Private Douro Valley Tour Including 3 Wineries

Amazing experience. Douro valley is breathtaking. I did a private tour for two and it was incredible. Eduardo is an amazing tour guide, he made it such a fun experience for me and my partner. Definitely request him if you can. Great wines and breathtaking views

This was beyond what we could have hoped for, let alone expected. If you are even considering this tour, commit. Now! We have been on numerous wine tours and tastings around several continents, but this was our first in Portugal and the Douro. This was without a doubt the best yet. Eduardo took us to three wineries, two of which being small, basically family run operations. He delivered great stories about the history of the area and it was obvious he knew the proprietors intimately. While we were left alone to our experiences, he remained close by to engage with the other staff. That type of engagement only happens when mutual respect is shared. One note to remember is lunch - we had not planned ahead to make any arrangements. No problem for Eduardo - he called ahead to get us seats at a small restaurant. Again, even though I don’t speak Portuguese, the conversation was light and amicable - again, that sound of respect. Our trip was a very full day that was not rushed but nurtured. Oh, and yes, the choices of wineries was good enough to encourage us to have several cases being shipped home! No doubt, this was amazing!

This was an amazing tour - two things in advance - make a lunch reservation and do bring water! Having said that, our exceptional guide, Eduardo, arranged for both for us. We have done tours literally around the world with different providers, and this was our first trip to Porto and the Douro River. Eduardo provided not only the educational insights but was friendly, funny and one of the most interesting people we have run into. He knew everyone at the wineries we visited, and the restaurant we ate lunch at. He pointed out specific areas of interest and made suggestions along the way. He’s also a great photographer and knows exactly where to stop and how to pose you! A long day with three wineries, but they were well paced and spread out. In our case we did two very small wineries and one larger. The two small wineries were friendly, accommodating and offered exceptional wines. Obviously also able to ship, but at no time did I feel in any way forced to order. Furthermore, if there was something else you wanted to taste, they were too happy to pour (including a 30 year Tawny). Not measured pours but not so much you lose your sense of taste. You could really not ask for more. Actually, we could not ask for anything more out of a tour. Great guide, great stop choices and prompt service. You cannot go wrong with OPorto Road Trips and Eduardo. That is, unless you choose someone else for your tour!

We had an amazing private tour of the Douro Valley with Luis. He was so much fun and had great energy for a day of wine touring. He was also very knowledgeable about the area and was excellent about checking on us and making sure we were comfortable. The three wineries were an ideal mix- the first had a beautiful view and a tour showing old olive oil and wine making equipment; the second was a large winery with also a lovely river view and very high quality wines and port; the last was our favorite with an unforgettable tour by the owner and an exceptional tasting and tapas board. The views on the tour day were unreal and we got some lovely photos. Thank you Luis for a beautiful day!

We booked a private tour where we visited three wineries and Pedro was our guide for the day. We had an awesome time and recommend this experience to anyone wanting to explore the beauty of the Douro Valley. Request Pedro if you can!! Unfortunately we didn’t see the sun on our trip and it rained pretty heavy at times, but Pedro made sure we had a great time. Each of the wineries offered us something unique. We learned a lot and tasted some amazing wine and port. We had so much fun with Pedro and genuinely enjoyed the drive to and from the Valley, just getting to know him and the region. Even though it was just the two of us, he was so kind to wear a mic because I can’t hear well in cars. We also had lunch the three of us and it was so much fun (plus, great food). We also appreciated how Pedro offered recommendations for things to do in Porto when we returned. All in all, the highlight of our Portugal trip!

Our tour of the Douro Valley was absolutely magical—one of the highlights of our entire trip to Portugal! From start to finish, everything was perfectly organized, relaxed, and full of genuine charm. Our guide, Pedro, was simply outstanding. Warm, knowledgeable, and passionate about the region, they made the entire experience feel personal and meaningful. Throughout the day, we learned about the history of the valley, the winemaking traditions, and the unique culture that makes this region so special. Pedro struck the perfect balance sharing fascinating insights and giving us time to simply take in the stunning scenery. The tour included visits to a few carefully chosen wineries—each with its own character and story. The tastings were generous and delicious, and we had the chance to meet local winemakers who clearly take great pride in their craft. Lunch at a family-run estate overlooking the river was another highlight: fresh, authentic Portuguese dishes paired with incredible wines and breathtaking views. The drive through the valley was mesmerizing, with endless terraces of vines cascading down to the Douro River. We stopped at several viewpoints, and every one looked like it came straight out of a postcard. Overall, this tour exceeded every expectation. If you’re visiting Portugal, don’t miss the Douro Valley, with this group leading the Iway!

