While the wine was good and the location was beautiful, it was way too long in between stops. A lot of people were falling asleep between the stops. We opted to do the 3rd winery rather than the boat ride and I’m glad we did! When we met back up with the rest of the group following their boat ride, they said it was just okay since it was hot and there was no food/bar on board. It was at least 30 mins between every stop and a very long time from when we got on the bus until lunch which was around 2pm. The lunch spot was beautiful and offered unlimited wine which was nice.
Rita was our guide and she was very helpful and knowledgeable about the area and wines itself. We were surprised at the terrain of the Douro Valley and did not know how steep the slopes were where grapes were being grown. We would highly recommend this tour (some of our group did the boat ride on the river). The lunch was fantastic. Great experience.
Fantastic tour. Good value we felt for a whole day tour including lunch. The tasting pours were all generous, especially at the first place with lunch - we were given a bottle of red and a bottle of white to drink with our food which they replenished when the table had finished it. It was all lovely quality and the setting was fabulous. An amazing sunny day in the Duoro valley. We did the option with 3 wineries, some of our group were on the 2 wineries + boat trip. The last winery was well worth it - fab views and a couple of extra ports to taste. Probably the only thing I would say is I expected more Duoro table wine and less Port, but the ports were all nice just a little stronger and sweeter.
Rita was a GREAT guide! Very knowledgeable and fun. The Douro Valley was spectacular, the wine and food was amazing. Very well done.
This was one of our favorite trips while in Portugal. The views are amazing and the wine was all we had hoped for. The bus was very comfortable, our driver (not sure of her name) was awesome, and our guide (Tiago) made it a very enjoyable experience. It was also extremely nice getting to meet and share the experience with folks from many different countries.
Had an incredible time. Our tour guide Rita was super knowledgeable and fun. Got to see beautiful Douro Valley and taste some great port wine. I would 100 percent recommend it.
Booked this tour for myself and a friend. We loved the option for 3 wineries rather than 2 and a boat ride. Meeting point was easy to find, a little chaotic but viator responded quickly with a name/photo of our guide so he was easy to spot. Our guide, VICTOR, was phenomenal - had so much info about the area, culture (and rivalry between Porto and Lisbon), port and process, and was charismatic while going through it all. He made the tour enjoyable through unexpected hiccups like road blocks and rerouting. Solar dos Dragos was a beautiful spot, wonderful tasting and engaging guide to walk us through the food pairings.
The meeting point is absolute chaos. Something needs to be done, perhaps the various companies running the tours should have allocated area with brand boards so you know where to wait as without them you just have random people shouting out names of who is in their tour. I pointed this chaos out to the company we were travelling with after myself and our friends had been walking up and down the steps for 20 minutes not knowing who was the person we were travelling with. In the end we enjoyed the tour but not the waiting around in the rain trying to find who had us on their list.
We traveled with a small group of 8. Our guide Juliana was wonderful! Charming, helpful, and very knowledgeable. And an excellent driver- we always felt comfortable in her hands!
Very entertaining and worth the time and cost. Rita was our host and kept the group well informed with knowledge and humor. Do not miss..
Our tour guide was Rita and we had a great day! Food was lovely and the guide was very informative as well… definitely worth the money.
We had Rita as our guide, she’s super sweet, friendly, had explained everything in the shuttle and more importantly, she took really nice pictures for us! Super attentive and we enjoyed her company throughout the entire day. We like her humor! The wines we had are also very unique and nice, for those who are coming to Porto, we recommend to join this tour!
A very entertaining guide, Sara, and excellent driver. Three wineries and dinners were fabulous. The trip gave us a great perspective on the Duero Valley, its wines and people. One we will remember.
The small Group of the Duoro valley was incredible from start to finish. Our driver/guide Tiago was an excellent driver/ guide. He made our trip fun and informative! The wineries were beautiful and the views breathtaking. The lunch was delicious, in a beautiful home/restaurant. Don’t skip this tour it was a full day of fun!
We had a fantastic day visiting vineyards with wine & port tasting, all of which were lovely. We were also impressed with the meal, the trip was excellent value.
