Itinerary
The Douro River, in the city of Porto, offers an unforgettable view with its historic riverbanks, the Port wine cellars in Vila Nova de Gaia, and the iconic Luís I Bridge. It’s perfect for walking tours, boat rides, or simply enjoying the sunset in a unique and authentic setting.
The most iconic bridge in Greater Porto. Arched bridge with road on the lower level and metro line on the upper level between Porto and Vila Nova de Gaia. This construction replaced the old suspension bridge that existed on the same site and was carried out through a project by the Belgian engineer Théophile Seyrig, who had previously collaborated with Gustave Eiffel in the construction of the D. Maria Pia railway bridge.
Long road bridge from the 1990s connecting Vila Nova de Gaia and the center of Porto, with views over the Douro River. Of the bridges linking Porto to Vila Nova de Gaia, Ponte do Freixo is the one furthest upstream from the Douro river. It is, in fact, two bridges built in a portico side by side and 10 cm apart from each other.
Ponte Infante Dom Henrique, also known as Ponte do Infante, is a road bridge that connects Vila Nova de Gaia to Porto, over the Douro River, in Portugal. Named in honor of Infante D. Henrique, born in Porto, it is the most recent and, according to many, the slenderest bridge linking Porto and Gaia. It was built to replace the upper deck of the Luís I Bridge.
Ponte de São João is a railway infrastructure that transports the Northern Line over the Douro River, near the city of Porto, in Portugal. Built to replace the 100-year-old Ponte D. Maria Pia, it entered service on June 24, 1991.
Ponte da Arrábida is an arched bridge over the Douro River. Since the 1930s, it was necessary to create alternative connections to the old bridges (D. Maria Pia and D. Luís bridges) in order to respond to the growing flow of road traffic. At the time of its construction in 1963, the bridge had the largest reinforced concrete arch of any bridge in the world.
Ancient monastery from the 16th century, located on top of a hill and notable for its cloister and round church. The monastery is considered one of the most remarkable buildings in classical European architecture due to its exceptional architectural value and the unique character of its church and cloister, both circular and with the same dimension. The church was classified as a National Monument in 1910 and in 1996, together with the Historic Center of Porto and the Luís I Bridge, it became classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Imposing arched railway bridge completed in 1877 and designed by the famous architect Gustave Eiffel. It is considered, together with the Viaduct of Garabit, as the greatest masterpieces executed by the engineer Gustave Eiffel. At the time of its inauguration, it was the bridge with the longest iron arch in the world.
Cais de Gaia is a tourist area with terraces, restaurants and bars, located on the left bank of the Douro River, in Vila Nova de Gaia, opposite the historic area of Porto, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Portugal. For many centuries, a river port was located here, from which various goods were exported, with particular emphasis on Port wine.
Ribeira is one of the oldest and most typical places in the city of Porto, it is part of the Historic Center of Porto, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Garden overlooking Rio and the city of Porto, a very famous space in our city.

Great trip on a private yacht on the Douro River in Porto. David and John were great guides- very friendly and knowledgeable. Drinks and food were plentiful. A really fun afternoon!
Excellent. David was great at explaining key features along the river. Would do it again.
It was such a wonderful and relaxing experience to be on the water, away from crowds. We love Nuna. 🩷
Wonderful. Relaxing. Great wine. Great charcuterie. Highly recommend.
My husband and I had an absolutely wonderful private boat experience in Porto. Our captain was skilled and friendly, and the gentleman hosting us made the afternoon feel truly special with delicious beverages and a beautifully prepared charcuterie board. The two-hour cruise was relaxing, scenic, and perfectly paced. They even took many photos of us throughout the trip, which was such a thoughtful touch and gave us great memories to take home. We highly recommend this experience to anyone visiting Porto — it was a highlight of our trip.
This was a wonderful evening. John and Marianna were so much fun to be with. It was like being out with friends on their yacht.
