He was knowledgeable and took us to a great cafe/pastry shop, a couple of family wineries, and we had lunch at a wonderful venue. He was super flexible and accommodating for our group. To all the read this, please know if you want the experience of Douro Valley and all its wonders you must book with HUGO at Let’s Kombi. My personal preference was to book a private tour (4 in our group) which started with a pick up in Porto in a proper Mercedes Benz van. Hugo’s itinerary included a stop at close to the midway point for some coffee and pastry, at a village that was absolutely stunning. Hugo was absolutely amazing. He knows the region and the people and families that are there cultivating the grapes and making the wine. The wine tastings in our small group were perfect, then lunch in between the tastings was phenomenal. Hugo drove us to heart of Douro and it was jaw-dropping. Go and experience this beautiful land and region, but I promise you that you will appreciate it much more by not driving yourself or even being on a bus with 25 other people. I hope I find myself back there and have another opportunity to utilize the wonderful services that Hugo provides. Let’s Kombi.

We had an incredible day exploring the Douro Valley with Hugo! We experienced delicious coffee and sweets in Amarante, visited quaint family-owned wineries, dined on an authentic Portuguese lunch in an old schoolhouse, and ended with a beautiful boat ride. Hugo is incredibly knowledgeable about Portuguese culture, history, and wine, especially Port and all its varieties. He answered all our questions and made the day feel personal and engaging. This is one of those experiences you want to share with your friends. While you live it, and when you get home and share the best moments of your vacation with those who weren't there. Besides the great planning sightseeing the Douro Valley and visiting the wineries, our guide Hugo was 5 stars. He's a fun guy with great knowledge and also really knows the road and hidden gems. And makes us comfortable. I definitely recommend it!

We also enjoyed a relaxing boat cruise on the Douro River, which was the perfect way to wind down and take in the views before the drive back to Porto. The Duoro valley was so much bigger and beautiful than we expected! We visited 2 different wineries that were focused on making Port, and they were both excellent and had different styles. If possible, I'd suggest a later start time than 8am. That is very early especially if you have adjusted to Portugal dining time which is 9pm, after sunset! And FYI, it is about a 60-75 minute drive.

After booking Hugo’s Porto tour in his Kombi VW van, which was thoroughly enjoyed by me and my wife, my two boys (11 and 13), and my 82 year old dad, we decided to book Hugo again for his Douro Valley tour. We all ended up befriending Hugo (especially my father - oh boy he and Hugo sure did chat about VWs and classic cars while my dad rode shotgun). The Douro Valley trip was an amazing day! A short stop in beautiful Amarante then onto two wineries hand picked by Hugo that entertained the whole family, a Portuguese feast for lunch, amazing views, great wine, and a cool short boat ride. His driving skills were put to the test in both Porto and Douro and I was so glad to have him behind the wheel. We appreciated his driving skills and personal attention and insider knowledge so much that we asked if he’d consider creating a van tour of the Galicia region of Spain just over the border. Let me tell you - Hugo picked some beautiful spots for the Galicia trip including an amazing waterfront seafood lunch. We otherwise would have rented a car and wouldn’t have been able to enjoy the Douro Valley or Galicia or find the hidden spots as much as we were with Hugo leading the way. If you are looking for a one of a kind tour of Douro Valley, Porto or the surrounding area with a guide passionate about the region, book Hugo! A+ 5 stars.

Hugo provided us with a fantastic experience in the Douro Valley. He was knowledgeable, kind and a joy to spend the day with. The views, food and Quinta visits were great. The day ended with a peaceful and beautiful boat ride on the Duoro.

We loved our 1 day experience to the Douro Valley. Our guide, Hugo was simply wonderful. He was so helpful with my wife especially who has a bad leg. The two wineries he took us to, were smaller and very quaint with wonderful, friendly hosts. The views were spectacular. We also enjoyed our first stop for a coffee break in Amarante. As well as a nice lunch in a traditional Portuguese restaurant. The day ended with a nice boat cruise on the Douro. It was just a wonderful day that we will remember for years to come. Just spent 2 delightful days in Porto and Duoro Valley with Hugo and he is AMAZING! His passion for his country, extensive knowledge of anything and everything and great sense of humor made this experience the highlight of our trip. You do not want to miss out on this grand adventure from discovering Porto in his open air Volkswagen bus, tasting delicious wines, savoring local cuisine to flying down one lane cobblestone streets in the Douro Valley. This is an exquisite countryside that you must experience.

