This tour was great! Sandro was awesome and we had a wonderful time. The two wineries were really good as well as the lunch. Several scenic stops made the day! Would definitely recommend!

Sandro, did a great job and was very informative. Excellent selection of wineries and a great lunch.
Sandro was very knowledgeable about the areas he took us to and he was extremely pleasant. We enjoyed being with him I highly recommend him.
Sandro our guide was wonderful took us the small vine yards in the Duri valley
If you’re going to spend a day in the Douro, do yourself a favor and hope you get Ricardo Oliveira. Ricardo is the kind of guide you actually want to spend 9–10 hours with, which is saying something. He’s funny without trying too hard, easygoing without being checked out, and somehow manages to read the room better than most people you’ve known for years. Within the first hour, it stopped feeling like a tour and started feeling like a very well-planned day with a friend who happens to know everything and knows everyone. He didn’t just drive us from place to place. He adjusted the day as we went, throwing out options, reading what we were into, and steering us away from anything that felt forced or generic. Want to linger somewhere with a great view? Done. Prefer to skip something and try something else? No problem. It never felt like we were on rails. The Douro is obviously stunning, but what made the day was how effortless it all felt. No stress, no wasted time, just good decisions stacked one after the other. Ricardo made sure of that. Bottom line: great guide, great instincts, great company. If you get him, you’re in very good hands.
My wife and I had a truly wonderful day in the Douro Valley with Oporto Road Trips, and we’re really grateful for how well everything was handled from start to finish. From the moment we booked, communication was clear and prompt. The night before our tour they confirmed all the details and sent us our guide’s name, contact info, and exactly when and where we’d be picked up, which made us feel very well looked after. Our guide, José Pedro, was fantastic. He clearly knows the Douro and its wineries inside and out, having worked at one himself. He chose smaller producers for us to visit, which made the whole experience feel very personal and genuine. Our first stop was Quinta do Cume, where we were given a private tour that walked us through the entire process, from grape selection all the way to bottling. After that, we enjoyed a beautiful boat ride deep into the Douro River Valley. On Pedro’s suggestion, we brought along a bottle of wine from the winery, and sipping it on the boat really made the moment special. For lunch, Pedro took us to a local spot, Ruby Douro Café, where we enjoyed traditional Portuguese cuisine in a warm, friendly setting. In the afternoon, we visited Vieira de Sousa, a Port wine specialist. We were able to taste some incredible Ports from a smaller house, which felt very different (in a good way) from the big, more commercial Port lodges. At the end of the day, we were dropped back at our hotel in Porto feeling like we’d had a truly unique and thoughtfully curated experience. Our time with Pedro and Oporto Road Trips was superb, and we’re very appreciative of the care and effort they put into making this such a memorable day for us.
Marina was an excellent tour guide. The douro valley is beautiful. She took us to a small family winery for a tour and tasting, which was lovely. It was so peaceful up there looking out over the Duoro Valley. We then went to a small local restaurant for a family style lunch, which was really good. We made a qucik detour to taste local ports because my husband liked those. All in all, it was a great day. very well planned and fun!
Pedro was an amazing guide. Great driver, knowledgeable, friendly, super funny and made sure we had the best time. Highly recommend Pedro!!
We had a wonderful tour in the Douro Valley! Pedro was an incredibly funny and attentive guide, which made the whole experience even more enjoyable. The schedule was perfectly organized, giving us enough time to see everything without feeling rushed. Highly recommended!
Amazing experience visiting some spectacular wineries in the Douro valley. Our guide Luis was incredible. His knowledge, hospitality and kindness made for a memorable experience. . Thank you Luis!
Pedro was fantastic!!!! He has such a great personality and sense of humour. The tour itself was amazing! Pedro was so knowledgeable on everything he told us and I left feeling like I learned without being lectured. Every winery we went to dedicated time and compassion to our group, teaching us about their winery and the history surrounding each one. I definitely recommend!! We made some great friends and left tipsy at the very least!!!
