and dissident-playwright-turned president Václav Havel ran the country from here.
Prague’s Lesser Quarter has had an interesting past. The area, located below Prague Castle and extending along the Vltava River, was originally a series of small settlements outside the castle fortifications. At that time, the population was mostly ethnic German, merchants who had been invited by King Přemysl Otakar II. The town was ravaged by fire in a Hussite battle in 1419, then again in the fire of 1541, which also damaged St. Vitus’ Cathedral. In the year 1257, these settlements were consolidated, and a separate royal town was formed. Originally called Malé Město Pražské (Prague Lesser Town), the name eventually changed to Malá Strana (Lesser Quarter). The quarter houses many magnificent buildings once owned by the nobility, such as Valdštejn (Wallenstein) palace.
St. Nicholas Church is the most beautiful Baroque church in Prague and dominant of the Liitle Quarter. W.A.Mozart liked to practise on the organ here because of excellent acustics.
The visitor to Prague who wanders the small streets near the river in the Malá Strana district may turn a corner and discover a long wall covered in graffiti. These days, it can be difficult to tell at first what the purpose is. Upon closer examination, the scrawls and paintings come together, and it is clear that this is a tribute to John Lennon. Graffiti started appearing on this wall (the property of the Knights of the Maltese Cross) during the Communist era. The Beatles, and Lennon, had a wide following in the former Czechoslovakia, and when news of Lennon’s death in 1980 reached the country, some of these fans were determined to pay tribute to him. This was no small task; Western music was banned at the time, and the fans risked imprisonment for openly stating their admiration for John Lennon.
The Charles Bridge is arguably the most beautiful gothic bridge in the world. Commissioned by King Charles IV, Holy Roman Emporer and King of Bohemia, the bridge has served as an essential link between Prague’s Old Town and the Lesser Quarter and Prague Castle, for hundreds of years. The bridge features 30 saintly Baroque statues, mostly made of sandstone and added in the 18th century. Most of the statues you see today are replicas. The first statue to be erected on the Charles Bridge is made of bronze. This is the statue of St. John of Nepomuk, the patron saint of Bohemia. According to legend John of Nepomuk refused to reveal the confessions of the wife of King Wenceslas IV, and was thrown off the side of the bridge to his death. On that same night, five stars appeared in the sky above the place of his death, which is why there is always a five-starred halo above any statue of St. John of Nepomuk. Charles Bridge provides some of the most beautiful views of Prague´s historical center.
Founded as a Jesuit collage the Klementinum is home to the National Library and many valuable collections of books can be found here.
Built in the 16th century the Pinkas Synagogue is part of the Jewish Museum and its walls are covered with names of Jews who perished during second world war. The synagogue also provides entrance to the famous Old Jewish Cemetery.
The Old-New Synagogue is the oldest serving synagogue in Europe. Completed in 1270 in gothic style, it was one of Prague's first gothic buildings.
The Old Town Square is probably the most famous square in Prague surrounded by ancient palaces and churches. Many decisive events of the country took place here.
The impressive Old Town Hall, with a 60-meter tower at one end, was built in 1338. On its earthy orange façade stand out a Renaissance window from 1520, the inscription Praga Caput Regni and the Old Town coat-of-arms. Crowds gather on the hour to watch the 15th century astronomical clock, as Death tips an hour glass and rings a bell before the 12 apostles march by, the cock crows and another bell rings.
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart enjoyed visiting Prague and he chose the Estates Theatre for the wold premier of his opera Don Giovanni which he conducted himself in October 1787.
The emperor Charles IV founded the Charles University in 1348. It is the oldest university in the country and one of the oldest universities in Europe.
Wenceslas Square is part of the New Town founded by emperor Charles IV in 1348. Originally called the Horse Market, the Wenceslas Square witnessed many decisive events, e.g. the Velvet revolution in 1989 which put down the Communist regime.
The Powder Tower, also known as Powder Gate, is a Gothic tower which serves as a gateway to the Medieval Royal Route, and is currently one of the most iconic buildings of Prague.
The Municipal House (Obecni dum) in Prague was built at the place of the former Royal Court in 1912 to celebrate the Czech nation. This representative building belongs, for its famous concert hall and beautiful decorations, among the jewels of Prague architecture.

This tour provided an excellent overview of Prague. Our guide, Hanna, walked us through most of the city’s major attractions, and offered expert commentary on its rich history and culture. A perfect introduction of Prague for first-time visitors.
Linda is an excellent guide and well versed in the local history in which we were most interested. She accommodated the detours we asked for and made us feel welcomed and comfortable.
Linda was so informed about the history of this city. She has grown up in Prague and added lots of interesting facts.
Wonderful tour and guide. Cannot recommend Tereza enough! Customized everything for us, gave us incredible tips for locations for great photos as well! Run, don’t walk, to book this tour and Tereza!
Exactly what we were looking for in Prague. Great guide. In Prague. Excellent knowledge and skill. Helpful suggestions.
Our tour guide, Linda, was fantastic! She’s an excellent communicator and knows so much about Prague.