Duro Valley is one of the most incredible sites to behold. Absolutely beautiful with incredible wineries and restaurants. Our guide Hugo made the day so special. We had our tour with Hugo. He was great! Very informative, funny and professional. He took plenty of pictures for us and made our first time in Porto exceptional and memorable. The 2 wineries we went to were fun and intimate. We ended the tour with a relaxing boat ride. I would recommend Hugo as a tour guide! :)

If you are considering a trip to Douro Valley I can highly recommended the trip we took yesterday with “Let’s Kombi “. Why ? It was an OUTSTANDING experience from beginning to end . Easy to book , great pre trip communication , very spacious comfortable Mercedes with water provided , pick up and drop off at our Porto apartment and an exceptionally well curated private tour of two wineries with tastings of a huge variety of their wines and ports . They were both beautiful smaller family owned wineries ( which we loved ) 1 Quinta de Santa Eufemia & 2 Quinta do Jalloto - both exceptional quality . The day started with a very welcome stop for coffee & a variety of Portuguese pastries inspired by the local monastery in the quaint village of Amarante ( stunning ) . Lunch was 3 courses of wholesome traditional Portuguese home cooking and of course red and white wine between the two wine tours. We ended with the most peaceful boat trip on the Duoro River - tranquil and a perfect end to a very special tour. Lastly Hugo our tour guide/ driver was such a friendly , relaxed guy it would be difficult not to enjoy the day in his company - He really made the day extra special and for that we are truly grateful . Book Let’s Kombi and you will be very happy you did !!!

We were very fortunate to book Hugo for our tour. Our group of 5 ranged in age from 25 to 85 and he provided a memorable experience for all of us. Hugo communicated several times before the tour date and planned the perfect excursion for our late afternoon arrival. Hugo picked us up as planned in Regua where our Riverboat parked for the evening. He took us on a great tour of the area and to a wonderful wine tour at Quinta Santa Eufemia. Hugo provided us with lots of interesting facts about the area, answering all of our questions. His outgoing personality and passion to provide the best experience has given our group memories that will last a lifetime. Thank you Hugo!

Hugo is the very best! He is kind, thoughtful and very responsible. Great sense of humor. Our tour of the Duro Valley involved tasting rooms, fab lunch, lovely boat ride on the Duro. He made reservations for us for both dinner (s) as well and lunch both of which were in Porto neighborhoods rather than typical tourist dining establishments. A day with Hugo is a day filled with sunshine (it was sunny but I imagine he’s that way even in the rain!). Gratefully we have him again tomorrow for a city tour!

Visiting a World Heritage Site like Douro Valley was certainly an excellent decision of me, my husband and another couple of friends visiting Portugal for the second time, this month. And most of all, having chosen Let’s Kombi to organize it, take us there and bring us back to the hotel in Porto at the end of the day. We were so delighted with the experience and had such a great time! We could witness how Hugo, the fiendly driver from Let’s Kombi , really enjoys doing it! He caters for small private groups with a special shared interest, in this case, sightseeing cultural heritage with wine & gastronomy, having the chance to learn about the very traditional vinyard culture, wine tasting… a delicious meal and a boat trip in Douro river. What a full memorable day! We can’t recommend the experience more!

I had a great day. Hugo provided a welcome balance of activity and breaks. The wine tasting was entertaining, the private meal was a privilege and I appreciated the sights from the comfortable seat of the VW; the N222 road with the spectacular views of the Douro valley and the buzzing streets of Porto. Hugo gave us plenty of information and happily shared his knowledge and love of the valley.

After a great city tour with Hugo in his oldtimer VW bus immediately booked this private tour. Hugo is an enthusiastic Guide who has made a tailor-made tour for us. From atmospheric coffee stop, to the first family wine farm, traditional lunch, to the second family wine farm and as a conclusion a beautiful boat trip on the Douro minden through the valley. Everything was perfectly coordinated and the enjoyment started immediately when he picked us up in front of our apartment. Hugo has given us a wonderful day. Hugo thank you!

The Douro Valley is magnificent. Hugo is passionate about this region. We are traveling on the famous N222 road, the landscape is breathtaking.