We had a wonderful experience with a private tour with Cheila. She gave us wonderful information and service. She was attentive to us and we enjoyed the views, scenery and wine tour stop. This are of Portugal is amazing and I would think the e tea money for a private tour was worth every penny! Ask for Cheila you won’t be disappointed. Kelly and Harvey - Seattle, WA USA
We loved this tour. It was private for my family. 2 adults and 2 kids. Sandro our driver and tour guide made our day pleasant, was very caring with our kids and very thoughtful of everything. Good conversation during our drive, sharing hospitality, history and local charm to our day. Lunch was a typical portuguese meal which I describe as comfort food, it was very good. River cruise was very nice as well and everything running on time. Our favorite part was the porto tasting with Teresa from Villa do Souza. She was the most charming lady, very knowledgeable of wine making, sharing stories and making sense of all the process and somehow we left like we knew her since forever. Very genuine and we left with our hearts full after that conversation with her.
Our guide was amazing and very knowledgeable, so amazing to visit family owned and boutique venues,no crowds from a tour bus,so we saw several beautiful venues that we probably wouldn’t have been able to access in a large group. absolutely recommend this tour!!
This tour through the Douro Valley was truly the highlight of our trip to Portugal! From start to finish, everything was perfectly organized and packed with unforgettable moments. Traveling by minibus allowed us to relax and take in the stunning scenery without any stress, and every stop offered something unique—from sipping world-class wines and ports, overlooking stunning vineyards to enjoying a delicious traditional Portuguese lunch in a beautiful setting. A special shoutout to our guide, Pedro, who made the experience absolutely exceptional. He was knowledgeable, friendly, and incredibly helpful throughout the day. His passion and deep understanding of the Douro wine region and its history really enriched the tour and his warm personality made everyone feel welcome and at ease. The wine and port tastings were top-notch, with generous pours and plenty of insight from passionate boutique winemakers. The river cruise was the perfect peaceful break, offering breathtaking views of the terraced vineyards. If you’re considering a trip to the Douro Valley, I can’t recommend this tour highly enough. Should you be lucky enough to get Pedro as your guide, you’re in for an unforgettable experience.
We joined three other couples as Pedro escorted us in the Mercedes van to a couple of boutique wineries with a river cruise in between. They take their wine very seriously in Douro Valley for a good reason. We learned about Portuguese culture, tasted some fantastic ports/wine and were awed by the vistas. We all agreed, that we were very fortunate to have Pedro as guide because he imparted so much knowledge all with a great sense of humor. We highly recommend this same tour, or even better, a three day tour.
We took this all day tour with Pedro and it was a wonderful day. Pedro was absolutely brimming with information and told us everything we needed to know about the places we visited and on the way there. We started with a short river cruise, which was very relaxing and had beautiful views of the steep vineyard hills. Next we went to a winery for a wine and olive oil tasting. We learned so much about olive oil! The vineyard is located in top of the hills near the river and the view was spectacular. It looked fake it was so beautiful. Next we went into town for a traditional meal and then finished at a port vineyard. All of seven of us aged 20- 54 loved the experience. The only thing we would change next time would be to order a charcuterie board at the first vineyard and stay longer, skipping the lunch. A fantastic experience!!
The trip was perfect. We enjoyed the whole thing, wineries, the lunch and the boat tour. Our guide, Jao “Johnny” was amazing.
What a phenomenal trip! The stunning beauty of the Douro Valley is breathtaking! Our guide , Pedro, went above and beyond to make this an experience of a lifetime ! He was engaging , knowledgeable and accommodating! I would recommend this private tour to anyone! Being a small group we were able to go leisurely, did not feel rushed, and the small things Pedro did to accommodate our day were beyond measure !! Thank you Pedro for making this trip so special !
