We had a fun day with Nino Silva🤩🤩. He showed us Coimbra and Aveiro. Also, he brought us to Marisqueira Costa Nova to have a great seafood lunch. Another wonderful excursion in Porto.

I really enjoyed this tour for 4 reason: 1) It was just 3 of us on the tour 2) which allowed our tour guide provide in-depth information throughout the day based on our interests 3) it was a beautiful sunny warm day and 4) the tour guide was knowledgable, patient, and funny.
Franco and NuNu were great! They were informative and very knowledgeable . They made the tour enjoyable and memorable .
This isn't really a guided tour. Though our excellent driver did have much to share about our destinations (Coimbra and Aveiro), this was more self guided through both the university and tourist district of Aveiro. Great to have convenient, safe transport, but not great value otherwise. (I did learn a lot about Portugal from our guide who was very knowledgeable, friendly, and easy to talk to.) Be sure to purchase your Coimbra University Library ticket well in advance.
Very different experiences between Coimbra and Aveiro! First is the finest university city with a large botanical garden, Roman aqueduct and palace. Aveiro was a small city on a canal which you can take a ride. Excellent seafood lunch. Costa Nova had pretty painted beach houses. Our guide David was excellent and gave us plenty of time for exploration of our own. He had a wealth of knowledge about the areas and Portugal in general. Thank you for a great day.
Very nice and professional driver and tour guide, he arranged all well for old and young people in this tour. Had a great day in this tour!
We had a thoroughly enjoyable day with Nuno as we ventured out to Aveiro and Coimbra. He was very personable, interesting, and sensitive to our needs. He added a few extra stops along the way for pictures and historical context. He made the whole experience special for us! Highly recommend…
We had a great day with Nuno Silva first in Aveiro where he showed us the sandbanks and some of the character of the town then a salt boat ride through the canals. After that we went on to Coimbra to see the architectural beauty of the university and the town itself. We had a very good day with lots of pictures. We would highly recommend this tour with Nuno.
We booked this tour several days prior to the tour. The tour has a 24 hour cancellation policy. 12 hours prior to the tour we received a notice the tour has been cancelled due to weather - yet it's beautiful and sunny in Porto. After calling tripadvisor we found out the guide cancelled due to illness. Why didn't the company have a backup driver? Frustrated because if I had been sick the night before, I don't get to cancel (24 hour policy). Frustrated as our locally booked your were way more successful and enjoyable than the TripAdvisor booked tours.
We had a really good time. The Guide was excellent. My only issue with most of these tours are the vans are not overly comfortable. Every seat is full. It is not always easy to hear The Guide and if you’re in the back row of the air-conditioning is not great.
Our guide Miguel did a great job, he picked us up on time and in a comfortable air conditioned van. We went to Coimbra 1st and enjoyed the University there & Miguel explained the history of the city and student life there, he left us free time to walk around and explore on our own all the pedestrian streets and without rushing us. After that, he offered us to go to Cosa Nova, which wasn’t planned in the tour so we could see the colorful houses and even go up to the beach to see it. Thanks much for that!! In Aveiro we enjoyed the river cruise and the he showed us some less touristic places. We enjoyed our time in this tour with Miguel as he did a wonderful job guiding us around. Recommended!
A tour with an "insider", Vasco, who had studied Law at the University of Coimbra and provided plenty of interesting details on this very strategic historial Portuguese University and the town. The cruise in Aveira was also a very interesting canal journey including many distinct buildings and sites. And Vasco took us to a great local resturant for a great local version of seafood paella! A great day tour..!!
This was a very fun and educational tour. David made it super entertaining, and cultural. Im glad we chose this tour instead of going solo.
We had a great trip from Porto to both Coimbra and Aveiro! We didn't know what to expect but it was delightful. I wish our guide had informed us about the shopping and "downtown" area in Aveiro. He dropped us at the restraurant that one of our fellow travellers booked for lunch, then showed us 2 more behind it. If we had gone 2 more blocks, we would have found a plethora of restraurants, shops, and views! Oh well, next time!
Our guide David was so good. We can highly recommend him to anyone.
