Our tour to the Douro was hosted by Douro First tours. It was the best wine tour we have ever experienced. Our tour was managed by Nuno Lisboa. He was a fantastic guide on the day. His knowledge and insight into the history and culture of this famous region is first class. He made our experience very special and is very attentive and friendly. We have experienced wine tours all over the world but this tour to the Douro was by far the best. We visited superb viewpoints, a wonderful tasting experience at Quinta Seara d’Ordends, a traditional boat trip and the most memorable lunch in the owners kitchen. The lunch was absolutely delicious and Andrea is a brilliant chef. We had lots of local delicacies and steaks cooked on a real fire. Thank you Jose and Andrea. The whole experience was absolutely amazing and Nuno made it very special. Thank you again. Steve & Sarah.

Itinerary
The most sought-after panoramic viewpoint in the region is one of the highlights of this tour, with the Douro river always present on the horizon, and we easily let ourselves be buzzed with so many terraced vineyards.
One of the proposals of this itinerary is the proof of the best oils, because of the stony land of the Douro not only good wines come out. Olive oil has a unique flavor and several health benefits, which is why it is essential in the gastronomy of the region. But of course, the best and most delicate Douro wines will be part of your day, in a wonderful Gold wine tasting.
Let yourself be enchanted by the exquisite lunch we have to offer you, so that you can enjoy the typical flavors in the heart of the Douro.
Enjoy wonderful views aboard the traditional Rabelo boat in the heart of the Douro River. (Private Boat adds 250€)
And next to the Douro is the most beautiful railway station of the region, built in the 17th century. XIX, which displays, in 24 tile panels, the different stages of Port wine production.

This was our favorite experience and tour we did in Portugal. The private tour was just me and my husband in a beautiful and comfortable car. Our driver Nani was AMAZING. So friendly and really seems to care about making your tour great. I highly recommend this tour.
Porto Informative and Delightful Tour 973393130 My granddaughter and husband had visited Porto a few years ago and enthusiastically recommended Alfredo at tourvent. My friends and I were going to Porto and contacted him. Extraordinary! He picked us up at 8:30 am and took us to the Douro Valley. Along the way, he described the uniqueness of the Valley. We toured a vineyard with Alfredo and the vineyard owner, enjoyed a wine tasting, went to another to sample some ports, had a lovely lunch at a scenic inn and restaurant, cruised a portion of the Douro, had a final wine tasting, and before we knew it, it was 7:30 pm. Time flew! We’d go again, and we enjoyed every minute. Alfredo is a wonderful, kind, and interesting guide. Well worth learning about this area with him to guide you.
We spent the day with Jaou and it was quite entertaining! He has a vast knowledge of Douro Valley, both the history (test him - you won’t be dissapointed) as well as the wineries. He made sure to stop and give us opportunities to take many scenic photos and fill us in on the coordinating history of that location. The winery we visited was Quinta Seara d’Ordens. It’s a multigenerational family owned winery with many options to please the most discerning of palettes. We had lunch at Quinta De La Rosa and it was delectable. He is personable and truly seemed to enjoy what he does. He made the day memorable for us! If you don’t want to be shuttled around like cattle, the private tour is the way to go!
Thank you to Joao. We started our full first day/visit to Porto with a vineyard tour. Joao provided us with an enjoyable and educational trip. The drive, the food, the wine tasting and the company was exceptional and memorable. One of our cell phones was left behind by accident and Joao immediately reached out and brought it to us. We highly recommend this tour to others, especially if you are looking for a personal experience. Joao was very knowledgeable about Portugal, its history, the people, the food and the wines. Giving Joao a 10 star review. Respectfully, Michael and Amy USA, Connecticut
THIS IS NOT A SMALL GROUP TOUR… I feel all the people involved were great - the driver , the wine cellars etc- but we felt mislead. We were made to believe that a max of 6-8 people travel together , and have a small boat experience, followed by an intimate lunch and time to walk around in the valley/ village. However; the boat had about 80-100 people and our family got separated and it was like a green house in the glass enclosure; the lunch - although a beautiful setting was with a big noisy groups of other people in similar tours … In all I wish we were made aware of these - so we could have chosen a more quiet and intimate trip.