This was well worth the time and money. The guide, Pedro, was wonderful. He was laid back, full of information and trivia, and ensured we were well taken care of. He went out of his way to take photos, show us great sights, avoid large groups, and in general treat us like visiting family. The wineries we toured were all quaint and personable. Not the usual large tour sites.

We had the best day with Pedro! The tour was so well organised and Pedro was fantastic company! We tried so many delicious wines and port wines and had some lovely food too. He also kept us hydrated with water in the 39° heat. Thank you!

I would highly recommend taking a day trip with Pedro, he was such a welcoming and affable personality. The tour he has curated feels very special and shows all the Duoro valley has to offer. We went to 3 wonderful vineyards and tasted amazing port and wine. You can tell Pedro loves his job and loves Portugal. It was a pleasure to spend the day with him. This was the most incredible experience of our trip! Pedro was the most captivating guide, going out of his way to make sure we were all comfortable and accommodated for. The very small group was intimate and Pedro knew all of our names. Even though I was pregnant, the guide, views, information, and olive oil tasting made the trip completely worth it. If you’re unsure, book it!

The small groups and knowledgeable guide really make this day great! They even called the day before seeing we were Francophones and asking if we wanted the tour in French! They were so accommodating and the tour was our best day in Portugal!

We had a wonderful day with Henrique and the other travelers. Our trip included a coffee stop to get us going in the morning and then off to a wonderful small production Quinta. Next was a delicious lunch in the same town and then off to our second stop along the Douro River. We ended our journey with a port tasting, history of the region, and amazing views. Our guide was wonderful and so knowledgeable.

We had the most fantastic day with Helio our guide. A lovely guy with so much knowledge of the regions wines and history. Beautiful scenery along the way as well as witnessing a very big cycle race. This delayed us a little for which we were more than compensated for ( thank you) Great wine, delicious food and excellent company. We would highly recommend Helio.

I was traveling alone and the tour guide, Luiz, made sure I was well taken care of. This was my first time visiting the Douro and I am in the wine industry and was impressed with the quality of the vineyards, all small producers, that the tour brought us to. It was a well thought out itinerary for both experts and newcomers to wine. Everyone learned something! The lunch was hearty featuring local cuisine. I can’t say enough wonderful words about our guide, Luiz. We were a lively group even if I was a stranger among them and he was patient and seemed to enjoy the company of everyone.

What an amazing day! Our guide, Hélio, was fantastic. From pickup to drop off, everything went smoothly and was very well organized. The wineries were fantastic, as was the traditional Portuguese lunch. There was plenty of time for pictures, and it was nice being with a small group of people. Would highly recommend this tour to anyone interested in exploring the Douro Valley wine scene.

Excellent entry level tour to learn about the Douro Valley and its wines. Tiago was a great guide and he offered a lot of local hints. Best part was left at the end: visit to the family-owned Quinta do Cume vineyard. All in all - a highly recommended experience!

Amazing experience! One I will do over and over again! Diana was our tour guide- she picked us up in Porto- and provided us history and information until she dropped us off. We visited three Quintas and had an authentic Portuguese meal. It was by far my favorite activity while in Portugal.

One of the most beautiful days in Porto! The organization of the day was great: we were picked up in the morning and during the ride we already learned about the history and details of the region. The whole day we were on our own and were very warmly welcomed everywhere! We looked at three wineries, which were all different and where we could learn a lot about wine. We had lunch in a simple but very very tasty restaurant! Hélio accompanied us all day and explained many interesting things about the history and about the wineries. He was aware of our needs and responded to everything! He is a very nice and caring person and gave his personal touch to the day. We felt really comfortable! Thanks for everything Hélio and team and we recommend it 100%!
