I had an amazing trip with the Northern Hike team, everything was great and our guide was very professional and friendly. Thank you very much Timmy for yesterday, you were awesome. I definitely will recommend Northern Hike team to anyone that’s is looking to have an unforgettable experience in the Northern part of Czech Republic 🇨🇿. Once again thank you very much 🙏🏻

Itinerary
You will be picked up in the morning at your accomodation in Prague together with all other participants. Maximum size of our group is 7. We will drive in a comfortable Mercedes van approximately 2 hours to our first stop on this tour which is in Germany. Rest room stops guaranteed.
Passport or ID needed for this part. Our first stop on this tour is famous and picturesque Bastei Bridge in German (Saxon) part of the national park. A bridge that once connected land with the castle built in sandstone rocks. We will spend approximately one hour there and we will help you to get the best pictures and learn something about the place as well.
On our way from Bastei back to the Czech Republic we will drive along Labe /Elbe river approximately 30 minutes until we will get to the gate to the Czech part of the park - Hrensko village. We will park our van there.
Bohemian Switzerland is simply the Czech part of the national park. We will spend the bigger part of the day there doing various activities mentioned below.
The most famous part of the Czech half of this park - is the largest sandstone arch in Europe. We start our hike from the parking lot. It is 1 kilometr on the road and 2,5 km up to the hill (the same distance back then). For most people this hike is easy but some people who are not used to walk or exercise it can be more challenging. Take your time. You will make it to the top in the end and the views that are waiting there for you are worth it. Little kids, seniors, they all are hiking to the top every day. You will do it too. Easily. Remember, during the winter season (November to March) the arch is open only from Friday to Sunday. Tisa Rocks labyrinth is our winter alternative.
You will be hungry. We will take you to a local restaurant to taste some good Czech food and a good Czech beer (or a soda if you like).
Between April and October only. Some people like this part the most. The gorge is really nice place. The access to it leads through long stairs in a forest down to a river. River Kamenice is in some parts accessible only via boat. And that is your trip. Boats leave from a port through the gorge and at the end of it they return back.
In the end of our day we will take you back to your hotels in Prague again.

The title of this activity was a bit confusing but still very enjoyable to spend the day seeing beautiful scenery in the country. Our guide Vojta was very knowledgeable and was fun to be around.
Exhausting. Great for hikers, a real challenge. Not so much so for photography. Our tour guide was great and the food was especially good. So, all in all, a lot of fun!!
Our guide, Miki, was great. He also offered suggestions for other places to visit while in Prague. As noted in the description, there is quite a lot of hiking and stair climbing. The boat portion is very short but the scenery is gorgeous.
What an incredible day! The trip to Saxon Switzerland National Park was absolutely amazing, with breathtaking views and picturesque landscapes everywhere you looked. A huge part of what made the experience so memorable was our tour guide, Vojta. He was friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about the area. He made the entire day relaxed, fun, and interesting, while taking us to some truly spectacular spots. The scenery was even more impressive in person than in the photos. Beautiful forests, dramatic rock formations, and incredible viewpoints made this one of the highlights of our trip. Highly recommend this tour, and especially Vojta as a guide. Thank you for an unforgettable day and some great memories!
We booked the 2 Countries: Bohemian and Saxon Switzerland tour from Prague with our guide Mikki, and it was one of the best experiences of our entire trip. Mikki was outstanding from start to finish — fun, engaged, and with us every step of the way rather than just pointing us in a direction and disappearing. He took care of every detail: he'd arranged a table for us ahead of time so lunch was seamless, made sure everyone had bathroom breaks throughout the day, and was happy to pull over for snacks on the drive back without us even having to ask. Little touches like that made a long day feel effortless. The scenery was stunning — Bastei Bridge is every bit as beautiful as the photos suggest, and the hike to it was gorgeous without being too strenuous for our group, which included kids. The boat ride afterward is a short, relaxed float rather than anything intense, but it was a lovely, peaceful way to cap off the hike. Mikki also pointed out filming locations along the way, including spots used in Narnia, which was a fun bonus for the kids. Honestly, though, what we'll remember most isn't just the sights — it's the connection we made with Mikki himself. He felt less like a tour guide and more like a new friend showing us around his country. Can't recommend this tour, and Mikki specifically, enough.