Wonderful day! Nany was our guide. He was excellent, informative and great company. Lunch was superb and exceeded our expectations. My only recommendation is to skip the river boat ride. It did not add value to the experience but rather detracted from the overall loveliness of the day.
The tour was to be from 9.00am to 7.00pm. A premium tour with wine and olive tasting. Lunch with wine tasting and a boat trip. We were picked up at the hotel at 8.45am by a nice polite gentleman called Pedro. Zero complaints about him. He informed us that lunch would be around 3.00pm. Yikes! First stop olive oil and wine tasting. One olive oil poured into a glass with a little bread I would not call that a tasting. They should have at least 3 or 4 options. Next the wine tasting with 5 wines and the same glasses being reused over and over. Once again not a true tasting! Lunch with wine tasting? Do you want a glass of red or white? Once again not a tasting! Lunch was not even in Douro but had some relative's farm house. Boat trip was okay but very crowded. We got dropped off at the hotel at 5.00pm. All this for 160 Euros per person. Stay in Porto for your wine tastings but I have to admit that the Valley is very scenic.
One of the best private tours we have ever taken in Europe. Comfortable van, great wine, all amenities taken care of by an outstanding guide,Nani. Nani is an expert on the Douro valley, seems to know everyone , regardless of where we went and we went all over. The lunch & grape stomping at Quinta Da Zinhara was fantastic. Ended with a nice river cruise and more Porto. We would highly recommend this tour company, worth every Euro. Get Nani if you can, he is terrific!
José collected us at 9 am in his spotless comfortable 9 seater van. He was a perfect guide with lots of stories and has a wonderful knowledge of wine and the Douro Valley. We visited 2 vineyards both of which were excellent and in beautiful locations. Our boat trip was very enjoyable and we were the only ones treated to another glass of port wine and a pastry. Lovely touch... The only thing that was disappointing was the lunch. Otherwise it was a fantastic trip, worth the price for the personal service which you would not get on a big tour. The Douro Valley is a magnificent place. Thank you José.
This was our perfect day in Douro. Ricardo was an excellent host, great knowledge of the area and each stop was worth it, no time wasters. Lunch at Doc was superb as was the tasting at the Quinta. Go for it, splash the cash, we would do it again.
Outstanding private tour of the Douro Valley - one of the most beautiful places in Europe! Our guide, David, was very knowledgeable of the history and geography of the area as well Douro wines. He provided excellent customer service. Highly recommended!
We had such a great time on the tour Douro First tour! David was an incredible tour guide who was very knowledgeable on the wines and the region - highly recommend this tour to anyone traveling to the Douro Valley!
The did the private Douro valley tour from Porto and it was amazing and good value. Our guide Nuno was great and very knowledgeable, we first traveled to a sightseeing location above the valley the view were great, then we were taken to a vineyard for a tasting, but it was not your average tasting because we were on a private tour we were taken into a very nice room where Marcus presented the wine & ports. Great experience, then we were taken for lunch at DOC, this was great with the drinks pairing included. Then we were taken on a river cruise and joined by other parties, the Douro First guests were treated with port & a local pastry which was a nice surprise. Then it was back to the hotel, overall a great 9 1/2 hour experience. Would highly recommend it.
This was a lovely private tour through the Douro Valley via car and boat. Our driver was friendly and extremely informative. The vineyard for the wine tasting was amazing. I'm now a port wine lover. Lunch at DOC was superb. This is the perfect wine tasting day trip from Porto.
I made the tour with my wife, but unfortunately, I started to feel a bit sick, and I couldn't enjoy all the perks offered by the tour. But, even though, I had such a situation, the staff (Nuno and Célia) were giving me support through all the tour to try to make me feel better... they are the best tour guides that I have the chance to be with... they even found me a medicine that made me feel better and I could carry on up to the end of the tour!!! I truly recommend the tour, not only for the experience that is great but for the kind staff that will provide you with a UNIQUE experience!
