Private City Kickstart Tour: Porto

I'm not someone who usually writes reviews, but I wanted to take the time in this case. We are just back from a long weekend break in Porto with my husband and friends. After a day of looking around and taking in the sites, we decided to take a shortish guided tour. I think people always wonder who you're going to get on these things. We're quite a fun group and a mix of ages - so we were hoping we'd get someone who could read our vibe and not be too formalque. Ruben was exactly what we were hoping for. He asked all of the right questions to fit our needs and expectations. His knowledge was incredible and it was genuinely enrhusing to see how proud he was to share his knowledge about his home country with us. We had been wondering aimlessly before hand, with no true appreciation for any of whag we were seeing. That all changed however because of him. A favourite memory from a wonderful trip! 100% recommended 👌 thank you Ruben!! 🙂

Nice walking tour of Porto! Victor was a great host he provided great insights into the local area and history. Provided recommendations for restaurants and bars in the area. Highly recommend.

Ana was so knowledgeable and friendly. She offered to reschedule due to rain so we did an evening tour instead of a morning one. She showed us many areas that we hadn’t even noticed before the tour. My husband was particularly interested in the history so Ana tailored our tour around that on the spot. We enjoyed our time together very much!

The tour guide was knowledgeable and very friendly. Our flight was delayed and he was flexible and was able to accommodate us by changing reservation to a later time that day.

We loved our guide who is a master's student and took us to the best places. We bought a bus ticket and then, we traveled all over Porto with a bus ticket. I would highly recommend booking this tour.

Our guide was amazing! He was at the meeting spot before the scheduled time, stayed in contact with us, and was very patient through we were a few minutes late. He knew a lot about the city, the architecture, and history of Porto! He was willing to show us whatever we were interested in or wanted to see. We definitely recommend this tour.

Carlos was a wonderful guide and made our first couple of hours in Porto so special! We loved the tour and would highly recommend him in particular as a guide - he was knowledgeable, fun, and engaging. Our time with him was incredibly enjoyable and gave us exactly what we were hoping for when we first booked. It left us feeling prepared and even more excited explore the city further on our own.

Tour guide was nice. Hard to understand. Didn’t feel we got a broad picture of the city. So much graffiti and construction.

Joao was brilliant and could not have been more helpful. We learnt so much that we could not possibly have found in any guide book. He knew Porto like the back of his hand and his enthusiasm for sharing his huge knowledge and experience was apparent throughout. Please pass on our thanks.

A great way to help orientate yourself, as there is so much to see, while learning a little about the rich history and culture of Porto .

Excellent guide, who not only explained the history and architecture a Porto, but took us inside the cathedral, and another church as well.

I absolutely cannot recommend Joao more highly. An absolute delight from start to finish. Joao is my kind of guide: through his able guidance the history of Porto was made engaging, fresh and accessible. This is a city he knows and his passion for his home town is infectious and well presented. Both myself and my partner loved his approach to the things that Porto has to offer - not necessarily the stuff on the main tourist trail, but lots of street art, graffiti and churches. Book a tour with him, seriously.

We only had one whole day in Porto before a flight so decided to do this quick tour and it was perfect. The guide, Jorge, was very knowledgeable and went over all the important notes of the city, showed us some amazing sights and gave great recommendations for the rest of our time. I highly recommend this tour and guide, you’ll have a great time!

We booked this tour on our first day in Portugal and highly recommend it. Our guide was thorough and excited to share his knowledge of history. We were able to see some of the more famous areas of Porto, but we also saw areas that were not in the guidebook. Our guide made recommendations throughout the tour and was patient as we took notes and photos. The presentation was both engaging and knowledgeable. If you are truly interested in learning more about Porto, book this tour! It goes beyond the surface and really gives you a feel for the city! Excited to further explore the city armed with new recommendations beyond the guidebook!

We only had one day to spend in Porto. This tour was the perfect way to get the day started. Maria was extremely knowledgeable and very personable. She really put a personal touch to the tour by showing us the house her grandparents were born in!

It was a good time and time was enough Please speak very slowly and clear in English I also received a message on WhatsApp, be careful with this. Some people don’t use it

Ana was an incredible tour guide. I was the only person who booked it so it ended up being a private tour. It was so special to get to hear about Porto from a local. She gave fantastic recommendations. We had a wonderful afternoon together!