Fantastic day, the highlight of our 3 week trip to Eastern Europe. Marek picked us up exactly on time and was a wealth of information during our drive. Polite, respectful and we’d adopt him as a grandson in a heartbeat. He hiked with us in both national parks, giving historical and geological background. My husband walks slowly (he is 80 ) and never did we feel rushed. This is why a group size of 3 was perfect for us. Marek stopped often, took pictures of us and engaged in fun and informative conversation. Lunch at a small village cafe was great and the beer even better! You can not ask for a better guide and driver nor a more enjoyable experience. It was a physical day but so worth it. The views were phenomenal and river ride relaxing 11 hours later we returned to the hotel, tired but grateful for the opportunity to see the beautiful countryside and hike 2 national parks. An entirely different perspective than multiple cities. Wishing Marek the best at the university. Thank you for the day
Stunning views. But they did too much for most people to do in one day. The hike to the Arch was difficult even for those who like to hike in mountain terrain. The boat ride wasn't worth the 20 minutes of stairs going down that you had to then walk back up. I didn't do the boat because I have a recently diagnosed neuromuscular disorder, but the others on the tour all regretted doing it. Partly because it was too hot and partly because it was too much physically in back to back activities. It was very hot the day we went, and the van was changed out the night before, and it wasn't clean and didn't have everything promised in the description I received. Specifically, there wasn't a lot of water - again, heat wave - the water wasn't in a cooler so it was HOT. And there weren't any walking sticks to borrow.
Miki was fantastic as a driver and tour guide. He kept us on schedule, was super friendly and helped out by taking great photos of us. The hike should not be billed as an easy hike - where I’m from that would be a moderate (3 or 4) hike due to how much uneven uphill there is for how long - most of the 1.25-1.5 miles to the arch was uphill. Thankfully we could go at our own pace. The added river cruise was pretty but not worth the additional hike - another almost .75 downhill to the boat for a 15-20 minute ride. What goes down has to come back up! Again not an easy hike. We’re glad we did it and we did enjoy it but do wish our expectations had been set better before signing up.
There is a lot of hiking. No poles were provided which other tour companies did.. I was picked up in a beat up van with windows cracked. Covered in duck tape No professional car.. Guide was nice, same as driver. Drove extremely fast.
Vojta was an excellent guide. He made the experience very enjoyable. We had a very fun day, would highly recommend a day out in nature.
2 beautiful hikes, read the description for proper attire. Lunch at a local small spot with beautiful views, easy relaxing short boat ride with small group. Vojta, our guide was knowledgeable and fun, had water for us and stopped at gas station on the way and let us purchase snacks, etc with no rush. Overall great!!! Definitely recommend if you love hikes and national parks. Amazing views worth the hikes 💕
The guid was very knowledgeable and very nice a person, We were very happy to have him and the park is very beautiful.
Marek was an amazing guide! he accommodated our group in his own car when the company truck had troubles, and made sure we were taken care of. He is polite, funny, and extremely knowledgeable on the sites. He also shared many additional insights to the Czech culture, which made the tour more meaningful. The sites we visited were beautiful and we spent just the right amount of time at each place. Highly recommend!
Votya is a great tour guide, he was knowledgeable and fun, we love the scenery but did not realize the hike was a bit difficult for us, but overall we had a great time.
What beautiful countryside. Vojta was a wonderful guide. So knowledgeable and fun. I really enjoyed the day and getting to see such natural splendors. It was challenging, but Vojta made it worth the effort.
Great experience, beautiful scenery. Our guide was very good. Double check the itinerary before booking as different trips are given similar titles
Vojta was a great tour guide, even with the rainy weather he kept the trip fun with interesting commentary and great jokes.
This was amazing! We loved the option of being picked up at our apartment. It made it so much easier. And then we had enjoyable rides in a comfortable van to our destinations. This was so much better than getting on a giant bus with a huge group of people. We were taken to the most amazing places! It is definitely worth doing. Our guide helped to make this tour extra enjoyable. He was very knowledgeable about what we were seeing and gave us so much history of the area. And the best part was, he really looked like he was enjoying his day as much as we were. And lunch was delicious! I would say that this is something you should not miss if you are visiting this area! It was amazing!