Amazing tour! Went with my husband on our honeymoon and this tour was the best part of the trip. Amazing wine, history, boat ride and even a dessert on board! DO NOT MISS this tour if going to Porto. Amazing service and great tour guide.
We can visit Douro Valley by the books, photos and boat cruises... And we can (and may) go there with DOURO FIRST: the best way to see and feel the warm and at the same time the roughness of Douro Valley way of life and its beauties. . Fantastic our Driver/Guide with a fluent, fun and gentle conversation; . Wonderful the homemade lunch in a local farm; . Out of breath, the landscape above the river Douro and during the van driving; . Amazing the little boat cruise in the river; . And at last, the excelent experience with the wines we taste! I totally recommend Douro First!
We attended the Wine Tasting and Lunch Tour today, as part of our honeymoon in Portugal, and we thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Our guide, Nuno, picked us up from our hotel and was with us all day. He provided a lot of insight into the Douro region, wine-making and local culture in general. We absolutely enjoyed sampling wine and port directly from the producers, and were able to purchase products to take home at a great price. We were also treated to lunch by the lovely Dora, who welcomed us and made us feel like part of the family. A river cruise in the late afternoon was a lovely way to conclude the tour, and we enjoyed some beautiful sights accompanied by a glass of port and local pastries. COVID safety protocols were followed at all times, which made us feel very reassured. Well done to Douro Tours for professional, friendly and safe experience, and to Nuno for a very pleasant and memorable day! Michela & David
Wanted to give credit to this company for their exemplary service in booking then having to cancel due to new travel restrictions. They gave us a full refund and their communication was excellent. I would recommend as trustworthy wherever you are booking from. Cannot wait to thank them in person when we next get to visit Porto!
we were picked up from the hotel at 10 am A great day out - nice drive wonderful wine and port tasting. All authentic family-run friendly dogs outside Lunch was in a small new hotel/guest house - lunch was homemade and served in a quaint country kitchen. Picked lemons and oranges from trees The trip down the Douro river was great - the weather was sunny and warm Idyllic - I can't thank Filip enough He was so knowledgeable and nothing was any trouble for him Great guy! thank you
We had a great day with Pedro Madeira, our guide who brought us to the Douro Valley from Porto. It takes 100 km to arrive at the Valley, so be prepared for a long day. Pedro was the perfect host for this trip, we owe him many thanks. Wine tasting, an excellent lunch was part of the experience. We look back at a great event. Bear in mind, however, that this is advertised as a private tour, and it is not!!
We thoroughly enjoyed our Douro First Tour from Porto by car to the Douro Valley. We were a group of four, joined by another group of two. Our driver and guide Philip was just amazing as our host for the day – incredibly hospitable, polite and knowledgeable. He knew so much about the valley, its history, and beyond. He offered many nice touches that made the day very special and one to remember. We highly recommend the Douro First tour of the Douro Valley and especially if you have the opportunity to have Philip as your guide. The day was a highlight in our nine day trip to Portugal!
This was a great tour. Our guid, Philip is very knowledgeable with a great sense of humor. He kept us laughing and learning all day. Tour incorporated a boat ride along the Douro which was accompanied by more port wine. Can highly recommend this tour and particularly Philip
Very informative, very nice tour. The only complain we have is the size of the minivan. 7 people were squeezed in - and we got in the last row, which was quite tight for my husband. We got car sick by the end of the trip.
