Tiago was an excellent host who gave us history and guided us to enjoy the best of the Duoro valley.

David was the best guide we could have asked for! He was extremely knowledgeable and personable. He was flexible and adapted our day if we wanted to spend more time in a certain spot. He never rushed us and was wonderful to get to know!
Excellent experience , do not hesitate to book: van was amazing , safe driving- Ask for Bruno - can’t go wrong .
André was an excellent guide for our day exploring Amarante and the Douro Valley. From the very beginning, he made the experience feel relaxed, personal, and unhurried, always listening to our interests and respecting our pace. Rather than feeling like a formal guided tour, the day felt like discovering the region with someone who truly knows and loves it. One of the highlights was our visit to Quinta da Zinheira, a family-run winery that was absolutely fantastic. The experience was very intimate and personal, with so much attention and care in every detail. It felt genuine and special, exactly the kind of experience we were hoping to have in the Douro. It was a beautiful, authentic, and memorable day in Amarante and the Douro Valley, made even more special by André’s thoughtful approach and attention to detail. We highly recommend him!
The tour was very well done, and we enjoyed ourselves. However, we did not know we were so far away from the Douro Valley, even though we were staying in Porto. It would be very helpful for planning purposes if the tour description explained that the tour starts with a 1 1/2 hour drive through the windy Hills/Mountains to the first stop and ends with a stop halfway back. My family gets carsick and we had tried to spread out the day trips accordingly, if they included at long drives.
Tiago was an excellent guide! Extremely knowledgeable and pleasant. Gave us such a memorable experience in Duoro. Loved every minute of it! Highly recommend Tiago.
The Douro Valley can not be missed if you visit Porto. It’s absolutely beautiful. The wine, olive oil, food and people were all delightful. The 1 hour boat ride seemed pointless. We had better views driving in and from the olive oil “ museum “. ( our only negative) The whole day was tremendously fun with our guide Alex! He’s very knowledgeable and cool. He also has been a gem during the remainder of our stay, offering suggestions for restaurants, and orchestrating a collection and return of a lost credit card.
We had an amazing time visiting the quient town of Amarante, the Duoro Valley, going to Quinta de Gricha and enjoying some wine tasting. We got to end the day with a lovely boat ride along the river. Our guide and drive Nuno Silva was amazing. He was fun, engaging and helped us out to navigate the day and keep us on track.
Nuno is the best!!! Great explanations, personal care of everyone in the group The places he took us were great and told us the local history of the Douro Valley wine history.
What we visited were very disappointing. The wineries were not working vineyards. The cellar where we tasted ports, the barrels were empty as were the bottles, it felt like a staged setting. I felt everywhere was just a venue for the purpose. As such the lunch venue which was run down, the villa clearly unloved and unoccupied. The price was expensive to what is generally offered in Portugal for food and wine. In fact extremely excessive. The private van driver offered very little information about the trip. We booked two tours with Viator in Porto both were well below expectation and over priced for value. Other tours I booked with small operators of private companies were so much better.
Tiago is a wonderful guide and made our excursion so much better with his knowledge and kindness. The wine country is stunning. We enjoyed multiple tastings-port, olive oil, digestive liqueur, cheese, meats. Traditional Portuguese lunch with a beautiful view under a mulberry tree. We added the river tour which was lovely.
Just had a fantastic day with Nuno! Brilliant guide, very knowledgable and excellent fun! Visited three wineries, enjoyed a beautiful boat ride and learned a lot about the region, Port wine and accompanied by great food. Wholly recommend this tour and Nuno as guide, he’s awesome!
This is a must do day trip from Porto and make sure to ask for Antonio. He is a wonderful guide . Super knowledgeable, terrific English speaker , very friendly, patient and a pleasure to spend the day with. Day was planned, timed perfectly at each stop. The views are breathtaking, the wine was excellent throughout and everyone we met was friendly and helpful. We chose to skip a lunch stop and Antonio gladly filled the time with an extra stop at a small village with a “special “ wine tasting. His recommendations on how to fill the day were spot on. The company was also very easy to work with, answering questions before our visit. Make sure you choose this tour and don’t forget to ask for Antonio.
Wonderful trip, Tiago is the best guide you could choose. It was lovely trip.
Tiago was a wonderful guide. His knowledge of the Duro valley and the history he shared was exquisite. The stops were spread out perfectly and the wine and port was fantastic. All of the food was top notch. I would not hesitate to recommend this trip to anyone…and this is coming from a beer drinker.