Was the best experience ever. Beautiful landscapes and great adventure. The tour guide Vojta was the best. He did a great job showing us the wonderful rock formation from the ancient times. Very friendly and professional. We strongly recommend him to friends and family
This was the worst ever experience I had during my multiple trips over my life. Do not expect the "guide" to tell you any history of the region or sand stone formations. The whole 1.5 hours on the way to Saxon Switzerland and 1.5 hours on the way back to Prague from the Bohemian Switzerland the "guide" did not say a word, instead stimulating tourists to entertain themselves by talking to each other. No less important, the so called "guide" not only does not walk with you to the Eagle's Nest and back, leaving you to the risk of anything that might happen along the road, but the worst is that he got upset that we took 1 hour and 15 min to get to the arch, instead of his ideal 40 min. Even worse, when we got there, he even did not give us time to take pictures on sit under the arch to enjoy the view. Instead, he rushed us to get down in order not to upset the owners of the restaurant. He absolutely did not care about upsetting us and ruining our whole day experience for the super high price for this kind of service. It was not a guided tour by any means, but rather a trip with the driver. There were three of us, all from the United States. The other lady got so exhausted from the rush to the Eagle's Nest that she could not make it to the prettiest and most desirable part of the trip - the boat ride. Such a shame and such a waste of money, with no emotional reward. This tour should be canceled by Viator and the provider should NOT be allowed to advertise his "service" on a reputable travel site. The mentioned above lady shared with me, that she is surprised this provider still is being offered here, I could not agree with her more. If possible, I want my money back, at least partially. I have no problems with Viator, I had very good tours with them in many countries, however this provider's service is absolutely unacceptable.
Our guide was Honza and he ensured we had a great day, we were so lucky to have beautiful weather, firstly over the border to Germany and Bastei bridge we had spectacular views and Honza told us so much about this place, this part of the hike is easy but I would recommend taking some euros in small change if you have some for toilets, the next part is the hardest part of the hike partially due to the sandy paths in places but very much worth the walk uphill for more amazing views, after we came back down my legs felt like they had a workout, lunch was next which if you've been on tours before with lunch included you maybe do not have high hopes for this part but I can say the portion size was very generous, a decent size drink as well as water for the table and very tasty in a very beautiful location, the food was ready very soon after arriving as our guide had organised things this way but not once did we feel rushed, after this it was down to the gorge , again so beautiful to see this and the gondola very enjoyable and only a small wait for. All communication was clear for pickup etc and the day was very enjoyable, I would say for this day trip ensure you are capable of walking the 12km as I imagine it would be too much for someone unused to walking ( there is an alternative trip held on different days for people who do not or cannot hike) but definitely a must do for anyone who enjoys an active day out. Thanks Honza.
I chose the easy day with Bastei bridge and Tissa Rocks because I had a recent injury. It was a whole lotta stairs but luckily my group was very patient and helpful. The Bastei bridge was beautiful!! It was just a bridge with a couple lookout spots but oh my it was still worth it. The Tissa Rocks were really neat to run around and climb through, despite the harrowing stairs getting there. Vojta was very friendly and knowledgeable and I loved that we had a nice traditional czech lunch! If you are lucky to get Vojta as your guide, please let him take all your pictures. They come out so professional!
This hike was the absolute highlight of our trip. The landscapes were breathtaking and the entire day was very well organized. What made the experience even more special was our guide, Vojta. He was friendly, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about the region. The day was filled with incredible sights, funny jokes, and interesting stories about the history, geology, and local culture, which made the places we visited even more meaningful. Vojta did a fantastic job managing the tour, keeping a comfortable pace, and making sure everyone had a great experience. The scenery on both the Czech and German sides of the park was stunning, with dramatic rock formations, beautiful nature, and exceptional viewpoints. A big thank you to Vojta for making this such a memorable day. I highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Prague who enjoys hiking and wants to experience some of the most beautiful natural landscapes in the region.
Our guide, Vojta was simply amazing! His love of nature, coupled with his vast knowledge of the area (both the Germany and the Czecha side) was vast. This trip included a lovely lunch and lots of delightful conversation. A beautiful day to be in a gorgeous part of the world. Many sincere thanks. Driving skills A+++.
We had a great day filled with adventure and knowledge, an overall great experience. The guide was extremely knowledgeable and was great company throughout the day. Would highly recommend.