Had a great time on our tour of the Douro Valley. Pedro, our guide is very knowledgeable and passionate about the culture and the history of the area. In addition, he took us to an amazing local Portuguese restaurant for lunch. The trip was a great experience and well worth the money. I would highly recommend this trip
This was great trip. Pedro was a great tour guide with so much knowledge. As soon as you meet him you know it will be a good trip. It was affordable and the right amount of time to see stuff. We never rushed to move on.
Ivo was a brilliant guide. Oporto Road trips had arranged a fabulous day for us. Boutique wineries, local restaurant. Fun informative and fabulous
An excellent way to spend a day in Porto! Highly recommend this tour as you get a more private and personalized experience at homey, smaller wineries. You also get to enjoy tours of different vineyards and the olive oil as well. Pedro- our guide - was amazing. Very knowledgeable and personable and ensured the trip was smooth. Recommend bringing a jacket if doing boat trip in the winter.
An excellent day with Pedro on a private Douro Valley tour of 2 wineries, river cruise and lunch. It was a comfortable fit of 8 people in a van. Pedro did a great job explaining a bit of history, beautifully played the guitar for us at one of the wine tastings - an overall great experience. Highly recommend.
Our guide. Diane was wonderful. We were transported in a very confortable van and she was knowledgeable and accommodating. We enjoyed the winery tour, wine pairing lunch with delicious food and wine overlooking the Duoro river, and a picturesque boat ride with the gorgeous terraced vineyards on each side.
We had an amazing time on the Private Douro Valley Tour. Our guide, Enrique, was incredibly personable and knowledgeable, enhancing our experience with his insights. The visit to Quinta do Cume was a highlight, offering fabulous wines and an in-depth tour by the winemaker himself—one of the best winery tours I’ve ever had. The Douro river cruise was perfectly placed within the itinerary, providing a serene and picturesque break. Lunch at Vila Gale Douro Vineyards was delightful, accompanied by more excellent wines. Overall, this was a perfect tour and easily one of the best I’ve experienced anywhere. Highly recommended!
Fun and informative tour and tasting at a Quinta, a beautiful river cruise on our own private boat, and a delicious lunch - all with lots of wine from the Douro valley. Our guide Luis was very friendly, knowledgeable, and did a great job. Highly recommended!
Our driver and tour guide, Pedro, was really friendly, fun, and knowledgable. All the wineries we visited were delightful. The whole day was delightful. I definitely would highly recommend this day trip.
The Duoro Valley is lovely. The wine tours were informative and delicious. Our tour guide, Barheim, made it an even better trip. He was knowledgeable, fun and a very good driver. We felt well taken care of.
Took a small group tour led by George on Sept 3rd. He was a very good tour guide who shared a lot of information. He made sure everyone was comfortable and enjoyed the trip. The two wineries were a bit different but both equally good in their presentation. Lunch was in Pinhâo. It was a very good meal with three types of meats. Two types of wine were provided and a small glass of Porto. Dessert was delicious. The boat tour was a good break between wine tastings. The meal was top on my list of meals in Portugal. If you are planning a tour in Douro, George is a great choice.
Andrea was fantastic! Her English was great and she was incredibly friendly. She kept us on track in terms of timing so we were able to see a few more cute spots for photos. etc. Food was great and very authentic. Highly recommend!
Douro Valley was incredible. We spent the day visiting wineries, taking a cruise & making new friends. We couldn’t of asked for a more beautiful day. Brahim was our driver and guide. He was amazing every step of the trip. We had our 3 year old with us and she loved Brahim. They provided a car seat and were extremely attentive to our needs. I highly recommend him and the Oporto Road Trips.