This was the highlight of our trip. We absolutely loved our boat captain Mariela, and we had an incredible tour of the bridges and river of Porto in addition to some delicious drinks and a beautiful cheese platter. It was a perfect way to end our day and see the sunset.
Marianna and João are amazing. Service, conversation, laughs, and wine are great. Ask Marianna her jokes! Very good and funny. One of the best Viator experiences we’ve had. I recommend this to anyone in Porto. And recommend these two. Amazing
Wonderful Must do! Our guides were knowledgeable kind informative and fun! They are young ambitious motivated and hardworking. Impressive to see so much passion and integrity in these fine young adults. Thank you for a wonderful experience. I wish the tour was longer
Stunning yacht and a fabulous afternoon. Really fun couple of hours with Tommy (Zap Douro) and David who looked after us very well. Great wine port, fizz and cheese board. 🎉
What a wonderful experience. We saw both views of Porto and Gaia. It was a 530pm tour and to me, perfect for pictures. We had daylight and sunset! Our crew two young skilled hardworking people. Attentive and knowledgeable mature and grounded. I know their families are proud. Don’t miss this opportunity to be impressed whether their knowledge and determination to excel.. ensuring you have an amazing experience. I wish we would have had more time . Thank you
We had a wonderful time with Captain Joáo and our guide also named Joáo. Highly recommend.
Was such a luxury to motor the Douro River in a very nice yacht! The wine and charcuterie board was fabulous and the crew was super nice!
Fantastic boat trip. We were 5 ladies, we chose the smaller yacht. The 2 guides on the boat were great, informative, but gave us our space. A lovely yacht, shade for us to sit under, great meats & cheeses & plenty of port & wine. A wonderful trip with great sights to see.
BEST EVER!!!! This sunset cruise was absolutely hands down fantastic!!! Nina, our guide, was SO MUCH FUN!!! They embraced our rowdy 8 people group and really went out of their way to ensure that we enjoyed our time. We would highly recommend this cruise to anyone looking to have a beautiful evening cruising under 6.5 bridges while sipping on cocktails and a great charcuterie board!!! Don’t miss this one!!!
Noona and John were great. Just the right mix of letting us enjoy the trip and sharing some history and culture. Very enjoyable.
Awesome late-day cruise on the Duoro. Great way to see Porto and Gaia.
A must try experience when visiting Porto. We celebrated my husband’s birthday on this 2 hour boat experience. The crew was amazing and make sure we always had our glasses filled! I would highly recommend this and go again next time we’re in Porto.
Amazing experience!! John and Peter where phenomenal hosts!!! Defo recommend!!! Best trip ever!!
Tomy and Nuna made the afternoon very special!! Great captain, and Nuna was a great crew, very knowledgeable, professional and friendly! We couldn't have asked for a better experience.
The highlight of our time in Porto! Duart and Nuna were amazing hosts and phenomenal with our 3 kids (ages 5, 7 and 11), even giving them water guns and playing in a water fight with them! We had such a great time and would do this again in a heartbeat. The wine was great and charcuterie was a hit with all! Cannot recommend enough!
Pedro and joão made the whole experience worth while, sincerely amazing guys! Thank you for everything! If i were to come again i’d book with these 2 again!

We had a lovely time on the Douro River cruise. The boat was comfortable, the views were beautiful, and it was a very relaxing way to enjoy Porto from a different perspective. A special mention to the crew, Joao Rock and Pedro, who were friendly, attentive, and professional throughout the cruise. They created a really pleasant atmosphere and made the experience even more enjoyable. The Porto wine tasted was reaaaly good! Highly recommended for a relaxing and scenic experience on the Douro!
Had a lovely time, Mini rock and Pedro were excellent hosts. Port wine and charcuterie board and sparkling wine lovely experience.
Mini rock and Pedro were excellent hosts really enjoyed our trip well worth it.