The tour is absolutely amazing and we were blessed to have gone on a day when the grounds were blanketed in snow. It was beautiful and our guide was fabulous. I didn't feel strange being alone amongst other couples.
Fun experience. Awesome guide who was friendly. If going in the winter bring warm clothes, gloves and hat. Looks beautiful in the winter.
My guide was Ondrej Maly. He is very knowledgeable about the history of the places that i was visiting. The journey to Saxon is like entering another world. The trees were covered with ice but not from snow. It was from water condensation that were frozen due to low temperature. The walk in the Saxon was very fascinating for me especially entering the paths in between the rock formation. The lunch was awesome although I opted for vegan menu. I was served mushrooms deep fried with thin batter and boiled potatoes mixed with butter. Desert was pancake with raspberry filling, sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon. Next stop was the Bastei Bridge. The views from the platforms were amazing. Ondrej was very entertaining with quizzes and facts about the locations. 10 stars for Ondrej!
While the organization, communication/coordination, etc. leading up to the trip was quite well managed, the description can be a bit misleading, as neither Pravicka Gate nor boat ride was part of the tour! Lunch was also offered as an afterthought, especially if you're after veg/vegan options (which are a bit slim in most restaurants en route). However, I really enjoyed my conversations with Ondřej and his enthusiasm through the day was well appreciated :)
Vojta was by far the friendliest, most knowledgeable and funniest guide. He took us to the best spots, acted as our photographer, and even joined us for a snowball fight. We can’t reccomend him or his tour enough! It was definitely our favourite day in Prague!
To our driver cum guide , Vojta , thank you for making this trip absolute perfection. The National Park was so beautiful and the scenery was amazing .. do expect some walking uphill/downhill Lunch was good too! Highly recommended if you are in Prague for a couple of days. June Y.. 27 Nov 2025
It’s a magical fairy land and definitely worth experiencing. Thanks Ondrej for being fun, easy going, and informative.
A great day out with really friendly guides. A delicious local lunch in between two stunning bit of scenery. Highly recommend this trip!
The tour was fantastic, with beautiful walks and the tour guide Ondrej was fantastic. Very nice guy, great sense of humour and very knowledgeable- gave some very interesting insights not only into the Gorge and the National Park, but Czech culture and history. He is also a very safe driver, which is important because there is about 3.5-4 hrs driving involved. Highly recommended!
A good workout with fantastic scenery. Expect a lot of walking uphill. The view at the top was worth the climb. Our guide and driver, Vojta, was funny, pleasant, and great at pointing out the best views as well as some history. The small size of the group made it even better.
We took this trip in October, the weather was good, we visited some very beautiful places, and we had a wonderful guide. A delicious lunch with beer, a boat trip, and unforgettable views – everything was wonderful.
Great tour to see the beautiful nature in Germany and Czech. Our tour guide Vojta is very knowledgeable about the attractions. The lunch is included which makes the tour is so worth it. Definitely recommended it.
We went on the Bohemian and Saxon Switzerland 2-country tour today, and it was absolutely amazing! Our guide, Ondrej, was incredibly knowledgeable about the area and its history, and he shared so many interesting details about both countries along the way. He also had a great sense of humor, which made the day even more enjoyable. The scenery was breathtaking, the itinerary was well-paced, and the whole experience was seamless from start to finish. I would totally recommend this tour to anyone visiting the area — it’s an unforgettable day!
Great experience. Our guide, Vojta, was engaging and really helpful. Beautiful views and good fun. Can get busy in summer months
Andrei is the best guide in the world.Even though i travelled solo i felt myself welcomed and appreciated in the big company of people all around the world
The beauty of this area cannot be over estimated. This tour is a great break from the crowds of the city. Our tour guide did a great job of giving us information about the surrounding area and the towns we drove through. The activity level is at least a medium. So be prepared with layers of clothing and comfortable shoes. The scenery is worth the work.
The hike was challenging but the view at the top was so breathtaking. Our guide watched out for all of us. And he shared interesting information about the country. The bridge was amazing to see. Our guide did an excellent job throughout the tour. Excellent lunch. I trusted him and really liked the guy! Would highly recommend.
Efficient, great experience on a cold rainy day. Loved visiting the parks and experiencing life outside the city. Highly recommend
This is a medium - hard hike for most. Uphill equivalent to almost 70 flights of stairs. With that said it was an amazing trip and tour! Loved Andre, our guide.
