We had a memorable visit to Santiago de Compostela Portugal with our Living Tours Guide Bernardo. He picked us up on time; his van was clean and comfortable, and our journey both ways was safe. He arranged for a wonderful lunch and actually joined us while we ate in Santiago. Most importantly, Bernardo was extremely knowledgeable concerning the history of the El Camino, the Cathedral of St. James, the City of Santiago de Compostela, Portuguese and Spain Culture, and a variety of other subjects discussed. He is fluid in three languages, very colorful and humorous, and simply a very nice man. We cannot recommend him any more than simply superb in all respects.
Our guide Orlando ensured an excellent itinerary with the right stops: directions to points of interest and rendezvous-vous times that were just right. The itinerary was followed exactly and there was enough time for personal exploration and shopping. We enjoyed the museum at the Cathedral and a leisurely walk around. The visit to Valença do Minho on our return to Portugal was charming - a village within a fortification. We were lucky to see traditional dancers perform in the square. The textiles for sale were of excellent quality.
Great experience with Bruno and Maykel
Very nice trip. Tour guide Diego and Franco were very helpful and made the trip a wonderful experience .
Excellent tour with Susie - very well informed and a fun guide made the experience very worthwhile
What a fabulous day! Our fuide, Miguel, was phenomenal. A wealth of knowledge of some much and very approachable. Spain's landscape was beautiful and the city of Santiago was so unique. Food was amazing!!! Valencia was lovely. Best day. Don't miss as it is so worth the time.
The tour guide/ driver is Orlando. He is very nice. Answered lots of questions not related to the tour. Would recommend. So far all the tours I had with living tours and e.fun tours at all good. Can’t complain
Very pleasant trip in a small group of 8 tourists. We explored, listened to the masses, had lunch. Valensa is a very beautiful place, a longer stay would be welcome. Special congratulations to our guide Manuel, who was a perfect driver and guide!
One of the hardest things about traveling with young kids is keeping them involved. Nuno did a great job making it fun and entertaining for everyone. Would definitely recommend this trip. Santiago is truely one of those once in a lifetime places.
Valdemar was our tour guide and - wow - what a great job he did! The tour was well organized and instructions were clear for departure. The tour left on time. Valdemar explained the history of the areas we drove through, most of the way to Santiago. His knowledge is extensive and my husband, who enjoys history, asked many questions which Valdemar always answered with enjoyment. His meeting up instructions were always clear so were knew where and when to meet him. It’s our first exposure to Living Tours and Get Your Guide but it won’t be our last, thanks to Valdemar!
I had Valdemar as my tour guide and he was just lovely!!! Can only recommend. He was very detailed in the explanation and gave us enough time to explore.
Excellent tour - very informative and interesting w very good tour guide - Paulo. Had a great time! Well managed trip. Lots of interesting facts and information and covered a lot of ground w the time alloted
We would like to thank Valdemar our tour guide for a great day out. Many thanks for such an informative and professional service .
Wonderful trip with Mario Pinto our guide who was very good! Trip to Santiago de Compostela was beautiful and so much to see and do. Our included lunch was delicious and lots of food! The visit to Valenca was so nice it is a beautiful and unique place. Don’t miss this tour specially if you get Mario!
The guide was terrific. It was raining but he made it worth our time. Very informative We would love to have this guide again
It’s a very comprehensive tour of Santiago de Compostela and Valenca de minho. We availed of the tour package with lunch. It’s better to do the tour without lunch, so that you’d have more time to go around Santiago. The lunch wasn’t really very special either. It was good, but it was okay and we could’ve done without it. If you want to go to the crypt of St. james the apostle, make sure to allot some time because there’s a line going in. Valença do minho is a small town on the border of Spain and Portugal that offers a nice view of the Spanish countryside. Our tour guide Paulo was very knowledgeable about the place and our driver Sergio was excellent. All in all, it’s a tour worth booking.
Our guides Paul & Tiago were great! They made it a fun learning experience. I recommend adding lunch to the package as the tapas/wines were delicious and it helped us bond with other tourists. We definitely plan on returning.
Very very nice tour and a very kindness and professional guide Jose Luis and driver Vitor. We spent a very intersting moment and we learn lots about Santiago of Compostela
We thoroughly enjoyed our day trip to Santiago de Compostela. Our guide, Paulo was excellent, very knowledgeable, easy going and willing to answer any questions. We enjoyed three hours free time in Santiago de Compostela, the cathedral visit is a must, we had a look around the town and park and found a super spot for lunch. On the way back to Porto we visited Fortaleza de Valença and spent 45 minutes looking around the fortress, very interesting to see. Our journey back to Porto was quick and Paulo kindly dropped us off near where we were staying as it was raining. In summary a very enjoyable day and our guide Paulo is highly recommended by us.