I would highly recommend this outing, with wine testing and a beautiful boat ride. I would also recommend buying some olive oil while at the winery, it is soooo goood. We were picked up, on time, at our hotel. Our driver, Pedro, was delightful and very attentive. He was really very knowledge about wine and the region. He was also a very safe driver. It is a full day, wine and olive oil tasting, then to a panoramic viewpoint, then Pedro, preordered our lunch, which was ready when we got to our next wineries. Lovely lunch under a canapé of trees. Then we went on our boat tour and then back to the hotel...it was a full fabulous Day
I cannot recommend this one day tour of the Douro more highly. A wonderful combination of delicious Port wine tastings, an excellent lunch and a tour of the stunning Douro region. Our guide was Pedro whose knowledge and company tuned a very good tour into an excellent one. Thank you Pedro for such an enjoyable day. This was the highlight of our trip to Porto!
Paolo was amazing!! He was articulate, fun and took us to amazing wineries!! I would definitely go with Paolo!!! He picked us up at our hote- van was immaculate!!
Loved the views and the wine tasting, also great service from Jose Ricardo and the whole team, really recommend it!
We had a lovely tour of the valley with our expert and friendly tour guide, Pedro who went above and beyond!
This is one of the best tours we have ever done. Paolo our host was fantastic and the whole thing was do much fun. We would thoroughly recommend it!
Paulo picked us up at our hotel at 9AM as promised, and we did not return until about 7:30 PM. The Douro Valley experience was pleasing to all our senses, and the added bonus was all the information that Paulo imparted to us. His personal history and that of the region gave us a true understanding of life in the Valley.
Nuno was our guide. Very knowledgeable and personable young man. Scenery was spectacular and we would certainly recommend this tour.
This tour far exceeded my expectations. Great value for the price. Our guide, Nuno, was very knowledgeable and personable. Lunch was a three course meal with wine at a lovely restaurant. Wine tastings were at small, family owned wineries. Never felt rushed. Bring your camera because the views are amazing.
After considering various tours of the Douro we opted for the Premium Private tour with lunch and two winery visits. We were so happy we did. Nuno arrived at the hotel on time in his comfortable minibus and took great care of us and the small, friendly group we were in. He could not have been more helpful, knowledgeable and considerate, Nuno made the day special. The boat trip and visits were good fun and an excellent lunch with wines was far more than we expected. If you are in the region and wanting to get an idea of how beautiful this region is then you could not do better than this tour.
Paulo’s story is unique and very interesting I would love to return just to spend time with him in his own vineyard. His knowledge of the wine industry is incredible. We started off with a lesson on cork production next to a recently harvested cork tree, then off to our first port tasting at a modern style producer followed by a great lunch in a hip/funky wine bar. The next tasting was a very traditional style producer where I was able to try a port from my birth year (wow that won’t happen again) it was nice to see and taste from very different styles. We then stopped at a fantastic scenic overlook of the Douro river valley, a photographers dream. We finished the day with a port tasting on an old wooden boat while cruising on the Douro. What a great way to end a perfect tour. What really put it over the top was Paulo’s english, i could ask detailed questions that he would answer in even greater detail. We are looking forward to returning next year.
Ricardo was a wonderful guide. He explained so much about the region and provided a great history of it. Fortunately, the weather was really nice (if not a little chilly) but the boat ride (with a wine taste and pastry) was lovely. There was fog when we went up to Casal de Loivos, but it was still a very pretty view. The wine tasting and lunch were fantastic choice. It's an excellent way to see parts of the country outside of the city.
Took on the full day Douro Valley tour and had a great time. Picked up from the hotel and taken out to one of the most picturesque tours I have seen around the world; and I have been fortunate to have seen a lot. Our guide Nuno was very accommodating and friendly. He lives in the area and is quite knowledgable with the sites, history and produce from the valley! He even treated us to a 50 year old Tawny Port; something you don't always get to do on a tour like this! We were with a small group (6 in this instance but it can go up to 8). It was a fun group and we all were very flexible taking in the boat trip, wineries and lunch. Definitely recommend this!
First of all Paulo was the best guide! Better than we expected. The combination of his personality and vast knowledge of the area made for a unique experience touring the Douro Valley. We were lucky and booked 2 consecutive days with Paulo. The meals we had, were absolutely the best of our 2 week visit to Portugal. If we had attempted this visit to Douro on our own, we would have missed so much! Thank you Paulo!! Till we meet again!