Our tour guide was awesome. Not only did he show us some incredibly beautiful & scenic locations but he explained a lot about his country that he loves. He speaks English very well. ***Please read the description of this tour well. It is a challenging series of hikes to include a lot of uphill & back down.***
Our guide was great, I thought there would be more hiking, but the scenery was absolutely incredible and nice to go to a typical little Czechia restaurant for lunch,
I think this trip could have been represented better in the description. 1) First stop: Bastei Bridge in Germany was beautiful. This was my favorite place. There was probably 1/4 of a mile slightly uphill from the parking lot. There were probably 30 or 40 steps down to the sandstone area and about the same amount up. This wasn't difficult if you can handle some steps. We were walking on a path or paved road. 2) Hike to the sandstone arch in the Czech Republic: Our guide kindly dropped us off at the trail head as it would have added almost an additional half mile each way to and from the parking areas. The trail is a gradual incline to start but quickly becomes very rocky and uneven. We asked for hiking poles and the guide wasn't sure he had them (he did), but he didn't have enough for everyone. These were very helpful and necessary for the uneven terrain. He didn't hike with us at all on the trail going up. We were surprised about that. We thought he would catch up with us after he dropped the van off. Another guide from another company was hiking at the same time and she hiked with her customers and was explaining things to them on the way up. She talked to us a little bit and seemed surprised that our guide left us. We were sad that we had not chosen that company. The last quarter of a mile or so was all stone steps (many); some are quite high in height. Our short person in the group didn't make it to the top because of the steps. The sandstone arch and views are pretty but if you have seen the arches in Utah, I would say they were less spectacular than the ones you see there. Our guide left us again going down and there was an incident where dead trees in a burn area crashed down the hillside in between a couple of groups of hikers (maybe 100 feet on either side). Debris and branches were flying everywhere. Our guide would never have known if it had hit anyone in our group. 3) Next stop was a cute family restaurant that is right next to where the trail for the boat begins. The food was fantastic and the owners were friendly and nice. The trail leading down to the river looked very steep and we were told there were 150 steps. The other couple in the group who were in good shape decided they had enough steps for the day as did two in our group. Our three friends who went said the 20 minute boat ride in the gorge maybe wasn't worth it for the effort to get up and down to it. Again, our guide didn't hike with them. So my recommendations for deciding whether to go on this trip are to make sure you have good shoes. Sturdy tennis shoes will work; but, hiking boots would be better for the longer hike. Make sure you physically capable of doing at least 200 to 300 steps for the day, both up and down on rocky terrain. The steps can be quite high. The quote from the description, I would say is a bit misleading. From the company description: "For most people this hike is easy but some people who are not used to walk or exercise it can be more challenging. Take your time. You will make it to the top in the end and the views that are waiting there for you are worth it. Little kids, seniors, they all are hiking to the top every day. You will do it too. Easily." All of us are used to walking and exercising but we didn't think this was necessarily an easy day. My recommendation for the guide would be to learn your history of the area a bit better and talk to your customers. He didn't really talk at all to us on the 2-hour drive to the first stop, didn't hike with us at all and didn't seem interested in us as a group. When asked questions he did tell us some stories about the burn area but had we not asked, I don't think we would have heard them.
This tour is much harder than advertised. First, if you’re not staying directly in the designated city area, they won’t pick you up—I was just 10 minutes away and still couldn’t get transportation. Second, the guide isn’t with you the whole time. In my case, the guide went off on a solo hike and just told us, “Climb there and I’ll meet you.” The river portion is especially tough. Hiking upstream is very challenging, and the actual “tour” part at the river lasted less than 10 minutes before the difficult climb back up began. I exercise almost every day and consider myself in good shape, but this was far from the “moderate” activity level they described. If you book this, be prepared—it’s much more demanding than advertised. Other than that the views wore amazing ⸻
I could only give this 3 stars because in my opinion this should have been cancelled & rescheduled due to the weather. It’s a shame that we spent a lot of money and didn’t enjoy ourselves because it was so windy rainy & cold. The guide was good and accommodating when we opted to stay inside the restaurant instead of doing a treacherous hike in the rain. I don’t believe this is a tour for the inexperienced hiker like me and my friend and feel the description of the tour should be more clear.