This tour (went on Aug 7th) was absolutely amazing, and it wouldn’t have been the same without our tour guide Joāo! Joāo was amazingly kind, extremely knowledgeable and generous with his time. Not only did he provide us with exceptional services and care the entire day, he really made us feel welcomed and appreciated. Joāo also let us purchase an extra bottle of wine at our last tour and let us squeeze in a few more minutes knowing he would end up getting home a little more later than usual. Our group was thoroughly impressed with the service. Now for feedback on the wineries: Overall, the tours were really enjoyable. The views from the Doro Valley were absolutely stunning! The employees at both wineries took the time to explain their processes for making their wine and that was really fun too. Our only complaint was that we thought for the money paid to visit two wineries, the quantities of pours could have been a little more generous. One of the wineries supplied two bottles for our group of 6 to share which was a little underwhelming to say the least… we had to buy a third bottle and felt it could have been offered given the price of these tours. All in all, I would highly recommend this tour to anyone interested. We learned a lot, got to try some amazing wine and had the best tour guide we could ask for. Thanks again Joāo, we sincerely enjoyed meeting you! Jesse
Absolutely amazing. Our tour guide Hugo was incredible. He went above and beyond to make our day so special and unforgettable. We went to 2 beautiful wineries with great wine and an amazing boat tour. Overall a wonderful day lead by the best tour guide Hugo!!!
We really enjoyed our day out with Oporto Road Trips. We were picked up from our hotel by our guide Francisco is a small air conditioned minibus. There were 8 people in total on the trip and the bus felt room enough for all of us. Francisco was great, so friendly but really knowledgeable too, giving us info about wine and the local area on our ride to the first vineyard and then on the trips in between. Both vineyards we visited were lovely, the hosts were great and the wine was lovely. The river cruise was really picturesque, you could be outdoors or indoors and it was a big boat with other trips but didn't feel crowded. The lunch was good too, a local restaurant set up for tours. I can't eat gluten and Francisco checked in with the kitchen confirming what I could and couldn't have. There was plenty of food, it was yummy and lots of wine too. We were dropped right back to our hotel after a nice relaxing trip back. Francisco could tell we all just needed to chill on the ride home and he let us get on with it. The whole day was great and we would highly recommend it!
Amazing tour. Incredible, breathtaking views everywhere! the 2 wineries was a great experience. Lunch was OK, if you like rustics and authentic food. Personnaly, the quantity of wines/porto was fine, and delicious. The only "OK" thing was the Douro boat tour, the app installed was poor and not useful at all. Enjoy the view instead.
Yesterday my husband I went on an amazing tour exploring the wineries of the Douro River region. We were so very fortunate to have Brahmin as our guide. He was an absolutely amazing guide, very respectful to all participants and very knowledgeable on the regions history. Our winery visits were fun and interesting and our lunch -Devine! Brahmin certainly made our trip. What an amazing young man. We highly recommend this tour! Gerard and Denise Higgins Australia
We spent our 2nd day in Portugal with the BEST tour guide Sofia - we couldn’t recommend this tour more highly. Sofia went above and beyond at every step for us. So much wine, great stories, the lunch was unforgettable. It was the perfect kick off to our first time in Portugal. Thank you so much to Sofia! Book with her if you can!
Our guide Sophia went beyond our expectations for making our day in The Valley the best possible wine tour. She helped us with our purchase decisions to enjoy Duero’s best small batch wineries. Her passion for service and her intimate knowledge of the area created the perfect experience for our group. Thank you !
We had a great time overall being able to see all 3 main points of interest in one trip/day. I would recommend it for a first time experience of the Douro Valley. The size of the group is intimate so you don’t feel like you’re missing out. Brahim our tour guide was attentive and kept everyone engaged during the drive. You will learn many fun facts not just about the Douro Valley but also about the country as well. Depending when you’re visiting be ready for sudden change in climate from very hot and humid to scattered rain. It’s a vast valley that can get very hot. Each winery was a different experience leaving us with great knowledge. The first winery not only produces wine but all natural honey and olive oil that you can purchase. Being of Portuguese decent myself, I have eaten in many Portuguese establishments but we had lunch in the absolute best tasting restaurant food I’ve ever had! The name is “O Tachinho Da Té” located in Tabuaço. Everything from appetizers, main dish and desserts was top notch. Just that restaurant alone is worth the drive anytime.