This tour was the highlight of our trip to Porto. The guide spoke with such passion about his home region of Douro that he makes you feel part of it. We visited a couple of great wineries, a fantastic home cooked lunch and finally a river tour. Again - highly recommended - you will not be disappointed.
First of all I must say "Douro First Tours " is the Best if you wish to explore douro Valley and enjoy at it best with comfort. Absolutely awesome tour!! Can’t say enough great things about our tour guide Ricardo. We visited two wine yards, had lunch at a wonderful restaurant, enjoyed a boat ride, and stopped at beautiful overlooks for the magnificent views. I can't also emphasize enough how patient Ricardo was to allow us to take as many pictures as we could. He made sure we enjoyed this tour and stopped any place we wanted. He picked us up at our hotel and on our way to the Douro we learned so much about the history of the area and admired the natural beauty of the mountains.I recommend this tour to anyone who has a passion for adventure and of course wine! Thanks Ricardo for this wonderful experience.
My family and I consisting of 17, visited the Duoro Valley with guides and owners Paulo and Jose for Easter Sunday. Our guides were so passionate and knowlegable of wines and especially the Duoro Valley Region. They were the most attentive and personable guides ever and even after one of our members left their camera in the car, they drove 2 hours to return it to us. I recommend this tour to anyone who has a passion for adventure and of course wine!
Duoro first was recommended by our concierge, Fermino at the Sheraton in Porto, and it could not have been a better choice. On our tour (Nov 8th, 2017) with Poalo we felt not like tourist being driven around, but like guests in Poalo’s home country. He picked us up at our hotel and on our way to the Duoro we learned so much about the history of the area and admired the natural beauty of the mountains. We visited 2 small family owned wineries and an olive oil mill and had a fantastic lunch and a boat tour up the river. Our day in the Duoro with Poalo was one of the absolute highlights of our trip to Spain and Portugal (Oct-Nov)and I can’t recommend this tour highly enough. Poalo’s knowledge and love for the area and its history and culture was the best part of this amazing trip. I can't also emphasize enough how patient Poalo was to allow us to take as many pictures as we could. He never rushed us even though we were running behind. He made sure we enjoyed this tour and stopped any place we wanted. We apologize for not writing this earlier as we were still traveling until the end of November but believe us that to this day, this is the first highlight we share of our 6 week trip with all of our family and friends. We are so looking forward to planning another trip with Paolo and this time for longer length of time so that we can really enjoy the Duoro even further.
Fantastic! From the beginning, the Nuno stands out for its professionalism and attention to detail, ensuring that every moment of our trip was perfect. The visit to the farm was one of the highlights, where the wine supply stands out for the quality and authenticity of the wines. At lunch, we were warmly received by José, whose hospitality made us feel like part of the family. To complete, the boat ride through the Douro was simply stunning, with breathtaking scenery. I highly recommend Douro First for those looking for a service of excellence and a truly memorable experience! Certainly to repeat and recommend to all!!!
Spectacular. A city that I would return to many more times. The people are very helpful and warm. The food is excellent and at a very good price. The wines are of the first order. Guide Helder's service was fantastic
Just amazing!!! Other world landscapes, amazing company, and equally amazing gastronomy. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!
Great activity. Beautiful taste and visual discoveries The guides are super friendly and are with us from start to finish.. Walking on the Douro great. Plus, got a nice bottle of port as a present on my birthday. Thanks to the whole team. Muito obrigada Emmanuelle
It was an amazing day to enjoy our wonderful gold, accompanied by an excellent team and with a lot of professionalism!
The knowledge of the activity binds and gastronomic of the region and the sympathy and availability of the guide. I advise you to experience these good moments!
Incredible experience and to repeat without a doubt!! José Ricardo with a knowledge like he had never seen about the Douro, and about wines. Unforgettable lunch with Dona Dora, food to cry for more. The whole experience is really worth it! I highly recommend to all those who like unique and memorable experiences!