Excellent tour guide, Linda was very informative and touched on all the highlights so we could go back and do other things in more detail if we wanted to.
We loved our tour with Gabriela! She was heartfelt, funny and informative. We learned so much about Prague’s history and significant landmarks.
Our guide, Linda Blättler, was simply amazing … informative, willing to answer our questions, adapted the tour to our schedule and likings, a great ambassador for both Viator and Prague. A great way to get an overview of Prague. If you book this tour and get Linda as your guide, you will be in for a treat.
Gabriella is a great tour guide and will introduce you to Prague. Recommend to book early in your trip so you can follow her and get recommendations for other places to explore in Prague.
I had a fantastic time with Ms. Gabriela! She is very knowledgeable, fun and we had some laughs. Both she and the company managing the tour were so incredibly patient and supportive when I had some incorrect information, and it was immediately resolved. Additionally, I am hearing impaired and I had zero problem understanding anything she was saying, which is too often very difficult for me, and highly appreciated! If I had more time in beautiful Prague, I’d hit her up to see what else she’s got for me… what a bummer that I can’t. I would recommend Ms. Gabriela and this tour!
This was an amazing tour. Gabriella was so fun and she has endless knowledge. As a retired high school teacher she knows how to convey the history of the city and country. We got such a great overview of Prague and feel comfortable taking the public transportation and walking anywhere we want on our own after this experience with Gabriella!!
We were delighted to have Linda, our experienced guide, introduce us to the fabulous city of Prague. We were rather looking forward to this part of our journey, as so many of our friends and acquaintances had told us that this was their favorite city on the continent, and my goodness, were they right. Linda has been leading tours for a long time, and her keep knowledge of the city showed. She even took the time to review the itinerary of a tour we had scheduled for the following day, to ensure that we didn't waste time repeating places on our subsequent tour, something a less experienced guide wouldn't have done, and we appreciated her for this. When you combine her easy manner, ability to answer questions on a wide variety of subjects, and her funny stories about her husband Thor, it made for a perfect day. The truth is, our weather was fabulous, but we'd have enjoyed our time with Linda regardless. Take this tour!
Linda was an excellent tour guide! We visited all of the locations listed and she provided great background information. She also lead us to take a tram part of the way which enabled us to see things more leisurely. Instead of walking a long way up to Prague Castle we took the tram for free since we are seniors. She also recommended a great place for lunch at the end of our tour.
It was a wonderful experience. Linda is a terrific guide and person. Knowledgeable, friendly and flexible. I’m a photographer and she pointed things out that proved to be great things to photograph.
Linda was an exceptional tour guide. She asked us about our interests before we began and tailored our tour to those interests. Highly recommend her!
We had a great experience with Kathy. She took us around the places that we would not know how to get to and showed us all the picturesque spots in Prague. We had a great time and appreciate all she showed us.
Nikola was an excellent tour guide! She showed us many Prague highlights and kept the tour interesting and exciting. We really enjoyed the afternoon and the fun Prague atmosphere! Highly recommended.
Great introduction to the beautiful city of Prague. Tour tailored to my wishes. Linda was an excellent, knowledgeable and friendly guide, who gave me lots of good recommendations.
Kathy was an excellent tour guide, very knowledgeable, friendly and accommodating. She met us at our hotel and then walked us around a large area of central Prague. She asked us what we wanted to do and where we wanted to go but we were happy for her to guide us..literally! She was very informative and constantly told as facts/dates as we walked around. A very useful tour at the beginning of a trip. Thank you Kathy.
Gabriela was fabulous. She provided not only information on the history and the buildings but also tips on where to sample the local beer and food. Her stories and sense of humour made for a delightful experience. We would highly recommend this tour and especially Gabriela!
Linda was a remarkable guide, with an excellent personality and incredible knowledge of this beautiful city. She showed us all the major sites, but I greatly appreciated the lesser known points of interest she drew our attention to. If you have the chance, I highly recommend both the tour and asking for Linda as your guide.
This was a very strange tour. We went to the touristy places but there was little info about what we were seeing or doing. The guide was friendly but unfortunately was not very knowledgeable. We went with this private tour because we thought we would be able to see and learn a lot about Prague but that was not the case 😞
We absolutely LOVED spending our first day in Prague with Gabriela G! Such an informative experience and a personable guide! Highly recommend!
This was a great tour. It started off with our guide asking us if there was anything specific that we would like to see or cover during the tour, if we wanted history or not. I greatly appreciated that ability to tailor the tour to our liking. We ended up walking all over Prague and had one of the best tours that I've ever taken before. I would definitely go on it again.
We loved Gabriella, a former teacher, who offered us an excellent overview of Prague Castle, Mala Strana and Old Town. She was very informative without keeping us at any one place too long. Highly recommend.
Awesome guide - Gabriele - Super knowledgeable and informed about her home - A few days earlier we had a Viator guide in Munich that was not at all informed or knowledgeable - quite a contrast
Jana, our tour guide, was great! Very knowledgeable and thoughtful/flexible with what we saw, since it was a private tour. We felt like it was money well spent, and we had a great overview of the city and its rich history. Jana also gave us restaurant recommendations which was quite helpful! Thanks Jana!