Tiago was the most wonderful guide. The whole trip was perfectly planned - not rushed not slow or boring. Great wines, views and trip alltogether.
What an amazing experience. You get way more than you pay for. Set aside a whole day for this trip, but it is worth it. Th guide really made everyone feel comfortable, Very friendly, and willing to go above an beyond so that the clients can feel happy. The Douro Valley has amazing views, and the atmosphere was incredible! While traveling i always felt comfortable in the Van, its big and you aren't crowded.
Beautiful day! Tiago was so knowledgeable, could answer all our questions, patient and fun to be with for the day!
We loved our time visiting the Duoro Valley with our guide Antonio. He was knowledgeable in both the history and culture of the region and Portugal in general. He was also very flexible making sure we got to areas when they were less crowded. I would highly recommend this private tour.
My wife and I had a wonderful full day tour in the Douro Valley with our driver Nuno from Touch Tours on May 22, 2026. He was so nice, knowledgeable, well spoken and a great driver! We highly recommend him and Touch Tours. A very smooth and well run company. From Porto we went to a beautiful small town along the way for a wine, cheese, bread and cured meat tasting. After that a relaxing nice river boat ride in the Douro Valley, then a wine and olive oil tasting at a picturesque winery and finally a very nice full lunch and porto wine tasting at a stunning estate and garden setting overlooking local vineyards. Such a great day with Nuno and a very professional, well planned and polished private tour! A great experience and one not to be missed when staying in Porto or touring the Douro Valley in Portugal. Bravo!
What you get with this tour includes an excellent driver ONLY. Wine tasting, boat tours, etc are EXTRA
We booked the private Douro Valley day tour. Nuno was our guide. He was excellent. He was very knowledgeable about the area and shared a lot of interesting information. He was very attentive to our needs and kept the day moving smoothly. We visited a small cafe, two wineries, a bar (to taste the green wine) and did a one hour boat tour on the Douro River. It was an amazing day. Would highly recommend Touch Tours and Nuno!!
Ricardo our guide was informative and friendly.
Nuno Valente delivered an absolutely unforgettable experience during our private tour of the Douro Valley. From the very beginning, he set the tone for an exceptional day by sharing that his work is all about the people—and he truly lives by that philosophy. The itinerary he crafted was outstanding: thoughtful, seamless, and perfectly tailored to our interests. Every detail was handled with care, allowing us to relax and fully enjoy the beauty of the Douro Valley without a single concern. Nuno anticipated our needs before we even had to ask, making the entire experience feel effortless and personalized. What stood out most was how special he made the day feel for my wife and me. It never felt like just another tour—he made it feel like our day. His warmth, professionalism, and genuine passion for what he does elevated the entire experience beyond expectations. If you’re looking for a truly first-class, memorable experience in the Douro Valley, Nuno Valente is the guide you want. We can’t recommend him highly enough.
Vasco was an absolutely amazing host. He took us at a leisurely pace throughout the valley and showed us beautiful view points that cannot be found anywhere else in the world. We had such a wonderful time. We do definitely come again.
Excellent service. Well orchestrated. We booked last minute and they were very accommodating. Would highly recommend. Carla is lovely.
This was an absolutely fabulous day! I would highly recommend doing this tour. Tiago was our driver for the day and he was fantastic. Picked us up on time in a comfy Mercedes van and took us to a small family owned place as our first stop and we knew then it was going to be a great day. He was so knowledgeable and incredibly kind, warn and funny. The winery on the top of the hill (very windy roads and he was great driver) was also wonderful as was the boat ride). And the last stop, lunch & port tasting, was the perfect ending. Well worth every single penny!
Tiago customized the day to meet our needs. We focused on Wine and Food, taking in the beautiful sights in the Douro Valley.
Our guide had an agenda that he wanted to follow, including specific stops. We asked about alternatives to the lunch he had chosen and he was not flexible. He did not offer other options for us, other that one that would have been over 200 euro per person. Took us to a tavern and ordered for us, not what we would have chosen. We would have like to stop and take a few photos of the beautiful scenery along the way. It did not feel like a private tour that we could help guide.
We enjoyed our day with Tiago. Very nice guy. He was prompt, pleasant and passionate about the Douro Valley and Portugal. He gave us good advice about what we should and should not do. You could tell he really loves his job!