Excellent boat charter with Antonio and John. We saw the bridges and shoreline on Porto along the Douro River at a very relaxed and leisurely pace. Good cheese board. Wines were weak choices but that’s expected so I brought some of my own also.
So nice and they were interesting and fun! Sun wasn’t out, unfortunately, but great experience on the river
Was easy to find and the service was very good. The view was pretty and the ride was smooth!
Oh wonderful to her yacht cruise on the Duoro River. Both Caroline and David were enchanting hosts - answering all of our questions, keeping us well supplied with port and Portuguese sparkling wine as well as a wonderful charcuterie board. 💯% recommended!!
Great experience. Highly recommended. The staff was amazing. Boat was beautiful. We even boated with three small toddlers and the staff was so accommodating a sweet with them.
Great crew, nice boat, lots of port and cheese. Kids had a great time!
I had a great time on the boat. The staff are so funny and kind. They really ensured we had a great time. Definitely recommend!
This was awesome! Mariana and the captain were great- friendly- personable and knowledgeable of the history. Best activity in Porto! Must do!
Our hosts Vasco and Pedro were really great, informative and friendly. They were patient when some of our party were stuck in traffic which delayed the trip - so we appreciated them kindly waiting for us without a problem. When getting on board the boat they gave good service and our drinks were topped up constantly. It was a nice experience for a special birthday.
Very relaxing and had get knowledge of the city. Lovely selection of wines, cheese and meat. Would recommend 100%. Views of city are amazing one of a kind experience
Had the best experience 10/10
Absolutely wonderful!!! The guys were great, superb service and conversation. Can’t wait to do it again :D
Very Nice Guys, a good trip and Some good drinks
Good trip with the boat, nice guys
Great experience Super nice crew Boat is spacious, super comfortable, and very well maintained
Carolina and Tom Sawyer…. This friendly duo have everything under control. The yacht was on time and incredibly clean, lots of places to sit or lay down on the yacht. Cheese and wine tasting, sun, friendly hosts speaking Portuguese and English, some banter… awesome tour.
Beautiful, relaxing experience. It was lovely to have the whole boat to ourselves and see Porto from the water. We really enjoyed the Port and sparkling wine that were offered during the trip. One thing to be aware of is that getting to the seating at the front of the boat involves climbing along a very narrow side deck. The children managed it fine, but my 80-year-old mother couldn't. She was, however, able to sit in the front seat next to the driver of the boat, which still gave her a great view. My only criticism was that we weren't offered life jackets or given a safety briefing, despite having young children with us, which made me a little uneasy. I'm sure life jackets were available, but I didn't think to ask at the time. If you're travelling with children, it's worth checking before you set off.
João and Vasco (sorry, probably butchered it) were amazing. We’ve done private sailing in Italy/Greece/Philippines/Caribbean/etc and these guys were awesome! My wife and I had a great time. They were knowledgeable, fun, and the food and drinks were top notch. Highly recommend
Great experience. A beautiful trip on the Douro river. If you pick end of the afternoon you have a beautiful sunset. The team was just great. Nice, very interesting and friendly. Huge thanks you to Vasco and Joao aka "mini rock" !!
What an amazing experience on a beautiful boat, our hosts Marianna and Antonio were brilliant so friendly whole experience relaxing and fun. We upgraded to the bigger boat if thinking of booking so worth the upgrade as it’s a really beautiful boat and so luxurious. If ever back in Porto would rebook and will recommend to friends as the best couple of hours! Thanks both for such a lovely time
It was a lovely relaxing cruise down the river with great snacks, wine, and hosts. It was a great activity for our first evening in Porto.
This was a real highlight of our week in Porto. The trip lasted around 2 hours and the crew were so friendly, making it a really relaxing atmosphere. They also explained a little history behind each of the bridges. We enjoyed port, wine and a cheese / charcuterie platter. There were 4 of us and we had opted for a private cruise so had the boat to ourselves. Although it was not a cheap trip at £250, it was worth every penny and we would recommend this trip to anyone.