Wonderful tour. Guide Antonio was knowledgeable and helpful throughout. Coimbra is interesting and historic. Boat ride in Aveiro was relaxing and informative. Lovely day.
Great tour of two very different cities. Our tour guide was excellent. Don’t miss the opportunity to have a good meal
The total group was limited to 7. The tour guide (I think Carla) was very engaging giving us explanation in Spanish and English. A good mix of views and free time.
We had the best time ever. Our tour guide Tiago was amazing, with a lot of knowledge. Definitely recommend.
Intelligent and interesting guide, who was able to arrange the itinerary to fit with the weather conditions. Diego is an excellent guide who made sure we saw all the features of the Coimbra University and surrounding alleys, churches, houses and cafes, and knowing the history behind them. He took us to see the rows of striped houses and over the sand dunes to the beach. Highly recommend any tours he is leading.
Was a very small and individualized group, our tour guide, Carla Alves, was very pleasant and knowledgeable of all topics and fluent in different languages.
David was a knowledgeable guide and we enjoyed his discussion on history, the environment and the local area. We had spectacular day and loved every second. It was a great experience of our 10 year old! The boat trip was the cherry on top! Highly recommend
Great visit to Coimbra and Aveiro. Very relaxing and informative.Lots of interesting things to do and see.
Enjoy a full day exploring two of Portugal's historic gems on the Coimbra & Aveiro Tour. The trip was highlighted by our guide, Tiago, who did a wonderful job providing continuous historical context during the drive from Porto, even facilitating translations for a mixed-language group of three. The first stop, Coimbra, home to the oldest University in Portugal, offered superb architecture and a rich history. After a guided visit, the city was easy to explore independently before heading to Aveiro. This second, quaint and manageable city provided a lovely setting for lunch and a scenic boat ride on the river, where additional historical insights were shared by the onboard guides.
Great guide, Coimbra reallly interesting city. Well worth a visit. Aveira is in parts very attractive. Thought the boat ride was a waste of time. Not much to see
our tour guide Vasco Praca is the best. He’s incredibly friendly and informative. Ask for him by name.
It was good overall. Made for a very long day. David is fantastic. Don't worry if it is raining, you won't melt.
Our tour guide gave us both historical and cultural perspectives to fully appreciate each of our stops. He was kind, helpful and flexible. It was a day well spent exploring Portugal beyond the city life. I will definitely recommend this tour and our guide, Nunu to all our friends.
Unfortunately our guide was a disaster. He was over 30 mins late. Was very dishevelled. Drove erratically - taking both hands off the steering wheel and looking back or at his phone. He did not guide at all - was just a taxi driver and did not offer any structure to the day or information. We did not get our bottle of water as he did not buy it. Very disappointed with the day.
Wow amazing experience. It was our first time visiting Porto and we booked this tour. Vasco our guide showed us around the sights, told us about the area. He gave us so much information, showed us photo spots. He gave us enough time to see around. The library wasn’t included in this trip and we wanted to see it. He made it happen. He even helped us get tickets since site was in Portuguese and we couldn’t understand it. The small group tour made us interact with other passengers and was a very lively time in the van. The van was very comfortable too. We have done many tours and this is so far the best We will highly recommend Vasco the guide. He’s the best. Seven stars to him
This was a long day tour, but very satisfying. Our guide was helpful and knowledgeable. I would have skipped the college museum exhibit.
Maria was an outstanding tour guide combining her love of history with her passion for telling the political story of Portugal over the last two centuries.
Seeing sites is one thing, but having someone to tell you about the history all the while making sure you are comfortable and well cared for is another. Our guide, Bruno was awesome. He was knowledgeable, articulate, engaging, caring and kind. He was tuned in to his guests, what we liked and where we wanted to spend time. He needs to be cloned, because he is a rare find!