Orlando knows a lot about the history of not only Porto but also Portugal. He is very friendly, open and communicative. We saw and learned a lot about of the most important landscapes and buildings but also smaller, more hidden alleys and sights. Even in Covid times it’s safe to book this tour because distances can be kept at all times. We strongly recommend to book this tour! We loved it!

Orlando was actually above and beyond amazing. His knowledge was vast and he really wanted us to understand why Porto is the way we see it today. He was funny and had an answer to all of our questions. To be honest there really is nothing I would change about our kickstart tour with Orlando!

Andre great job going over so many different fun details about Porto. I didn't think there would be enough time to do much, but Andre really packed alot of fun sites and facts into the tour in a short period of time.

Orlando LaTourret was one of the best guides we have encountered in our many years of travel. He was prompt and immediately greeted us with his wealth of knowledge about Porto and Portugal He was considerate of our pace and pointed out many hidden gems. His English was excellent and knew many fun facts that you would not know on your own or through guide books. I wish he was available for the rest of our time here. He would be a wonderful guide to go with to Braga and other trips from Porto. What an enjoyable and informative morning. He also suggested non touristy restaurants where we ate lunch for 2 for $17Euros!

Thanks to Bruno's knowledge and advice we gained a super starter's insight into Porto, its history and its sights. Bruno was very knowledgable and did not mind to go beyond the advertised tour schedule to introduce us to one of his favourite spots in the city. He arrived at the meeting point before the agreed time. His English was excellent. We thoroughly enjoyed the introductory tour with Bruno and would highly recommend him.

André was very knowledgeable and generous with information. He took us to sites that were awesome. We recommend you book the 3 h tour there is too much to see for 90' .

With only 1 day in Porto we booked a walking tour with Orlando. What we got was so much more. Orlando was kind, entertaining and so informative and knowledgeable. We saw more history than would have ever been possible without him. We feel that we actually KNOW Porto even though we had only a day to discover it. Thank you Orlando for a fantastic day! When arriving in Porto we met with Ana in the city center. She took us with her through her city and we discovered the centre through her eyes. An amazing experience which gave us a nice overview of the city\u2019s main highlights but with a great local touch and some fun inside information. We even tried our first Nata together from one of here favourite local bakeries. Ana is a kind and warm person and we really connected with her. We think it is hard not to. Even after our guided tour we could count on her for some great advice food-wise. Thanks Ana for showing us your Porto!

Rui was a warm and genuine host to give us a introduction to Porto. He's passionate about the history and stories of Porto which really gave us a feel for the life of the city. Thank you Rui!

We spent an amazing afternoon with Orlando. His knowledge and insight was amazing and his energy level is impressive. We are hikers and experienced urban explorers, but Orlando has so much energy and such knowledge of so many sites and neighborhoods that he kept us moving and we saw so much more than we would have seen with another guide. On top of that, we found him funny and charming and full of anecdotes and insights. Highly recommended!

We thoroughly enjoyed our 90 minute orientation tour with Rui. He was engaging, very knowledgeable, and has a great sense of humor. He has a wonderful, personal disposition. The orientation tour is a great way to get acquainted with Porto upon arriving to a new city.

Ana was a delight to be with and met us at our central apartment. She gave us such interesting information about Porto, also excellent recommendations. We asked Ana to book us a non touristy Fado with dinner as we have been to Portugal before and wanted to go where the locals go and it was terrific. Time well spent with good company. Thank you. Rui is a great guide to Porto. He knows his way around and is able to tell lots of stories and curiosities about buildings and people of Porto. We were on a 90 min tour and had a great overview of the city for our next couple of sightseeing days. He gave us some restaurant tips at the end of the tour that we want to try out during days.

Really enjoyed our walk - was perfect amount of time. Joao arrived on time, was knowledgeable and informative - what we wanted from our tour.

The apartment was lovely, spacious and filled with original art work and antique books. Great view. It was a little far from the city center but we were aware of that. The owner met us, he was very nice and helpful.

Well informed, careful and good ability to adapt the trip to our wishes and interests. Exciting trip, very useful to go in depth with things on your own.