This is a fantastic tour and a must do if you have an extra day in Porto. The pick up service was fantastic. The journey though over an hour flew by and our tour guide kept us entertained the whole way. Our guide Sara was brilliant and very knowledgeable on many subjects both the Douro, Port, and Portugal. She was engaging kept conversation going and made the experience very welcoming for a solo traveler. The three vineyards were well selected, though if you prefer there is also an option for a boat tour, with two vineyards. I’d recommend all three vineyards as the first has a special rose port which you can try, and did not feature for the other vineyards in my tour. Lunch was fantastic, the venue was beautiful, the staff amazing, and the food tasty. With good wine pairings, port, coffee and desert. As a solo traveler I’d definitely recommend, and the smaller group size was a nice way to travel. Thank you to Sara, and all the other guests on my tour who made it a welcoming and fun experience.
Sara was a great guide and the guides at each of the wineries were knowledgeable and enthusiastic about their products.
Really fun day in the Duoro valley visiting wineries, having lunch with optional boat ride. Would highly recommend!
Pedro was a great tour guide! The tour was very fun and informative, and I felt we were in safe hands on the windy mountain roads of the Douro Valley. Pedro also shared suggestions for other things to do based on our interests which I really appreciate!
Great day out. Last day before our trip in Portugal and Porto. Our guide Rita and our driver Lucas looked after us so well. It was lovely to connect with others on our group tour in a natural friendly atmosphere. Great landscapes and amazing people. We could feel and see the passion everywhere. Well worth the investment and time.
It was lovely, Rita was fabulous and the group that we were able to meet the socialized with really enhanced the experiencemarvoukr
Highly encourage this tour and recommend asking for guide Vitor/dri er Alex!! Fun, informative and well worth the day!
Great relaxing way to visit the Douro Valley…enjoy visiting wineries and savoring some great wines. Informative and enjoyable. I would recommend this tour to experience the beauty of the region….
We did the small group Duoro Valley tour with the 3 tastings & I can't recommend it enough! Each vineyard was beautiful with great wines. The lunch was also delicious! But the highlight of the day was easily our tour guide, Vitor! He was so knowledgeable about the area & made sure everyone got everything out of the tour that they wanted. At no point did I feel rushed or like we were missing out on something. Also, shout out to our driver, Sheila - she is fearless driving on those tight roads!
Incredible experience with Nuno! He has an amazing personality and is so knowledgeable. He takes the best care of you throughout the day and works to make sure everyone has a great experience. The wine and the lunch were wonderful as well. I would recommend this tour with Nuno to everyone!
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Fantastic Wine Tour with Nino & Sheila! We had an absolutely wonderful experience on our wine tour! Nino was an exceptional guide—friendly, knowledgeable, engaging, and genuinely passionate about the region and its wines, besides his pastry passion. He did a fantastic job explaining everything in a way that was interesting and enjoyable, and he made the entire day feel relaxed rather than rushed. A special thank-you also to our driver, Sheila! She was amazing, handling the roads and the difficult drivers with ease, even those objecting to her professional skill of navigating difficult tight roads! Having her handle the driving allowed us to simply relax, enjoy the scenery, and, of course, enjoy the wine! Nino and Sheila made a great team and really helped make this one of the highlights of our time in Portugal. We would absolutely recommend this tour, and if you have the opportunity to tour with Nino and Sheila, you're in excellent hands! Thank you both for such a memorable day! 🍷🇵🇹
Tiago was a good tour guide and enthusiastic throughout the journey. I would say that the people/clerks at Croft were rude to a few of our group members (including to tour guide Tiago). Our Croft tour guide told us to sit somewhere and then we were moved to a different table by another Croft worker (didn’t catch her name but she had blonde hair and small stature) to a table with less wine to taste. We were separated from our original tour group without any explanation of the wines on our table. At last the original Croft guide came and mentioned something about the two ports we had and left to the other table quickly. Ironically, we were the ones prepared to spend, but decided to take our business elsewhere after this treatment. I would recommend external tour companies and operators to skip the terrible service at Croft and take their tourists to a different winery. If you are visiting for the first time, better to take a tour with more family-based businesses.
There is a break about 1/2 way into the tour. This is when you can use the restroom, get a beverage or a bite to eat.
This vineyard tour was made even more wonderful by our incredible professional, and very friendly guide Sara, she was very knowledgeable and caring about all aspects of our excursion. She kept safety and our comfort in the forefront of her concern. We would love to do another excursion with Sara.
Amazing day in Douro valley. Guide very knowledgeable. Fantastic lunch and tastings. Absolutely recommend!
I had an amazing time with a very knowledgeable guide. It was great to taste the different types of vine and be able to walk through the vineyard.