Great trip with Cristian. Cristian was very knowledgeable about Porto and Duoro Valley. Learned a lot from him on our way to Duoro from Porto. He was very courteous and professional. Visited couple of great wineries - Val Moreira and after lunch and river cruise to Quinta do Bejo…stopped by for lunch at Pinhao…Beautiful ceramic tiles at the Pinhao railway station. The Duoro river cruise was very relaxing. Highlight of our trip was crawling into and out of a wine barrel at Bejo. We were lucky in terms of the weather. Nice and cool and around 70 deg F and threatening to rain but no rain. The previous day it was 99 deg F.
What a wonderful way to spend our first full day in Portugal! My husband and I visited Spain and Portugal with Porto being our first stop, and my friend recommended this tour. It did not disappoint! The wine country was beautiful and wine was delicious. Marina was an amazing tour guide as well! Highly recommend.
I recently embarked on an unforgettable wine tasting and boat tour in the Douro Valley. The beautiful and quaint wineries provided an authentic Porto experience, with picturesque surroundings perfect for capturing stunning photos. The boat ride showcased breathtaking views along the Douro River, adding an exciting element to the trip. Our tour guide, Brahmin, was simply spectacular. Fluent in English and incredibly knowledgeable, he not only explained the tour highlights but also offered captivating insights into Portugal's history and culture. Brahmin's friendly nature and excellent photography skills added a personal touch, making the experience even more enjoyable. With a small tour group, the entire journey felt intimate and personalized. I highly recommend this tour company, particularly with Brahmin as your guide, to anyone visiting the Porto area. Prepare to be enchanted by the Douro Valley's beauty, indulge in exquisite wines, and gain a deeper understanding of Portugal's fascinating heritage. This tour is a perfect blend of wine, history, and scenic charm that will leave you with lasting memories.
Pickup was easy, amazing scenery on the way. 1st winery really good. Lunch was excellent and lots of food and wine. Boat trip average. 2nd winery good. Guide was knowledgeable and friendly. Would recommend.
A magical day in a beautiful place. Our guide Sofia was great fun and so knowledgeable about the area and the wines and ports. The river cruise was beautiful but having to download an app and listen to what we were going past was ot great - would have preferred to have our guide (or a guide on the boat explaining things) Lunch was delicious and the wineries we visited were amazing. Highly recommended day out from the bustle of Porto
We went on the Douro Valley tour on May 28 with Oporto Road Trips. Our fabulous tour guide and driver was Sofia who made the day so enjoyable for everyone in our mini-van. Besides being an expert on Porto, the Douro Valley and the history of Portugal, she is fluent in four languages, an amazing driver and was on top of every aspect of our tour. She took us to two excellent wineries (Quinta do Tedo was especially great), an authentic local lunch and a very nice cruise on the Douro River. The views were amazing and the weather was cool and comfortable. Really an A plus experience all the way. Thanks again to Sofia, Patricia and all the behind the scenes staff at Oporto Road Trips!
Fantastic day visiting the Douro Valey wine region. So beautiful and interesting but our tour guide Brahim made the experience unforgettable. Nothing was too much trouble and he made sure everyone had a great time.
We had SUCH a fantastic day. Who knew that there was a coach for 19 people!!! Sofia was brilliant, able to balance the information about the region and how the Douro valley came to be one of the best port making areas in the world, with making sure we all got where we needed to when we needed to, and allowing us to chat/sing when we had had our share of the port/wine!
It was an amazing experience. Driving through the Duoro Valley, the boat ride, the wine and porto tasting. We are grateful to our guide, Sofia, who explained everything in detailed, shared stories and took us to wonderful places all in Spanish. She was also quite patient with us because our debarkment took longer than expected, but she was able to make up time and show all all the key activities included in the tour.
The scenery on the hour-long drive out was amazing, topped only by the riverside drive back! The boat ride was fun, and gave another viewing perspective of this beautiful valley. Lunch was nicely Portuguese, and the port Quinta tour and tasting was truly wonderful. If you have an extra day in Porto, do this tour! If you don't, think about adding a day!