We had an exceptional experience with Nuno. We have been on several private tours but Nuno surpassed everyone!! He was very knowledgeable, funny and took the time to understand our needs and customize the trip for us. He took exceptional care to meet everyone's needs. Highly recommend!! We had the best time, stopping for a quick coffee in Pesa de Regua, then on to quick tour of olive oil making and an olive oil tasting with honey almonds and bread and a white, red and rose at D'origem . Then off to an hour long boat ride at Pinhao, a four course lunch with endless bottles of wine, 10, 20 and 30yr port tasting and finally vino verde and red wine with ham, cheese and bread at Amaranthe. We walked around Amaranthe and finally were dropped off at our hotel. Would recommend it to everyone. Worth every penny.
I previously used this service two years ago to book a private Douro valley wine tour with Bruno. It was fantastic. Bruno arrived in a clean and beautiful Mercedes with black pants, white shirt and a tie. He spoke perfect English and constantly provided Portuguese history while on our drive. I again booked this trip for some friends two years later and again requested Bruno. I found it quite difficult to communicate with Sabrina. WhatsApp and phone calls went unanswered. I had to be very proactive to simply find out answers to simple questions. I was told they are very busy. Once I arrived in Porto I again found it unable to talk to anyone. I found it necessary to actually walk to the office where I encountered a girl with dark red dyed hair who wasn’t sure if we had a reservation or not. She finally found it and told us our driver would be Ze. She then requested our pickup point (which I had previously provided). I asked for Ze’s WhatsApp number as I had not been contacted by a driver and our tour was the next day. I messaged Ze who finally confirmed our 0830 appointment. Ze is a kind and interactive young man who arrived in baggy jeans and a tshirt, hardly the dress I would expect with a personal tour in a Mercedes. He tried as best he could to speak English. Then on the way home he thought we owed him more money. I assured him I had paid the 500 euros to Sabrina. He never the less called Sabrina who had to verify we didn’t still owe money. I find this insulting that this company can’t keep straight their accounting to know I paid a huge amount of money in advance. In addition, I was the one who had to contact them when the second payment was due. Again, I was told they are very busy. Unfortunately, I will not be using this company again. It appears they are growing way too rapidly to manage their clients in a professional manner.
We spent a wonderful day touring the Douro valley with our driver/guid Manuel. He was very friendly and informative. We to Amarante first for breakfast of smoked ham, cheese and bread and tasted red and white green wines. Then we went to a lovely vineyard for more tastings of wine and olive oil, with a tour of olive oil production methods. A nice 1 hour relaxing boat trip on the river followed. And then finished with a lovely lunch (with more wine) in the gardens of a very old vineyard farmhouse, along with tastings of various aged port wines. All in all a really lovely day!!!
Louis, our guide, was a great driver and the perfect guide. The stops he arranged were exactly what we wanted and the boat ride was nice and were were able to enjoy a bottle of wine we purchased. Highly recommend!
My husband and I had a private tour as part of our 25th anniversary with Marcio, who was a wonderful guide. We debated about a group tour but given our special occasion just wanted to have some personalized attention, which is what we received. We also initially planned to customize the tour to see bigger wineries but decided to go with what the tour company recommended and we're glad we did. First we stopped in Amerante and Marcio treated us to some green wine and their special pastries and after a short stop there we moved on to the beautiful region of the Duoro Valley. We stopped by an absolutely lovely quinta with breathtaking views that also had the most amazing olive oil tasting (wine was delicious as well) and tour and visiting a smaller place also gave us the opportunity to meet and hear from the owner. Then we chose to add the optional river cruise and realized we didn't have some wine for the tour so Marcio called another guide he knew and voila, wine was there for us. He went out of his way to find out what we liked and made sure we had everything we wanted. We ended with a lunch and port tour of an amazing, old quinta winery that had stunning views and wonderful food. I'm glad we chose to go with their places because the smaller places are less commercialized so they were more personalized and less busy experiences. Highly recommend both the tour and Marcio as our guide. Thank you for a memorable and wonderful experience.
Josę was an excellent guide. Keeping us on time yet still being flexible with us. Amazing experience, would definitely recommend.
Our Douro Valley Winery tour day was absolutely wonderful. There were several aspects of the day that made the day really special: 1. The fact that we were able to customize our trip to visit a winery we were really interested in was a huge plus. It was easy to arrange the schedule to our wants and management was easy to get in touch with. 2. It was really wonderful to visit several very unique places that gave us a taste for different wine varieties and flavor profiles. It was also great to be able to support the local businesses and learn more about the wine making process and experience specifically in Douro. 3. Nuno, our tour guide. What a wonderful human. His wealth of knowledge about the history, culture, and what makes Portugal uniquely Portugal was impressive to say the least. He was attentive, communicative, and responsive. We felt very safe and taken care of with Nuno which took away any nerves or stress we had coming into the day. We couldn't recommend Nuno enough.