The tour is really great. We were contemplating if we should do it or not but eventually, it’s a great thing we decided to do it. The door of valley itself is amazing wine region, especially the beauty of the tall mountains, and the Vineyard, which is very unique. We are from near Napa and still appreciate the region . The tour itself is great . We were in a small group . Great tasting experience and lunch and free flowing wine , maybe a bit too free flowing at the end lmao . All is all great for the price .
Our guide Tiago was amazing. He was funny, charming and very well informed. His English was excellent and he could not have been more approachable for questions and conversations. Our driver Lucas was very talented and kept us alive on some quite questionable roads!
Fantastic tour! Our guide, Andre, was wonderful - both knowledgeable and funny - and a great host and driver. We really appreciated that the wineries were beautiful spaces, and that there was never a sales pitch or push to buy anything.
We had the best time! Andre is a hysterical and knowledgeable tour guide. The port wines we tried were delicious and the scenery was beautiful!
This was an excellent day trip. The guide, Tiago, was top class, very informative and great personality. The three vineyards were so interesting and, of course, the port wine was delicious. There was an extremely knowledgeable guide at each vineyard who gave information and answered questions. The lunch was lovely sat on a beautiful terrace overlooking the countryside.
This was a wonderful day trip with a brilliant guide (Tiago) who was very informative. Each vineyard was interesting and of course the port wine was delicious. We would highly recommend this trip. The lunch was yummy, really enjoyed it. Loved the peacock, he was on full display.
It is truly a spectacular tour and well worth the cost. The views are spectacular, guides were so knowledgeable, patient, and in very good spirits. The wineries were absolutely lovely. I’ve taken more tours than I can remember, however this one, I will never forget
Great experience. Tiago was great, so much personality and lots of interesting information. Lovely wines. 3 great vineyards. Recommend.
Tiago was an incredible tour guide. He was very kind, fun, and explained everything in great detail. We got a good amount of wine, lunch, and dessert. It was also a good amount of time at each vineyard. Highly recommend!
Vitor Alves was an excellent tour guide/driver. We did the three-winery tour and he made sure to get us where we needed to be, plus answered questions we didn’t think to ask of the other guides. We especially enjoyed his historical knowledge.
We had a wonderful day with Andre. Clean and spacious car. He was friendly, informative and knowledgeable. The day was very well planned out. We were never rushed and there was plenty of time to see each winery, wander around and take photos. We had such a lovely time we didn’t want the day to end.
A very convenient tour! Highly recommend if you wanna explore more of Portugals wine country.
Excellent,. Great wine and entertainment
Had a great tour with João (guide) and Lucas (driver)! Went to 3 awesome wineries with AMAZING views. Stops were well paced, so it wasn’t overwhelming to go place to place. João and Lucas were so fun to talk to, and I enjoyed talked to the rest of the people on the tour. We had 19 total. Lunch was later in the day but it was so good. I got seconds of the meat dish and ample wine. Total from the tour we did: Stop 1: 2 wine tasting + 2 port Stop 2: 2 port Stop 3: 2 wine with lunch + 2 port During stop 2, half the group did the boat tour while we continued to do an additional tasting. No regrets missing the boat tour. Van we took was a very nice Mercedes sprinter van with great AC, wifi, and charging ports. Meet up was easy and they called out names to confirm who was on the tour. A great tour to take during my 30th birthday trip with my friends!
I didn’t know what to expect since this was my first wine tour. The meetup location wasn’t exactly clear, but we manage to find it. The ride was about a hour and a half which isn’t awful if you just sleep on the bus. The wine stops were a lot of fun and everyone was so knowledgeable. Our tour guide, Joao, and driver ,Luca, were funny, kind, and helpful. The tour overall was a lot of fun!
Super fun! Food was great! Wine and port was excellent! Unlimited wine at lunch! Would not recommend bringing kids
João and Lucas were excellent guides and my group had a great time. They got us to our place promptly and were funny, professional, and attentive.
This was a full day wine tour and it was great! Our tour guide was Pedro and he was wonderful. Pedro shared a lot of wine knowledge with us on the way to our tour. He even gave my husband and I some suggestions of regions to stop and try wine on our roadtrip from Algarve to Lisbon. We visited 3 wineries. The first one was very busy and a little bit rushed, but the other two wineries were wonderful! At the second winery, it was very small and family owned. At the third winery, we got to have a sit down lunch. It was amazing! We got salad, soup, bread, red and white table wine, and there was a fish, chicken, and vegetarian option for the main course. I had the chicken and it was delicious!