Very interesting tour with excellent guide. Andrea Vidal, our guide enrich us with his knowledge About Santiago de Compostela and Valenca.
Daniel was an amazing guide and driver!!! We enjoyed our day with him and his wonderful insight on all the sights. Personable, knowledgeable and engaging😊 Although it was a long car trip it flew by and we were sad to see it end!!
Expertly driven by Goncalo to the wonderful city of Santiago de Compostela passing through the Green Valley en route. We heard many legends and stories of the different regions as we drove along. All the descriptions en route were great. We were guided by Goncalo to the very centre of the square opposite the cathedral. Santiago de Compostela is well worth a visit and we were not disappointed by its magnificent architecture and history. The cathedral tour was provided by a Spanish guide due to restrictions of Portuguese nationals working as guides in Spain. Goncalo met up with us and joined us post tour. He was most attentive and courteous and a credit to Living Tours.
We had a great day. Paulo was a very knowledgeable guide and Novais was the most amazing driver. Hats off to the bus drivers.
This was an amazing day from start to finish. Greetings upon our arrival at the tour office was friendly. We had driver Tiago F and guide Tiago S. Tiago was very knowledgeable and answered any questions we had along the way. It was a well spent day using this tour company. Angela
Our guide Paul and Manuel our driver were great! They handled the whole bus breaking down with calm and professionalism. I felt bad for them to work for company who do ensure the safety of your employees and customers. What if there is a more severe issue that our driver was not able to fix while he was driving? It’s astonishing that you do not ensure the bus meets all the safety standards before allowing it to go on the road with 24 people. It’s too bad we missed the mass at the Santiago de Compestella Cathedral due to the bus breaking down. That’s why I gave it 4 stars. The lunch was delicious from the starter to the dessert! Great tour!
We had an excellent tour, our guide Paul is very knowledgeable and made the tour very enjoyable. I recommend it 100%. Thank you
Paul and Dario were fantastic. It was a great day! We loved so much this tour, that now we are planning to spend some days in Santiago de Compostela.
Alexandre is a fabulous host! He brought the history of Portugal, Galicia, and Santiago De Compostela alive in a compelling and enthusiastic manner. He anticipated our every need and was thoughtful, courteous, humorous, and friendly. It was a memory making trip and we are grateful to him!
Paulo was wonderful! He was professional and fun! We had a great time. I would recommend this tour to everyone and it would be best if Paulo was your tour guide
The Santiago and Valença do Minho tour was well organized, on time, affordable, and overall a wonderful experience that we would highly recommend. If you desire a day-trip overview, this tour is for you. We opted to meet at the Living Tours office, which was very easy to find. Our tour departed Porto precisely on time, and the maximum eight-passenger tour van provided a fun and intimate experience that one of the large tour buses could never do. After giving us a complete agenda for the day, our amazing guide Tiago engaged with all of the passengers, provided great information on Portuguese history, cuisine, traditions, language, and of course lots of info. on Santiago and the camino walk. He was able to get all the passengers talking, laughing, and enjoying the drive to Santiago. Tiago was very professional and passionate about his work, and it showed. He also provided everyone with a map of Santiago on which he had circled his recommendations of places to visit and viewpoints from which to get the best photos; those suggestions were very useful. After arriving in Santiago, we had 90 minutes of free time to visit the cathedral square, visit another church, wander through the streets, do a little shopping, take photos, and for those who desired to attend mass (which may not always be possible if there is a large group of camino pilgrims). We skipped the mass and enjoyed discovering the beautiful town; moreover, we were very happy to have the time free to explore on our own. We opted to include lunch in our tour, as did all but one in our group, and the 1:00 meal at the Cotolay restaurant was delicious: a starter of fish soup or traditional Galician soup and bread; followed by a fresh green salad; then a selection of tapas; a choice of red or white wine; a slice of Santiago cake and espresso. We would highly recommend paying for the meal as part of the tour, as many of the restaurants were jammed packed. Following lunch, we had additional time to complete our visit and take any last photos. We felt the tour and time spent in Santiago was a perfect overview of this amazing historical city. Our guide, Tiago, then drove us to the fortified city of Valença do Minho located in Portugal near the boarder with Spain. Tiago gave us a brief van tour through the city, then parked in order to give everyone some time to explore the ramparts, shops and cafes on our own; plenty of time since the walled city is small. Back in Porto, we were dropped off at the Living Tours office. This tour is a must, especially if you are lucky to have Tiago as your guide, and we highly recommend it.