Linda was great! We had a fantastic overview of Prague. She was prompt, friendly, and very thorough in her explanations!
It was a wonderful experience. Our guide Linda was outstanding. Would recommend this tour to everyone.
Great way to familiarize yourself with the city. Our guide (Linda) was knowledgeable and flexible. We walked and talked for 3 hours
Great tour and guide. Agency had an issue with original guide, so we were supposed to start at 9:30, but he found a replacement for 11am
Our tour was good. Melaina met us at our hotel and escorted us through Prague. It was cold and rainy on the day of our tour, but we made the most of it. Our guide was very knowledgeable and maybe produced a few too many specific facts and figures to keep it all straight. Her English was good however she had a very heavy accent that made it difficult for our group to fully understand everything she was telling us. We did cut the tour short as it was a miserable day, but we learned some and had a good overview of the city and how to get from place to place. *One additional note, do not use the taxi cabs in Prague. They took advantage of us, over charged us as they are unregulated, and weren't very friendly. Your US UBER app will work in Prague and is far cheaper.
My wife and I visited Prague as an extension of our Danube River cruise on Viking. We wanted a more personally-paced guided experience than the standard Viking offerings. We booked an afternoon and the next morning to tour each river bank. Our guide, Nikola, did an amazing, warm, and professional job of showing us both the prominent sights and the hidden gems of Prague, expertly taking us on the streetcars between sites. She also gave solid recommendations for dining. She was a joy to be with and is most highly recommended!
It rained the whole time of the tour so we had to adapt a bit. Linda improvised and we still had a pretty good tour. Linda did a good job explaining things to our satisfaction.
This private walking tour with Valerie was excellent. Be prepared to walk for hours while visiting and learning about the history and culture surrounding the city.
Nikola was a great guide, very knowledgeable and friendly. We would have only seen and experienced 25% on our own. She also left us with great suggestions for lunch and the afternoon.
Great walking tour & experience. Really informative guide (Nicky). Well organised &tailored to preferences
Our tour leader gave us an excellent and comprehensive tour of the city. We learned about public transportation, where to dine and all about different sections of the city, including their history. We traveled from our hotel to the Prague castle and down the hill on a lovely street filled with shops and historic sites. We crossed the Charles Bridge and made our way to the Powder Tower and to our hotel. We felt so much more comfortable and well-versed about this gorgeous city!
Great introduction to Prague! Guide was extremely knowledgeable. Would definitely recommend to first timers!
Gabriella is passionate, informative and fun. She is like a queen bee zipping you around Prague and stopping at sites of interest. If you are looking to get a feeling of the area/the lay of the land this is a good tour to get you started exploring the old city of Prague.
We absolutely loved our tour with Tereza. She was fun, very knowledgeable, and covered a significant part of Prague. Highly recommend this tour.
We had a great tour. Linda was very knowledgeable and could answer our questions in clothe context of what we were seeing. She’s clearly thorough on her Prague history.
Our guide Linda was exceptional. She tailored the tour for my husband and me after learning about what we were interested in. We enjoyed her company and our walking tour was delightful. Thank you for showing us parts of Prague we would never have seen.
Our tour guide was very funny and knowledgeable. In 3-3.5 hrs we saw almost everything. Great value for the money.
Linda was very knowledgeable and we enjoyed the tour very much. She customized the stops to accommodate our interests and gave us a view of the city and its history. Highly recommended!
Our guide Gabriela was kind, knowledgeable, and genuinely attentive to our expectations. Right from the start, she asked what we were most interested in and offered to us different options including hidden gems. She had no problem making coffee stops, and the tour ended up running about 20 minutes longer without extra charge! That kind of attitude was such a pleasant surprise :) One thing we’d like to mention: as we walked through the Jewish Quarter, we realized that this part of Prague truly deserves a separate tour of its own. It’s packed with history, beautiful synagogues, and sites that deserve much more time. If we had known that in advance, we would have skipped the Jewish Quarter during this walk and used that time to explore more of the New Town area instead. Still, the tour was excellent overall, and Gabriela was a wonderful guide. Thank you so much!
I gave this tour to my daughter and son-in-law as a gift so I am just reporting what they told me. Pros: The guide was very nice and it was an extremely hot day so they were happy the guide showed up at all. Cons: She didn't seem especially confident in her English so didn't really engage with them unless she was giving her prepared remarks. This was disappointing because they both had questions that she either didn't know the answers to or didn't want to answer. For example, they wanted to know more about how life had changed since the fall of the Communist regime. They said the guide seemed very uncomfortable with that question and just ignored it! A couple times, they got answers that were clearly incorrect when they looked them up later online and that made them wonder how much of the tour was actually factual. They did say that she was knowledgeable about the gardens at the Castle and the churches.
Good intro to Prague. Very kid-friendly guide, lots of great information and unusual facts and history.