Carla was amazing! She took us to several wine tastings and it was wonderful! I did not care for the boat ride tour that we added onto the trip separate from Carla. I would just do the wine tastings because that’s the best part!
My husband and I took this tour on our honeymoon when we were in Porto! It was the perfect day trip from the city. We splurged on the private tour and thought it was worth it to get a more tailored experience and to cut down on wait times, etc that can happen in a group tour. Our guide Pedro made the day extra special. He was knowledgeable about the area and gave us a lot of background information during our drive. He also made sure that our experience was seamless by timing the stops perfectly, arranging a special table with a nice view for lunch, and adjusting the schedule when our wine tasting went long. Overall we had a wonderful time and would recommend the Douro tour to anyone that wants to learn more about the wine of the region and get a look at the beautiful scenery!
This experience was amazing, we went in December and had the whole valley to ourselves. Our guide was knowledgeable and the wines we tasted were phenomenal.
Nuno was a great tour guide. He was easy to spend the day with - he was patient, kind and attentive to our needs. His knowledge of the area was incredible - and he told us stories from history that were entertaining and engaging. All in all - if you’re lucky enough to have Nuno as your guide - well, you are lucky!
David gave us a once in a lifetime experience full of historic facts, incredible wine, beautiful scenery and lots of laughs. We asked for an off the beaten path experience and he provided it, along with some must see sites. Highly recommend this company for its professionalism and David as your incredible tour guide!
The views were amazing! Went on a private tour with my wife and António was our guide. Our first stop was wine and olive oil tasting, which was incredible. Then went on an hour boat ride before lunch at another vineyard. The views at all stops were unreal and António was extremely knowledgeable and easy to talk to from stop to stop.
It was my wife's milestone birthday, and I wanted to make it extra special. The challenge was that she has so food restrictions that are less than compatible with the Portuguese palate (gluten free, milk free, egg free, and more). For her to truly enjoy this experience, I wanted to ensure that she would not have to worry about either the food being safe or missing out on all the Portuguese deliciousness. For this reason, I chose this fully customizable private tour. After I made our reservation for the date, Sabrina contacted me with a list of optional activities that were available to customize the experience. I communicated our needs, and together we worked through the options available. We settled on a purveyor of haute cuisine because the menu actively warned of the allergens present in each dish. I thought my wife would be most comfortable with this. The evening before out tour, Sabrina contacted me to brief me on weather and footwear (I asked if we were going to hike). She also said that our original restaurant choice was closed and reassured me that the restaurant at which that we had reservations would meet our requirements. I could find no information on the internet to back this up, but that was because I would soon find out no website could describe what we would experience (foreshadowing!). On the morning of the tour, I met our guide Andre. He drove a sleek black luxury muscle car and was insanely good looking (he looked like he could've walked off the set of a Telenovela). My wife and I sat in the car and found it extremely comfortable. While our tourguide drove us to the Douro Valley at 140kph with the ease of F1 racer, he talked about the history of the region and his connection to it. He was very down to earth and clearly loved his job. It was clear that our every need would be taken care of and that we were going to have an amazing experience. We first visited D' Origem in Casal de Loivos. My wife and I enjoyed the tour of the olive oil and wine grape processing facilities. Some of the equipment dated back a century (even a single cylinder fuel oil engine!), so I was able to fully geek out. The olive oil, honey, and wine tasting were so fun! You have to taste the olive oil and honey mixed together. We ordered 4 bottles of wine, 3 bottles of olive oil, and a bottle of honey to be shipped home. We all had such a good time together that they gave my wife and me a bottle of the Sling Shot Rose and a few glasses to enjoy on the river cruise. Andre took us to the dock, and my wife and I boarded the vessel. We used the bottle to make some friends on the boat and made the trip as memorable as possible. Some of the attached photos are from this cruise. After we disembarked, Andre took us to Taberna da Ponte, our lunch restaurant. We walked into the restaurant and let the staff know that Sabrina sent us. Their eyes lit up and the hostess led us to a quiet corner of the restaurant. She told us what we would be eating in a thick accent and asked if we would like red or white wine and if we would like still or sparkling water. We chose red and sparkling respectively. We were first served a salad that was just field greens and wedged tomatoes dressed in olive oil. The vegetables looked and tasted like