A thoroughly fabulous day. We were picked up at the scheduled time and headed for Spain. Our driver was terrific and very knowledgeable. Upon arrival in Santiago de Compostela we were treated to a great lunch and then headed off on our walking tour. The cathedral was incredible! It is enormous! Inside it is spectacular. It is very moving to see so many pilgrims both inside and outside of the cathedral. Our walking tour also included a couple of other churches, and the mediaeval parts of the ancient city. Our return drive to Porto included a stop in Valenca. We were pleasantly surprised by the delightful village, inside the old walls, an absolutely lovely town.
Had a great day in Santiago de Compostela. Even if you’re not religious it’s worth visiting. Lunch is included and is a typical Galician lunch you have time to visit the cathedral and museum and after lunch visit the trinket shops. We visited the fort at Valença on the way back and had 45 mins there. Valdemar looked after us and we had a great day out seeing something a little bit different.
Lovely City, the Cathedral is fabulous and the food was very yummy! David was a very informative guide. Thanks Living Tours!
The company is very organized, punctual and reliable. The purchase experience was easy and uncomplicated. Our guide Antonio Bras was very professional, always on time, drove us safely, and let us know some quick curiosities about the places we were visiting. Regarding the tour itself, I felt they were very basic and simple, I missed a proper tour guide able to explain the historical, cultural and architectural side of Santiago. Later on, people explained to me that professional tour guides in Portugal can't perform in Spain, a bit confusing but we understood why we spent 3h wandering around the city without much information. I would suggest a bit of research before going to Santiago so you don't feel lost not knowing where to start in order to maximize your time in the city. But overall, I recommend the company and Antonio. :)
Antonio Bras did an excellent job!!! He was on time with the pickup and was very professional, friendly, and very knowledgeable about the place we went..he spent time in explaining the history of Santiago De Compostela... he entertained us with the music selections he played on the way back...never a dull moment with Antonio...he's an excellent driver...
The driver was punctual picking up us at the hotel. During the trip he gave us a detail explanation about the history of Santiago de Compostela and valenza do Minho.
Very well organized tour to Santiago de Compostela. Maximum of 8 people per tour guide. My guide was Antonio Bras and he wonderful. While my ticket did not include lunch, he let me join the group (I paid separately). Learning about his experiences and where he's travelled to 92 countries was fascinating! I enjoyed his playlist on the way there and back!
The guide, Orlando, gave clear explanations in easy-to-understand English. It was a comfortable long-distance tour with safe driving and good time management. I want to come back to Camino someday.
Super fun day with Mario as driver He had to do this trip unexpectedly because the one who had to didn't show up He had a lot to say about santiago de Compostela And also on the way there was a lot to see where he told all sorts of things
The guide Mario Pinto was very fun and attentive! He asked if we had arrived on time to attend the Mass in Santiago de Compostela. The van was super comfortable and his tips in Santiago de Compostela were great too! On the way he also explained very well about Valença do Minho and was super kind giving us other tips of Porto! Great Cost benefit for those who want to make a hit and back
Very nice and interesting tour, mainly due to the Guia Orlando that showed excellence in information, including historical ... I recommend!!!
All good, nothing to add.Perfect
Tour 22.10.2025 Guide Pedro Costa and driver Nuno. Good performance, communication ability and interest in history and provide the best possible Service. Cons: not inclusion of collective fast lunch, limitation of time for cultural and religious visits. Tips: more time available, fast lunch for everyone.
I loved this journey, spiritual journey. I came with the feeling of inner peace. Very good. The guide Carlos does an excellent job at all levels, . The friendly and professional Driver Franco.
The organization is very good. The "time and hours"! The guide, Anabela is very well explained and friendly. The driver, sir. Jose, very quiet and attentive to his work. We had a less good , very rainy day but I liked it very much . The city of Galicia is very beautiful and Santiago de Compostela (cathedral, because it was the only thing I saw) is surreal! The least positive is even the time of and travel and the little time in Santiago de Compostela.
Very nice to know the last stop of the pilgrims, Santiago de Compostela and Valença do Minho with the great guide Valdemar.
The Miguel, Guide and Mr. Iron were excellent, the day was very profitable, no runs, we saw many attractions, all organized by Miguel. He is fluent in English, Spanish and even Brazilian Portuguese. And you know a lot of history.
I really enjoyed with Orlando the guide and Nono the driver. We were on a tour of the vineyard, a cruise and a lavish lunch. There is no shortage of wine and I had a vegetarian option for the meal. Orlando had fun.
Valdemar is an excellent Guide. We hired the tour in Spanish but since we were accompanied by other passengers who spoke only English, with the help of Valdemar we could enjoy the tour in both languages. Santiago de Compostela and its history of wonder and Valensa a historic site walled and with sales of original fabrics from Portugal at a good price, not to be missed by any Traveler. Really highly recommended this tour