Our tour guide Bruno was very friendly and provided full details of the sites. He guided us to the locations and let us experience the sites on our own with an allotted time to meet at a designated spot. Bruno took us to a genuine Portuguese restaurant named Meta dos Leitões in Mealhada which made the best roasted piglets. They were delicious and succulent. It was worth it even though it was not included in the tour. Best out of pocket expense. Aveiro’s boat cruise was colorful, entertaining and relaxing. Bruno also took us to see the striped color houses near the beach coast. The final part of the tour ended in Coimbra with many beautiful historical sites including the university of Coimbra. The admission to the Coimbra library was not included and you’ll need to purchase it online when you are picked up for the tour to coordinate the time slot provided by your tour guide. It was interesting however you cannot take photos of the most beautifully decorated library. It’s awesome and you’ll appreciate it more by taking the time to admire it. Definitely recommend this tour.
David was informative, professional and knowledgeable. Great overview of Aveiro and Coimbra. Relaxed with strolls along the beach and tourist streets. I would have liked to tour Coimbra university and the library.
Maria our tour guide was fantastic and very knowledgeable! Overall, we enjoyed our tour day, especially the Coimbra part. The university including the famous library was a highlight. The full day tour was a little long and we weren’t as crazy about Aveiro. Not a lot to see on the Aveiro river cruise.
Good day trip with a great guide. Just wish we had more time at each stop. We enjoyed the river cruise the most. Small group was great.
Our trip to Coimbra was very good. Tiago our guide was very informative about Coimbra and University. He was friendly and outgoing making sure each member of our group was taken care of. Aveiro was interesting as well and offered great seafood. Definitely a good day.
Our guide Tiago was great. We had a fabulous time. I forgot my phone in his minivan and he brought it back to our hotel in no time. I am so grateful.
The guide was very professional and friendly. We had a great day and we were a small group. The only thing is that I would have liked some more time in Aveiro to get a better idea and explore a bit more. It would be perfect if the tour was 2h longer, I think :)
This was a great day out and Alex was a wonderful guide. He was very informative and was happy to answer any questions. He allowed us sufficient time at each stop for photos, coffee stops etc.
Tiago was both an excellent driver and a multilingual guide__English, French and Spanish! Provided lots of interesting information on Portugal, Porto and Aviero. Suggested great seafood restaurants and yummy gelato too. Managed to accommodate a group ranging in age from 10 to 80 plus. Quite a feat!! Highly recommend!
Small group, very flexible, our tour guide, Tiago, is very nice and helpful, recommend him if you want to join this tour.
I had such a nice time visiting Costa Nova to see the striped houses and then to Averio, the “Venice” of Portugal where my group took a canal boat ride. Then, onto historic Coimbra which was Portugal’s capital (from 1139 to 1256), it is one of the country’s most historic cities, famous for its university, which is one of Europe’s oldest (it was founded in 1290)! My tour guide, Carla was so helpful translating between Portuguese and English effortlessly the whole day. Also, I goofed with the start time, and she made sure I was able to join up with the group and not miss my tour due to my own error. Even though it was a very hot day, I enjoyed all of the sights of these interesting areas of Portugal, and was glad that I did it with this tour group instead of trying to navigate all of the stops on my own. What a relief to rejoin my air conditioned minivan after each stop. Top marks!!
You’ll have about 2 hours to explore the university on your own There is no guided walking tour of the historic center of the city It’s a small group tour (up to… people)
Okay trip but didn’t tell us we needed tickets for library so couldn’t go in. Otherwise guide nice and excursion pleasant.
António was an excellent guide for our day trip to Coimbra and the area. He was patient and very knowledgeable, offering insights and advice along the way. We didn't feel rushed and saw everything we wanted to see.
This was a very nice tour to Coimbra and Aveiro. Carla was our excellent, knowledgeable and super helpful guide! Highly recommend this tour!
David was excellent - he managed to speak in two different languages and was very good at describing the landscape and history. He was also a very good driver. The boat trip in Averia was excellent and plenty of spare time at each location. Overall the trip was excellent. My only gripe is with TripAdviser who accepted my booking for a Sunday trip knowing that it didnt happen on Sunday. We were forced to go a day early and had to rearrange our bookings to suit. Also, we didn’t know about the university or library inclusions so did not have tickets for these.
Central location in Porto for meeting point. Guide was helpful, clear instructions and provided relevant information about the location