they were picked from a well cared for backyard garden. The main dish then came. It was Bacalhau à Brás and roasted chicken legs. I could eat the cod, and it was AMAZING. We both could eat the chicken and it was so tender that if you shook the leg, all the meat would just fall off. It literally melting in your mouth like butter. For dessert was fresh fruit. The food was made with love, and you could taste it in every bite. This meal was so authentic and probably was one of the best we had in Portugal, period. I cannot emphasize this experience enough. After our meal, Andre drove us to Amarente. On the way, he shared his knowledg of the bridge architecture and how it fit in with the history of the region over the centuries. He was able to connect it to the living history of his family. This was a unique way of thinking of the monuments and traditions of the valley. When you visit, you will have to ask about the patron saint of the region who attracted people in search of love and the pastry that signifies that fertility that should "arise" from this. Be ready to blush a little. It will be clear why this city is famous for bachelorette parties. In Amarente we visited a cafe called Killowat and enjoyed the green wines of the valley and some smoked meats. My wife and I enjoyed some espresso and we left to return to Porto. Now if you want the full Kardashian experience, you will have to bring your own paparazzi. Sabrina and Andre, you two made this the trip of lifetime. My wife will always remember her milestone birthday thanks to you. You made sure that we could enjoy the Douro Valley to its fullest, even with all our food restrictions.
We thoroughly enjoyed this trip from start to finish. Wonderful scenery food and wine along with our fantastic driver & guide Tiago. Would highly recommend.
I booked a private customized Douro Valley tour 17hrs in advance after my previously booked trip was cancelled last minute by another provider. Not only did the company’s owner take my booking very last minute with no real plan, he took me himself as he could not find another driver on such short notice. Great communication right from clicking ‘book now’; he was open to all of my abnormal /off the beaten track requests (including exploring a town he had not yet explored), picked me up on time in a very comfortable vehicle, was a bottomless pit of knowledge on every Portugal/Douro/wine topic you can think of (this blew my mind really..), and felt very comfortable and like a friend from the start. Traveling solo, not wanting the tourist trail of activities, i could not have asked for a better day or a better host. Lots of great convo and laughs, amazing food and drink, great information and beauty along the way with off the cuff stop offs and the perfect amount of history (as a non-history buff, but appreciator). Highly recommend booking!! Will strive to make the day all that you want, and tack on what you didnt know you wanted! Best day in Portugal so far - thank you Andre :)
My wife and I had an excellent private full-day tour to the Douro Valley from Porto. Our guide Alex was outstanding - engaging, informative, and incredibly knowledgeable about not only the region but Portuguese culture and history. His fluent English made the experience even more enjoyable. The comfortable, safe Mercedes van made for a pleasant journey. Our first stop in Amarante was charming and well worth visiting. The vineyard visit included a wonderful tasting of local wines, and the short Douro River boat tour offered spectacular views (tip: choose your seat carefully to avoid people standing in your lines of sight). A few minor suggestions: the boat tour's audio app didn't work and crew assistance was limited. The lunch stop, while enjoyable, was expensive for what was provided, and the wine presentation after lunch felt forced when we were grouped with others despite booking privately. The Douro Valley is absolutely essential when visiting Porto. We highly recommend this tour with Touch Tours, particularly if Alex is your guide. Touch Tours might consider upgrading their third-party partnerships, but overall we had a highly enjoyable experience.
The private tour was excellent as it catered to our small group of four. Tiago was a great guide and was full of information on wine and the overall history of Portugal. Our group had a wonderful time. The only adjustment I would make is to be able to pay for 100% of the trip before it starts versus scrambling to make it bake to the office before they close.
We had the absolute pleasure of touring the Douro Valley with David and it was one of the highlights of our trip to Portugal!
We toured the Douro Valley as part of our visit to Porto. A comfortable drive (not so long as to make you feel like you are wasting a day in the car)amid spectacular scenery along the way. Our driver/guide Carla was a very personable companion who was easy to talk to and made the trip very pleasant. The arrangements for food encompassed excellent choices/wine and olive oil tastings ending up with an awesome lunch and port wine tastings. Really a superb offering that we recommend highly. Just one note : the TripAdvisor price is for car and driver only. Visits to vineyard, lunch etc incur additional cost payable to driver/guide on the day of the tour. Still worth the cost in our view. Douro valley is a must when visiting Portugal.
